BYU takes down SMU 18- 15 here in Dallas the Cougars get their first road victory since September of last year a huge win for BYU as they improved to 2 and0 on the season and the defensive effort was excellent from BYU they held the high-powered Mustangs offense to no touchdowns tonight here on the road and Isaiah glasker said in the postgame that they brought the juice and you know this defense throughout they just look like they're playing faster even SMU coach Rett Lashley had noted that earlier in the week BYU's linebackers are playing quicker and you saw that tonight Jack Kelly I thought was brilliant for BYU he had five tackles a sack BYU's defense is just playing some great football right now and they had three sacks tonight in the win and it was a collective effort a lot of guys performed at a high level for the B for BYU tonight Mark Collins got a interception he said in the postgame that Wesley Johnson an analyst for BYU had a dream earlier today and told Collins that that play would happen and Collins delivered on that dream and got it done for BYU with a big pick to stop smu's drive on in that second half the offense for BYU kind of struggled tonight I think that that's pretty safe to say Jake redl it was an up and down night it was kind of the whole Jake rof experience this evening where you saw a little bit of good early in the game it was great LJ Martin was in the game and BYU's offense was a high-powered attack and then Martin goes out with an injury and from there it was a lot of Hit and Miss but they did enough late to win this game and BYU is an aggressive team on fourth down they got a touchdown run from enck nah on on fourth down inside the 10 yard line and then of course fourth and short Rett left stays takes the hit pitches off to Miles Davis and he pops off a 37 yard run and BYU ultimately took the lead and and with a willare and field goal and got an 18 to 15 lead and won this ball game so red slap's got a lot to improve on there were moments where you thought are they going to go to Hannon potentially but colani sataki said in the postgame that there was faith in Jake redl and they were not going to make that change so BYU gets the big win here in Dallas over the Mustangs next up for the Cougars another road game at Wyoming didn't think we'd be saying that in 2024 15 years removed from their last visit to laramy Cougar's going to take on the pokes in Wyoming we got full coverage on KSL sports.com we'll be live tomorrow on cougars Sports Saturday KSL News radio noon to 3 breaking down this game and a whole lot more with BYU football talk to you then
