for more on the least let's bring in our director of scouting Craig boten Craig yes it's true max pacher ready has scored 30 or more goals six different times during his NHL career however it's also true that because of a series of injuries he hasn't played a full NHL season the last eight years he turns 36 a month into the upcoming NHL regular season what could Leaf fans realistically expect from Max petti now well I don't think it's just about now a healthy Max pachetti has shown that he can score I don't think it's about the Toronto mapley during the regular season 100 points being a high octane offense I think is in the cards I don't think anybody would make a prediction it would be anything less than that but now we're looking at the playoffs Gino and the playoffs are where the Toronto mapley have found it a little bit more difficult to score and certainly where you need goals in important games that has been an area where the Toronto mapley have fallen short so I don't think Max pachetti has to play a full season he's had a series of unfortunate injuries but when he's healthy he can score and I think where the least are looking now is playoff time because that's where the leas have fallen on Hard Times offensively if Max patchier ready who can score from 40 to 45 ft give you another D dimension on the power play that now forces opponents to have to defend a little bit differently and a little bit deeper in wider into your offensive group and that's where Brad Tre living and the Toronto Maple are trying to find that success it's not in October it's not in February it comes during playoff time when you're playing against really good opponents so max Patcher ready being able to deliver and I'm talking about health healthwise now gives them a chance to find a goal sometimes it's not about multiple goals it's just finding a goal that gives you a chance to have that success uccess and kind of break through a little bit more come playoff time Max Patcher already healthy I believe can do that so let me ask you this 10 if that's the case if you're saying we got to keep him healthy and we need him at his best in the playoffs do you think about load management with his regular season do you say every couple of games we give you one off to get some rest do you work that out with him in the schedule absolutely Gino you know I I hate I hate the term load management I think what you're trying to do is ensure that the player can stay optimally healthy and for Max patrio ready you don't need him for 82 regular season games what you need him to do is just find his form be comfortable being ramping up come playoff time where the intensity picks up and so being able to put him in a position where the playoffs are beginning and he's at the most optimal point of the season and ready to deliver that's what you try to do I don't think it's any different than a goenda it's mentally ready I think in the case of Max Peter ready it is all about being physically ready and certainly the Leafs are going to have to look at doing that with an older player that has the injury history that Max pater ready has all right single most important question surrounding Max pater ready he wears number 67 we all know what that number means in Toronto when they haven't won the cup since 1967 if you're running the organization you go to Patches hey patches you might want to consider changing your number or do you say go for it maybe it breaks the Jinx listen I I don't believe in jinxes uh Gino that's number one and number two is if Max Patcher ready wants to score wear number 67 I don't care what I need Max Patcher ready to do is be able to help them come playoff time score that goal when it gives you an advantage and gives you an opportunity to move further and deeper into the playoffs that's what you need from Max Patrick ready the number won't matter everybody knows what 1967 means maybe Max petetti wearing 67 helps them break the Stanley Cup drought wouldn't that be something he's our TSA director scouting Craig Button for
