what's going on everyone Chris from picks.com here with your free pick in the West Virginia VS Penn State week one college football matchup going down Saturday August 31st 2024 just a reminder if you haven't already make sure you're subscribe to our Channel and smash that thumbs up and if you're looking for my Best Bets the games that I love including my daily $19 best bet head on over to pick dogs.com and click the premium picks tab at the top of the page well let's get to this one between West Virginia and Penn State you got West Virginia coming in they were one of the bigger surprises in 2023 they went from having Neil Brown on the hot seat going into the year but now it has sight set on a double digit win season for the first time in West Virginia since 2016 they finished the year 9 and4 overall last year including a six and3 Mark in Big 12 play they won the Duke's Mayo bowl 30-10 over North Carolina and they got a lot of returning production they got Garrett green coming back green threw for over 2400 yards 16 touchdowns to four picks he also rushed for 772 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground CJ Donaldson's back Jem White's back Devin Carter led the Mountaineers last year but he's gone but Jaden Bray's gonna come in from Oklahoma State um Cole Taylor back after leading the Mountaineers in receptions last year you know there's a lot of returning production on defense so I think there's a lot to like about West Virginia this season and maybe they're not going to sneak up on anybody but I'm still buying high on West Virginia this year I don't know if they're going to win the Big 12 but I think they're going to be highly competitive I think it's going to start in game one you know 10 State coming in 10 and3 overall 7-2 in Big 10 play they lost in the peach bow the Old Miss 38 to 25 they got Drew Aller coming back he still got some solid pieces in the receiving core as well but they did lose their leading receiver and while they do have a nice pair of uh pair of running backs Nick Singleton and KRON Allen I still think that this is going to be a a tough road game for your first game of the season we've seen Penn State in other Seasons you know stumble and there were there was times last year where really the only the only teams they lost to were the teams above them in the Big 10 teams like Ohio State and Michigan but there's been other spots where Penn State has kind of Fallen flat to start the year or at least put themselves in a tougher position than expected and this is a Revenge game for West Virginia they got blown out by Penn State last year I think it was 38 to 15 and you know the Mountaineers that was one of their their you know lone low spots and they're I think they're going to bounce back here I think there's going to be a level of optimism not often you get a top 10 team to start the year at a season opener in Morgantown like I said it's a tough road environment for any team at the best of times and while Drew Aller is going to get better with every rep that he gets like I said I think it's just it's a tough road test and I think that West Virginia is live in this one I think they're going to give Penn State all they can handle in this opener I'm going to take West Virginia and the points in this one and that's going to be my free pick but just a reminder if you haven't already make sure you're subscribed to our Channel and smash that thumbs up and if you're looking for my Best Bets you can find those at pick dogs premium while you're at pick dogs check out our betting tools there are % free they're the best betting tools in the business and tools that you want to make sure that you have in your back pocket when you're making your Best Bets for the day's action thanks for watching see you guys soon
