and they're taking it to Vegas for Super Bowl 58 feels like yesterday and by the way it's one week until the kickoff of the NFL season Chiefs Ravens kicks off a week from tonight woo I can't wait all right the raving super raining Super Bowl champions made some changes to their wide receiver room the chief signing Maris Brown to a one-year deal hoping to get some big plays at wide out he had eight catches over 20 yards last season uh they also got Xavier worthy who is a big deal drafted a speed through there he's had a scouting combine record of 4.21 in the 40- yard dash time and then uh cadarius Tony was waved by Kansas City Tony of course helped the Chiefs win Super Bowl 57 with that 65 yard punt return late in the game but struggled last season catching just 27 passes while dropping five and then Juju Smith shoer a familiar face returning to the team after being in New England last season he had over 900 receiving yards with Kansas City in 2022 a small piece of clarity today by the way as uh spokesman for the NFL Brian McCarthy said they did not expect to place Rashi rice on the commissioner's exempt list before week one unless there was a material change in the legal case against him which means he would be available for this game uh Dan with more Playmakers for Patrick Mahomes what can we expect this offense to look like me speed uh you know that was the the big issue last year there wasn't a ton of vertical speed obviously the drops in the penalties but the addition of like Laura talked about Hollywood Brown and really Xavier Worthy is a big deal so the Chiefs notoriously have liked to get into a formation when Travis Kelce lines up by himself on one side of the field in the motion live in the world of a Tyreek Hill Xavier worthy now across the field so a couple things number one when they put Kelsey by himself it's information for Patrick Mahomes okay he's going to have a safety lined up over him Patrick immediately knows man coverage now again they used to send Tyreek in motion now it's Xavier worthy the defender runs with them again another indicator that they're in man coverage and very simply put what they do is they tell Patrick this hey Patrick with Kelsey down here if there's going to be two Defenders that really shade that side well back in the day it would be Tyreek Hill I want you to go deep in some capacity and since they're double teaming Kelsey you get one-on one use your speed this time it's Xavier worthy they're going to double team Kelsey essentially this safety is going to lean a little bit and all of a sudden Xavier worthy has speed down the field as both of these Defenders are really attached to Travis Kelce big play down the field that's what they were lacking last year then they would use Tyreek to gather or bring eyes to him again zavier worthy at the bottom of screen right here they're going to go play action this is going to be Justin Watson sitting I want everyone to watch how many people in sets of eyes are paying attention to Xavier Worthy on the play action pass he's going to push vertical downfield when you look at this defense right now I see one two three people for really one Xavier worthy so now all that's left for Detroit is 1 two in the middle of the field defending 1 2 3 4 pass catching options all because zaver worthy has brought all those people down the field gaping holes in the Middle Field he could have thrown it to two people and there's those big gashes in their P game that used to be Tyreek Hill they didn't have that last year and so I think we'll see what happens with Hollywood his health but Xavier worthy and just the ability to vertically push down the field gives them the opportunity to get into that formation again and create matchups and just take shots down the field or make sure that everyone feels his speed pays attention to him and then they're going to have so many numbers advantages in zone coverage just as a football nerd I'm excited to see what this offense actually looks like Mina let's look specifically at next week's matchup because you know we can it's a week away now how do you think the new look offense find success against the Ravens defense yeah it's funny because I everything Dan said is so important and the way that that speed is going to open up the underneath passing game is really uh significant I think for the Kansas City Chiefs but when we're talking about the Baltimore Ravens in particular I actually think they're going to come out and play a lot of 12 and 13 personnel with multiple tight ends now worthy would be on the field with rice probably in that scenario um in part because the Ravens defense as good as they were last year and they were arguably the best defense in the NFL they weren't always great at stopping the Run especially when teams put multiple tight ends on the field actually against 12 personnel which the Chiefs use a great deal they had the fifth worst success rate in football against the run and I think if the Chiefs come out uh in 12 13 Personnel if the Ravens counter that with nickel or dime they will happily run the ball if they play base meaning having multiple linebackers on the field they'll uh be happy to hunt mismatches and then of course the presence of worthy stretches them vertically in a way that compromises them it just introduces new spatial issues for defense that was very good at solving them last year but a little bit soft against the Run yeah going to be different too without Mike McDonald who of course now is the coach of the Seahawks go ahead yeah and MK like that second clip that I just showed that Justin Watson almost like deep in deep hook that was actually out of 12 Personnel so they can can get into those multiple tight end Personnel packages and still just because of Xavier or Hollywood still threaten you vertically and that's really when they were at their very best with Tyreek yeah that's that's really where Andy Reid wants to live oh it's almost time okay uh new on NFL live we brought you some of Dak Prescott's quotes earlier as he's speaking to the media right now maybe just finishing up then there's this Dak said quote I stopped honestly listening to things media a long time ago it doesn't really hold weight with me Mina when you see that and you hear that you think about everything going on with the Cowboys what do you think I think that it is absolutely the right approach to the things that Jerry Jones says to the media I mean that guy talks so much and he is so unlike any other owner in sports and half the things he says I don't even know if they we often see him contradict those things with his actions so for Dak I I I know it sounds I don't know maybe a little bit flip and obviously Jerry is the owner of the team in the GM but frankly I think he's well within his rights to put it that way and that was in response by the way to a quote uh where Jerry talked about Dak and what he's shown and honestly I felt that that was it came across as a little critical but I don't blame Dak one bit for this and I don't think it's going to impact their negotiations or lack thereof yeah see I would disagree with that so I I think Dak is probably one of the if not the best when it comes to handling press conferences that we have in the NFL Patrick certainly is up there as well he's essentially Flawless many of times MK second time this year that we've had a player I guess comment about some of the stuff that Jerry has said either directly or indirectly about them CD CD did the LOL on Twitter now Dak prescot's going I don't really pay attention to what he says and I like part of me goes I understand what you're saying that's like a no comment though right he's saying he doesn't pay attention yeah at some point don't everyone says never let it get emotional at some point it does like at some point he's a human being this is the second time he's kind of going through this in Dallas I I think we are on the precipice of what could be the star part of one after the other insightful comments from Dak Prescott and here's why he is going to be an unfettered free agent who is second in MVP voting and the last time he bet on himself he got hurt and still got paid he really doesn't have to care what Jerry Jones or anyone else thinks because he's going to be paid by fill in the blank the giant doesn't it become personal then like doesn't it become a little bit less business and more like d we've all been in those situations where we say things just to get through a press conference he doesn't have to do that anymore still the leader of the team all I'm saying is he could be much more authentic and that's why I'm saying like what he just said to like when you really think about what he just said I think that was a little bit more authenticity than it was more of just speaking in sound bites yeah I mean I I just went back to CD he said LOL when Jerry kind of you know he came across as dismissive talking about him in the same way that I think you could interpret his comments about deck which is what deck's referring to and then Dan a contract got done these guys know that Jerry the media figure has pretty much nothing to do with Jerry the GM at least based on how these things have played out with Dallas and that's how I read this comment DX saying whatever he's saying whatever he wants to say what happens behind closed doors has absolutely nothing to do with that that's fair that's fair I just think it's the second time and we all knew the CD deal was going to get done like we yeah that would never felt in question at all at some point it was going to get this one does feel very much own question and like and we know the probably the main reason why it hasn't gotten done along with Mike McCarthy's is because of the lack of playoff success but here's one thing I would say guys Jerry Jones comports himself in this world as I am a billionaire I have leverage this is the one time guys he does not have leverage because Dak Prescott can walk out the door as an unfettered free agent he's gonna make 60 million no matter what right and he may say you know what I want to go try someplace new and that's why to me this Dynamic is so fast all right just a quick reminder too of just this week Jerry said that hey Dak may have to do more with less because I haven't really surrounded him with a whole lot kind of putting some pressure on Dak there that was earlier oh yeah yeah you've been off a little bit Dan but that that happened earlier this week and then also Dak just saying earlier in this press conference that you know if the deal doesn't get done before the season it may show how some people feel I think that's fascinating because that timeline feels a little bit quicker than we thought all right coming up the decision it's jacobe brassette with this team is not a team that's ready to right now you have a real possibility of breaking something that could be your franchise for the next decade oh we'll get to the Patriots quarterback situation in a moment but coming up on NFL live Brandon iuk wasn't at practice again today GM John Lynch showed some frustration yesterday and what has become a saga in San Fran the latest there plus where do we stand with the Jamar Chase contract situation head coach Zack Taylor spoke today we'll bring you that plus why someone here thinks the panic button and ceny will be hit weak too they play the Chiefs then they don't have their St wide out on the field we're so glad you're with us today Dan rovski is here Mike tanon bomb as well we got a lot to get to including some pizza debates later don't miss that Mina K will join us yeah love P you lost a bet that's why we're talking about it live reports from the Patriots and Bengals coming your way we begin in New England where Gerard Mayo named jacobe brasset the starter over rookie quarterback Drake may now he has credited May without playing brassette but this feels like maybe a long term play in a lot of ways here's more from Mayo on the decision yeah there are a lot of factors uh that led to this choice I think you know the hard part is thinking in the short term and the long term at the same time um as an organization though we feel like jacobe gives us our best chance to win right now I don't I don't want to get into hypotheticals um you know we can't go into the season saying well he's going to go x amount of weeks like look as long as jaob is going out there performing the way that we all have confidence in in him doing uh he'll be quarterback this season we now welcome in Patriot supporter Mike Ree and Mike you've been right there for all of training camp we now finally have this decision what's the reaction in the locker room to the quarterback news this was the expectation here in Foxboro I'll take you right inside the Patriots locker room when reporters were in there late this morning jacobe brassette was waiting for us he talked about how meaningful it is for him to be named the starter he also praised Drake May saying he's light years ahead of where he was when he first got here said May came up to him and told him anything you need I'm here for you and brassette said that works both ways their lockers are right next to each other when brassette finished talking then may stepped in we just shuffled right over and may said he can look at it in two different ways the competitor in him would love to play but he understands that brassette has experience in this system and he's worked with the ones throughout training camp May saying I have no regrets I left it all out there Laura yeah Mike brasset will be a wonderful Mentor which is important here Mina Kim's now with us Dan do you like the decision to start toobe brasset over Drake May absolutely but I do want to give New England credit here because when an organization like sets a plan and there's a potential deviation from that plan Drake May's play in development and then the noise and then the pressure so often in this league teams give in and then all of a sudden it's like well we should not have so I want to give them credit for having the discipline to go about an executing this plan now the challenge is how disciplined will you be cuz I don't expect New England to be very good this year and the noise is going to not go away they're going to say at some point jacobe might not play as up to an expected level and they're not going to block and then all of a sudden the team isn't doing as well as they were hoping back end of October like Play Drake May no you are disciplined in August stay disciplined throughout the great majority of this season credit to them for pulling it off D Mayo the timeline marries there's no pressure to get that young man on the field and have to prove that you made the right pick it's going to be really important for them to have the long-term picture as the most important part when it comes to Drake May for the the great majority of this season I think what's going to be tricky Dan is if brassett struggles after a few weeks and there's pressure there's calls coming to start May a big part of why he will struggle probably will be the offensive line which was a big part of why you didn't start Drake May in the first place so the decision was difficult now it actually is going to be even more difficult further on and and to be clear it's one that I support I am usually in favor of young quarterbacks playing frankly but this is a unique situation because of the offensive line if we look back at the first round draft picks the quarterbacks taken who never developed a Common Thread with many of those quarterbacks especially in recent history is bad pass protection not just because it can be honestly unsafe but also because it can lead to bad habits dropping your eyes bailing on clean Pockets not trusting that your line will show up not trusting that you have time to go through your progression so keeping Drake May out of that situation if it is as bad as it seemed in the preseason it makes the world of sense to me but in a few weeks if this offense struggles that's when the decision will get even more difficult I completely agree with Mina and Dan and Tam's point about pass protection let's just go back a youro guys Bryce young got hit way too many times and Anthony Richardson only lasted five games if the four of us were running the New England Patriots all we care about is is Drake May gray for the next 10 years not the next 10 weeks and to me the uncertainty of the offensive line you have a new head coach who is very inexperienced and you have a play caller who's never called plays so get the offensive line settled this is why you brought in jacobe brassette and a 78 games played just like a gardener muu type get things settled down and in six or seven weeks you can reevaluate things but to meus point a healthy Drake May at the end of this year is job number one for the Patriots Mike T so so as a general manager right it the perspective of Gerard Mayo being able to prove that he's capable of being a championship caliber head coach without high level quarterback play you know what I'm saying like the but but we live that with the Jets like we we started Rex Ryan and Mark Sanchez together and as rookies we got to the championship game but Mark played as a rookie right and you guys had an elite worldclass defense in remarkable Run game and I could have done a better job of having a better backup so maybe Mark didn't have to start from day one but you know what I'm asking can Gerard Mayo prove to New England and Elliott wolf or whoever's making the decision that I'm the right choice as the head coach without playing Drake May 100% I mean you know a good head coach when you see it in terms of how how he's U from a strategist the point personality or the team getting better penalties turnovers things like that are they a team that's hard to beat and they're just falling short in explosive plays and look there's a lot of teams playing the jacobe recet of the world like we've seen look go back to right now what's going on with the Raiders certainly you know when you look at the Saints we're not going to see high level quarterback play and those teams still could win games uh it's interesting too because you got to think they know what was already in place what they handed to Mayo the Patriots had the worst pass block win rate if you go specifically to the o line in the NFL last season the fourth worst of any team since 2017 let's get to more news Jamar Chase still not practicing head coach Zack Taylor admitted he may have spoke too soon uh this week saying Jamar would be back and was likely to play week one against those Patriots made a statement of his own following that as he stood on the sideline at practice now Chase has been vital to the success of Joe burrow who the Bengals just paid last season Chase has been on the field for 69% of Burrow's career attempts and no surprise his yards on those attempts increase and his qbr elevates from 49 to 60 now most importantly those numbers have translated to wins burrow has gone 24 and 14 when Chase plays to 5 and8 without Dan when do you think is time to actually hit panic button in Cincy oh I would say Panic would be a week from now or so like next Wednesday next Thursday cuz if he's if it's not resolved then then it's absolutely going to spill into the regular season I'm highly concerned with what's happened over the last 48 hours with the late arrival yesterday and then the no show here's the the thing I think Cincinnati can be okay if it's a week or two without Jamar because T Higgins is really good okay now not Super Bowl caliber but but the question is and I this was excuse me a little bit Cooper cup was on Ryan Clark's the pivot podcast this past week and he was talking about in the Super Bowl the plan was for it to be the obj game like Cooper knew that he was going to get double teamed and it was like obj go do you well in this story Jamar is Cooper cup and T Higgins is obj T's been amazing we don't know if T's ready to become like that guy you know where you could be the person to get double teamed and constantly dominate so it's a high level concern already Panic a week from now yeah this really snuck up on us guys CU I didn't think it was gonna get this far and it it's a huge deal for the Super Bowl aspirations as Dan alluded to um I think for a couple of reasons obviously the first foremost Jamar Chase is incredible talent I mean he's such a unique player he's so tough so great with the ball in his hands uh but also I think an underrated route Runner he he is a true number one in every sense of the word and I love the way they moved him around last year you take him out and suddenly you realize this group of skill players is not very deep it's very topheavy with Chase and Higgins because after those receivers it's extremely young now Tyler Boyd's gone there's some Talent there but a lot of Youth the tight end group yeah Mike Kiki it's okay running backs room again I don't think anyone would put in the top 10 15 the NFL they have invested in the offensive line but because it is so top heavy if you take a chase out I think there's a disproportionate effect on this offense compared to other teams maybe where you're move a number one wide receiver guys I've negotiated with the Cincinnati Bengals now that's in the context of a trade they are very principal negotiators they are not going to move I don't know how this gets resolved Jamar Chase makes roughly close to $5 million a year that's 17th of what the top receivers getting he didn't play his last year at LSU when we were talking about the CD lambs and the Brandon iuk of the world this was is the one to me I don't know how it gets resolved and eerily this is starting to remind me a little bit of Jaylen Ramsey in Jacksonville and if he doesn't play in the first couple weeks guys could a trade be on the table I know that's something Cincinnati doesn't want to do but I can't imagine based on my experience with them I don't think Cincinnati is going to change their position and I just see Jamar Chase getting more dug in one thing really fast to point out he has two years left on his rookie deal that's why this is a little bit different here they still have the team does control so if you're looking at it just purely from a business perspective they're thinking why would I relinquish that and pay more go ahead and then Dan right and that's why Jamar Chas said well I could withhold my services yeah I mean so to your point two years left on the deal but he's ALS like Mina touched on a little bit there's not a ton of guys in the league that are uniquely gifted and in a system that the system literally builds the offense through you Mike Thomas Michael Thomas used to do it in New Orleans it's a little bit of Tyreek Hill I have a question though because it never makes sense to me because if I was the Cincinnati Bengals like my perspective is going to it is next year this time you're going to sign Jamar Chase like if he if he was going into his year yeah so why do teams not just go I you're going to sign him next year why not just sign him right now because you have a five-year contract and if we tear up the last two years of your deal all while we solv today's problem we just created five more the next day what though what's the next problem what what's the is that problem bigger than not having him well that's what the Judgment of team are is how do you solve those problems and what precedent do you create and look we all know that Jamar Chase has out worked uh outperforming his contract D but fundamentally is if you tear up his deal someone's going to knock on your door and say hey what are you doing for me yeah there are so many layers to this and one of them being the way that the Bengals specifically negotiate we we've had that perspective from a few people Mikes is great there too uh right so that's that's number one I I actually think that's a term of endearment when other players don't like me that means I'm doing something the right way I am mad at however I'm never ever invited to participate in these Anonymous surveys if they are actual surveys going out I would love to be a part of that so hopefully I get the uh the the link to the next one yeah who's voting in these all right Dan what are your thoughts yeah I love his response care enough not to care what people think about this is Patrick mahomes's fault okay if you're not Patrick Mahomes right now in someone's eyes you're going to stink this was the case years ago with Tom Brady if you weren't Tom Brady if you were pton Manning if you were Drew Brees Phil rers you stunk and this is all Patrick's fault I say that slightly jokingly slightly seriously we do we live in a world now if you're Lamar if you're Joe burough if you're Josh Allen if you're Jaylen Herz if you're Dak Prescott if you're not Patrick Mahomes to people you stink and the only person who's great is Patrick all right to the Jets neck where Hassan reck still doesn't have a new deal and he hasn't shown up here's GM Joe Douglas with the latest talking about this for the first time publicly nothing's changed from our end um obviously ton of respect uh first on and um awaiting his arrival and uh looking forward to when he does he's going to be welcome with open arms we did talk uh about an extension once that uh once one wasn't agreed upon you know we had the conversation and we felt good about about making the trade um and so you know obviously uh came here reported um had a great day here and um again we just uh we're just waiting his arrival uh Mina how much do the Jets need reic in that week one match up against the ners all right setting aside the question of how they got to this point with reck uh they need him a great deal and they need him especially against the San Francisco 49ers team we're going to talk a lot about this matchup but in simple terms you can't Blitz the Niners you got to get to Brock py with a four-man rush now the Jets barely Blitz to begin with but you're not going to get much of fourman Rush without H reck I mean quinnon Williams is a stud up the middle but they're pretty I think Young at Edge outside of reic coverage certainly helps this is one of the better defenses in the NFL but because of the importance of that fourman Rush particularly against this team uh reck's presence there is so significant week one Robert Salah did say that wide receiver Mike Williams coming back from the ACL injury is on track to play against the 49ers to the Cowboys they signed CD lamb to a four-year deal earlier this week but how about Dak dak's situation uh right now for me from my mirror has more to do with our situation than it does with the merits of Dak Prescott being quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys I've quit a long time ago getting bent out of shape about having anybody under contract or not and there's all kinds of other things other than a contract that could uh change the outcome of him being under contract the whole thing has a lot of move in parts now I can live with that it's worked out really well uh sometimes uh taking those risk will bite you oh Mike T what do you think wow I wish I could speak like Jerry Jones look when they didn't draft a quarterback in the first round they gave Dak Prescott a blank check he cannot be franchised his extension will begin with the number six $60 million or more and if they don't want to pay that bill which they don't have to they are much closer closer to starting over than being a contender because they going to have to look at next year's draft in the first round to find anyone remotely close to replacing Dak Prescott wow um by the way Dak Prescott uh is speaking to the media right now he just he was asking he said he doesn't have to have a new contract before the season starts but quote I think it says a lot if it is or if it isn't then somebody asked what does it say if it isn't done and he said quote just how people feel we all kind of felt like this was going to be pushed out a little bit it's not going to happen for the season I don't know that's telling we we'll keep an eye on that as he continues to speak to the media maybe bring you some of it speaking of quarterback deals the Browns restructured desun Watson's massive contract they converted 4479 million of his 2024 base salary into a signing bonus and created a touch over 35 million in cap space meaning they now have over $62 million in cap space what do you think of this Mike you know Laur it was widely reported that they had an interest in Brandon auk and you know Dan and I were just talking did they create some room to maybe take one more run at Brandon iuk thinking that they're maybe one player away from going meaningfully far this year so you can roll over room from one year to the next if you don't use it so I'm thinking they're going to take a shot at somebody between now and opening day yeah again Brandon IU did not practice once again today we saw more frustration out of John Lynch the 49ers GM yesterday talking about at some point he just got to get out there and play attention loyal Las Vegas Raiders fans we have some hot news that could change changed the fate of our team in a radical way recent moves around the NFL have put San Francisco 49ers star Debo Samuel at the center of trade rumors and guess what the Raiders could be in the crosshairs to make a bold move for him it all started when the 49ers finally got Brandon aak to an agreement signing him to a 4-year $120 million contract extension this move ended months of uncertainty for San Francisco fans but just when everything seemed to be CM NFL Insider Mike silver dropped a bombshell Debo Samuel could be on his way to a new team if things don't go well for the 49ers this season and what does this have to do with our readers a lot while Samuel Remains the key piece in San Francisco his age and the need to clear cap space could lead the 49ers to consider a trade this is where we come in Imagine Debo Samuel wearing the silver and black complimenting our past attack his versatility and ability to make explosive plays would make him a spectacular addition to our offense but there's more in Las Vegas we've seen rumors about Devonte Adams departure circulate endlessly if these rumors come to fruition who better than Debo Samuel to take the Baton as the Raiders star receiver with the possibility of us looking for a new Young quarterback in the 2025 NFL draft having a player of Samuel's caliber would would be essential to ease the transition and give our offense the Firepower it needs plus the naming of Gardner muu as our starting quarterback and the presence of Aiden okell waiting for his chance puts us in a unique position both are temporary solutions but if we're thinking ahead the arrival of a Young quarterback like shadur Sanders or Carson Beck could be imminent and having Debo Samuel as their main offensive weapon would be a master move to ensure our offense is ready to dominate the possibility of Samuel coming to Las Vegas is real and we can't ignore what this would mean for our team it would be a statement of intent a bold move that could take us to the top now I want to know what you Raiders fans think should we go all in on Debo Samuel how do you think he would fit into our offense leave me your comments below and don't forget to subscribe to the channel for more exclusive updates on our Raiders don't miss the next video and as always go Raiders
