SOUTH CAROLINA South Carolina you know what you see and what was that moment like it was a dream come true for sure um I've always had dreams about like growing up like scoring a big touchdown in a close game like that so uh just the lineman they I think they're one of the best in the nation and they just blocked it perfectly and I came untouched into the community I believe you're a New Mexico State WHY DID YOU GIVE UP A FULL-RIDE SCHOLARSHIP AT NM ST TO BE A WALK-ON AT UGA commit before flipping to Georgia what went into the decision to kind of pass up what I would presume would be a full ride scholarship to come here to walk home um can you repeat that so you passed up a full ride in New Mexico state to come here to walk on what made you want to do that uh coach McGee he uh he did a good job throughout my recruitment process he um he called me quite a bit um he said that scholarship spots were full and I felt like I had the best opportunity to really Grill uh more into my full potential here so it's definitely one of the best decisions I've ever made and I couldn't do more blessed to be in this situation TALK ABOUT DAIJUN EDWARDS JOURNEY of DeJean Edwards of course had himself a game in South Carolina from your perspective in the running back room how did you see him and kind of approach having to wait and work up to that moment slowly oh I would say it's kind of like what I'm having to do it's uh I'm in Georgia was a recruit great backs we uh are always pushing for the best and DeJean is a great running back and I can't wait to see what he does in the future cash uh how big were you when you got WHAT WAS YOUR SIZE WHEN YOU CAME TO UGA AND WHAT ARE YOU NOW here to Georgia and just how how much what have you put on how much bigger have you gotten since you've been in the park uh I like to say I'm six foot but uh I'm actually about five eleven and a half so I just kind of rounded up but I came in at about 165 and I'm sitting around 183 but I'm still trying to gain as much weight as I can to carry you from Texas right yes sir I'm just ANY FOOTBALL IN YOUR FAMILY GROWING UP wondering you've got to be football in your family from somewhere is there football in your family or Athletics of any sort uh no sir my brother he was two years older than me his name's Tripp he uh he always was playing sports and I just always wanted to do what he was doing and that's what I did all throughout high school and growing up was just played all the sports that I could even think of OTHER SPORTS THAT YOU PLAYED IN HIGH SCHOOL you play Four Sports in high school is that right oh yes sir tell me about the other three and what was your second best sport or of course football uh I would say football was my best sport uh my freshman year of high school I was on varsity baseball and then a junior sophomore year I uh was on Varsity track and junior year I was on varsity basketball and but I think baseball was my second best for sure oh yes sir actually one state my senior year yes sir yes I talked to Cody Worrell and he talked about you know at the end the practices you haven't played Knuckles WHERE DOES YOUR TOUGHNESS COME FROM you've taken all these carries and games where did that toughness he thought come from to just go out there and grind it out and play like you did I don't know I might have to say my brother again he uh him and his friends they're always two years older than me so they're always kind of roughing up on me and they really made me tough and I feel like it kind of helps with being my size and running the ball at this level yeah so after you score on Saturday a DID YOU HEAR FROM YOUR BROTHER AFTER THE LAST GAME big game obviously a big moment from you did you hear from your brother afterwards how often do you talk to your brother during the week um I talked to him at least two to three times a week whether it could be just like seeing how my day was or how you're feeling if you got an extra bruise or anything but he uh he definitely in the locker room actually he uh he called me or I saw that I had a missed call and I talked I called him back and he's just pumped up trip t-r-i-p-p you said being this size and running the HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR MINDSET ball in SEC level what does that take what kind of mindset and how would you describe your skill set I would say that um it should be tough it's a it's a hard game it's you gotta be really tough honestly I thankfully you haven't really gotten hit very hard um but I try to avoid like the big hits but playing it smarter like trying to make a mess or something but that's what I try to do okay it's going back to uh last season TALK ABOUT LAST SEASON’S TD VS.
