welcome back to prospect of the week today we got a great one to kick this whole series off Luther buron theii yes you know him the wide receiver out of Missouri if you'all been playing college football 25 you know exactly who this guy is we got a lot to talk about let me go through our schedule real quick so we're to talk about his background his high school recruiting how many stars he had and how many stats he's had so far in college leading up to his junior year next we will talk about what makes him great his superpowers as a player and finally to wrap this thing up I'll go through what three teams I think he would really fit on in the NFL let's waste no time and get straight into this thing let's take it back to 2022 where Luther Burton thei was a festar prospect the number two overall wide receiver Prospect out of the entire 2022 class he attended East St Louis high school out of Illinois and with that in proximity to him the Missouri Tigers made it their mission to get this dude on their roster as soon as possible after collecting tons of offers all across the country from the top programs in college football Luther Burton theii did decide to commit to Missouri as a five-star Prospect Missouri made sure he got on the field his freshman year Luther played 13 games 45 receptions about 400 yards six touchdowns and he also helped on the ground game with 88 yards there and two touchdowns as well so eight touchdowns overall a pretty big year for a freshman following up with this sophomore year this is where Luther broke out he played 13 games had 86 catches 1,00 yards and nine touchdowns and this is all leading up to Luther's junior year this year where he is primed to be a top three wide receiver Prospect at at a minimum in this year's draft class now that we know his background let's go through Luther's tape and find out what makes him such a good player what are his superpowers in the game of football the first thing you see when you turn on the tape is that Luther is a far better athlete than most of those people around him and he is in the SEC yes he was a five-star Prospect we know he was a great athlete but he just seems to have a step on every guy he's running past to nicely pair this fast twitch and elusiveness Luther is a wellb built wide receiver he's not just 58 running around out there he stands at 5'11 and weighing at 208 lbs he is a well-built wide receiver that can take on contact with all that being said that leads me to Luther's first superpower which is that run after catch ability Luther is a true problem and threat once he gets the ball in his hands every single draft they'll be a run after catch guy that everyone kind of raves about but typically they're not in the SEC when you're able to do this in the SEC consistently that speaks volumes to how you can translate that to the league because overall is a conference the SEC has the best defenders the best athletes so it translates best into the NFL cuz it's similar to what the competition would look like there Luther's second superpower is his ability to separate in and out of breakes Luther is excellent at creating separation at those intermediate and deep routes all across the field this is truly the skill that translates best into the NFL yes run after catch is cool and so are contested catches but if you can't get open you can't separate you will not get the ball if I had to give a comp for Luther Burton thei Luther is a a mini Pekka with Lamborghini speed but in all seriousness if I had to give an actual player comp to Luther Burt in thei he this is where I I don't like comping anybody that has run after catch to Debo he's got shades of it obviously Debo heavier stalker player I mean Debo is built like a running back I think Luther will run better routes and have better separation in the NFL and that's where he's kind of a tweener so he's a rare combination that's why I can't really give an actual player in my opinion I think he's kind of the first of his kind he can run after the catch he's not as good as a Debo at it but he will be very effective at it in the NFL now that we've talked about Luther Burton as a player now let's talk about what teams he would fit on best in the NFL and what teams need him better to describe it my first team is going to be the Buffalo Bills the Buffalo Bills currently have a wide receiver Curtis Samuel Keon Coleman mvs and khil Shakir I think truly actual differen makers on this team Curtis still a solid wide receiver khil Shakir has got upside mvs we know what he is at this point not a bad player just kind of a role player Keon has a chance to be something special but we got to see him develop as a rookie you need someone in there to be a good Ying to Keon's Yang Keon is a big body wide receiver that's going to take on contested catches Let's get someone in motion someone you can move around run after the catch that's not Keon's game that is what would fit perfectly for Luther Burton the third in this offense my opinion of course but I think you do very well with Josh Allen on the Buffalo Bills next I got the New England Patriots this wide receiver room has some potential but they don't have someone like Luther bird in the third let's see Kendrick Bourne solid white out dearo Douglas he's fine pulk got a chance to be something special the second round pick out of the draft this year but who is the explosive guy you're throwing the ball to and letting him make plays they don't quite have that they got pul who goes up for ball he's a good contested catch guy and Baker does the same thing I think that's the answer Luther bton thei third can provide for the New England Patriots and finally last but not least and this team could always use wide receiver help the New York Giants now the Giants did just get Malik neighbors who I absolutely love as a prospect I think he's going to be a top 10 wide receiver in the NFL in a couple years here this guy is something special obviously you got other factors he can't control but as a prospect love M neighbors now it's kind of it over there for being honest like they got a bunch of role players who are pretty solid and they're good like threes and fours but they need another guy now obviously these guys aren't going to be ying and yang they're very similar play Malik neighbors and Luther bir in I third but you have two explosive athletes on the field at the same time how do you cover that you can't double team them you can't bracket him you can't play one over and man the guy you are in trouble as a d-coordinator and man it would be fun to watch I think the Giants could have something real special if they did that next year in the draft y'all if you enjoy this video please
