to go around not just on B and napia but also Mario chrisal first of all from the gator side Billy Napier got hired he was supposed to come in and take over for Dan Mullen and take this Gator program back to prominence and he hasn't done that there was more to clean up there than he thought he called the offensive plays people weren't comfortable with how the offense went but quiet as it's kept the offense was decent last year it was the defense that was bad now you bring in five-star quarterback DJ lagway who's expected to get some time behind Graham Merz and now there's some expectations down in Gainesville but the seat is hot they're expecting five six seven eight nine wins Kev against the toughest schedule in America I don't know if they can get there we'll see as far as Mario Chrystal ball they won a bidding war against a lot of schools for cam Ward this is a roster that has been handpicked with a lot of nil money and cam Ward is the ring leader at quarterback they come into the swamp knowing that they have expectations that Mario Chris Ball has to be better based on the money that they spent on this roster so there is a lot of pressure to go around but make no mistake about it if Billy Napier in Florida don't have a more successful season he could be the one that could lose his job I don't know if chrst ball is quite in that category yet but no no doubt haven't had those generational players Kendo and the offensive coordinators can they they make sure that they can get this offense to be consistent that'll be the key and it sounds funny Kev because a few years ago Clemson was the the team that was taking on Alabama they they were knocking upside Alabama and defeating them in in championship games now Georgia is kind of taken over that role as a preeminent program in the country and little old Clemson okay little old Tyler from sparenberg is is got a lot of there's a lot going on in Clemson South Carolina but this program is not too far removed from being really really good davo has just got to remind everybody hey we're Clemson we have talent now can we get that talent to play up to their level and and you mentioned the offense for some of George's players for their upcoming match up with Clemson so how is that affecting how this game's being beted on it's interesting because we saw Georgia as high as a 14-point favorite so you can relax still a comfortable favorite against Clemson in the opener here but there has been some Clemson money that kned off the key number of 14 earlier in the week we saw 13 and A2 then we saw the move Market moving to 13 as well so it's worth keeping an eye on now a lot of the players rumored to be potentially suspended depth players along the defensive line and other positions but right there Trevor ATN the brother of Travis ATN who plays for the Jacksonville Jaguars he's the team starting running back he could miss some time this weekend if he's suspended starting inside linebacker as well so I think the best approach to this would be to look at Clemson as a first half bet they're catching seven and a half points which means you need to be within seven essentially at halftime to win that bet that a lot of these suspensions we see time and time again happen to be first half suspensions and then the stars get to play in the second half so let's take advantage of that for when the announcements hopefully end up coming that's a smart move um also just to add this little bit of perspective Georgia traditionally at the benzo they don't play their best here and there that's Championship Games The Proposal would eliminate the 15-day April window which has been in place the last 2 years the committee will meet in October if approved it would go into effect this Academic Year now the way the current portal is set up is as follows 30-day window opens from December to the first week of January then a 15-day window in April opens which is the one potentially being removed special exceptions exist for scenarios in which a team's head coach leaves or a team is playing in games beyond the original January 7th deadline keep in mind the national championship is means we're not going to quiz you on all that jargon you just so artfully put out for us uh I I do think it signifies just this new era that we're torpedoing into right now now in college football and the fact that there will only be one Avenue or one portal for players to transfer is pretty significant the last couple years after spring practice the guy you know backup quarterback realizes he's not going to get the job at an SEC team he can go to the Mountain West and try to get a starting job there the one the the reasoning from talking to Craig bu the head of the football coaches association today that they want the one portal system is cuz rosters are changing quickly remember that cap of 105 scholarships is going to come to start 2025 this gives coaches some roster flexibility and really stability consistency and predictability so post spring they don't lose a whole position group and not have any way to replace them okay now let's talk about week one because it is fast approaching Kirby Smart of Georgia he's been declining to say if any players will be suspended for the season opener on Saturday against Clemson what can you tell us about possible suspensions for the number one team in the country well uh all eyes are on tailback Trevor ATN Travis's younger brother he transferred there from Florida this last off season he was arrested on a DUI charge back earlier in the spring and per Georgia Athletic Department policy he's expected to be suspended for one game which will be the opener against Clemson there's two other players that were also arrested these on reckless driving charges this is smile mundon the starting linebacker and receiver sovi white they are not subject to the same suspension and they are expected to play on Saturday so uh Kirby smart as these things have gone over the years usually dresses guys out so they they may uh etn may be there in warm-ups but the expectation for the Georgia rules is that he will not play against the Tigers that puts that puts Georgia in a bit of a bind back up Rod Robinson uh is out with an injury so we could see a lot of Branson Robinson a sophomore and even see some of Nate Frasier a dynamic
