tires and light the fires time to roll time to roll what uh what do you got there uh I have a sazar Ry that I just opened that I have actually had it in there and I haven't had it in a while and I was talking with somebody today at my daughter's chew leading um and uh we got to talk in and uh he was a bourbon guy and he actually he's more of a rye guy it sounded like um and he was talking about zazar I was like o I haven't had that in a while I'm going to drink that when I record my podcast nice and then come to find out he's a Georgia fan and he subscribed to the podcast right then and there and say there you go spreading the word always be closing Jim always be closing little podcast marketing on the side here uh I'm doing this for um for I will say for John Smith uh no longer John tweet Sports uh handle change on Twitter uh but back in 2021 this Weller Special Reserve green label is what he brought to the tailgate the Greg and Rodeo hosted up here in Charlotte and uh never looked back since so that was kind of my introduction to uh finer bourbon um so no no combos tonight but I do have the Willer Special Reserve I like it so throwing it throwing it back throwing it back to the last time we played these guys which on that I mean when we think back that's what started this this whole ride that we're on uh we've been on for these these these few years kind of started back with that uh 2021 it all started it all started with the season the season over against clemon that's right yeah so many things started so many that was what so that was our second year of the podcast since we decided to start a podcast during Co but yeah uh I feel like podcast kind of really took form that year and then you know we ended the drought we met so many of the folks that you know we now know and and folks that listen that we tailgate with and talk to all the time I feel like uh came from that season and even from that game really so yeah I I mean you met everybody like that's that's where a lot of the the foundational elements I mean first time I met your dad and you know that that was you know that was the Catalyst for a lot of relationship building that kind of built from there yeah yeah for sure well um do you know what what is your plan your attendance plan do you do you know yet I don't think that I'm GNA be going down there the noon kickoff like just like trying to trying to sort that out on on the weekend I don't know that I'm going to go I'm going to head down there Friday night uh the night before for the there's a little shindig that uh the follywood folks are putting on uh over at the what's Westside Motor Lodge right West yeah Westside uh Westside motor Lounge yeah motor Lounge that's what it was um and so we're going to go down there and have some have some good times with some live music and yeah that's I think that that's that's going to be the extent of of my festivities this weekend okay nice I will be sure to put a link to that in the show notes where folks can go and order tickets um yeah that is is from 3: to 11 on Friday all ages uh kids 12 and under get in free so hey I don't know if you're taking Carter or any other kids but those who are under 12 get in free um the pink stones are there from they're they're an Athens band J and then Jupiter coyotes at six there's a Clemson band that I'm not familiar with I'm not sure if it's dazzer or daer or dazr but they're they're there too so I would totally go I don't I can't it's going to be hard for me because I I am coming to the game um but Lily and I are coming and so we're not going to you know head the I've got to work and she has school so we're not going to head down until you know end of the work day on Friday so um I would miss it so I'm not gonna be able to make it of that otherwise I would uh I if I could just take the day off or something I I would have to pull the away out of school so not going to do that yeah it's it's always it's always tough when the kids had school yeah so but it does uh does sound like a sound like a good time so yeah it should be fun I think uh John Smith is going to come with me and like as you mentioned I'm GNA see if the kids want to go but again that's also going to be difficult because Carter doesn't actually get out of school until like he doesn't get off the bus until five o'clock man that's late it's so late it's so frustrating too like CU he misses out on a lot of stuff like you know basically get home and then go to in some cases you got to go to practice and all that jazz yeah honestly that's kind of how it is here like now Lily does get least at least get home earlier now the the high school um they go the earliest and get the home get home the earliest so Middle School is brutal shout out to Carter just turned 13 Carter happy birthday Carter happy birthday Carter don't don't even have to say sorry Carter and uh knew uh wasn't one of the gifts was college football 25 and You' you've now learned how easy it is to throw interceptions and so now you know what I'm talking about yes Carter and I U played the first game that we played was uh he he was Georgia and that was his claim he had already claimed it before I had sat down nice and instead of playing Georgia versus Georgia I said okay let's go next next step down so we went to Dan Lanning how oron nice and uh the Bulldogs ended up pulling out a squeaker and there were a total of 10 interceptions that included three pick sixes um amazing it was it was not Carson Beck's best day um but they did they did pull out they did pull out the win uh as it as it was uh I was having trouble with the field goal mechanisms oh field goals are so hard which did not do Clemson or did not do uh Oregon uh any favors especially if you get the stadium pulse if you're playing at Georgia I don't know where you're playing but uh oh man it's like it's like it's like H I'm so glad that that you have the game and now we can talk about it I I promise we won't just talk about that game on this podcast this is now this is now a college football 25 uh podcast yeah we're GNA we're going to turn into we're going to change we're we're going have like a YouTube stream of us playing twitch the kids call it twitch I guess we could do on Twitch or or Tik Tok or something amazing happy happy birthday uh Carter glad yeah he had a good time good time we we actually got putting green he's got a putting green nice now that we're I have I he just got it today it was a late it was a late arrival okay but uh so we've got like this little putting green situation in the playroom so he's been I've been listening to him putting from way down town nice lots of lots of putts for the Master's Championship perfect perfect I do feel like now I feel like I'm having like deja vu where I guarantee this happens like first episode first game preview ever year I'm like oh Kim and Carter their birthdays are right next to each other uh yesterday was Kim's birthday birthday so we also did some gaming uh for Kim's birthday uh with the a new uh Super Mario game uh so little different flavor but uh got a new Switch game so that's was fun sweet all right um why don't we dive into the matchup um there there's a game in this there is a game there's a game the the dogs and the tigers um so kickoff is as you mentioned noon it's we got a nuner uh for the first game um at mercedesbenz mercedesbenz in Atlanta um let's see the dogs were 13- one and 8-0 in the SEC um last year and the regular season at least Clemson uh 9 and4 4-4 in the ACC uh rankings for this year dogs are consensus number one in AP and coaches pole and Clemson is 14 in both um this game is not on CBS not that it necessar it wouldn't have been anyway but uh we get an early look at what being on ABC is going to be like um we got we've got a good crew though got sha MCD Greg mroy and Molly McGrath uh on the call I will point out John I think that the the folks who maintain the game notes um are a little out of practice because the official game notes say that the official hashtag on Twitter is ug versus GT and I don't think that's right oh that's hilarious so someone yeah yeah actually actually has the the link to the history the history is the link is Georgia versus Georgia Tech I will tell you that link does go to the Georgia cumson history at least um but it's it says Georgia Tech but it is the Clemson history so we don't know what the official hashtag is we'll we'll we'll alert everyone once we once we learn that um actually isn't it um it's on the other page oh is it uh hash CLM vers ug okay man I now the fact that it's just hash CLM oh just makes me think of Clen and his son so Clen and his [Laughter] son H let's see the alltime series uh Georgia leads I mean this is pretty lopsided we lead the alltime series 431 18 and four um as we mentioned earlier the last time we met uh was that 10 to3 win in Charlotte uh they kind of got us going on run that we're on um let's see the weather uh going to be hot so low of 72 it's going to be 87 at kickoff at noon and the high is at 92 at 4 I guess that's why they're closing the roof so the roof at the bz will be closed um for some reason I guess because it's too hot I I guess I'm not going to complain like I'll be happy with the air conditioning so overall it's definitely still warm out there folks uh I know that John John was upset he wanted to he wanted to crank the heat up on everybody yeah yeah yeah but uh it it would definitely have been unpleasantly warm inside the stadium I feel like yeah for sure so I'm good with that um I can't even remember last time or the or the Georgia Oregon game two years ago if it was open or closed I can't remember I have to go look through my see if I can find any pictures I took um not sure that one wasn't at noon though all right that's that's what we got for the matchup um I believe you have some fun facts for his JP why don't we transition into JP's fun facts we do have some fun facts there's there's a lot of fun facts about you know know your foe type stuff so we're playing Clemson College that was originally founded as a military school did you know that Jim I did not know that their early students were Cadets and they looked like uh modernday um they look like modern day um you know army army Cadets um they look like they have the gray uniforms that kind of thing oh okay gotcha gotcha um do you know what Clemson's original colors were I'm guessing they were not orange and purple they were not Orange and purple um their first school colors were red and blue oh man I was going to say red and black just to be funny uh I I should have said it because it would have been pretty close yeah and we actually have multiple on multiple levels uh more reasons to hate Clemson as a rival um because um they didn't adopt the orange and purple until uh they had a football team basically um Walter rigs created the team in 1896 and rigs was actually from Auburn and took the idea of orange from the University of Auburn or Auburn University whatever um so orange Clemson orange Auburn Georgia Hayden interesting um the football team also has a cemetery on campus um every time they defeat a top 25 opponent they add a tombstone outside of their football facilities to commemorate the the loss I did I had no idea okay the death of their opponent on their own field they only they add the they add the tombstone on away losses to on a away wins to top 25 teams does that make sense yeah yeah yeah I'm with you yeah interesting so and did the Tombstones go with Death Valley is that Death Valley correct yes okay um that name actually came from I can't remember I know that's in my notes somewhere it was it's very deep in one of these pages but um the the term Death Valley actually came from a a coach that disliked going there so much and they they called it Death Valley additionally Howard's Rock um I believe that uh mentioned this on Chapel bell curve um she went through a whole thing on where the rock came from I believe yeah shout out I believe that the rock was from Death Valley if I remember as well that was another Death Valley connection gotcha okay uh it was a door stop FYI spoiler alert it was a door stop for for many for many years and then somehow became you can listen to Chapel veler and tell you all about the rock nice nice friends of the show that's right uh let's see here there's a secret book that literally everybody signs um I guess you check it out from the library they've had to rebind it a lot so if you go to the university um you are expected to sign this book um they apparently have eight airplane statues that are placed all throughout the campus um and you have to find and touch all of them before you graduate um okay for some reason I think that maybe it's a military thing I don't I can't confirm that okay um but it wasn't all male military school to begin with so those first few pages and chapters in that in that book are are going to be all men okay makes sense the all men's the all men's college from from South Carolina um let's see here what else do we got uh oh Jim and you and I were talking about this before since we were talking about some of the the football coloration logos yeah um did you know that there is a unique Clemson paw only because we accidentally ended up talking about [Music] [Laughter] it so if you look at the Clemson paw in the bottom right corner there is a little hook that is um kind of there on all of their officially licensed merchandise you will see that hook and I think that Jim you've got a picture of it um that you can show to the folks as well yep um are you sharing it now or yes okay got it um in the bottom right you'll see that there's a little hook the that hook is actually from a scar that the original tiger that they used to plaster cast the the paw print um the tiger that they used from I think it was a it was some kind of some animal sanctuary our Zoo up in Chicago um the the the tiger actually had a scar and so that's what that little Hook is it's a it's a imprint of the scar that the the the tiger had they used so you will know that your merchandise is legit when you hook basically if you are a Clemson fan nice I would just I would just I would just throw it in the trash but that's just me yeah I I I never knew that so I I defin I definitely learned that so yeah um they also the cheerleaders they they wear a a tiger rag um they wear a tiger rag on their left wrist that when they tie it it has to display the the letters i PT a y ipte I guess um that is a that stands for um I pay 10 a year and that is an homage to their like athletic endowment okay that's like the that's like their fund or whatever and I guess it's like really successful one of the more successful fundraising arms of a university in the in the country apparently um they also also wear a tiger paw on their on their left cheek so they and it's turned to one o'clock um I guess a long time ago the football games were played at at at one o'clock and so that's why they have the the Tiger Claw pointed in that direction H okay um that's just like some of their things and then every Friday they have a a holiday which I guess that we'll put this to the test when we go John on Friday we'll call out all of the all the impostor Clemson fans that are not wearing orange because every Friday is solid Orange Friday and they must wear orange so I will go with an all red Ensemble on Friday just so that we can offset that I like it I like it um the other thing that they do that um I don't think they're going to get a chance to do it in this game but they go to the field they they Rush the field this is something else that Yara had mentioned but I did see it in in multiple places they meet at the Paw um so after every game win or lose they go on the field and sing the alma mater yeah um I don't know how that works but that's like what what their thinges that's what they do so yeah I know I I I can't tell you how many times I've gotten a text when they beat someone and like and then they all end up on the field and like the text Will be like really they're restoring the field because they beat insert team like it could be like duke or something you know and it's like well like they do it every game yeah right it's crazy right um the other thing that I will say that is also like something that is like such a Clemson thing to do but they have a um they have an Oculus building at their stadium that is a giant Tower and it's two two pillars and there's a divider in the middle and there's an angle I should have sent you a picture of this one too sorry I forgot it was in my notes but okay if you go and look at a picture Google if you Google the Clemson Oculus you'll see what you'll see how it it looks like this but it is designed in the way to look like the national championship the cfp national championship trophy and it is such a Clemson thing to do to win a national championship and build a giant building on on their on their football field to commemorate such the commemorate the event hat track but yeah it's got this angle on it that makes it look like the cfp trophy interesting it was their design Choice um yeah that's that's that's pretty much it um famous famous alumni um Nikki Haley uh of of political fame um let's see here what was another one uh Dolph lond London londen yeah DOL 80s and early 90s action lren is that his say yeah he was like he was he was He-Man and he was uh in Rocky four he was the he played Ian I Drago yeah Drago yeah yeah um I would say that he's probably the most famous because the other ones are like political like strong Thurman famous racist um John Edwards of um many uh political Scandal um oh one of my uh one of my my 90s folks will probably know this Horus Grant yeah famous basketball player from the Chicago Bulls in the magic and War Rex specs if I remember and he did wear Rex backs um let's see here yeah oh soccer fan a aguchi ano also known as G um famous US soccer player um Lee Bryce country singer Lee Bryce um is also a Clemson alumni um tra Travis etn et's brother is also a famous of Love night accurate uh let's see here I don't think that I think that that's pretty much it because there's nothing else really another us another US soccer Stuart Holden uh he's another for my soccer fans out there that's uh that's pretty much it oh and um I do have one more and then we can move on um Clemson has I feel like I feel like we've talked about this so many times like dude like let's just take a moment to respect John Heisman so John Heisman coached at Clemson Auburn and joria Tech it's like the guy was literally born to coach teams that are Rivals of Georgia yeah I know I know it is it is wild yeah I was looking at it I saw I saw him mentioned so he coached there from 1900 to 1903 and left to go and basically be literally everything at Georgia Tech he was the football coach from 1904 to 1919 and he was the basketball coach from 1908 to 1909 09 uh and again 1912 to 1914 and then he was the baseball coach from 1904 to 1917 at Georgia Tech and he was the administrator yeah yeah yeah the dude did everything he was also Clemson's baseball coach as well um during that time that he was the football coach so yeah anyway the guy went from Auburn Clemson to Georgia Tech and forever will be you know you're dead to me yeah horrible all all poor decisions all all po decisions that's uh that's all I got okay uh from from JP's fun facts nice um do you want to run with back again for a second season uh Hasty's hard rate history or do you that yeah you can was that a question or do you want me nice right good call good call J thanks uh thanks again Jason um but here we go this is what Jason's got for Clemson the topic of athletes and coaches betting on games has been contentious from the 19th Cy through to today the black sock Scandal of 1919 the buts Bryant controversy the Boston College Point shaving scandal in the late 7s and Pete Rose generally all stand as reminders of how controversial sports betting can be in 1903 the Georgia and Clemson teams engaged in a large wager through this uh though sorry though this was this was less scandalous than it might initially sound the Georgia and Clemson teams first met in 18 1997 and Clemson won seven consecutive meetings from 1900 to 1906 should be noted here that Clemson has only managed to win 11 games in the series since 1906 go dogs Jason says I feel like he I feel like he should have inserted like a mic drop Emoji in the middle of his email but he continued yes uh Jason he's he's spiking he's spiking the football on that one uh but that is crazy 11 they've only won 11 games since 1906 like use that in your in your smack talk bad and Company yeah um all right we move on the 1903 Georgia team coached by Marvin Dickinson was Haas while Clemson fielded a strong team Georgia managed a record of only three wins against four losses with one of those losses to an athletic club from Savannah Clemson on the other hand put up a record of four wins one loss and one tie that year and were the Southern interc colic Athletic Association co-champions Along with Powerhouse football club Cumberland College uh to start the 1903 season off Clemson beat Georgia 29 to nothing after the game Georgia's players bet the Clemson players one bushel of apples for every point over 29 that Clemson scored against George attacked which was Clemson's opponent the next week Clemson beat George Georgia Tech 73 to nothing so the Georgia team owed Clemson 44 bushels of apples I don't know I feel like we need some math here but like 44 bushels is a lot of apples is effectively what we decided yeah Clemson students who were described by the Atlanta Journal in an article on October 19th 1903 as they describ them as living in a dim and secluded spot they had a voracious appe for apples the journal Journal went on to say eating apples is said to be Crown the crowning dissipation of Cl of the Clemson student body the town itself has not yet been Incorporated on the map and such habits as the demon rum pingpong and other forms of Vice known to a large city are unknown weird what a weird thing to say agency uh why do they have such an appetite for Apple we can only Wonder perhaps their diet was poor perhaps they didn't come across a re they perhaps they'd come across a recipe for homemade apple branding regardless of the reasons we can only hope that the NCAA statute of limitations on gambling fresh fruit has passed and that all parties were satisfied with their wager and with TCH humiliation as a side note Clemson's coach as we just discussed that year would go on to coach at Tech starting the very next season his name was John Heisman wow that was Hasty's Herer history um I did that's a lot of that's a lot of bushels of apples guys it is a lot and uh so for those who are not if you're just doing the audio just a heads up like with these in the in the YouTube version there are uh artifacts that Jason sends along with them so for you those of you who are watching on YouTube you saw those we've got article clippings uh picture images of the team uh from 1903 which the funny thing I thought about that um is that on the photo of the 1903 Georgia team there's a little thing at the bottom which just says apostrophe 03 so even back then uh I know it's always funny it's like the two digigit two-digit year thing to me uh they were doing that back then too so yeah little extra for the YouTube folks for the YouTube crowd curious how many apples I didn't even look at this how many apples are in a bushel yeah I should know from when I yeah one bushel of apples is about 42 PBS and it's about 120 medium-size apples wow that is a lot of apples they had to have been making alcohol they had have been making booze with it I mean someone had to have said how do you like them apples right I'm just saying did they send them any Macintosh Kenny hey Kenny made the uh off off the reals Kenny Macintosh made he made the Seattle Seahawks by the way congrats you love to see it love to see it and and dejon dejon made the uh the Steelers Squad right no no no no dejon no I thought that was I thought that was uh no I thought Lamar said that he was he was going to make the squad n Kenny MC uh not keny McIntosh uh Kendall Milton also did not make the the eagles they you know they were undrafted free agents so it's tough that is tough I like to see I like to see our dogs have success don't really don't really pay attention to the NFL much yeah yeah all right let's um got a couple news and notes um not a ton but did uh I listened to Kirby's um Monday press conference um yesterday we're recording on Tuesday um and couple basically two things one Kirby will not talk about suspensions and it doesn't matter which reporter asks him or how many times they ask him or how they rephrase the question he refused to talk about it people kept trying to like basically rephrase to be like is Trevor at etn gonna play and he just like don't talk about suspensions and he would move on like that was all he would say um so he's not going to reveal that um the only other thing I will say that came out um that he did confirm there had been a lot of uh rumors about rodri Robinson um he has the dreaded turf toe um that we've talked about that as I can confirm is a very difficult thing to go through um but what Kirby confirmed was what we had heard we've been seeing online and we had heard from Graham coffee uh on D Central actually um so we knew about it a few days before the press conference but he had surgery so Kirby did um confirm that uh Ric Robinson had surgery so I think he said he's you know he's going to be a week to week kind of thing so we'll see how that plays out um hate that for him had heard he had been having a good um offseason um he was really coming on late last season so hate that for rodri um but hopefully a speedy recovery there I will say I didn't hear Kirby say hopeful about anyone uh didn't hear any hopeful conversation so for what that's worth because we all know what that means um then the only other thing as I was going to say on the the only other thing I heard on like Deo swinny type stuff apparently he is uh now like he refuses to like he has the coaches Colin show um I guess it's no longer a Colin show he's not going to take uh live calls anymore um after like that one guy asked him like what he was doing with all his money or something um he he has decided to to shut that down which I feel like most coaches these days I mean Kirby doesn't take live questions well he does live but you have to be there looking at him uh like in the audience it's not like on the phone I do remember like the Don and Colin show back in the day was could get interesting so yeah I guess I I guess I get it all right I don't know he hasn't been very forthcoming at all this this week no just a lot of Coach beak yeah a lot of a lot of Kirby a lot of Kirby's coach beak which is like the worst kind of Coach be right right yeah you just gotta keep shopping all right you gotta keep main thing the main thing and assume nothing all right that is the new one the new one by the way assume nothing is the new um oh okay that's the I guess I missed that okay yeah yeah yeah I I had assume nothing assume nothing and it was on the it was on the the I'll say the phone wallpaper fake out uh where we we had an exchange on Twitter with John Michael D earlier this week where he was like I didn't see the one that he sent yeah yeah so the official wallpaper is out now but there was one there was there was a a graphic I'll just say a graphic that the school tweeted out on Monday and it it said was it Dan Dan Jackson it had Dan Jackson it had Aran Smith and then they just had like you know TV channel time all that kind of stuff but if you look there it assumed nothing was on the graphic you could you could find it on the graphic it's it's kind of small I had to like zoom in to see what it said um but that was on there so yeah that's the better never rest type slogan this year is assume nothing got it so we will assume nothing we will assume that we get nothing yeah we'll assume we get fair fair all right um let's see so we looked at the records already okay why don't we just dive into uh what we're looking for in this game and the in the matchups um so we can just talk through offense first so what we're looking for um when Georgia has the ball so Clemson's defensive coordinator is Wes Goodwin um if you look at the stats um from last year uh Clemson had a pretty good defense last year um so they were uh eighth in the FBS um for yards allowed um they're first in defensive success rate um so uh and first in takeaways from what I've got so like I said good uh good defense last year um coming in they're leading so these are all going to be returning player some players to watch for um so the leading returning tackler is Barrett Carter he's a senior linebacker uh picks uh khil Barnes is's a safety he's from Athens actually um is a leading return uh as far as interceptions and then TJ Parker uh as a sophomore defensive end he had five and a half sacks last year um other player to watch for although it sounds like this may be more on a special teams thing I think he's going to be more he's not like starting or anything be more of a reserve on defense but is a my cousin Sammy Brown unfortunately um so I don't [Music] know Samy I I hope you do well uh in every game after this game unless we play it again yeah seriously and then not that one either um so what do you what are you looking for on offense I think the big I think the big thing is um we we talked about rodick Robinson out right because he just had surgery and then with etn like is etn gonna play I think that's that's the big question to me I'm I'm going into um on the I guess the assume nothing uh MRA there I'm assuming I'm just going into this game assuming etn is gonna be suspended um and if he if we send him out there okay um but I'm I'm just kind of preparing myself for him to not be out there but either way we're definitely down rodick Robinson so I don't know um so running R room a little smaller but what what are you looking for out of the the Georgia offense JP uh obviously I'm going to be looking for us to so I think that I think that ultimately how it's going to go for us on offense is we are going to it's going to be a battle um I think that we're going to we're g to battle we're gonna have to go B toe-to-toe with them um for a while and it's going to feel like we're struggling but I think that eventually our talent level will pull away from them for sure yeah um it's going to be a I mean this the first time we play these guys you know with Kirby's Squad you know it was a slugfest and we had you know one of the best teams that we've had in a long time and it was still a defensive grind for us yeah I think that we figured out a better offensive identity since then obviously um I think that we're gonna you know Carson Beck's GNA get his yards I also think that um we may be picking we may be picking him up more than we want to um but I think that the real key for us is going to be the running game because you know when you look at everything when you look at everything from the stats standpoint um I think that uh dog Quant had posted some you know information about the the running games and it looked like that we were you know we were poised to be able to run on these guys um that seems like that that's going to be what we're going to be able to do I am a little concerned with the running back depth the way that it is that was all you know Under the Umbrella of having a full everybody full health and all that kind of jazz so I'm a little concerned about that so we'll see how how that pans out for us yeah yeah um I know uh I'll pull in a elicer question here just so we can while we're on the offense Matthew key had asked like with the injuries and potential suspensions of ATM like who gets the majority of the playing time on Saturday I mean so Brans I mean I think Branson Rob son probably gets the start so I think we're talking Branson Robinson we're talking Cash Money Jones um and we're talking true freshman Nate Frasier which you know our our friend Lamar from over 100 Sanford podcast has been singing his Praises since like recruiting has been really high on him um and it sounds like he's had a good fall camp and uh kids got some Breakaway speed so interested to see what what uh the freshman Mr Frasier can do there out of the back field yeah I'm definitely eager to see what what he's got going on too but it will be wild if we if we run out there and Branson Robinson starts though considering he missed last all last year with like a what a patella tendon injury that's going be pretty impressive if he comes back and starts his first game back um we haven't seen him since he was a pouring on some late touchdowns against TCU in LA right okay cool I think um I mean ultimately if you want like the the the segue into talking about us on on defense or whatever but like um ultimately what the way that this game is going to go is how does their quarterback how's cubik um how does he manage our defense because if he struggles against us they're going to have a long day and how does the trench play look like yeah just just like every just like every game like the The Trenches matter but this particular game seems like it's going to be one where the the trench warfare is going to be pretty brutal for both both sides you know they struggled with their offensive line last year and you know our defensive line struggled but you know by by and large we're looking for those guys to step up right so we our defense versus the their offense like that's that's going to that's going to be the key for us on on the defensive side and then our offensive line matches up pretty nicely with their defensive line but they're pretty good on the defensive side right so yeah it could be a nice challenge for us to start the season and ultimately it's going to come down to you know which quarterback can outshine and and play through um play through their strengths yeah I agree and I really like I mean you know Carson Beck is now he's now down to second last I saw in like favorites for the Heisman uh behind the Oregon quarterback uh Dylan Gab Gil um but I I do I do how how does that happen yeah I thought that was kind of weird I did think that was weird I I saw that today um but I do like does that mean that we should go and run out and put some money on Carson like his odds just get better uh so yeah well I I guess so yeah um but yeah I I do like the weapons that Beck has has around him so even like beyond the running backs I mean you know love it I expect to take even yet like another step forward um Dylan Bell excited about him am curious with the thinness in the backfield do does he get any carries probably not but maybe something to watch for um and then what does Delp look like now that he's tight end one um so we'll be we'll be watching for all that too I I'm still curious to see if we do more vertically with love it U we talked about like everything was very Lateral with him um I don't but I don't know maybe that's what we're maybe that's we see that for Aran Smith I don't know we'll see there's so many weap yeah there's so many different ways that you can use to deploy that and I feel like you know shout out Craig um you got Bobo knows how to he knows how to put points on the board and the best part about that is is that he particularly knows how to put points on the board when he knows that he's got a good defense behind him that can support the offense true um yeah I think that uh I think it's all going to be interesting based on the the college football video video game I think Del's going to have a a good opportunity to succeed dude he's amazing Carter Carter is like beating me over the head with with him so amazing amazing yeah all right well yeah we we can we can uh keep going there with uh what we're looking for when when Clemson has the ball um so again okay so I did find this interesting so their offensive coordinator is Garett Riley I think this is year two there for him um their offensive line coach is is Matt Luke uh who may recall you know was George of of line uh coach um we backfilled him with uh JP's favorite Stacy Clos um but if you recall like Matt Luke left like like he left the coaching profession like to spend time with his family um and now he's back so make that make of that what you will I thought that was interesting um but I know you know Kirby's got a lot of respect for him um that was mentioned in his press conference as well um so we'll see what kind of he has there he pul he pulled an Urban Meyer right like got out for personal reasons and then you came back and now he's back now he's back like not not just back but back in like you know one of college football's preeminent programs right like yeah it's not like not like he came back to UAB or whatever right exactly yeah I thought that was interesting um yeah so yeah so you mentioned that they also have isn't their offensive coordinator uh yeah Garrett Riley Lincoln Riley is like he's like his he's his brother I think unless brother or cousin yeah something like Anyway he he coached with Lincoln riy he comes from the Lincoln Riley coaching tree yeah um and he was at so he was at TCU actually the year we played them that's right in the NAT right so yeah um hopefully that bodess well for our te right right so it's kind of a different story though like we talked about they had a um you know really good at least like FBS rankwise um defense offense was not as good last year they were 52nd in FBS for for yardage um but they do return um you know kid Club niik is back he's a junior um he is also the second leading returning rusher from last year returning but he wasn't like the second leading rusher um so um Phil mafa was the leading rusher last year he's back he had 965 yards and 13 touchdowns Club Nick only had 180 yards rushing on the season he did have four rushing touchdowns so not like a crazy running threat or anything but he had 125 carries and I guess decent for a quarterback so we'll we'll watch out for that um and then their leading returning receiver that's back is a sophomore Tyler Brown um he had four touchdowns last year and then they're tight end uh Jake bring stool is their second leading returning receiver he had 48 98 yards um in five touchdowns last year mhm so I don't know I mean I I agree with your take earlier of like it's going to be a line of scrimmage battle um if we can do anything close to what we did to these guys back in 2021 I mean that game like our defense was just insane now granted it was dju that we were pressuring um so I don't know how how that will will translate here say that I mean you say that but like I watched a little bit I watched a little bit of the the Bull game film review and I've watched a little bit of the Clemson spring game and you know dude buddy buddy is sometimes he gets as as Carter likes to say he gets The Yips Yips Yips yeah like I've seen it make some bad decisions so if you make bad decisions bad decisions against this our defense yeah those tend to those tend to yield good results for us yeah so yeah I don't I don't necessarily think that and and I do not anticipate that he's going to be able to sit back and pick us apart no I don't think so either I don't think so either yeah so okay I we'll just keep watching for what we talked about the season preview which is like what's the what's our dline and what's our interior D line going to look like specifically do can we see somebody step up there so that's probably the main thing I'd be watching for y we' love to see Malachi Starks get another pick in the bz like he did when he's a true freshman I'm all for that keep that tradition going that's right that's right all right um we can do a quick special teams uh thing here so on special teams let's see they have a have had a fall Camp kicking competition uh for Place kicker so we don't know who it's going to be um it will either be true freshman Nolan Hower or returning sophomore Robert gun uh Robert gun thei was one of four on field goals last year um but this Hower kid was like a highly touted recruited uh kicker so we'll see who they try out there as kicker um I'm gonna go ahead and and and claim the name uh if if if Houser ends up winning the job he's going to be the Howitzer okay yeah that that works works and then let's see their punter his name is Aiden Swanson he is a senior he is not from Australia so boring like what are we even doing are you trying they don't have an Australian punner I'm just saying weak sauce uh so yeah so um and then again the question is will they return a punt uh from Brett dorson doubt it uh and uh we'll have a hopefully we'll have a a good payday that's kicking lot of extra points for us yeah seriously cool all right um anything else or you wanna you want to hit the listener questions I mean no I'm I'm like I said I think that uh I think that the like I said the biggest thing about this game is going to be how good is is their quarterback going to be and I haven't seen enough body of work based off of some of the processing that I saw um I think uh Brooks Austin was doing some film review stuff with Clemson and he was really harpen on on his ability to read the defenses and read what was going on and and more importantly make the quick decisions on what you need to do and more often than not his decision making just seems really suspect so unless he's like uh the the r Riley as the as the offensive coordinator right this is this is his first year right I think this is year I think he went there last year this his year two he was there or yeah I'm pretty sure okay well you know unless he's just made you know impressive strides under under you know Riley kind of like a bobo unless he's a quarterback Whisperer you know kind of thing I don't I don't have a huge amount of confidence that he's made that big of an impact but you know could be wrong but like I said the way that Clemson's going to go is largely going to be defined by their quarterback yeah yeah that that defense defense will be good um but I think that uh I don't know it's it's going to be it's going to largely depend on on the quarterback play from from Clemson side yeah okay uh I did confirm firm Riley was at Clemson last year he went there in January 12th 2023 uh and he is the younger brother of Lincoln Riley so close we were in our normal and organ was in all green right so I am kind of I I guess guess Clemson wearing all weight makes it somewhat of a because this game usually does something so I I don't carryover from last week because we tabled it he said as 14o favorites uh although that has changed a little bit uh does the rat poison penetrate the mines of the dogs and effect preparation for Clemson what do you think JP uh I think that uh I've heard a lot of Kirby talking about this like the how do you how do you motivate these kids like how do you keep them hungry and that kind of stuff I'll tell you what um I heard that Dabo was interviewed today I didn't see the interview but I saw the the article um he said something about that they've been they've been blasting um they've been blasting you know our fight song basically yeah um he's been he's been blasting glory glory and um I guess that they're asking him about like why they were doing that and he's like we he basically said that we know that it's a neutral sight game but it's in Atlanta it's going to be like a home game for them we expect it to be pretty loud so like I think he's got like he's got them geared up for a chip on their shoulder type type game situation and um I'm just thinking like what would Kirby do on the opposite like I don't even know what Clemson's fight song sounds like I don't even know that that would be something that would annoy me but what would annoy me is listening to freaking daos swinny talk for any amount of time so if I were a Kirby I'd be blasting Davos swinny interviews on this at some point so he wanted to know um what kind of numbers does Beck need to put up to dominate the early season Heisman speculation and who do you think is going to be his go-to Target to help jump start the campaign the the only thing on that is like looking at I will say of recent years like the Georgia quarterback doesn't put up the kind of numbers that the Heisman Trophy winning quarterbacks put up um but I am curious that things could be changing now with the new 12 team playoff um also last time we recorded John the uh like you know the tiebreakers weren't out um um we talked about the SEC tiebreakers now this is this is a non-conference game that doesn't matter according but uh I will say in the conference games like there's a point where the tiebreakers could get to like Point differential against common opponents kind of thing so like when you're in League I don't think you can get mad about running up the score anymore um because that actually you could actually be in a scenario where scoring a lot of points and having a huge Point differential gets you into the SEC Championship Game Bas on tiebreakers so maybe our mindset changes there I honestly I think that's going to be the biggest thing is leaving him in the game and throwing the ball you know late in games when we're up up big because that's we is it Point differential against like certain opponents or is it overall point differential I have to go back through it I think it was like against like common opponents of who you're tied with kind of thing right so maybe that's an incentive for him to leave maybe it's an incentive for to leave Carson Beck in and a a little bit longer than he normally would for you know depending on the score line right like yeah if for blowing him out then he probably I don't know I I tend to air on the on the side of that Kirby Smart is not thinking about these things uh totally agree totally agree he's going to win the game and that's all he cares about he doesn't care about running up the score at least that's the that's the gist that we've seen the th far I don't expect that philosophy to change too drastically I figure maybe the only thing that might come into play there is later in the season if they you know if things are tighter you know at the top maybe but um generally speaking I think Kirby's only concerned with winning the game yep agreed as far as which Target I still I think it's got to be Dom love it so um that's my my pick I mean if if you had to if you had to put numbers on it though like if you wanted to say like what numbers does he need he needs to put up numbers that keep him on schedule to Target over 3,000 yards passing yeah like I would take maybe even like 4,000 yards passing with the extra games and stuff he just needs to stay in within Striking Distance um to stay on schedule at that kind of pace and so you'd be looking it like the Heisman does is handed out uh before the postseason though so oh man that's going to be weird now like cuz we don't have that way way way weird right we don't have that huge gap like we used to between the end of the regular season and the bowl games that playoffs starts right away so I'm actually curious to see how it happens with the Heisman playoff teams don't have time to be dealing with that anyways right ah everything is so different okay um I Hate Everything uh let's see Brian michelis see see the see the regular season does matter Jim it see Josh um Brian Michelle ask what true freshman do you think will have the most impact on this game um we talked about Nate Frasier is there anyone else that jumps out for you because I I I mean I sorry what was the question again fresh uh what freshman will have the most impact on this game like true freshman or I mean if you want to throw out a red shirt freshman I'm not going to penalize you I mean I think that Nate Frasier probably has the best um the best opportunity to to make an impact here yeah just because the running back depth is such a question the other one would be Anthony Evans okay we him yeah I guess he probably technically he probably could be red considered red sh freshman um right well around the defense what I I don't know about Ellis Robinson like K KJ Bal or KJ Balden yeah that would be yeah my guess yep um who was who was the defensive lineman impemba maybe so yeah and I you know I think he's a yeah but I mean and he's a you know he was here last year but didn't like hardly play it at all so I would say he's a rard freshman so yeah right um I hadn't heard much about him but I know Graham mentioned him the other day so um I brought his name up in in actually and we're on like the hour of mentioning Josh uh Josh and Chad have that Twitter space I I I brought up his name I was like you know is he somebody we could see and and Graham did mention that this week that um he's hearing good things about him so we'll see all right let's see uh Rambo Rambo and John Michael D have some like a wardrobe uh topic so Rambo said am I the only one wearing the same underwear all season and yes same shirt shorts socks Etc duh um I will say I I've let it known I have adopted what Hunter Jones taught me and that is I actually wear I never repeat so this way I don't have to for me it I like it because then I don't have to worry about um like is this one thing clean so that I wear it every game or whatever I I I don't do that I actually change every week I wear something different's at least one thing different and that incl that goes from it includes accessories by the way like hat Koozie you know things like that something different yeah I have I have simplified my attire for Georgia games I have a handful of poos that I really like and enjoy um I do have some black ones that I haven't sported yet because we haven't had a blackout yet so um but there's that um you know got some quarter Zips like I I I I have a very simple simple wardrobe yeah I find weapons develop on the wide receiver core because we've talked about this we've got so many weapons that we have to deploy like who is going to step up and take the place of Brock Bowers as the you what is what weirds me out is they're enclosed in glass and so I feel disconnected like I can't hear the crowd so but don't they have seats like right in front of the glass that you open the door like I didn't go out there you didn't the one that I went to I was inside the whole time I'll just say that um that's weird and I I don't like it it feels weird personally so that's where I was going to say for Mercedes-Benz I actually don't like are the Suites open are they closed in I'm assuming they're open um they're open so I'll go with the suite then because I want it open the other thing is 14 is what someone said in the question but it did move um and if it moved it may have moved again um but I didn't open I didn't open that link let me see yeah it's 13 and a half okay um with over under a 48 and2 I did it 49 so the so that would make Georgia like a it' be like 27 to 14 27 to 13 something like that um would be the implied score based on the over under and the and the spread um let's see their predicted score that may have changed so their the odd shock predicted score is 39 Georgia 39.2 to Clemson 23.8 um that's about the the the we've got I didn't I didn't do like the scoring impact just cuz we don't have any data yet this year um so yeah so that's that's kind of what we're what we're looking at actually the only other one I did find uh Parker Fleming uh stats a war he had uh where did he have it at let's see he had Georgia like 38 to 22 uh so that's what he had pretty close to the odd sharks yeah yeah I don't know maybe they have the same algorithm interesting all right so I don't know we've they've only beat us what was it 11 times since 19 Victory seems like statistically in our favor for sure right yeah um and we've we've played pretty well against them I I mean I I will say I would I would be surprised if it's as much of a defensive struggle as 2021 I do expect there to be more points more points than that um but I also have seen some people kind of like I think the kind of out there the analytics people are saying like Georgia wins fairly handedly the the question I saw there was like is it does Georgia jump on Clemson early like with Oregon two years ago or does Georgia kind of like pull away late kind of thing honestly I'm not sure I could I could see either way um but I think Kirby's got these guys he he's gonna have him ready to go he's gonna have him fired up um I mean I'm going back to what you said too like year two of Bobo and Beck uh Bobo is not breaking in a new quarterback uh that's exciting so I'm gonna go dogs um I'm gonna go 34 to 10 okay I like I like that score line uh I would be incredibly happy with that score line yeah so 34 to 10 okay um now you got me second guessing myself oh I didn't mean to do that you got me got me second these these 30 he close to 40 points on you know score lines versus what we did to them when we had like an all world team in 2021 yeah can I can I like make you feel a little bit better about that yeah we weren't playing the mailman I mean come on I mean obviously but like still here was thing uh also JT was playing hurt in that game uh that was lit literally Brock Bower's first game ever and lad makoni they had never played for George before Tate had like just gotten hurt we didn't know who was going to be you know offensive guard it was Cedric van pran first start at Center like there was a lot of breaking in going on and our receiver core was very depleted like ad Mitchell wasn't playing yet like the offense was uh it wasn't the same guys that were doing that stuff later in the season that played in that [Music] game I'm GNA go 36 to 22 okay yeah I'm good with that all right cool I like it um you know go in there into the bz come out of come out the other games um the coach had mentioned so his first one was Virginia Tech against Vandy that one is in Nashville at the Titans stadium um interesting yeah what's the is there like a significance there like what no it's just like a I don't know SEC ACC challenge or something I don't know they're probably playing there because Vander stadium is still under construction got him oh man can you imagine there's going to be like some really confused bachelorette parties in Nashville yeah feel like be playing inner Sandman like what's going on yeah seriously I mean obviously you got Virginia the third game of that triple header on ABC the ninth game Notre Dame against Texas andm um Notre Dame versus The Cult yeah Notre Dame is ranked seventh Texas same 20th yeah dude can we please like how how is Notre Dame ranked so high like what what did I what did I miss I don't know I don't get it I don't get it why are they ranked so high they have the transfer from duke a quarterback I mean when in history has that ever been a good thing I will say they this new playoff has set up very nicely for them I will say seriously like Notre Dame could just like Coast through beating up on everybody random like and just slide in right like as a because there's top rank top rank group of five right yeah I mean they exactly yeah so let's say they let's say they run the table right so then they're probably probably the five seed that's the highest they can get if they get that five seed then yeah then they then they open with home game against the 12 seed which is either the top ranked group group probably the most likely will be the top the highest ranked group of five conference Champion most likely then uh you know you win that then you get the four seed so which could be like a big 12 or ACC champ right because they've got to be a conference champ again that's not going to be one of these at large teams that got in um so I feel like that's a pretty sweet setup the five seed is a good the five seed is a good is a good spot to be in if you didn't play in a conference Championship game so interesting who you got in that game Jim oh man I don't know so Mike Elco new coach at A&M um I guess I'll go ner Dame like I don't see why they're ranked so high but I don't I don't know that A&M is ready to like hit the ground running right the bat with new coach right where's that one of it's one of these kickoff games have we have has there always been a kickoff game in the Raiders stadium because there's always been a kickoff game in the in the D well that stadium is only like this is only like year two of that Stadium's existence so not aware of I don't recall there being one there last year but yeah got it so yeah I would expect that to be a new that's going to be a whole new thing games being played there so cool all right that's that's what we got so uh you enjoy got we have some other games that are out there too right uh Florida State Boston College is Florida State going to start the season 0 and too oh man I don't think so that then that game is Monday so that's a Monday night game I do remember there was a lot of talk about like Florida state was going to stay an extra day after the game against Tech so they could do sightseeing because like they didn't have a game on Saturday they didn't play again until Monday I W I mean I guess they still stayed and did that but man brutal um I'm going to say yes I don't know anything about Boston College um so I'm win a say bounceback game for Florida State and they take care business Monday night a bounceback game yeah that that said it would be hilarious to just see a complete meltdown of Florida State again oh I mean that would dude if they lose this game that would be crazy that be crazy I I I'm still of the opinion that Norvell is like I I feel like that norell is like a successful version of um what's his face at South Carolina Beamer Beamer Shane Beamer yeah totally blanked on uh
