Ryan Seacrest to host Wheel of Fortune [Music] happy Wednesday welcome to wake up Charlotte to go hopefully you are a frequent Watcher of Wheel of Fortune every evening we know you are in Jeopardy that's right every every evening here on WCNC at uh seven o'clock uh and now we know that a very familiar face will be taking the reins of the show in about a year you've actually predicted this right here on wake up Charlotte to go not too long I should not have any inside information that's right all right break the news for us yes so they actually announced this yesterday afternoon saying that Seacrest is going to be taken over that's starting in 2024 so in a statement Seacrest already responded he said he's humble to be stepping into the footsteps of the legendary Pat Sajak now if you guys remember Sajak announced his retirement earlier this month so say Jack's last run will be season 41 Seacrest will then take over for season 42. now Seacrest was a host for 21 season on American Idol if you remember and then previously he was on Live with Kelly and Ryan that's actually where he won an Emmy Award now Astro Sajak's next steps again he will continue to serve as a consultant on the show for three years and that's after his retirement but talked about this all morning I mean guys everybody is talking about this online and at first I remember during the show I was like oh people will welcome them with little you know open arms and it's not happening it's very mixed response I'll say a lot of folks are saying that this is definitely the right move but then there were other people that are like I'm not watching the show anymore who do they suggest that no one suggested anyone else I see a friend of mine on social media some people posting they're like give the hosting get give somebody else a chance let us know what you think do you think What do you think it's a a smart move or is there someone else his demeanor kind of matches Patsy totally though like so I think it's kind of a horizontal move as far as that I guess per it's like for real you can't have an over the top personality but you just have to have a solid one what about Vanna White I see we were hoping for Vanna White she didn't really want that I think that was oh yeah do you think she'll stay now with Patrick the interview I saw with him uh last night maybe he said that he's already spoken with her oh she is going to stay she hasn't signed the new contract yet I mean I think that's a good match right there like you know like Chris was saying well you know it's kind of an obvious choice you don't want someone who's a super superstar they were saying somebody maybe someone's an actor and then if you take a look at the talk show realm there really aren't too many people out there you have to have someone well known you can't take someone who's spectacular unknown yeah they'll be compared constantly to yeah true Pat Sajak and I think you know he's just it's an even blend you know just exchanging one personality very very similar personalities and I think you'll do very well Joyce saying I love it he's a natural Hank saying well when you can't get Lair sprinkles second choice I had to turn it down I just I didn't want to leave Sean didn't want to leave the show I know I know you love us that much making that kind of money that just changes you it's just too much money it's like the people who win the lottery nothing good happens [Laughter] yeah because I mean this is some people thought okay since he's done American Idol since he's done a daily talk show why would he want to do a game show and the fact of the matter is is that this daily game show pays a lot of money it allows him to do everything else because it shoots three days a month still has his radio show um yeah so as a radio show so he can do this and make a I mean I think it's remembered Pat Sajak was making 15 million dollars a year wow and you shoot a total of 36 days a year so you can easily do this job and being Ryan Seacrest I assume he wants to do a thousand other things I see why you turned it down right yeah I I nah you know just I like to work every day I do think that you know the same people Jeopardy who who manage Jeopardy manage Wheel of Fortune I do think they probably didn't want to repeat what they've done at Jeopardy um yeah which is just they basically a year and a half of sort of tumult and going through rotating posts and then they picked a host and then that host was had some past history they didn't like and so I think that guy hosted one episode yeah they're like no somebody we know that we're gonna map this out and he has a bad pass it's probably already out totally maybe he could do both yeah end up doing wheels and you'll really have those people chiming in that said no give the hosting gigs to other people by the way those two shows have been on WCNC Charlotte for around on let's see 45 years wow oh my goodness what a run oh wow so basically like the entirety of Sajak's tenure yeah oh my goodness and so and then I remember we did like kind of like a look back at who's hosted the show in the past so Ryan Seacrest I think he's only three people to host this show Chuck Woolery took over and it's been Pat ever since so yeah yeah oh my goodness it'll be number three wow Vanna White yeah and I do Wonder with Vanna I do wonder if for one if she stays and for two if she doesn't stay do they replace her because keep in mind her job was was turning letters and that doesn't you don't really have to do that anymore but she's still like a part of oh I'm a huge fan of the fan I mean I advocate advocated for her that's to be the host but I mean I think I think she'll play Steve and the the angle that kind of money well I Comments did see though that she she has evidently because she's she's hired some attorneys I read in the Press um four for representing her because according I think it was the New York poster this is the Realty yeah right that she supposedly has not gotten a pay raise in 15 years in like 15 years and and I think they realize the people who run the show we got to keep Vanna I mean it take them so long to realize that right now I even think after she retires even though yes technology can take over it's still kind of having that co-host presence yeah it's kind of like with um Kelly and Ryan oh yeah I keep want to say Kelly Regis and yeah I know how they always talk to the producer by the camera and everything just to kind of have that person to chat with and reference even though you do have a live audience I agree with you I like that feel with that yeah more comments maybe oh yes oh sorry I'm I'm failing on my responsibilities um Linda wants to know are they trading Vanna White 2 what are they going to do with Vanna White and um someone else saying oh our web producer chiming in that's a great question Linda we aren't sure yet we hope she stays yeah like just like we just said um from the New York Post white who has appeared on Wheels since 1982 as reportedly lawyered up and that's what you were just talking about so we'll see we'll see okay get to get the money all right folks let us know what you think is Seacrest's the right man for the job if not let us know and of course we hope you watch either way every night seven o'clock underneath [Music] thank you
