[Music] [Applause] [Music] welcome back to the tofy blues Your source for all things Everton I'm olly Hayes and today I'm bringing you my initial thoughts from Everton 2 bourma 3 at goodon Park on Saturday so yeah let's get straight into it let's just try and dive straight into this reaction and I'll start with the positives because there is a few from the game you know contrary to popular Lea there was a few positives from this game and the first half I thought we were okay you know didn't really te them few decent chances here and there but I thought it was a relatively even game but you know I certainly didn't think we were in danger of conceding to Bournemouth I don't think they had really a clear-cut chance in that first half and you know a few decent chances keer was made to work in the Bournemouth goal a couple of times and ilman was very unlucky not to to put us ahead in that first half with a with a low shot from a corner just you know bouncing in between the legs of keer so know there's a few decent chances there we we did try and carve them open a couple of times but you know we just didn't really bear the fruits for our labor but know at halime I'm thinking you know we can we can definitely still win this there's still definitely room for improvement but we are the better side we should be you know flying out the blocks into the second half and trying to carve Bournemouth open again and to be honest that's what we did second half we came out flying you know really positive I was you know quite happy with us coming out when of I was quite happy with the way we came out at halim really positive creating chances um and I thought we'd actually turned the corner to be honest obviously you know we've not had the easiest of of runs from the start of the Season playing bright and playing in Spurs you know their games that you know on paper would we be would we be winning them you know in a normal season I'm not so sure maybe Brighton you look at that as a as a game that you can win but Spurs is a tough place to go but you know in the Bournemouth game I'm thinking you know if we we turn the corner and really come out the blocks flying in the second half hopefully we can put a couple past them and yeah as I said before I was I was happy with the way we came out from from the second half and as as we've saw um Michael Keane made us take the lead to a great finish with his right foot into to ke's right hand side of his goal and it was it was a great finish it was a it was a really good goal pretty well worked obviously it was nice and composed from Keen in the Box you know he finished it more like a striker than a center off and a lot of people have been calling for for Keen to maybe start higher up the pitch and he he showed that he does have that finishing ability there but that being said I was you know hoping that we would carry on try and twist the screw a little bit more and try and score again and that's what we did through Dominic carv lein a great bit of instinct from Dominic car lein in behind and you know he chipped it over kapper and and put us tun a up you know forgive me for not being too Overjoyed about this goal obviously it's a player that there's there's Rumblings about his future with Everton is he going to still be an Everton player come January or or next summer is he going to sign a contract forgive me for being not overly joyed with this goal obviously it's it's great to see him on the score sheet and it's great to to see at the time it's great to see us go two up but obviously I'm I'm a little bit skeptical if he is going to stay Beyond January and obviously I personally would have rather seen Betto start today but you know there is an argument to suggest would Betto have scored that maybe not OB he's a different kind of player but it was a good instinctive finish a good chip from Dominic caral nevertheless and it saw us go two up now from then on it it went downhill didn't it unfortunately it massively went downhill this game and the difference for me was Bournemouth made five changes before we even made our first substitution that for me is the difference you could see the players were flagging you look at Tim arunam he was flagging and he had to be honest he had a fantastic game I was really really pleased with Tim arunam he had a really good performance but on 70 minutes obviously he he's a young player he's not really got the match sharpness of say an Adisa garna gay or a Dominick carv Leen for example he hasn't got that match sharpness because he's been playing in the lower leagues you know the intensity is a little bit less than what it is in the Premier League so you can forgive him for maybe being a little bit off the pace and a little bit off sharpness you know in his first three Everton starts in the Premier League that being said dce should have realized that and he should have made the change then he didn't do that he let Bournemouth make five changes and those changes completely change the game for me you know Dango Atara Scott are two top players that bour have brought on Off the Bench and it completely changed the game and I know there is a case to be saying that the squad isn't good enough for Everton and we don't have those options to bring Off the Bench that's fine but you bring on Fresh legs when you see it's not working you see there's there's an issue you know bring on a James Garner for example bring him on bring on the fresh legs we didn't do that and da again you know he was out coached by Iola there in that second half for me obviously it was nice to see us go tunel up but you know from that what do we do it seems to be long ball once again our only um sort of way of creating chances and way of going forward is long balls forward and try and win knockdowns and that's fine if you have you know a plan B we don't have a plan B and that's why I sort of said the line about Shawn D being out coached today because he was Iola completely out coached him made five substitutions and those five substitutions changed the game for me and you know from then on the rest was history we absolutely capitulated from the 85th minute onwards we absolutely capitulated subbing off ilman and ji he was our best player by an absolute mile was a really poor decision for me that was a really shocking decision now it's the international break next week ilman andj has not got a lot of match sharpness he's not played a lot of minutes what would an extra of 10 minutes done done for Lan and J you know he's got a week off next week I'm not sure he's you know I haven't seen the senal squad so I'm not 100% sure if if he's been selected or called up but you know we've got an international break coming up utilize the squad that we've got but also utilize your best players he's our best player on the pitch he was absolutely fantastic today El man andji and dice subed him off for abdad dor and for me it felt like he was playing his favorites once again you know he he was itching all game to maybe bring on abdala dor just because it's one of his favorites and it's a a man that's done him so well in recent seasons and that's fine but abdah Dori didn't pull up any trees when he came on he looked absolutely awful he looked completely off the pace and for me that that is a main reason as to why we got beat we had ilman Andi as that outlet he had the pace he had the the direct running and it was really helping us the second he took him off it looked like we lost all ability to go forward and then you know the onslaught happened for Bournemouth and they got that first one and then your heads go down don't you 2-0 is a very dangerous score line for me and once that first goal went in from anwan meno at the back post you you do fear the worst and I I did turn to the the people in front of me and said I won't be surprised if this if this ends 2 two I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if it ends 22 and you know it it actually materialized that it was even worse we ended up losing 3-2 and that collaps to concede three goals in 9 minutes that collapsed for me as on the manager the in-game management was not good enough and you know you can blame the players all you want the players have to take some responsibility you know they're the 11 that are on the pitch at the time they have to try and stay defensively solid but you know when they're being told what to do by a manager that has no plan B once you concede that first goal you have to try and carry on with the tactics that the manager's given you you know you're going to struggle unfortunately and that's exactly what we did we conceded three identical goals we didn't learn from the first one we didn't learn from the second one three crosses into the box and we've conceded three goals and thrown away three valuable points especially when our next away game is Aston Villa you know it's it baffles me and I do really worry for D now unfortunately and I've I've said this you know for me the the biggest turning point last season was the Chelsea game where we lost six nil I I thought D would go that evening I was quite critical of him after that game d stayed he managed to Rally the players and and got the players on side tonight can he do that I'm not so sure but obviously the ownership situation Everton and everything that's going on behind the scenes can we sack Shawn D do we even have the money to sack Shawn D I'm not so sure also so I think it's very worrying times forev at the moment because we're stuck in a little bit of limbo we have a manager that's very reluctant to change he's he's you know quite stubborn and and set in his ways and and doesn't really take on criticism very well and but we also have a board situation which is pretty non-existent we don't really have a key figure that can make the call and and Sack Shawn di so you know we are in D Straits unfortunately and hopefully the if da does say in this International break we can rally the troops try and you know get the squad back together and just go back to square one and try and start a fresh in September but it is very worrying I think he's made one too many bad decisions this evening and and especially especially the the way we played against bourma feir can he survive it I'm not so sure but let me know your thoughts in the comments let me know your thoughts on the game do you think that you know we were a little bit unlucky to to fall behind lateer on do you think it was you know on the players more was it on dce I personally think dice has to take the the bulk of the criticism for this one along with the players you know the players do have to take some criticism but D for me has got it very wrong this afternoon and I'd be very very worried going into the international breaking and after but let me know your thoughts in the comments let me know your thoughts on the defeat make sure you like comment subscribe and I'll speak you soon [Applause]
