Tonight, our 11 live weather impact team is tracking scattered showers and storms as we kick off the Labor Day Weekend and take a look at this new video. We just got into our newsroom minutes ago from North Druid Hills. Rain certainly coming down hard there. We can hear it coming down hard in our studios here in midtown. We've been hearing that thunder as well and Melissa, you've been busy tracking this all over me. A lot of big cracks of thunder out there, cracks of lightning and rumbles of thunder. We've had a couple of severe storms as well. They caused trees that came down in Cherokee County. A big tractor trailer got struck by lightning up near Bartow and Gordon counties in Adairsville. But here in the metro, that's where the most immediate concern is. Right now. I'm tracking two separate thunderstorms, one in kind of South Fulton County. We're going to head up here to the north though, into dekalb County, northern Fulton County and also when that county, a lot of heavy rain and lightning with this, we two separate cells that kind of merged at this point so that heavy rainfall stretching from Sandy Springs all the way down into North Cross and look up into Gwinnett County through Adams crossing the North Cross area, 85 and Buford Highway, traveling south and then really heavy rain on top of Shamley right now, all the way down to kind of almost to the downtown connector. All right, let's travel south and west of downtown and this is in the South Fulton County. You can also see right over here through East Point, the Ben Hill. We've got more heavy rain and lightning there. And that stretches up in the Douglas County as well to Douglasville along I 20. So that's the biggest cluster of storms right now. A lot of our other activity is starting to calm down. That's great news. And I do expect the later in the evening we go, the fewer and fewer storms, we're going to see the man when these storms pop up, they turn in tents in a hurry in some locations. This is a live, look at our camera on top of north side hospital, you can't even see half a mile of distance. That rain is coming down so heavy. Rest of this evening we have a level one for weather for northeast Georgia. Really, anywhere in the metro, we can see those gusty winds. I expect storms to start winding down after sunset tonight. And then for tomorrow, we will start the day storm free that will not last forever. We'll talk about the timing of your Saturday storms and for the rest of the weekend in just a bit.
