2023 RED SOX SCHEDULE RELEASED!! (What you Need to Know)

Intro [Music] up [Music] [Music] what is going on everybody welcome back to red seat radio my name is corbin and the red sox lost another series last night i think most people including myself have started to close the book on 2022 and have started to look towards 2023 well we got some pretty big news regarding the 2023 season yesterday and that is that league-wide schedules were released and next year there are going to be a ton of changes to the schedule and some really important things have happened to this schedule for 2023 specifically regarding the boston red sox schedule so that's what we're going to talk about today we are going to go over everything that has changed in this 2023 red sox schedule we're going to talk about why it's important and what it means for the red sox to start by talking about the changes that have actually happened to the schedule itself then we'll talk about kind of some of the key match-ups that i've picked out for this 2023 red sox schedule but first let's talk about the changes and one of the big changes actually probably the biggest changes to this red sox schedule is that they are going to be playing every single team at least one time according to the new cba regardless of whether or not you were in the national league or the american league you are playing every single team in the mlb what this means for the red sox is one there are gonna be a ton of really interesting matchups and two it means a lot of travel so what's gonna happen is the red sox are gonna play more than double the amount of inner league games that they played in 2022 and below and from 2023 on it seems like we're going to be playing about 43 games against inner league opponents this year what that also means is that there's going to be less ale east opponents that we are playing next year we're going to be playing each ale's team four times which is way down from i believe it was six or seven times during the year in 2022 and before and this makes every single a leased game more important which could be a good or bad thing for the boston red sox we saw kind of how they handled interdivisional play this year which wasn't exactly spectacular but in years past they've been really great against the division so this could go either way either way though i think this is going to be a ton of fun to watch and it's going to make divisional games way more exciting as most of these series are really going to matter in terms of standing the only thing that really didn't change is how much the red sox and all baseball are going to play teams in their own league which means that the red sox are going to be playing about the same amount of games against al opponents as they were in years past it went from 66 to 64 so not a ton of change there i actually really like this change through the red sox schedule and two baseball schedule in general baseball has the longest season of any professional sport so it doesn't really make a ton of sense that there are teams that you don't play for years in this schedule and so for me it makes a more balanced schedule and definitely a more interesting one too and on top of that it's going to make the ale s game somehow more intense like we just talked about really it's probably going to make divisional play in all of baseball really interesting but this is a red sox channel so we're going to focus on the ales and like i said with the ales being so competitive this year and in most years and i think it's going to even get more competitive next year with what baltimore does in the off season this could be really big for baseball in general and for rivalries specifically we talk about how much the yankees red sox rivalry has died down a little bit but with only four encounters throughout the year those games are gonna be more and more important and then you're gonna be talking about facing the tampa bay the toronto blue jays all of these guys less in the year and that makes every single game more important i think to me that makes a ton of sense and seems like it's going to make baseball a lot more intense and a lot more exciting to watch and on top of all of that it's going to make for some really interesting stretches and matchups for the boston red sox in the 2023 season so let's talk about some of those stretches and matchups that i've keyed out as probably the most important stretches of the red sox 2023 cam paint Interesting Matchups there are a ton of really really interesting matchups in this 2023 season there are so many that i couldn't fit into one video so if there are series or stretches during the season that you think are super important to this 2023 season that i did not talk about please let me know in the comment section down below these are just the ones that i think personally are ones that stand out to me and the first one we are going to be talking about is the stretch in may where you were playing the phillies you were playing the braves and then you come home and you play the seattle mariners hello this is post production corbin for some reason when i was originally recording this i totally forgot to mention that in between the mariners and braves we are playing the saint louis cardinals and that is definitely a big part of the stretch as well so just remember that as we're going forward sorry about that reason that this is so interesting to me is because for the most part in the 2022 season you played the braves yes but it seemed like you were playing a lot of al contenders a lot of guys in going for a playoff spot in the al this is the first stretch in 2023 where you're playing a couple of contenders for the nl which is interesting something we don't usually see for these red sox schedules and on top of that you come back and then you immediately play a contender in the al as well so that to me is the first really interesting stretch of this 2023 season from there the first divisional important stretch comes in june in my opinion this is one that you guys are probably going to want to circle on your calendars for a must win performance by the boston red sox because in that stretch in june you are playing tampa then you go cleveland then you go new york and then you get a slight break with colorado and then you go new york again like i said these are three really good divisional opponents and all east opponents this is kind of where the first test of the season really comes in where you're playing straight divisional and at least opponents this is kind of your how do i match up against these teams first stretch so that is definitely going to circle on your calendar the third one i want to talk about though absolutely bodies that one in terms of how tough it's going to be during that stretch because this is truly the stretch from hell of the 2023 season because in this stretch you are playing the yankees then you go to houston for four then the dodgers come in for a home series then you go to new york again that is four series in a row against three world series contenders one of the cool things about this schedule though is that we are going to see the return of mookie bets to fenway park for the first time since he was traded that's gonna be a really cool moment for a lot of red sox fans i know i'm gonna try and get to that game so that's one of the cool things about this inner league place you get to see a lot of players that you normally don't see but either way this is truly the stretch from hell i don't know how the red sox are gonna make it through this stretch but this is gonna be the ultimate test to see how well this team can do against opponents in all of baseball during that stretch so that to me in my opinion is the most important stretch of this 2023 season that's the one that's going to be from august 18th to august 30th the last stretch i want to talk about is the end of the year in september where you play every single at least opponent back to back to back to back and to me that doesn't seem like it was done accidentally this is probably more than likely going to decide a couple of teams fade for postseason runs and that right there is going to be a huge week for baseball this is the type of stretch that's going to give me ulcers turn my hair gray and i'm excited for that stretch at the end of the year because that means that every single game is going to be exciting and it's going to mean something but those are the four kind of stretches and series that i've picked out for this 2023 schedule that i really do think could have a huge impact on this 2023 season all in all i think that this red sox schedule is much different than what we've seen in the past in a good way like i said when we were talking about the changes there were 162 games in the in the red sox season in the mlb season it makes a ton of sense to kind of spread the wealth have every team play every team and i think it's going to
