[Music] he Des congratulations on this wonderful and Epic film thank you so much and thank you for speaking to Nova Cinema Greece with pleasure what was the most exciting and what was the most challenging part of playing such an iconic character in an Epic movie like this uh there's a lot of excitement because you have to play innocence Madness and uh and Injustice of course and uh you feel like you got to play a hero but also the devil and also someone who's getting obsessed seeking for vengeance of course there's so many things like pure love and pure hate you go into the best and the worst of humankind uh through all of this so that was the most exciting for me was the the the different uh scenes and and feelings that the character is going through of course I I grew up knowing the book then discovering the book myself when I was uh maybe 16 and it was a real discovery of like oh wow a book can be that entertaining and that crazy and that good uh I I was waking up at night to read more and more and it was a real page Turner I discovered that that was the first time of my life with this book so it was it was a real present to be yeah he was so precious to be able to to play this character I felt [Music] blessed the creators of the movie admit that you were their number one and only choice for the part that's what they say to play The Count of Monte Cristo because they needed someone handsome and mysterious dark and melancholic was it flattering or did it create an extra pressure for you no did choose me so I was like apparently they know what they're doing too bad for them if it's if it's not good no I wasn't putting too much pressure on myself also because I'm I'm getting old I'm older okay let's put it that way I'm older now I'm 35 got two kids I've learned to relax about what people could expect from me could expect from uh the adaptation of a book they might have loved so now I'm like like we're giving we propose something you may like it or not I think the pressure should be on the work and not on something that I don't control so we put the pressure on the choreography of battles horse riding how did you prepare for the action scenes and how much time did you spend at the makeup room every day uh action scenes it was of course choreography was like the stuntman so we've seen them a lot but the the guy I've seen more than my own family and I know better than my dad now is the makeup artist Pi Olivier pan I love him I hated him and I loved him again we did 150 hours of makeup in the same chair for 80 Days on 80 Days of shooting and it was Insanity we were the first on set sometime arriving in humongous castles beautiful but cold and arriving first it was dark night and in the middle of the night we're starting to put like all different chemicals on my face to to just like put like pieces of uh proc it was nuts and at the same time that was the whole thing about the project we wanted to go really deep in this to make it believable that that nobody recognize the C of monteo edmon ones 15 years after he been in jail and to be believable we needed that kind of transformation physically and that we are the first adaptation of the of Monte chisto to go that far and to do this real transformation for monteo [Music]
