BUT THE QUAKE WAS REPORTED AS A MAGNITUDE 4.9 WITH THE DEPTH OF JUST UNDER 5 MILES NOW LET'S SHOW YOU A MAP THAT GIVES YOU AN IDEA OF WHERE THE EPICENTER OF THIS QUAKE WAS THE U.S. GEOLOGICAL SURVEY SAYS IT HAPPENED AT 01:00PM ROUGHLY 30 MILES NORTH EAST OF BARSTOW IN SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY. IT WAS FIRST REPORTED AS A MAGNITUDE 5.1 BUT QUICKLY DOWNGRADED FROM THAT SCIENTISTS LOOK AT SIMILAR EVENTS WITH A MAGNITUDE 4 IN GREATER WITHIN ABOUT A 6 MILE SPAN OF THEIR THEY SAY THEY'VE HAD 22 SIMILAR INCIDENTS SINCE 1932, THE LARGEST BEING A MAGNITUDE 5.3 QUAKE IN 97. NOW WE JUST HAVE THE CHANCE TO SPEAK TO UC RIVERSIDE, PROFESSOR OF SEISMOLOGY GARRETT FUNDING WHO WEIGHED IN ON WHAT THIS COULD MEAN. >> IT'S NOT A VERY BIG EARTHQUAKE IN THE GRAND SCHEME OF THINGS IOT ABOUT SO WILL BE FELT REASONABLY, BUT IT WON'T CAUSE MUCH DAMAGE REGIONALLY ONE THING WE SHOULD BE CAREFUL OVER IS TO DISMISS THE.
