Julianne Moore Praises Pedro Almodóvar at Venice Film Festival

think that there's such a tremendous life force in Pedro's movies and that's what we all respond to it's almost like when you're watching his movies you can hear everybody's heartbeat so so so much of this is about what does it mean to be alive what does it mean to be a human being what does it mean to have a body what does it mean to have a friend what does it mean to have a witness and so for me as ingred I was so compelled by this character who said I will stand by you she was afraid she was terrified and and wasn't someone who was someone who's examining death but from a distance but in this experience that she had with this friend she knew from long ago from when she was in her early 20s she learns how to be present for it and it makes her feel more acutely alive and so I think that that's the lesson that we all struggle with right it's that Tibetan saying about the glass is always broken and if you know that the glass is broken you'll treasure it because that's how that's just the condition that we live in and I think that's what Pedro manages to to to embody so beautifully in this film and and in a lot of his film in all of his films actually you walk away feeling like you've seen yourself you've seen other human beings and you feel more and more grateful for each day that you've lived
