coach thanks so much for being here everyone heard you after the game altitude schm maltitude you're 5-0 in games above 4400 feet how much were you actually hearing about the impact of the altitude before that game well Pro probably the only games we've really even talked about altitude with a 7,000 feet game so nor Northern Arizona my first year in 22 and then last year Wyoming I think those are the places that really make a big deal about it so we address it with our players and you know we want the game to go to our our flow how we like to play and you know try to run the ball get off the field on third down and if you do that if you run the ball and have sustained drives on offense and get off the field on third down then it's altitude schmel itude coach your defense had five sacks in the win over Wyoming why do you think they were so successful at getting after the quarterback well I think we have a very veteran dline who's played a lot football and they've continued to get better uh coach Looney our dline coach was new this spring and I think he's done a tremendous job of improving their their technique and you know really just being on on them for being accountable and also playing with great great effort and I think coach Jackson uh has done a great job our defensive coordinator in putting them in great positions uh schematically as well one of the key components of that dline is of course kesan James Newbie he was the Big Sky defensive player of the week this week three sacks one of those a strip sack what does he bring to your defense well he brings great energy great speed off the edge you know he's one of the best Edge rushers I've ever been around as far as you know just pure speed running around guys and you know I think he's matured a lot just so proud of him he's one of those guys guys who probably you know could have win in the transfer portal and and gone to an FBS school but I think he's uh he's making the most of what he's doing here and I think the way he's played against the last two weeks against FBS schools he's shown he's an FBS player and uh all the NFL Scouts are gonna know about him he he'll find his way into a training camp next year after the game I'm sure you saw it kesan did the salsa for the true TV crew coach I saw your your locker room dancing who do you has the better moves you or Kean I I'd give Kean on that you know I don't know if he's quite Victor Cruz but he's he's pretty close there and I thought it was awesome too he wanted to get his uh his boys in there he invited all the other D linemen to come in and dance with him so I thought that was a great you know Testament to what a team guy he is Kean bought donuts for the defense the other day just to thank him and stuff for all the support and I think that's a great uh you know great leadership sign as he's not you know taking all the attention for him he's trying to make sure he's thinking because he knows other people playing well made that possible you know if we hadn't stopped the Run well all day we wouldn't have forced him to pass so much so that he was able to get all those sacks looking ahead to this week you are in the kiby dome for the first time this season home opener rematch of that playoff game with you Albany although both teams will look very different starting at the quarterback position two new guys under Center what do we can we expect this week going into this game yeah it's it's a unique game because it's uh even though it's uh we played last year I wouldn't call it like a rematch or anything I think they only have five starters returning you know we have a few more than that but uh they're a very good team you know they're a ranked team I think coach cuso does an excellent job with his defense there they play really hard uh they have some explosive Playmakers on offense number seven is really off to a good start and uh number 13 last year really got after us the receiver they had so you know we're definitely G to take this team uh you know very seriously and we got to play well the the quarterback as a transfer from the University of Wisconsin uh so he's a good talented player so uh again I don't uh still a very good team even though they lost some good players off last year's team you've had some injuries on offense how does having a stout defense help take some pressure off of you offensively as you navigate the situation there well I think our our defense has done a great job of uh you know embracing it and they're not uh feeling sorry for themselves they're not uh uh you know complain and they're they're embracing it I think they raised their level uh knowing that we had our starting quarterback out and did a great job you know supporting Jack Wagner and you know we don't think Jack Wagner is is hurt that seriously he has a chance to play but if uh you if we have to play our third quarterback Nick Joseph at we got a lot of confidence in him and you know it's not when a guy gets hurt you don't expect just the the guy who comes in just to save the day to me the whole ra the whole whole team rallies around him and everybody picks up the slack to make you
