in case you haven't heard Governor Nome has declared a state of emergency in Rancho Palos Verdes this declaration follows significant land shifts and widespread power outages affecting approximately 300 residents Southern California Gas halted service in early August due to ground movement soon after Southern California Edison shut off electricity to numerous homes and businesses to prevent Wildfire risks the state of emergency will allow the state government to allocate resources and Aid to those affected Governor nome's office of emergency services has been working with local authorities for nearly a year to manage this crisis this includes technical support assistance with a local Aid Center securing a Federal grant for groundwater management and conducting preliminary damage assessments All State agencies have been directed to follow the emergency plan to ensure the safety of residents the California Disaster Assistance act will also provide addition support to the local government stay tuned for more updates as the situation develops
