now that the top eight is a top six there are now only nine possible combinations for the Grand Final so I thought let's take all nine of those combos and rank them how fun it would be for the neutral supporter to enjoy them and whilst my club is still in the running for a Grand Final spot I have tried to keep this as unbiased as possible so keep that in mind so if you like the video like the video subscribe to join the D talks footy family and let's rank every possible remaining Grand Final combination at number nine I've got Port Adelaide taking on gws and to be honest this is purely and simply because there just wouldn't be a whole lot of like joy and rivalry and neutral love and emotional investment into this a match up what's the positive out of port playing the Giants from a neutral point of view yeah sure you've got Port going for their second flag in 20 years gws's possibility of a first ever flag is still really cool and I think the team that most neutrals would support but I think going into the game there wouldn't be a whole lot of I think excitement and and and giddiness I guess around this kind of lineup and it's not that they're too in State teams by the way this is not an a VCT a pro Victorian or anything like that it's just out of all nine combinations left it's not that inspiring of a matchup and I think most neutrals wouldn't be pulled in either direction I think it would be majority gws here so it sits at number nine for that reason and number eight I've got Port Adelaide versus jalong just because the first time they played in the finals it was an absolute smacking now off the top of my head I can't remember a time where a team smacked another team in the finals and then they turned around and won the flag in the top eight current system it happened a lot in the vfl I wouldn't say a lot but it's happened in the vfl times and even jalong in 1989 who lost by ESS and by a lot and then kicked their ass two weeks later they didn't go on to win the Grand Final and the Grand Final wasn't against Esson but in this top modern system it doesn't really happen all that much and I don't really see how Port Adelaide would be able to reverse everything that they did against the cats the 2007 rematch I suppose makes it a little interesting but in all honesty given how that qualifying final went that 119 Point margin in ' 07 would be under threat if both of these teams were 95% of what they were in week one so it would just be a bit of a weird lineup I mean Port Adela would go into that game having beaten Hawthorne and Sydney so you wouldn't be able to to deny their form but I just don't think this would be that particularly interesting or likely so that's why it ends up in the number eight spot could be a bit stiff here and sorry to Port Adelaide but Port Adelaide Brisbane is the other combination that I'm going for here 20 years since the infamous oall Grand Final with aliser Lynch and Wakeland punch on you've got the inan ability of the bergoin brothers and baron picket and Gavin wanging absolutely tearing up that Grand Final and the 20 years has got a really nice ring to it absolutely and I really like brisbane's form coming in I don't think the Giants is a good matchup for them but still I'm not saying they definitely going to lose in that game at all and I understand the mert behind it I just genuinely believe there would be no excitement around Port Adelaide making the granny this year from a neutrals point of view part of it because it does seem so impossible coming from the 84 Point afor mentioned margin but again Port Brisbane whoever Lo losers is going to be kind of like well do they have the right coach rather than celebrating the winners which is what I think Grand Final should be about so it ends up here sorry Port fans don't hate me but if you haven't already subscribe why not and number six I've got Hawthorne playing Brisbane this would be really interesting for a couple of reasons Fagen against Hawthorne's an interesting storyline the Hawks did beat Brisbane earlier in the year but Brisbane W nowhere near really as good as as they are now and was kind of brisbane's last loss until they went on their run that the draw against adelay the buy then they've been the best team in the competition since then along with the Hawks who have had only a 1.2 point and then the smacking against the cats in their run home so in terms of form couldn't ask for two more inform teams I like the Fagan storyline as well um but that's about it for this one to be perfectly honest so it'll sit here at number six there are just way too many good story lines in the run home for this to be any higher as a Hawthorne fan of course I would love for us to make it but I am making this as little as Pro doz Hawthorne as I can so number six Hawthorne Brisbane number five Sydney Brisbane here for again a couple of reasons the first major one is that these game plans on the MCG would be really intriguing to watch we don't really see Brisbane all that much of the MCG Sydney not really at the MCG and given Sydney lost to Richmond at the MCG this year that makes it really interesting these two played in an epic encounter up at the gabber not too long ago what a game that was and if they can deliver something Brisbane in terms of that result versus their last Grand Final of course being last year adds up to being a really juicy lineup really cohesive with 2024 and their game styles of course Brisbane will play gws for the right to play jalong so Brisbane would be going into that game with MCG form cuz they'd have to beat the cats to get there so spicy spicy spicy we like spicy number four Hawthorne versus gws and the reason is kind of like Sydney Brisbane in the fact there were as an epic encounter except there were two both Hawthorne jws games were tight they were close it would be pretty epic to be like Hawthorne fans of course it would be amazing to get there and and hath onto the vibe team of the competition as we know um so when you've got that combination along with gws's first flag people would be sick of Hawthorne success so they would get on to the Giants both teams in terms of I would probably say with Brisbane and Sydney as well in terms of watchability incredible and that's no disrespect to jalong I do not mean that in a disrespectful way at all so odds are it would be a really good game the Sam frost injury sucks and what that means for Jesse Hogan means the gws would be favorites going into that game you would suspect but it would be awesome it really would and if the two games or anything to go by we would be set for a Heart Stopper so that can belong right here at number four number three I've got Sydney versus jalong the most likely given that they're the two that won the qualifying finals but the 2022 rematch could Sydney get over those mental scars Sydney again finishing on top of the ladder so the best team in it makes a lot of sense the way they were able to get over the Giants in that last quarter means they'll be super dangerous Jal Long's form would be epic awesome John Longmire who's now had three grand finals in a row where his team has nowhere near performed up to standard so Chris Scott would hopefully be able to take advantage of that from the jalong point of view I love everything about this kind of matchup it would be awesome it would be epic does the MCG favor jalong a lot potentially it could and jalong fans would probably petition the game to be down at Cadia park that's fair enough although Sydney have got a really good record down there so maybe the G is the option and if you can't seep the sarcasm from my voice or if you can't tell that my voice is seeping with sarcasm I should say um I don't know what to tell you the Grand Final will be at the G I know that okay but Sydney jalong would be pretty cool so if you're keeping track at this point as to what number two and what number one are I'm B basically asking what would be more interesting the past or the present and I'm actually going to give it to the present so number two is going to be the past Hawthorne versus jalong yes both Victorian teams yes the rivalries 8908 the 2013 prelim all of it is awesome the 2,000 elimination final which no one ever talks about also exist there that was the first final ever at Colonial Stadium I believe so there you go and the Hawks got up e guilty just don't ask us what happened against North next week at the G however everyone knows about this rivalry the thing that kind of stops it from being at number one as well is the fact that these two games combined were like 87 points which is not great and jalong being two and zip so that's part of it and again the past rivalry is really cool both Victorian teams going into it has a factor for the neutrals given the Victorian love I suppose I but two inter state teams are the number one so hold your horses there guys anything you can think of that would make jalong and Hawthorne epic I completely agree with you Chris Scott V Sam Mitchell is just awesome uh Patty Dangerfield going for another Premiership because he is quite polarizing as a player and I'm a Hawks fan and knowing how nervous I would be against jalong I think tells me just how epic this would be compared to the other teams that we can play in the granny so Hawthorne jalong at number two which means at number one the battle of the bridge Sydney versus gws rematch do I need to really explain this the fact that it's the battle of the bridge the fact they've just played in an epic final that was a goal the difference the fact that they hate each other it's not quite Showdown worthy of hatred yet and they are a lot closer than I think the Derby's are in terms of quality of teams so you've kind of got a really good mix here the ground I think would favor the Giants a little bit the expansive running guys like Errol golden would need to play really really well the runners Matt Roberts Braden Campbell these guys would really have to stand up in a big way Jake Lloyd who was epic throughout the qualifying final but in terms of a neutral fan as an unbiased as I can be I think a battle of the bridge Grand Final would just about set this town on its head considering your traditional Rivals calling Carlton Essen and Richmond are not there so an absolutely epic Clash between two awesome teams who have just played off in an epic game I don't think it gets better than that so there are my rankings for all nine possible Grand Final combos
