Netflix's The Deliverance FAILS to Deliver (Review)

I thought the Deliverance had a chance to become one of the best Netflix original horror movies and I was completely wrong this film has an All-Star cast of Andre day Glenn Close aanu Ellis Taylor Mo'Nique and Caleb mlin but just completely fails to deliver sure they give fine performances but the script is bafflingly just bad this is a movie that sets itself up to be a drama with horror on the side but then all of the sudden about 30 minutes into this film shifts into being a horror movie but the kind of horror movie that we get is just a stereotypical run-ofthe-mill exorcism demonic possession type of horror movie it doesn't introduce anything new to that genre of horror it would have been a more interesting film as a drama granted not that great of a drama because the dialogue was bafflingly bad at times there one point where Monique's character goes into interrogate Andre day's character and before that she's like I got you now a Bonnie Jackson you know it's just cartoonish and the issue is that this film could have been like a campy type of horror movie but it has some really serious and dark themes of child abuse and alcoholism and living in poverty and all of that so for this film to have such cartoon tunish lines it just really takes away from the seriousness of its themes I guess I could say that the best part of this film is Eli Aronson's cinematography it's pretty good there were some really striking shots here but too bad because the lighting was so dark at times where you could barely even see the shots and I guess my biggest issue with this film is that it has this huge habit of bringing up plot points and characters that you think are going to be important but then completely dropping them after one or two scenes so they're just not important really whatsoever it's really random so thank God for this legendary cast to slightly redeemed this film and make it a twar movie for me because otherwise this would flat out be one of the worst films of the year by far but what about all of you if you've already seen this film please let me know your thoughts in the comments down below do you agree with my takes do you disagree with me I would love to have a good discussion about this film also I got some posters now so I'm not in a complete and total prison cell anymore like I was in the last review I'll see you all next week for another movie review take care
