Intro one point today, more than 14,000 customers are without power as snow blanketed the area for an update on the current situation in Seattle . We want to bring in Jenny Levesque from Seattle City Light, Jenny, Thanks for making the time to get us all up to speed here. Now we know that Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkin issued a state of emergency earlier this week in anticipation of this snow so What do we know Roughly what 2600 customers They were without power in the Holler Lake Northgate area in north Seattle just earlier today. Where do those numbers stand right now? Are these people back online? Yes Seattle City like Cruz responded to an outage in the Holler Lake Better Lake neighborhood this morning affecting 2900 customers. Power was restored to all customers Power outage within three hours, and the cause was a tree in the wires. And we're talking about really, really cold temperatures outside temperatures dipping even lower into the evening hours. So what advice do you have for people trying to stay warm while waiting for the power to come back on. As temperatures drop, customers can stay warm with layered clothing and blankets. Keep your doors and windows shut. During the day open your blinds facing sunlight will help bring warmth into your home. When the power is out, used flashlights and battery operated candles to light the inside of your home and avoid open plain. And please remember to never use generators, camp stoves or Snow and ice barbecue girls indoors. Keep them outside and away from Windows. Jenny We know this kind of weather can really wreak havoc, right? And so for neighborhoods with power lines, what kind of damage can snow and ice due to those lines? Yeah Snow and ice related outages can occur if a tree branch follows on power lines due to the weight of the precipitation or rapidly melting snow on tree branches can cause them to spring up into power lines, which can cause outages. Sometimes equipment may fail due to extremely low temperatures. When an outage occurs. Our response prioritizes life safety first. Followed by emergency services. And then by Road conditions repairs that bring the largest number of customers back into service. And Jenny . You know, we've been talking about the roads today, Lot of those side roads and I was telling Jamie about this, You know, coming to work today I was literally going on a sheet of ice just to go down the hill. So it's difficult for drivers and I'm sure it's difficult for your crews who are out there trying to make repairs in these kind of conditions. What challenges do you know that they've been facing today? Yeah Crews are facing really cold temperatures, snow and precarious road conditions. We appreciate everyone's Tips for power outages patience as we complete repairs in the safe manner. Jenny last question for you. We're not out of the woods yet. Is there anything that we can do to prepare ourselves for the week ahead Because we know there's a good chance that we could see more snow Monday evening into Tuesday as well. Seattle City latest prepared with the necessary equipment supplies and changed our trucks to respond to any outage. If there are widespread outages.
