Game recaps for Georgia, Penn State, Iowa, Michigan and Oregon welcome back in again and listen we had the first full week of college football I know for me that constituted me sitting on the couch and it's great when it's kind of your job with your wife and you can be like hey I got to do this for work I got to pay attention but a lot of good games listen when you look at Ohio State Texas B and Old Miss nothing to see they Club teams they were supposed to Club um we didn't learn anything about them yet we'll talk more about them in the weeks to come obviously Georgia Clemson big game to start and Georgia you were curious about what are we going to replacing a ton of weapons on the offensive side of the football replacing a god of guys on defense with a lot of snaps you know here here's here's one thing I that notice when I watch Georgia you know it's the next guy every year Georgia obviously comes out as the number one team in the country and they look like it like they replaced a ton of weapons all over the field no Brock Bowers no lad makcun guys that get drafted early um the offensive line big strong guys that just plug and play and then I think the most impressive thing is Nate Frasier the new freshman running back this dude is the next one in line number three you saw when he touched the football it looked different when etn comes back next week after his one game suspension that running back combo we're going to talk about that's going to be up there with Ohio State and some of the other best onew punches probably in all of college football that's how good they are other side of the football another freshman stepping right in KJ Bolden at safety Malachi SP Starks you can now move him into the slot he can play that star position play all the field another ridiculous interception to start a season like he had as a freshman too in this ball game the ball skills with Malachai Starks is just amazing but this defense looks locked it looks loaded um it looks like some new young faces Jaylen Walker's a guy that popped you're going to see a lot from him in the future just he's kind of their move around piece he put him everywhere they put him an outside linebacker inside linebacker they can put him in the interior of the defensive line outside like just a versatile piece Georgia keeps rolling and one thing that caught my eye in the Big 10 two teams that I think that we'll be talking about later on in this season especially if it continue to hold true the trend in which I saw offense yes we're talking about Big 10 but we're talking about offense Iowa just dropped 40 Iowa like that feels like it's like seven games for the hawkey in the past they they bring in Tim Lester as their OC they had three touchdown passes to wide receivers in the second half so for context and for people to understand last year all of the season they had three touchdown passes to wide receivers the year before that they had two touchdown passes to wide receivers so Cade mamir another year I think he has a chance to be super successful in this offense they're going to throw the football they're going to spread it around I will just drop 40 like they had almost 500 yards of offense their average last year was like 235 a game yes I I did not speak wrong 235 a game if Iowa has a really good offense you better look out this is a team that I don't think would go to the playoffs but but they're going to beat some of those big teams in the division like the Ohio State like an Oregon like a Michigan and like a Penn State and speaking of Penn State coloni comes in over from Kansas why this is this first of all this is James Franklin's sixth coordinator Edition on the offensive side of the football sixth out of 11 years so like searching trying to find you know a way to piece it together and make it work you see the weapons all over the field you see them in the NFL year after year but but how do you get it to work and Drew Aller had one of his best games and the biggest thing was creating explosive plays in the passing game I mean he had 11 completions and over 200 yards like that's a big deal so Penn State's offense if if that gets cook in because you know they got the running game you know you got two great backs but to be able to create explosive plays so Iowa putting up a ton of points Penn State looking like offensively they're gonna they're going to bring some challenges those are two games I was like if if that continues that League better watch out two teams that I think people are going to go what happened see what happened was Oregon Michigan those are two teams that we kind of expected a lot from not big challenges week one with them and they both sputtered and they both sputtered on the same side of the football if you look at Oregon this is a team that Dylan Gabriel he's played a ton of football he has a ton of weapons on the outside but when you watch this football game that they had game one here's the problem the offensive line they've been banged up on the offensive side of the football so Oregon until they get that figured out they started to walk on it Center and they ran the ball for two point something yards a carry that's not good it's got to start in the T trenches as we start talking about Oregon coming into the Big 10 like into where the trenches matters and running the football matters that's a bad sign week one from them listen I think they'll get healthier along the offensive front the good thing is their defense are lights out OU angal another a linebacker now not not the quarterback from Florida State now but the guy who's playing linebacker at at Oregon he can rush the passer he looked good the defensive line looked good the safety spot is one of the better safety comb ations in all of college football I think Oregon's going to be fine but it was a rough week one they got to get the ground game figured out they got to get healthy on the offensive side of the football Dylan Gabriel not being able to run as well as bonick did didn't couldn't really give him a spark on that side so interested to watch how that develops but the defense looked great Michigan more of the same defense looked unbelievable will Johnson one of the best corners in college football he closed the game with an 86 yard int back to the house they Michigan looked great on the the defensive side of the football they they they did what they needed to do created turnovers they scored now offensively it was a struggle bus and they played two different quarterbacks and Davis Warren was at QB and he went 15 of 25 he just he struggled to throw the football listen you're you're placing a guy in JJ McCarthy that dude was awesome I mean he was a top 10 pick for a reason and he's gonna have to learn on the job here's what if you're a Michigan fan what you got to be happy about you got some weapons and it's not just Donovan that people already know about and people have hyped up when I look at this offense dude Colston Loveland is a GameChanger he he is a tight end number 18 but he's also a wide receiver you saw him split him out wide throw him Slants with that big six- foot body six big fra huge frame at 250 pounds like I see him and I say okay this offense can find themselves they can feature him Alex Orgy played quarterback as well I I they're going to go back and forth I think with him and Warren and they're going to have to figure out who's there guy but he's a dude and then khil at running back khil mullings I haven't seen this guy he's a senior he's number 20 we talked about Blake cormal last year this guy's 62 230 pounds he returned kickoffs but he ran the ball like he stole it he ran angry like Michigan I I think they were surprised probably by this young man like he looked like one of the better backs in the country in week one like yards after contact good Vision like good speed this dude looks like he could really really ball so Michigan I think not only they have Donovan Edwards we know about that but but having a guy like mullings having coulston out wide couston Loveland like I think they have some weapons if they can bring the quarterback along slowly the problem is you got Texas next week and the good thing is it's at the big house so I think that's obviously a huge Advantage we started this channel for one reason and one reason only we absolutely love college football and quite honestly my family gets tired of me talking about football and I'm not doing it on television every single weekend anymore and so we got to get this out we got to get the love for college football it's going to be all positive you're going to hear about the best teams the best plays people doing things off the field that are really really awesome we're going to hear from coaches we're going to hear from players like we're going to really build this into something special so as we go along and as we grow I want your feedback man please hit subscribe and then tell us what you like tell us what you don't like what you want more of and we'll continue to read those and to bring those more and more into the show hit that subscribe button please all right one of the coolest things in all of college football it's the reason why it's the best sport in America is people get hyped up at a young age and you're Nico Iamaleava like I can't wait to see so and so because nowadays I guess I know they've paid so much for so and so but the the the hype is here and you want to see who meets it and and very few times do you watch somebody in a day VI and you go man that met the that met the hype and I tell you what Nico from Tennessee he met the hype now listen I've been practicing this last name and I wrote it down right here on my notes and I'm going to try to say it but it's Iya Mal Ava I can't say it fast and for the purposes of this show for the rest of the season he's gonna be Nico okay Nico uh highly recruited man one of the better quarterbacks in the country he's 66 the first play of the football game when you broke down the tape like watching every sing I watched every single throw this cat and he was good and the first play you see the Poise and you see him scramble and you see him throw on the run you see him throw over the middle of the field you see him throw outside you see him throw on time you see him throw deep Bro there was a lot of things to look at and go holy cow this dude is absolutely the real deal obviously game one it's Chattanooga but when you think about debuts and meeting the hype very few times do you do that and so it got me thinking about like who are the best guys that I've ever seen you know in their debut that have been hyped up and pubbed up okay so I'm goingon to take you back several years ago and I think this was like 200 15 no 13 it was jamus Winston it was me ree Davis Jesse Palmer and we were on the call I remember meeting with Jimbo Fischer the night before and like jamus Winston is that guy like he is an absolute Superstar he's gonna be a stud he reads defenses so well he throws the football he's got some good energy he goes out against pit in the first game and he did okay jamus Winston's numbers for that game 25 of 27 four touchdown passes one touchdown running so it was literally as advertised he went on to win a Heisman Trophy That season worked out unbelievable obviously had a great career was drafted highly um it wasn't as great in the NFL but if you're being compared with jamus Winston his college career I think youd take it how about another guy how about 2015 versus Virginia I remember doing a tape on this guy Josh Rosen he was so hyped up and at of UCLA and they play Virginia he goes 28 of 35 for 351 Three touchdowns no interception and it was Josh Rosen hype all over again ended up being a first round draft pick had all the tools obviously um to be successful so another guy that met expectations and then the last one Graham Merz y'all remember him Wisconsin 2020 that dude went 20 of 21 like and the one pass that was dropped by GRC that could have been caught like it was a near phenomenal day and I just remember thinking Russell Wilson and Paul Chris and this Wisconsin offense running the football and a guy at quarterback that can do that so like Nico I I put him in this category man because he was so hyped up and a guy that came in and lived up to it and he's not gonna be good like Nico is gonna be a superstar he's got everything you need V fans I would be jacked out of my mind all right here's one thing I think week 12-seed candidates to week we got to pay attention to more this year is the the non power four teams remember the group of five is going to get a team in the college football playoff whether you like it or not whether you think they should uh the best the highest ranked champ from the non group of you know from from the group of five is going to be in the college football playoffs so I think keep an eye on those teams Boise State they had a barn burner bro they had over a 100 points scored in that game they were down in the fourth quarter come back and win obviously they remain undefeated that's all you really have to do from the sunb App State again looked sluggish actually was trailing in the third quarter came back took care of business um pulled it out so App State remains undefeated there's another team that we're going to keep an eye on Conference USA Liberty struggled with FCS Campbell like they really struggled to run the football didn't look like a liberty offense but again doesn't matter pulled away got the W um remained undefeated and then I think you the AAC favorite the team to keep an eye on I think Memphis is going to be really really good this year Memphis 44 to0 no problem whatsoever I think they can score I think they're going to put up points in bunches they got weapons they've actually used the nil as well as anybody um because they have funds to be able to use and they they've got a bunch of transfers that are going to come over and help them in a big way but the group of five remember we got to pay attention to them as the season goes on and speaking of playoffs man how about the Notre Dame CFP Hopes are STRONG start to Notre Dame like you talk about a playoff building resume like that is the perfect start for them dude they went into K field they went into college station literally with a a brand new offensive line a brand new quarterback a brand new OC like and they took care of business they got a 10-point win I just I'm so impressed Marcus Freeman going forward on fourth down staying aggressive like going to win the football game you could tell like I mean he's just he's building something and when I look at Notre Dame like they're going to grow they're going to improve and Riley Leonard is not a finished product by any stretch and and he's gonna have to come along but but I love the way they got they got their legs underneath them physically they ran the football later Mike Elco defense A&M I don't think A&M's offense played good and Conor wigman severely disappointed but but if they if Notre Dame can continue to grow run the football rely on a defense that I think is one of the best in the country especially in the back end I mean they got Playmakers in the back end that that not only do they cover they they have instincts they break on the football Al golden is a great DC so it it's hard to say somebody punches a ticket and it's it's actually it's impossible and nobody can say that but not at a with their remaining schedule man like they look like they will have the highest percentage to be in the college football playoff they don't play in a conference Championship their defense I think is going to travel every week they got some service Academy games they got to go at Georgia Tech they got to play FSU they got to finish with USC but I think this is a team that's built with the right stuff that's very much at the end of the season not only going to be in in contention I I think they'll be in the college football playoff all right I told you how much I CFB Officiating Rant love college football I watch almost every single game and if I don't watch it live I'll go back and watch it and it just excites me it makes me happy it puts me in a happy place except for a few rules there are a few things that are driving me nuts the targeting rule year after year we've talked about this we've got to fix this rule you can't tell me that kids bust their butt all off season all year to get in a spot to play in one of the biggest games in the season and they get thrown out for targeting I get it targeting's part of the game like suspend him for a quarter maybe but let's do this like the NBA like let's do a flager one versus a flagrant two you don't get kicked out of the game you you get a chance to continue to fight for your team because here's why here's why it annoys me so much because you watch offensive guys play after play a guy's coming in to make it to make contact and this doesn't this is not accounted for in the rulebook but the offensive guy lowers down like this and now it becomes targeting do you know how hard it is to hit this big of a a of a Target on a guy that's fast and athletic like it's a really hard thing to do it's a hard thing to legislate they get it wrong a lot and it affects the outcomes of football games it's a rule that needs to be changed and it needs to be changed ASAP I'm tired of watching games being decided by referees and stuff like this because it's stuff that we can control it's stuff that we can change we got to readdress that rule one of the rule is brand new I'm so interested to see how this is legislated and used but basically now the defensive line is not allowed to stem and move before the ball I keep hearing this I keep hearing about this is a rule change they're going to do this I see it being legislated differently in different games this is a stupid rule why is it a stupid rule the offense has every single advantage in the book they decide when the ball snapped they can do shifts they can do motions they can do that we can't touch them and I say we I'm a defensive guy okay we can't touch them Beyond a certain point when they're trying to throw the football every view every rule in the game is slanted towards the offense now the defense has had some success over the years moving in unison stemming and causing the offensive lines to jump off sides really show your discipline that's all you got to worry about you know the snap count you know when the ball is going to be snapped you are told that in the Huddle we're moving around like we got to make late substitu we lined up in the wrong spot if we need to slide we need to slide on the defensive side of the football this rule is going to drive me crazy I saw it called two different ways in the LSU USC game and I think moving forward is probably going to be called multiple ways the offense has every Advantage stop trying to give him another one and every week you're going to be on your couch you're going to be watching these Dudes of the Week games and there's going to be players that pop and and we're going to call those the dudes of the week and and they're guys that stick out on camera for you and they're going to stick out for me and we're going to talk about their numbers and we're going to highlight them cam Ward was a dude and you saw him like calm cool collected obviously he's been at a bunch of big games comes to Miami a flatliner like not worried about if you're rushing him you can run a 44 you can run a 4-3 you come at him he's like all right I'll Sling It sidearm throw an interception don't care cam Ward is a superstar at quarterback Miami saw the swag they saw what this dude had game one thrown for 385 against Florida and four touchdown or three touchdowns like cam Ward is an absolute dude another guy shador Sanders you knew he was a dude here's what I saw in my love from shador he's going to continue to put up numbers he threw for 445 like the defense was not good they kept they kept the offense off the field for a lot of the game like North Dakota State put a blueprint of exactly what they wanted to do but shador comes down the field to start the second half they're trailing gets the luckiest interception in the history of the world look it up dude he throws it it bounces off a DB's calf on the ground bounces up North Dakota State intercepts it and with the culture that they're building at Colorado everything could have gone the other way shador comes right down the field man not shaking touchdown Drive touchdown Drive really put some separation between them and North Dakota State shador Sanders is going to continue to put up numbers GNA be a first round draft pick he was a dude this weekend Kyle McCord Fran Brown said it best I should send Ryan Day a bottle of champagne for allowing us to get Kyle McCord one man's trash is another man's treasure Fran Brown takes over at Syracuse he's not gonna get it he's not gonna get Kyle McCord out of high school that guy's going to Ohio State he's a five-star highly rated quarterback but the great thing about the transfer portal is they can go somewhere else they can go they can go wherever they want after they if they didn't if they didn't win the job or they find they don't find favor where they go Fran Brown is happy to have them throws for 354 in four touchdowns that's a heck of a debut for Kyle McCord he's a dude all right Dylan Stewart The Freshman stud from South Carolina defensive end dude he is a pretty body 66 250 PBS number six coming off the edge he made the biggest game-changing play in the ODU game you say it's ODU I don't care if it's ODU I don't care who it is South Carolina would have lost this game if Dylan Stewart doesn't step up and make plays forces a fumble on the six yard line six minutes left in the game when South Carolina was trailing he was recruited by everybody in the country he was a n he was ranked the 19th player in the country last year Georgia tried to get him Ohio State tried to get him Miami tried to get him South Carolina got him and in week one paid huge dividends dude made a play that saved the football game all right last one taroa taroa is is taroa McMillan is from Arizona this dude is an absolute stud here's here's the deal every week he's going to make plays he's 6 fo five he's a former volleyball player he probably be the first wide receiver taken in the draft he just went for 304 yards and four touchdowns in game one like just throw it up that former volleyball player like I said he'll go up and get it he'll make plays he's got unbelievable feet unbelievable hands everything's outside of his frame when he catches it he'll be a dude you hear about the NFL draft because he's that good he's probably going to be the first wide receiver taken he's in Arizona he's going to continue to put up with his quarterback highlight moments week after Oklahoma NIL WIN week and this ain't the last time he'll be a dude of the week and last but not least the top performer of the week and this has absolutely zero to do with what you did on the field that you can be a great player you can be a walk-on it really doesn't matter and speaking of Walk-Ons this story has something to do with it Danny stutzman okay linebacker for Oklahoma in a world where it's all about me and it's all about nil and making money and and that's fine and everybody has the freedom to do that this dude brings up all of his Walk-Ons and he says hey guys I just want to let you know that I got you taken care of of and I'm getting nil and I'm thankful for it but I want you to be a part of it like one of the coolest gestures in all of college football so Danny is our top performer of the week listen to me when you think about Walk-Ons all they do is serve like I remember at the University of Georgia we had a guy named Bert Jones who's who's now in politics actually in kind of a big deal but Bert like he brought it every day he made us better he brought it on special teams and he never got a scholarship and he wasn't proclaimed and talked about a ton but but the dude made the whole football team better they're the backbones of programs and so for for Danny stutzman to take care of his fellow walk-on Brethren dude we We Salute You and uh you are the top performer of the week because it's not all about what you do on the field we also want to find those great things that are going on off the field and give you guys a salute because um we need more of this in life and and in college football
