Yankees today listen man I can't get I can't scream and yell they they you know took a series from the Orioles um first place team played very well the first two games of the series uh Luis Hill pitched well Garett Cole pitched well was nice we hadn't won a series in the last seven Series so to win a series going into the allstar Break um obviously is a good thing without question so no no qualms about that no complaints about winning a series from the Orioles but this team just doesn't do the little things to win ball games whether it's poor managing by Aaron Boone which we've seen time in and time out and I'm certainly not blaming Aaron Boone for this today there's no way I'm blaming Aaron Boon for this loss today Ben Rice hits a massive three-run home run in the ninth inning massive huge looks like we're going to sweep him going into the he could have be in first place going into the All-Star break it would have been a nice uh way to finish especially with the struggles it would have had some positive vibes going into it could have got rested ready for the second half of the season but no vulpi makes a freaking error Verdugo Miss plays the ball they lose all the time and this this these are the things that hold teams back from winning championships you know you have enough Talent there you have enough pitching you always want more this lineup needs to be more consistent there's no question about that I'd like to see better average hitters we got to stay healthy there's certainly things that you can look at and go this team's not a complete team by any stretchy imagination but the talent on this team is very good and there there's no question about this Ben rice has been a a tremendous surprise he's been awesome I'm glad he's playing every day and what a moment for that kid United three home run game a couple weeks ago and or I guess it was last week actually and today he hits what looks to be a gigantic game-winning home run in the top of the ninth only to have it taken away from him by piss poor Fielding the yanies have to figure this out we have seen teams steal tons of bases on them we've seen error after error after error maybe maybe the errors they make are just glaring like I I don't have the stats in front of me the Yankees might be one of the better Fielding teams in the league I don't know how other teams field I really just pay attention to the Yankees I don't have time to look at all the other team like what the other teams stats are stuff and I don't have MLB Extra Innings like I used to were I would just watch as many games as I I can I listen to games sometimes in the background of other teams I don't really pay much attention to the way they feeli and again maybe this is just every time the Yankees make a big mistake like this it comes back to cost them so it's just a disappointing way to end even though they had a good series it's a disappointing way to end the first half and you see like I said this is the first series they wanted last seven Series so that is a positive but man you think about what could have been and a lot of these games that they let get away from them this year because of whether it be base running errors which we saw vulpi you know cost us a game vulp is obviously costing us a lot he can't field he can't run the bases he's not hitting at all anymore he got off to a great start but what what is Anthony vpy really is Anthony vpy just another one of these hyped up great great Yankee prospects that ends up being absolutely nothing in the major leagues because God knows we have seen this for years all their top prospects never pan out what does The Scouting Department do with this team how do you have all these resources and you can't hit on a prospect not since Aaron judge like literally it's it's insane to think about that remember most of the prospects they get or they have come from other teams it just doesn't make any sense but this this guy costes a run earlier in the year because he didn't run out uh didn't run a home plate on a double play which wasn't a force out because the man stepped on first base and lahu was not now a force out which means the Run can score before the may he was tagged vuli sat there and watched the play happen and we lost that game by a run it's little things like this and and again I can blame Aaron Boone until I'm blew in the face because we all know I don't like Aaron Boone and I don't think Aaron Boon's a very good manager but I can't blame Aaron Boone for not Fielding a ball and for miss playing a ball for coming out the ball that ends up over your head I can't I can't blame Aaron Boon for that it's a player's fault but base running fundamentals field like what do they practice do they practice do they practice Fielding do they practice base running like this the thing I don't know what they do and I'm not say you know you're going to make errors it's human nature nobody's perfect but again this seems to happen too frequently with this team and when you're a championship team you always do the little things well it's not just the big three-run home run of the ninth inning it's not watching Aaron judge have another historic Season watching Juan stto hit the ball over the moon those those are fun things man those are great things you you need players like that if you're GNA win you need great players to win games but if you're going to win a World Series you're going to play the best best of the best in the postseason you're going to play a seven game series and if you have games like this get away from you because it's very possible that the Yankees match up with the Orioles in the postseason at some point but if you can't do the little fundamental things if you can't run the bases if you can't move Runners over if you can't feel the freaking ground ball okay if you can't throw Runners out at second base if you can't do the fundamental things you're not winning a championship it's really that simple those Yankee teams in the 90s that won all those championships look across the board they were at the they were at the top of the league at almost every important category walks I don't know about sacrifices but I mean they scored the most runs of anybody they had one of the highest batting averages the highest on base percentages they fielded the ball well they got Runners over they got them in they hit with men on base they did all the little things that you need to do to win championships not games Yankees can I say it all the time they can Mash their way to 92 wins I mean they have more money than anybody else except maybe the Dodgers maybe the Mets I mean who knows the Yankees certainly aren't hurting in the in the wallet for money so they can go out and they can have a $300 million contract in John Carlo they can have a $360 million contract in Aaron judge they can have a $315 million contract in garri Cole they can afford to do this where a lot of teams can't afford to do it teams like the Pirates teams like the Rays you know smaller Market teams that develop really good prospects and then when it comes time to sign them they can give these guys the big contracts teams like the Yankees swoop on in and get them so they can do this all they want and we have seen this it's a vicious cycle they win 95 they win 100 they win 93 but when they get into the postseason and the little things matter more because you're not just going to hit six home runs in a game you're not going to mash your way you're not facing terrible pitch you're not facing a terrible you're not facing a team that can't hit the baseball when You Face better teams you have to do everything better it's just that you have to step your game up and until the Yankees figure out a way to field the freaking baseball run the bases and do like I said the little things the fundamentals sacrifice flies not striking out with the bases loaded to nobody out until they find ways to do this until they figure it the hell out man they're not winning a championship I mean it's really that simple um again I'm not going to complain about beating the Orioles in a series the Yankees needed that but it just it just sucks to know that really this would have been such a huge uplifting win you're going you're behind to the ninth inning going there your rookie hits a big three on Homer you take the lead and then you promptly Give It Away on a couple missplays in the ninth inning which could have been a sweep so you take the thrill of victory and and you you again you snatch the feet from the jaws of Victory and instead of going in on a really really really high note hey we swept the Orioles we had a big comeback win feeling good about yourself now all of a sudden you go into that Allstar break with a totally different demeanor like these guys are gonna live they're not g to go out and go oh my God they're not not gonna lose sleep at night I'm sure um but it just sucks that it had in that way but again this yankee team just doesn't do the fundamental things anymore I I don't know what the I don't know what the solution is I I really don't but it's frustrating to watch his team do this time in and time out until it changes man we're gonna the same thing going to have another year 93 wins 94 wins make the postseason get knocked out in the ALDS
