well one woman is helping to bring more than 400 people to this Saturday's Hawkeye football game KCRG tv9 Abigail curtain spoke with Ashley Hall to learn what drove her to take on such a task the wave it's one of the most beloved traditions in college sports but for Ashley Hall and her son James they've only seen it from behind Hospital glass and after discovering this was the reality for many families at stead family children's hospital she decided to do something they had mentioned that they' never had the opportunity to wave from inside kinck and it kind of just started from there in April Hall started hello from the other side it's a fundraising effort to help bring 78 kids with cancer and their families to the Iowa football game on September 14th hello from the other side isn't a tax deductible nonprofit so she couldn't find many businesses to partner with until she spoke with Dolph Spar in debuk so what we do is we call a guest bartending we we let them set up here put their tip jars out and then she her her husband and then some family members they bartend here we kind of show them the ropes you know we collect the money and then all the money raised that day goes to them in the last month Hall raised $4,000 from guest bartending and over $6,000 from selling T-shirts with Cottonwood custom te's and with individual donations she made the roughly $117,000 it cost to send over 400 people to the game there's a day where you don't think you'll ever get out of the hospital being from the stands and looking back is almost like they might still be fighting cancer but it's like they conquered it in a special way but the work isn't done yet she's now trying to raise funds to do it again next year though after seeing the response from communities across Eastern Iowa she's hopeful she can do it again there's a really bad side to cancer and there's a really good side to cancer and the good side is to be a part of people who care in debuk Abigail curtain KCRG tv9 News oh
