home Happy from Belleville Municipal stadium in Belleville New Jersey we welcome you to the 29th annual Paul Robeson All-Star football classic it's the best of the East taking on The Best of the West Welcome to the broadcast Booth everybody great to have you with us Eddie McCarthy alongside Matt giovoni and Matt it's a special night for all of these players because they're all seniors and it's going to be the last time they get to represent their High School yeah absolutely and that's just a special moment in your senior year being able to especially with some schools ending early this year some of these kids might be out of school already so getting that last chance to represent your high school before you go off to college if you are going to play in college it's just a special moment for all of them and they're really going to want to go out there and perform and now a lot of the players that we'll see tonight are already committed to college but there are some who aren't and so if you're a scout scouting uncommitted college prospects what are you looking for from these kids I mean I equate this game a lot to what you might see in the preseason and the NFL some of your kids that are committed to college or stars out there are going to just go out and have a fun time with it but there's also going to be the few that want to really prove themselves and make it to that next level and this is the last opportunity literally the last opportunity they will have in an organized game in high school so they're definitely going to use it to the best of their ability all right well let's talk about the West because one thing they've certainly got is some offensive Firepower they've got Randolph Sean Clark who had one of the best years of any public school quarterback in the state and they've got Jamil Chalmers from passaicus as debt who's as Dynamic a running back as we're gonna see tonight yeah and I mean Sean Clark anybody that's watched our broadcast throughout the football season in the fall knows that name because he's just electric a week after week after week he was one of if not the consensus player of the game 28 touchdowns on only nine interceptions those are numbers that are definitely going to get you into college a name that's not familiar to many in the Morris and Sussex County area Jamil Chalmers from Passaic high school but also a very good player over a thousand yards rushing 8.8 yards per carry eight touchdowns he's definitely going to pair well with Sean Clark and I think we're going to see a very good West offense meantime the East has got some defensive studs on their roster especially they are loaded with pass rushers Quentin Reed from weak wake kamani Deacon from East Orange two names who stick out yeah this makes me think back all the way to the playoffs when we were talking about Sean Clark and how he would do against North Hunterdon and the biggest problem he had was their past rush and I think that he's going to take it as a chance to challenge these kids but definitely Kwame Deacon and Clinton Reed from loquayak and East Orange respective Lee 26 combined sacks between the two of them that is a pass rush that many quarterbacks don't want to face especially at this High School level and it's definitely going to be a challenge well it should be a fun night here in Belleville we'll take a look at some of the rule changes for tonight's game when we return stick with us on Morris Sussex Sports this game is brought to you by Aaron Missouri of State Farm in Randolph my licensed and experienced team members Payroll solution visit them at anchorpays.com or call 800-660-7089 well this is an All-Star Game and that means the rules are going to be slightly different first and foremost no kickoffs we'll have punts we'll have Pats we'll have field goals but the kickoff has been removed from this game after a scoring play or to begin a drive drives will start at your own 25-yard line rule number two defenses are not going to be allowed to Blitz here in the All-Star game and then the third biggest rule change we have to worry about instead of the onside kick this is a new one instead of the onside kick you can attempt a fourth and 12 from your own 40-yard line if you convert it you retain possession and get to keep the ball so that could be something that could come in handy come the fourth quarter if we have a tight game as for the two coaches both these coaches first time head coaches in this event Mark Dupree from Passaic he'll run the West head coach at Passaic high school then kalfani Allen who we talked to before the game head coach of the East also the head coach at Orange High School coach Allen played in this game back in 2001 and there was some concern Matt earlier on in the day that this would be a hot and humid type of atmosphere but we've got perfect weather for football 77 degrees partly cloudy 50 percent humidity just a great night for these players to go out and compete oh it's definitely comfortable and it's drawn a break a big crowd you could always tell the weather by the size of the crowd and it's it's a packed stands a very big stand at Bellevue High School and there's not many seats that aren't full right now so definitely great weather for tonight's event broadcast tonight presented by homework helpers their customized learning and passion exploring programs are the perfect way to beat the dreaded summer slump call 908-876-1776 to learn about their programs including small group tutoring for only 45 dollars officials meeting with the teams right now at Midfield just to go over a couple of things and when we talked to both of these coaches one thing that they were one thing they both had in common was they were really impressed with how quickly these players were able to take to systems and Concepts they only had six practices but they took to it extremely well and I mean that's just when you get all of these All-Stars together that's something you've got to expect they understand the game a little bit more especially at the high school level when there's not there can be size differences but it's really more of a technical aspect and it's really the first time where you see people evolve and get better than their competition and that's how these players were able to get to this point and remember there was definitely some concern last week and these teams lost some practice time because of all the bad air quality issues that we had so when you think about it that way it's even more impressive how quickly these teams have been able to come together oh absolutely especially you know fighting through whatever scenario or whatever you know bad air quality nobody could have expected that but being able to get through that definitely a positive and something that just highlights all of these abilities well here we go the West won the matchup last year 19 nothing in front of a crowd of around 1200 people I think we have more here tonight as Caleb selters out of Hillside will be the quarterback of the East and he will get us started operating from the 25-yard line out of the gun rushing four selters pass is going to be dropped out of the backfield by Elijah Stewart the running back out of Union it'll be second down and ten Elijah Stewart he he was a running back that wasn't afraid to get a screen like that and take it far during the regular season he does have four receptions for 103 yards that converts to about 26 yards per reception so if he is able to receive the ball at any point on the field he could definitely do some damage Stewart Bound for Hudson Valley Community College meanwhile Caleb Salters were taking his talents to Elizabeth City University division two School in North Carolina here he is under pressure Salter's out to his right floats it over the top and the pass incomplete down the far sideline intended for Nate Brown the wide out out of Bloomfield and it'll be third down and tenth and that was a good look for Nate Brown there Salter's just a little bit over his head there definitely good to see him getting the passing going early though and taking those good looks not trying to force anything if Nate Brown had a step maybe on the defensive back would have probably been a big reception one thing kalfani Allen said to us when we talked to him yesterday is he was really impressed with the speed of some of these wide receivers and it's man on man right now they have an opportunity to show off that speed here selters out to his right fires pass incomplete it was broken up but a good play by Jaheim best the defensive back from Patterson east side and a three and out starts the night for the East that was a really good breakup from jaheem best he hit him at the exact right moment where it wasn't a pass interference but also he took away one of the receiver's arms so there was basically no chance for him to reel that in unless he was going to make a miraculous catch to start this game out Gage Hammond who's committed to play division three football at Wesleyan University up in manescac is the punter Hammond also punted in the Phil Sims north south All-Star Classic on Sunday night he was a late call up as an alternate happened out of Montclair High School it's good protection but didn't catch this one very well fortunately for him it takes a pretty good bounce Elijah Carroll touched the football and that's live oh a mistake made by Elijah Carroll it's recovered by Tyler wind from Irvington and the West makes a special team's mistake after their defense forced to three and out that was a huge mistake there and just excellent from the dead of the from the Special Teams to be able to jump on top of that that was I don't want to misnumber him I believe that was the number 54 who was just really good on that Patrick Carter who was able to stop the Return Man from getting that ball back just an excellent play there Tyler went out of Irvington on the recovery for the east so now a new set of downs Salters wants to go for it all and it's out of the reach looking for Chiron Hill and the pass was about a stride in front of him as Caleb Salter shows off his arm second to ten now and I'm really impressed with Caleb Salter so far they throwing work that they've given him he only attempted 160 passes throughout this this most recent High School season he was a 56 completion percentage definitely above average for a high school quarterback but again not as much work as you would think for an All-Star but he's showing off now why he's at this game with some really good passes so far and some good looks from him Salters who led his Hillside team to a 9-2 record they'd lose in the north one group three final to Old Japan who eventually was the champ in group three handoff on second down Elijah Stewart testing the left side as a flag comes in as it stands it's a pickup of about five or six but we'll hear for the first time tonight from our official Chef Utz flag came in on the far side of the field it was thrown by the side judge and they are going to pick up the flag so they gave Stewart six yards so it'll be third down and four from the 27-yard line as Salters has opened the game oh for four throwing the football yeah and it's it's tough as the quarterback to come out and have that dry streak to start off but definitely something that if he gets a few receptions gets out of his own way a little bit he's going to be able to put the ball on his receivers and get something going jabril Bridge been the Speedster lined up near side and he jumped early so jabril Bridge been a little bit too eager for a one-on-one match-up with the quarterback from Madison Joaquin Izzo and that'll cost his team five yards and push them back to third down and nine and that's a tough mistake in the early going definitely something they want to avoid especially here in the All-Star Game it's it's a time to show off your skills but they do want to take it a little easy and not force so many penalties Bridgeman committed to play division one football at Sacred Heart he'll get his one-on-one match up again here lined up bottom of your screen as the East will go four wide on third down and nine Salters asked to escape to his right everybody's covered back to the near side Salter's sideline out of bounds near the 25-yard line pushed down at the 26 to bring up fourth down in three and it'll be the first decision of the night for California Allen the head coach of the East and there you see the second side to Caleb Salters 68 attempts for 341 yards about five yards per carry six touchdowns he can run the ball when he needs to and you see right there it's not always a design quarterback run he can get out of trouble so they will keep the offense on the field you've got Elijah Stewart the big back in the backfield as they go four wide again Salters rolling out to his left this time saltzer's fires sideline it complete near the goal line tried to go back shoulder to jabril Bridgeman pass was incomplete well covered by Joaquin Izzo and a turnover on Downs for the east and again that was another really good look Bridgeman even had the turnaround timed up pretty well I just don't think that he was ready for the ball exactly when he turned around Caleb Salters again only six practices and if they played the whole season I think that would have been a touchdown because with more time playing together they would have had that more experience to be able to anticipate that ball arriving at that moment so now Sean Clark gets a chance the quarterback from Randolph who had a tremendous year 28 touchdown passes to just nine picks and he will work out of the pistol they'll start it on the ground Jamil Chalmers gets the first touch and picks up about one off the left side to bring up second down and nine they gave him two call it second and eight and with the no blitzing rule the matchup really that is going to be exciting to see is what Jamil Chalmers can do up against that Rush of Quentin Reed and Kwame Deacon who aren't going to get as many sacks obviously with the no Blitz but they're going to be able to cause havoc in those rushing Lanes jalmers the leading rusher for Passaic High School this year committed to play division two football at Pace University in New York over a thousand yards rushing on the year for Chalmers second down and eight Man in Motion that's Elijah Carroll trying the left side on the Jet Sweep and well covered by Alex Rodriguez out of Verona for the East just a gate of two and that'll bring up third down and six and that's just another really good defensive play from Alex Rodriguez this defense is definitely covered all possible running Lanes so far they're almost begging Sean Clark to try to attack him in the air and I think that's going to be interesting to see if they continue to do that and if Sean Clark's able to get going in there Clark committed to Gettysburg led the Rams to an appearance in the sectional Final in group four where they would be defeated by North Hunterdon Carol in motion again they'll keep it on the ground that's Jonah Ripley and Ripley gets clogged up at the 35 and it'll bring up fourth down and one and now Mark Dupree has a decision to make three different plays three different runs to three different players the West is definitely coming out with an interesting offensive look so far the most surprising part about it all is the fact that Sean Clark didn't throw any time on that drive so they will send out the punt team they'll send out AJ pachoda who doubles as a tight end on this West roster from Dover you got Kyron Hill and Tamir Jackson back deep for the east but shoda left-footed angles it towards the left sideline they want to keep it out of the hands of the speedsters but it'll be jabril Bridgeman actually here who will get a chance and he's getting tackled by half the East roster at the 30-yard line and that'll take us to our first break of the first quarter just under seven and a half to play no score here in the Paul ropes an All-Star Classic on Morris Sussex Sports this game is brought to you by Aaron Missouri of State Farm in Randolph my licensed and experienced team members are here to serve you for all of your Insurance and financial service needs in New Jersey and New York we offer excellent customer service and our office is conveniently located in Randolph New Jersey for free auto home 2023 Paul ropes an All-Star classic brought to you by anchor payroll the Complete Payroll solution visit them at anchorpays.com or call 800-600-7089 new quarterback in the game for the East this series will go to Weston Fisher from Scotch Plains he'll start on the ground Elijah Stewart doesn't go anywhere off the left side he gets swallowed up and yellow vacciano from Madison one of the white jerseys in on the tackle Elijah Stewart has had just a a little bit of a slow start getting going here definitely trying to get into his own Elijah Stewart we know from the season 26 yards per reception and then 6.4 yards per carry he can get those big chunk plays he just needs to find his rhythm and that's what they're trying to have him do here at the early going of this game Elijah Stewart from Union we mentioned on the first series committed to play football collegiately at Hudson Valley the junior college as for Wes Fisher from Scotch Plains six foot one 185 pounds and on second down and ten hands off right side and finding a little bit of space around that edge is Eric Harris and Harris stopped at the 36 yard line to bring up third down at seven and that was really good vision from Eric Harris there he stopped behind his offensive line that took a second to see what lanes were closing up and what lanes were opening and turned a potential loss into a decent gain there definitely what you want to see from another running back I believe that is the first carry they haven't gone with Elijah Stewart so Eric Harris who's listed on the roster as a linebacker out of Montclair Immaculate getting a touch on the second series of the game so third down and seven they need the 43 for a first here's Fisher design roll to his right hand down he goes oh well he stayed on his feet and now he'll go down it was fasciano who had the first shot at him he slipped away and then Sullivan Pitts finished him off as the Clifton senior grabs his first sack of the All-Star Game Solomon Pitts a very impressive player throughout the season not only on defense but on offense two he makes an impact wherever he goes and his ability to stick with that play just proves why he's such a good player on offense and defense he never takes his head out of a situation Sullivan Pitts who only had one sack on the year for Clifton is the first defensive player to record a sack air in the ropes and classic so Gage Hammond busy early this is his second punts of the night so far Hammond sends it away and letting it roll is Elijah Carroll and this woman will take a very friendly bounce for the East so well done by Hammond flipping the field down at the 22-yard line so Sean Clark and Company back to work when we return 443 remaining here in the first quarter with no score this game is brought to you by Aaron Missouri of State Farm in Randolph my licensed and experienced team members are here to serve you for all of your Insurance and financial service needs in New Jersey and New York we offer excellent big big big deal but I know I started right because CCMS are the top two percent of community colleges in the nation and at Target College of 2023 Paul ropes an All-Star classic presented by homework helpers this summer they're ready to help you conquer any exam SATs acts Gres lsats mcats homework helpers has you covered call 908 876-1776 to learn about their test preparation program and set up your initial assessment well Sean Clark remaining at quarterback for the West they do have another quarterback on the roster in Brent Rojas but he was a late addition to the squad after Mark Dupree's team had an injury to deal with so Clark will get the Lion's Share of the Reps tonight if you will and he's certainly earned them Clark over 2 000 yards passing this year completion percentage at 55 percent Bound for Gettysburg spoke briefly to his head coach will nahan at The Sims Classic on Sunday and asked him about Sean and he had nothing but good things to say Clark throws it for the first time out on the edge passes caught and getting trapped after about two yards is Andrew caridia out of Hackettstown or should I say Makai Gray from Wayne Hills and they're still playing a little conservative there Sean Clark does finally get a passing opportunity but again just uh uh simple screen pass where you're not really taking too many risks Sean Clark I can only imagine we are going to see is going to progress into what we know him as as the Deep downfield passer that can just torch any secondary Clark somewhat of a unicorn in today's high school sports sees a three-sport athlete you don't see too many of those anymore football basketball and Lacrosse for now the X Randolph ramp hand off on second down left side Andrew caridia out of Hackettstown and karidia who's perhaps the biggest dual threat skill player will see in this game will set up a third down and two What A year karidia had 400 yards through the air 462 on the ground yeah I was just about to say caridio and add on 13 touchdowns between the air and the ground a big part of that Hackettstown turnaround that we saw this year going from a winless team to a team that won five in a row to start the year and Korea was a huge part of that uh the highly skilled player and also a really nice guy if you get a chance to talk to him like we did all the way back last at the end of last summer at the so now you've got a wildcat type formation in the game Bren Rojas came in at quarterback ball was handed off and stuffed immediately at the line I think that was lucky carton who they brought in to play running back Carton and Ryan Wong from Morris Knowles were both in the game they get stuffed and that sets up a fourth down and one so Clark on the sideline for that play they brought in Brent Rojas who has the advantage playing for Passaic his head coach Mark Dupree is the coach of the West and Coach Dupree said to us that part of the reason they brought in Rojas was there wasn't really much adjusting he'd have to do with the system he's already comfortable with it yeah absolutely and I mean it's apparent there you're not going to do a wild card play uh not a wild card excuse me wildcat play after six practices with Sean Clark who you've never coached before so definitely can open up the toolbox so fourth down and one they'll keep the offense on the field three backs in the formation and a lot of dancing around going on up front and it appears that Rojas was just trying to draw the East offside so the West will take their first time out of the night and if they do decide to go for it it's going to be a fourth down and a yard and a half balls on the 31-yard line they need about the 32 and a half for a first down so it says on the scoreboard that it's fourth and one but it's really fourth and a long one in in what's been a scoreless game so far it's it's gonna be a interesting decision because you don't know whether you want to take a risk now and try to get something going although it looks like there's not going to be any risk going on right now they do send in the punt team they send in Robert McCullough for Newton what a career he had both punting and Kicking for Newton outstanding for Matt parzaro's team and it was nearly blocked McCullough just got it away and they're going to throw a flag by the spot that he kicked the football punt is returned out past the 35-yard line and regardless of whether This Is the personal foul or five-yard penalty variety either way it's going to be enough for an automatic first down for the West yeah and I I did see McCullough go down pretty hard there so pretty cut and dry penalty if you don't get that you got to either make contact with the ball or not hit the kicker there you cannot make contact with the kicker like that or you're just going to get penalized that's going to happen every time well it's just the five yard penalty but again it doesn't really matter it was fourth down and one so that's an automatic first down for the west and now Sean Clark who has gifted a new series or a new set of downs rather is going to reassume command of this offense for the west and Mark Dupree they've got six counties represented in this All-Star Game the West is comprised of players from Morris Sussex and Passaic counties the East represented by Essex Hudson and Union County Union a new addition to the game this year on first down Clark out to his right fires towards the sideline passes behind Elijah Carroll from Patterson East Side second down and ten and Sean Clark on the run like that there's the first really experimental pass we've seen and I say experimental in the fact that it's not just a simple screen or run up the middle definitely going to see a bit more trickery I should say or expansive play calling from the West as Sean Clark's able to get going here and one thing that we can certainly say as we get a look at some of the some of the packages and formations early for this West team is the East they have Speedy receivers the West has got some big whiteouts Makai gray 18 and white in particular lined up near side of your screen out of Wayne Hills he is one large man he's got a one-on-one match up Clark looking the other way and that's a miscommunication pass was intended for Michael karitzis from pcti Passaic County Tech but he wasn't even looking for the football so that brings up third down and ten say County Tech a huge success this year that school had and definitely with four players representing represented in the west they want to keep that going tough loss to Toms River North definitely not or Toms River excuse me not the best way to end your season they wanted that state championship but again this All-Star game is a chance to represent your high school one more time and that's what these players are really trying to go out there and do today correct sits the leading receiver on pcti committed to play football at Montclair State a lot of division two and three athletes in this game we've got a handful of division one guys but mainly division two and three some pressure on Clark gets it away towards the sideline incomplete intended for Carroll and Sean Clark definitely has a little bit of a relationship I guess you could say with Carol he likes to Target him when he's under a little bit of pressure as we've seen so far it's going to be interesting to see how that evolves as the game goes forward Elijah Carroll targeted twice on that series committed to East Stroudsburg they list him on the roster as a running back Carol also a guy you can clearly line up out wide so it appears that the West is going to alter the West are going to alternate punters over the course of the night AJ pachoda now out to punt they've got a left-footed punter pachoda and the right footed punter McCullough Soda gets this one away hit it pretty well it's bobbled at the 25-yard line and well covered by Elijah Carroll downfield as it was Tamir Jackson from Newark East Side who could not handle the punt cleanly and so the East will start at the 26 yard line and as we're a little under 11 minutes into this game a little bit surprising how slow it's been starting wise for the offenses yeah and we we saw this just a couple days ago of the Phil Simms All-Star Game sometimes an All-Star game doesn't mean you're gonna see a 40-37 shootout it could be a battle of defenses a battle of head coaching strategies some of these players might also just be a little rusty again had only six practices with each other Weston Fisher back in at quarterback for the east as Caleb Salters will take this series off get things going with a Jet Sweep this is Josh pinnick and pinick out to the 29-yard line High School had Samar Harrison in on the stop there beg your pardon that was Angelo vashiano I believe and Josh pennick saw his fair share of success on jet sweeps and running plays this season as with only 14 attempts he went 108 yards in a touchdown good chance this will be the last quarter unless it's of course unless of course it's an incomplete pass ER from Scotch Plains Fanwood he'll hand the ball off and the ball might have popped out at the end of the play but Eric Harris getting another touch who again is listed as a linebacker but he's gotten a couple of touches as a running back here early in this ball game and you talk about brick walls Eric Harris really did just run into a brick wall which was the defensive line there you could almost see his momentum snap back as he was taken off his feet and there's just no getting past that and so that will take us to the end of the first quarter of play here in the 29th annual Paul Robeson All-Star classic no score between the East and the West a defensive slug Fest to begin here on Morris Sussex Sports this game is brought to you by Aaron Missouri of State Farm in Randolph my licensed and experienced team members are here to serve you for all of your Insurance and County College of Morris I get to you from over 100 programs whether you're just out of high school like me exploring career options like me or seeking lifelong learning like me make CCM your choice like me go big and visit ccm.edu and aspire to be you [Music] you're there for them we're here for you get back the life you up third down and three for the east as we start the second quarter and it's going to get a little bit longer movement up front we'll push them back to third down and eight and their defensive game like this that's definitely not how you want to start the second quarter they both teams want to get some offense going it could be whoever strikes first maybe either gets a shootout going or gets a blowout going either way both teams want to get some points on the board first down available for the east at the 36-yard line they go back to four wide with Wes Fisher at quarterback in the game only a four-man Rush plenty of time he'll go underneath to jabril Bridgeman a lot of work to do and he's not going to get anywhere near Jaheim best out of Patterson East Side one of the white jerseys who met him and here comes the punt team for the east and that was a really good defensive recognition from Jaheim best being able to he pointed out the curl route basically as soon as it started pointed out the receiver and was able to just cover him the whole time not give him anything that's what you want to do as a defensive back and it's that type of recognition that if you're not already committed to College college Scouts are looking for well like we said at the top of the show probably 65 70 maybe a little bit higher of the players in this game tonight are committed to play college football but there are certainly a handful of guys who are not and there are scouts at attendance here tonight and those players are hunting for opportunities Gage Hammond out of Montclair third punt of the night and they will keep it away from The Return Man for the West Eric Jackson and the West will start at the 39-yard line as that's where the ball ended up going out of bounds [Music] Eddie McCarthy Matt giovoni here for Morris Sussex Sports Broadcast tonight presented by Salerno Dwayne Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram and Salerno Dwayne Ford located in Summit New Jersey near Route 24. they're proud sponsors of the 2023 Paul Robeson All-Star classic offering great savings and a quick transaction their outstanding customer service has earned them the Carfax 2022 top rated lifetime dealer award Brent Rojas the quarterback for the West to start this series it starts with a botched Exchange and the West fortunate just to get back to the line of scrimmage and it'll be second down in 10. and Brett Rojas is definitely getting used different than Sean Clark is going to get used in this game Brent Rojas is a lot more of a game manager setting up big runs and different opportunities in the backfield while Sean Clark as we saw in his last few past attempts starting to look downfield a little bit more just 269 yards passing on the year for Brent Rojas to go with about 150 on the ground back to the ground they go Jamil Chalmers finds an opening and Chalmers explodes across the 45-yard line down to the 42 and the first time a running back has seen any type of daylight here this evening there's your first big chunk play and that was set up by Brent Rojas faking out the defense with the first fake handoff then getting it to Jameel Chalmers and there was just very little in his way to be able to pick up that big game over a thousand yards rushing this season for Jamil Chalmers running back out of Passaic he'll remain in here on First and Ten miscommunication on the play they'll dump it off on a screen to Jonah Ripley out of High Point and Ripley's got some room as he spits out of the backfield down to the 33-yard line right by the change and we'll the chains and we'll see if it's enough for a first down and it is so that looked like somewhat of a botched play but fortunately Rojas was able to spot Ripley yeah and that's the type of play that Ripley and that whole High Point offense that he was a part of this year kind of fed off of was those plays where you kind of just have to make something happen in the few times I did get to see High Point Jonah Ripley and the whole offense was able to thrive on those miscommunications and turn them into big games that's how they got some of that success that they saw in their wins this season so I think Jonah Ripley while it may have been a miscommunication almost took advantage from it Ripley will be playing his college ball at Grove City College division three School in Pennsylvania we are flying here in the opening half already under nine minutes to play here in the second quarter we started at seven o'clock out of the pistol Rojas will keep it and take off a good run on first down from the quarterback Rojas down to the 26-yard line a pickup of seven and that one looked like another maybe not miscommunication but Rojas didn't exactly know where his help would be there it just took off and went with it and another nice gain that might be the key to the West Success is Not Looking downfield for the big passes but rather just confusing this defense with a series of runs that isn't exactly normal to even this High School offense no one has been down this far offensively since the first series of the game for the East which of course was set up by a botched West punt return and off right side Caleb padawani out of Lakeland has himself a first down gets inside the Red Zone and down to the 17-yard line that was just another really good run there from Caleb padawani he had a not a lot of attempts but it made it very good yardage with the attempts that he did have 7.1 yards per carry four touchdowns on only 35 attempts so definitely not your feature back maybe in that Lakeland offense but he made it work with what he had padawani another guy who's committed to play at Grove City in Pennsylvania he'll be teammates with Jonah Ripley Caleb padawani his brother Josh was also a terrific player for Lakeland to the West in the red zone for the first time tonight back to Padawan he makes a cut in padawani inside the 10 and still on his feet before he crashes down near the five-yard line a pickup of 12 and that sets up first down and goal padawani after the cut uses momentum perfectly probably got three or four more yards because of the way he was able to fall down and absorb the contact a very good run there from him Caleb padawani this year about 250 yards worth of rushing and four touchdowns to go with it and you can tell that he's not the biggest guy but he is explosive and he certainly knows how to make a cut they'll go shotgun on first and goal snap gets away from Rojas what can he do with it now he'll be tackled at around the 12-yard line as he tried to scramble but there was just nowhere to go yeah and on that play Rojas simply got a little bit ahead of himself he was ready to hand the ball off before the ball was even in his hands and that's where you get a botch snap like that and he's just fortunate that he was able to get the ball back Ryan Wong has been in the game for the past couple of plays number 20 in white the running back for Morris Knowles but has not yet gotten to touch in this ball game and Wong on the sideline for this play I think we covered pretty much all of Morris Knowles's games this year on Morris Sussex Sports so he's a guy we certainly know how Dynamic he can be but when you do it when you have an All-Star Game you've got a lot of running backs who can play so all these guys are probably not going to get the volume of reps that they want here tonight they're going to have to capitalize when they can Rojas pressure in his face and down he goes what a tremendous defensive play from Andrew Boyle out of Verona and a big sack and a huge loss will knock the West all the way back to their own 24-yard line that was just a picture-perfect shoestring tackle there used rojas's momentum to his favor by just taking his foot out from under him Rojas wasn't able to recover there and that's exactly how you stop a drive like this from getting into the end zone and it looked like if Rojas could have gotten away from Boyle there was some room there off that on the near sideline under five and a half to play here in the first half and I would think Matt right here you're pretty much playing for field goal kicking position yeah I would be surprised if we saw a deep shot down into the end zone especially considering the scoreless game where only five minutes out from halftime they will reach into the bag of tricks Elijah Carroll and it's well played by the East that a large hit to go with it as kamani Deacon popped Elijah Carroll kikamani Deacon add to his highlight reel this late in the summer that was just an insane tackle there and Elijah Carroll has just stopped in his tracks nothing he could do about it so that will bring out Robert McCullough who will try from about 38 yards his long this year was 35 and the warm-up we saw him make from 45. [Music] not in college yet so he will get to use the kicking tee as the West is confused and they'll have to take a timeout they did not have the right Personnel on the field as that is something you can't expect in All-Star games special teams certainly gets confusing absolutely and Robert mccola as a field goal kicker might be more experienced in that area than anybody else in any of their respective areas on this field over a hundred field goals in his high school career that is a number that few get to put up and definitely experience that you want to bring into this All-Star Game well he was all but automatic on Pats this year 54 for 57 of course he burst onto the scene when in the covet shortened 2020 season week two he won the big rivalry game for Newton against letipy Valley a tight defensive battle all day long and McCullough would come in and make a 28-yard game-winning field goal at the end he's been Big Man on Campus ever since he was a sophomore 38-4 McCullough right hash and McCullough got blasted the kick got deflected and it didn't make it anywhere near the uprights Hakeem Ripley was the first one to come crashing through from Newark Center rather from Lincoln and the West will come away without three points and he can't really blame mccola for that one about every east Defender was past the line there before McCullough even had a chance to kick that ball so it's it's just it's just a tough situation for him he had to seize up because he had impending contact he didn't want to get blasted there on the kick for opening scoring field goal so mccola protects himself but at a risk of missing that three I feel like I'm watching The Sims game again because and we also had a scoreless I mean both of these teams have just have to hope that they can get a little more scoring going in the second half and now timeout taken by the East that's their first to the half and we'll take one with them so no score 408 to go here in the first half in the poll ropes and All-Star Classic on Morris Sussex Sports this game is brought to you by Aaron Missouri of State Farm in Randolph my license and experienced team members are here to serve you for all of your Insurance and financial service needs in New Jersey and New York we offer excellent customer service and our office is conveniently located in Randolph New Jersey for free auto home life or business quote visit us at aramisarily.com or call us at 973-389-9999 choosing a college is a big big big deal but I know I started right because CCM is in the top two percent of community colleges in the nation and at County College of Morris I get to choose over 100 programs with out of the timeout it's First and Ten for the East with 408 to go they've got two timeouts to work with and 80 yards to go Caleb Salters back in the game Salter's has to escape out to his left being chased by Carter from Mendham and he'll Scamper out of bounds after about two yards as Patrick Carter was the guy who forced him to break outside the pocket and that's just a smart play there from Salters being able to recognize there was nothing happening in the second or two he had left in the pocket before he would have gotten sacked so just to roll out get whatever yardage you can and reset for second down definitely what you want to see in an All-Star game from an All-Star quarterback Salters a three-year starter at Hillside for his head coach there Barris Grant that program has consistently been one of the better teams in North Jersey got to a sectional final to be defeated by old Japan who ended up winning all of group three selters escapes the pocket again out towards the sideline and passes incomplete as he had pressure in his face as big Solomon Pitts was coming after him and it brings up third down and eight and Salter's there again a smart play from him on a bad situation was rolling out was going to try to rush for some yards there but again Solomon Pitts who was almost gaining on him there despite the size difference so definitely don't want to get contacted from him so just to throw it away so we expected the West to be carried by their offense in the East to be backed by their defense but right now it seems to me that the West is doing a really good job on Salters and on Fisher the two East quarterbacks yeah absolutely they're just getting in their face and forcing mistakes which is all you want to do in a game like this third down and eight from the 22 need the 30. only a four-man Rush Salters deep shot Hill has it inside the 45. Kyron Hill out of Orange High School goes up and makes a tremendous play to give soltzers his first completion and you cannot Target Chiron Hill that often without him getting a reception he's been targeted a couple times in this game that time goes over the defender's head beautiful catch and that's the first chunk play for the East they needed that Kyron Hill who is still undecided about where he wants to attend college this year next year rather but makes the best play of the half so far at least offensively on first down here is Elijah Stewart who has really had nowhere to go here in tonight's game he'll pick up three and get to the 40. Elijah Stewart has somewhat of a big frame for his height so definitely trying to use that to his Advantage but in this All-Star game when you've got a lot of Defenders who also have big frames for their height it's going to be tough to keep up that style of running that might have worked during the regular season for his high school team and how big was that last completion to hail just for Salter's confidence that was his first completed pass oh I mean he's been very close to On Target all night so to be able to get one especially to Kyron Hill who's just an excellent receiver he hopes to get that going in the second half and really continue to develop that relationship back to Stewart on second down nowhere to go and the ball popped out and the West is saying they have it and they do [Music] Geo Duran from Clifton makes the recovery looked like rajette levister was there from Passaic to poke it out and it's a turnover for the East just as they were starting to build some momentum and Elijah Stewart had two options on that run he could have cut to the side and taken a tackle for loss most likely or cut up the middle and try for something he cut up the middle and it didn't work in his favor as he did fumble ran into the brick wall there and there's nothing you could do against that defense which has just been solid tonight so now it'll be Sean Clark and crew who will have a chance to run a two-minute drill right before the half and see if they can cash in and put some points on the board remember they've got an outstanding kicker in Robert McCullough there was nothing wrong with any of McCullough's kicks in the warm-up and the one that got blocked certainly was not his fault Clark wants to go for it wide open passcode at the 30. and all the way down to the 14-yard line goes Elijah Carroll and the West into the red zone with two minutes to go and speaking of good receivers developing relationships with their quarterback Elijah Carroll absolutely great route there Sean Clark is so used to it that Randolph receiving Corey was excellent at doing the same thing Elijah Carroll just did getting past their Defender and once you're past them if there's no safety to help out Sean Clark will find the receiver and he will hurt you for big gain like we saw there Elijah Carroll the wide receiver out of Patterson East Side and what a first half that he has had in a first half where there has not been a whole lot of offensive success for anybody quarterbacks running backs receivers tight ends Carroll here lined up one on one Clark will hand off and Jamil Chalmers bounces it to the outside and Chalmers forced out of Bounds at the nine yard line on a pickup of five and Jamil Chalmers just showed us why he was hey he ran over a thousand yards this season that cut from basically a 90 degree angle was really good and helped him get maybe an extra yard or two that he wouldn't have had if he wasn't able to make it so second down in five now from the nine they can get a first down at the four Sean Clark commanding this two-minute drill as he did so successfully so many times over the course of the regular season with Randolph through for five touchdowns in that sectional final loss to North hundred and it's the East is going to take their second time out of the half here and we'll take a quick break right along with them the West is threatening they're on the East Nine 118 remaining here in the first half this game is brought to you by Aaron Missouri of State Farm in Randolph my licensed and experienced team members are here auto home life or business quote visit us at aramisarelli.com or call us at 973-389-9999 choosing a college is a big big big deal but I know I started right because CCM is in the top two percent of community colleges in the nation and at County College of Morris I get you from over 100 programs whether you're just out of high school like me exploring career options like me or seeking lifelong learning like me make CCM your choice like me go big and visit ccm.edu and aspire to be here thank you second down in five out of the East timeout 118 to go for Sean Clark ball on the East Nine Clark End Zone shot pass is good for the touchdown Michael carritzis out of pcti in the west strikes first and that's just a Sean Clark specialty right there being able to just hit a beautiful over the head shot there that only his receiver could get that's exactly what Sean Clark is used to and that's exactly what Michael karitzis was used to at Passaic Tech High School had a very impressive season himself 18.3 yards per reception and a touchdown only one touchdown on the season but he did some damage in the terms of yardage so now Robert McCullough out for the pat 54 for 57 on the year snap is a hot little bit high and it gets blocked so special teams are a problem right now for the West as they've now left four points on the board in about the past three or four minutes as first it was the block field goal and now the blocked extra point and with their shortened practice sessions I don't I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that the West didn't do that much in terms of special teams and it's hurting them right now as they're just not on the same page out there and that's two blocked kicks in a row that day you just cannot let that happen so now remember no kickoffs so the East will start from Their Own 25-yard Line they've got 72 seconds to work with one time out for Caleb Salters and his posse of Speedy receivers to try and work their way down the field we've got Kyron Hill lined up in the far slot left hit him on the last series for a big Gainer Salters has to escape the pocket fires towards the sideline passes caught inbounds by jabril Bridgeman Lawrence high school officials giving the signal to wind the clock it's good for seven but now Salters has to get his crew up and moving that was just a smart play from Bridgeman getting down and making sure to secure the catch there although the clock is an enemy Salters rolling to his right now going back the other way splitting Defenders Caleb Salters picks up the first Down and Out of Bounds at the 37-yard line with 31 seconds to go as there is there are some hot tempers over there on the west sideline as they thought a couple of holds were missed especially on the tackles for the east and that's again in an All-Star game you want to really show your all if you get held You're Gonna Want the ref to see it but at the same time it is an All-Star game not a regular season game there's no state championship that these teams are playing for so if those calls are missed there's not going to be extensive review to try to overturn them it looked like the right tackle 76 in red tayshawn Holland from Belleville might have gotten away with a little bit of a hold whatever he did certainly allowed Salters to slip away new set of downs for Salters he will throw short intended for jabril Bridgeman second and ten ran a really good route there and he was you could stay a little visibly disappointed that the ball was short because he if he was able to catch that and then hook around for some additional yardage who knows what could have happened and where they could have been on the field right now jabril Bridgeman Chiron Hill both those guys from Orange High School played for the East head coach calfani Allen two guys he said were program defining type players and both have made impacts here in this ball game thus far 25 seconds to go here in the first half ball on the east 37. Salter's this time is well protected deep down the field pass it complete intended for Josh pinnick well covered by jaheem best and I don't know if our cameras caught it but the fans certainly saw it jabro Bridgeman was pretty wide open there around the 50-yard line if Salters was able to see him it would have been a first down and given them a much better chance to get into field goal range here I got a question for you Maddie in this type of situation where you've got a lot of wide receivers running long routes downfield is it tiring for them to have to walk all the way back to the Huddle and then do it again I mean at this stage it might be I would say during the regular season when they're conditioning and practicing all the time as we know high schoolers do it's a little less but at this stage in June where they've had a long time if they don't do any other sports to sit and relax and maybe get a little lazy it could definitely get tiring third down and ten Salters has to run again flag comes down pass back across the middle intended for Elijah Stewart well over his head and I think we're going to get a hold here on one of the East offensive linemen down to six seconds to go here in the first half and if it is a hold and they are asking Mark Dupree so it's obviously against the East I will ask Dupree what he wants to do if he wants to decline or accept posting this 29th annual Paul Rosie game and Salters had some options that he might be might have been able to hit it's just based on his comfortability and whether he wants to attack deep downfield and risk an interception because there are a couple of 50 50 balls that he might have been able to hit there instead tries to go for something safe but just nothing developed for him so it is a hold on the offense as expected but Mark Dupree and the West decide to accept the penalty they don't decline so it'll be third down and ten with six seconds to go timeout won't exactly do the East much good so we'll see what they decide to do here this is where these speedsters can come into play Bridgeman Chiron Hill IBN Hardin out of Newark Central who we've not heard much from but he can fly as well Salter is out to his left he will heave it for everything he's got open is Josh Pinnock and what can pinnick do they'll be tackled inside the 35-yard line down at the 30. so that's a stat patter for Salters and Pinnock but time runs out and the timeout that the East had is not able to be used so we head to the halftime locker room with the West ahead six nothing behind a connection of nine yards between Sean Clark from Randolph and Michael karitzis the wide out from Passaic County Tech halftime coming up that means lots of words from our sponsors will return for the start of the third quarter six nothing West here in the Paul Robeson Classic on Morris Sussex Sports this game is brought to you by Aaron Missouri of State Farm in Randolph my licensed and experienced team members are here to serve you for all of your Insurance and financial service needs in New Jersey and New York we offer excellent customer service and our office is conveniently located in Randolph New Jersey for free auto home life or business quote visit us at aramisarelli.com or call us at 973-389-9999 college is a big big big but I know I started right because CCM is in the top two percent of community colleges in the nation and at County College of Morris I get to choose over 100 programs whether you're just out of high school like me exploring career options like me or seeking lifelong learning like me make CCM your choice like me go big and visit ccm.edu and aspire to be you it is also coach Freshman Basketball for six years for Bloomfield High School girls program where he's found a great deal of success leading the freshman team in the spring and his assistant softball coach at Cedar Grove High School where it has been a part of this assault softball staff for seven years and they just won group one championship this past Saturday deposit congratulations my man well deserved next up another young man I've known for many many years Mr Bill Norwood has served as an educator in the East Orange school system for 37 years and was a football coach at Clinton Scott for 27 years he was the head coach of Scott for nine of those seasons in 1994 Norwood LED Scott to the playoffs from North to group four where it played well against the state power in Randolph congratulations Bill well deserved next up Stanley Tony Woods how many words are they playing at Seton Hall Prep where he played these events he then went on to a tremendous collegiate career at the University of Pittsburgh where he was a team captain in 1986. 1995 so Paul robes said an incredible man so fortunate to be doing this game here on Maura Sussex Sports and as I welcome back our crew Eddie McCarthy alongside Matt giovoni and Matt we didn't see exactly what we were expecting in that first half we re with all the talented offensive skill players we thought there'd be a little bit more offense than there actually was yeah and I think what we did start to see is well first off we saw defense is just dominating in that first quarter there's no way to go around it but at the end of the second quarter I think we did see a little bit of offensive heating up Brent Rojas and Sean Clark working good in their respective plays that the coach is calling for them and even Caleb Salters was able to hit Chiron Hill for that big reception we saw the East get a little bit of offensive momentum of course that drive was hindered but we did see some life from the offense and that's what they're hoping to recreate and bring all the way in the second half and now we've got the West up six nothing but it could easily be ten nothing they lost three points on a blocked field goal and then another point on a blocked extra point on the one touchdown that they did score and that is something that we see in All-Star games the one thing that these teams just really don't have enough time to work on is special teams and that's hurt the West here tonight yeah I hate to be negative about it but I I think you could kind of rule field goals out for the West today I'm sure they're still willing to attempt them but I think with how they're blocking on special teams has gone so far and how the East has just dominated them I think that Robert McCullough couldn't continue with the extra points but I think if you get a fourth and one with a 35 yard field goal something like that I think they'd be more willing to go for it now knowing that their special teams isn't maybe up to what they'd like it to be six nothing West here in the Paul summer slump call 908-876-1776 to learn about their programs including small group tutoring for only 45 dollars well back at the coin toss the West deferred their choice to the second half so Sean Clark and his West offense will get the ball first here as we begin the third quarter again remember no kickoffs here in the All-Star game it's a player safety Rule and the West with a six-nothing lead starting from Their Own 25-yard Line the lone points in this game provided by a connection between Sean Clark and Michael karitzis from pcti a nine-yard touchdown with under a minute and a half to play in the first half first play is a completed pass but for no gain as slipping was Makai Gray from Wayne Hills yeah that was just very cut and dry Makai gray was able to haul in the reception but just nowhere to go for him as his momentum was already taking him down and just decided to go down and relive another down we took note of Makai Gray's height in that first half and how that might be helpful for Clark in the west offense on a 50-50 ball but he really has not had a chance to go up and make a play just yet on second down hand off to Lucky Carton and he gets driven backwards by Justin Bernal from Montclair and that's what the East was really able to do well in that first quarter and even in that second quarter up until the very last two minute drill where Sean Clark was able to hit that big pass downfield is stopped the Run get in their face that defensive line for the East again we talked about it in the open with the combined forces of Quentin Reed and koami Deacon just insane and it's going to continue to show as they're able to stop the run very well tonight lucky carton out of Mendham committed to Grinnell College picked up two on that one now you've got Ryan Wong in the backfield from Morris Knowles as Clark will work out of the gun in four wide Clark has that pass batted up in the air and then Clark will go grab it himself and now a late flag comes in as the officials may have taken exception to the shot that Clark took at the end of the play and we'll see what Jeff Utz and his crew decide here is we'll take a look at what just happened I mean every once in a while you see a quarterback catch his uh deflection and get a first down I was almost expecting Sean Clark to do that there but just too good on the defensive front it was Andrew Boyle from Verona who got a hand on it and now it'll be third down and one after the penalty Clark six foot three 210 pounds off to Gettysburg after a tremendous career as a two-year starter at Randolph for head coach will Nan ball on the 34-yard line they'll need the 35 for a first down it's really third at about a yard and a half it's a long one got Caleb padawani lined up as the running back in the pistol formation give it instead to Ripley and Ripley fights to the 35-yard line and has enough for a first down and I mean that was just exactly what they wanted to do there hand it off to Ripley let him get that one yard you don't need a big flashy play every time especially when it is third and one all you need to do is convert and that's what they did there spoke to kelfani Allen briefly at halftime the head coach of the east team and what he said to us is just lots of self-inflicted wounds from his team bad penalties unnecessary penalties and we saw another one right there that took that play from what would have been about a third down in six or seven to a very manageable third down and one the good news for them is that thus far on those self-inflicted penalties when they may be extended drive for the West their defense has been able to pick up the pieces and not really allow anything but if they're not able to continue those penalties could become more and more dangerous to their chances of winning on first down handoff left side running backwards is karidia and he will get popped out of bounds by Alex Rodriguez from Verona a lot of lateral movement on that play and when it's all said and done no gains second and ten and we already talked about how impressive karidia is earlier in the game how about Alex Rodriguez though taking him step for step not giving him anything and popping him out of bounds with really no gain the East defensive coordinator Damon Harrison who's the head coach at Newark East Side did a great job with the Newark East Side program Owen 10 in 2021 turned around finished five and five this year just narrowly missed out on a playoff spot but defense has not been the problem for the East it hasn't been the problem for either team come to think of it it's just been slow slow slow for both of these offenses delayed handoff padawani nice cut and Caleb padawani out to the 45-yard line and brings up third down and one and we've seen Caleb padawani despite Jim mil Chalmers coming in as the over 1000 yard rusher who we expected to get a bulk of these rushing opportunities Caleb padawanis really come in here and been the most impressive rusher we've seen on either side being able to cut and really take advantage of his lanes and make that defense look weaker than they've been so third down and one coming up again here for the West who have taken a lot of time in between plays and now the officials readjusted the spot of the football got together decided to make it a first down so Jeff Utz and his crew gets together and they do give the West a first down on a handoff here is Elijah Carroll off the left side and Carroll is guided out of bounds after a gain of two Kimani Deacon in there to force him out I almost wanted to stay silent to see if our mic could pick it up but you could hear from all the way up here Sean Clark and his command he has over the offense just getting everybody in position for that just for that Jet Sweep to Elijah Carroll he's definitely showing his leadership out there that he displayed all season on Randolph well we got to know his head coach will nahan extremely well over at Randolph and Nan obviously we said this in the first half but had nothing but good things to say about Sean Clark but the one thing that was a constant that kept coming up week after week is Sean Clark's leadership and how tremendous that was all year and just the way he attacks every aspect of the game of football so Clark being flanked in the backfield here by Carton and paduani but before we can get going we'll have a timeout taken by the West so we will take our first break of the third quarter with them a clock killing drive here by the West just under seven and a half to play here in the third quarter West by six here in the Paul Robeson All-Star Classic on Morris Sussex Sports maximum health physical therapy is an individually owned practice with offices of Bud Lake and Long Valley strength we are called to roll wave so out of the timeout it'll be second down and eight for the West with 7 29 to go here in the third quarter Eddie McCarthy Matt giovoni here for the Paul Robeson Classic on Morris Sussex Sports Elijah Carroll in motion delayed handoff to patawani and he's going to be swallowed up that'll be a loss of one Kimani Deacon was in there one of three or four red jerseys in on that stop for the east again just as I said earlier that padawani's really been able to find some holes and take advantage of this East defense I think they're tired of seeing him do that because there were just four or five guys on him didn't even fall for the fake handoff to Elijah Carroll all of them were on padwani and he got nothing there so now third down and 12 and we said this right before the timeout but really a lot of time being taken in between plays here for Sean Clark in this West offense they really are in no particular hurry it's got Ryan Wong in the backfield for Blitz protection Clark out to his right has a man wide open downfield and Clark somehow slips out of there and now he'll throw back across his body and the pass is incomplete oh he had Makai gray wide open downfield but right as Clark was about to let the football go he got swarmed immediately by two Defenders and that's the type of play where you really have to look at it in Sean Clark's eye maybe he was able to hit his wide open Makai gray and get a huge gain but there also is a chance that it would have got tipped intercepted anything like that Sean Clark made the decision to hold on to it what he thought would be the better decision and it's just a scenario of what ifs now whether he would have been able to make that pass or not yep just as Clark was about to launch that football like you pointed out his field of vision became completely obstructed as he had two defenders in his face and he did really well just to not be sacked so now McCullough back on to punts snaps skips in and McCullough does well to handle it and put in a pretty good Boot and it takes a really good bounce so very athletic play there from Robert McCullough had to handle a bad snap and punts the ball all the way down to the 16-yard line of the East and that is where they will start their first drive of the second half broadcast tonight presented by homework helpers this summer they're ready to help you conquer any exam from SATs and acts to Gres lsats and mcats homework helpers has you covered call 908-876-1776 to learn all about their test preparation programs and set up your initial assessment and of course huge thanks to our Morris Sussex Sports crew executive producer George muha associate producer Caitlin Langan game director today Kelly Barta hand off on the first play in a game of about a yard if that for Elijah Stewart who really had nowhere to run in that first half yeah again we talked about it a little bit in the first half Elijah Stewart used to kind of barreling through the defense but in this All-Star Game the defense hasn't really given him a lane to Barrel through and he's just mostly been stopped and again at five eight it's going to be tough against some of these taller players especially if you don't have that size advantage that you might have during the high school season Wes Fisher the quarterback back in now from Scotch Plains you saw him briefly there getting the play for Mark Ingram the offensive coordinator from Newark Central no not that Mark Ingram from the New Orleans Saints second down and ten balls on the turf and it looks like the West came up with it and they did [Music] recovered it looks like by 52 in white which would be Angelo vashiano from Madison but that does not look like it's a Madison helmet so we'll see if we can take a look at this again but just a bad exchange between Pinnock and Fisher it looked like yeah it was just a tough exchange never really held on to it and then excellent job from the West defense just jumping on that talked about coming into this half the East has just had self-inflicted wounds and there's another one so that is 52 in white for the West that's supposed to be on yellow vashiano according to our roster but that's certainly not a Madison helmet so I think it's possible that's Samar Harrison from Patterson East Side who could have jumped on top of that but it's a huge turnover from the East and a costly one at that is now the West will take over at the East 12 yard line padawani on the handoff picks up two off the right side as Sean Clark gets the series off he got Brent Rojas in the game from Passaic [Music] and again you get the feeling that padawani maybe was even doing a little gloating or not I don't want to say gloating but definitely got under the nerves of this East defense because they're playing with aggression now towards them and really trying to get him down as soon as he gets the ball and remember from what we've seen tonight three points is absolutely not a guarantee regardless of how good the kicker is because the operation has not been clean for the east or rather the West I should say under four and a half to go some confusion in the backfield here is Rojas is trying to tell lucky carton where to line up Rojas out to his left has some room in front of him but Rojas is going to be converged on and tackled on a terrific play by jabril Bridgeman Bridgeman out of Orange High School off to Sacred Heart makes an outstanding play and brings up third down and seven go ahead we've seen Bridgeman enough on the offense tonight there's a defensive play from him and that's that speed that allowed him to keep up with Rojas and just not let him have anything on the outside and I don't think it's an overstatement here map to call this the biggest play of the night thus far I would say so especially if you could see that East offense getting going again in the fourth quarter we've got Mark Dupree talking there to Andrew caridia along with Rojas padawani from Lakeland in the meeting as well and it'll be rojas's snap on third down and seven they can get a first down at the two yard line ball right now is at the East Nine from there from right here it would be about a 26 or 27 yard field goal for McCullough which he would is absolutely within his range but again that's not been the problem so that it's been the operation in front of him four wide Rojas tosses right side he's picked intercepted by Isaiah home oh Convoy Far Side Homes at the 40. and a touchdown saving tackle made by Elijah Carroll as the East makes a takeaway as home from Montclair just read the eyes of Rojas Isaiah only had one interception during this fall High School season so but that was just beautifully red as you said it was just a little bit too high arcing past not enough zip on it maybe for Rojas and Holm was able to just take that almost to the house thankfully Elijah Carroll the probably speediest player on the west was able to stop the touchdown wow I wonder if we can see that again because if we take a look at it again let's see Kelly Bart are amazing producer we can see more one more time look at look at three white look at Elijah Carroll look how far he has to come my goodness that's a tremendous play I don't want to take anything away from the play made by Isaiah home but Elijah Carroll started that play at about a 20-yard disadvantage timeout as timeout is called here on the field still waiting for the officials to Signal who took the time out I think it was taken by the east but still no indication given either way and maybe we could take one more look at that last interception because this is an unbelievable play by Carol look he starts at the five yard line and just watch him cover ground wow that's the type of play that in college or even in professional football would be a sports center top 10 player that's just beautifully executed and it's on interceptions that could go for pick sixes where you see how athletic wide receivers really are Elijah Carol out of Patterson East Side committed to play division three football at East Stroudsburg and if the East does not score here remember that play that's shades of DK Metcalf and Buddha Baker from a couple of years ago Julio Jones running down a 49ers defensive player about five or six years before that I was just now another whistle and a timeout here taken by the West go ahead Matt I was just gonna make the comparison Julio Jones Who as a wide receiver is also very impressive with his defensive back skills on those interceptions and you see similarities with that type of play right there with where Elijah Carroll just no fear was able to get up there and really stop that touchdown from happening and going back to the play itself you put it really well just read the eyes Isaiah Holm did of the quarterback Rojas yeah in that type of situation Rojas he saw his receiver but he wanted to maybe zip the ball more than he did that was the type of if I could put it in Madden terms that's when you want to throw a bullet pass but he accidentally threw a lob and that the defender is going to be able to pick that off every time if he sees it with enough time to spare so now 245 to go here in the third quarter six nothing West but we'll see if this play from the East the Isaiah home interception can galvanize this East offense ball on the 36-yard line of the West Caleb Salters in a quarterback pressure off the edge Salter is going for it all hell makes the catch inside the five he's marked out at the two to number two and all of a sudden here comes the east's offense Chiron Hill has had his fair share of opportunities today and that time sees it in all the way and just a beautiful reception to really set this this East offense up to score a 34-yard connection between Caleb Salters and Kyron Hill in the East are set up with great position on the two yard line poised to strike and you could see the lessons he's learned there as he instead of trying to run that all the way which would have made it maybe a little underthrown he was able to backpedal a little bit and slow his momentum enough where he could catch it but still not give the defender a chance on the ball Kyron Hill who led his team at Orange High School this year in receiving with nine touchdowns and 630 yards now the East is on the doorstep Samir Jackson in it running back Salters wants to throw for it pulls it down and down he goes oh a huge sack Eves Jean from Clifton got in there Aiden white and that's a huge play by the West defense and that really is a big sack we've seen again special teams isn't exactly guaranteed tonight so to be able to push them out of maybe easy touchdown range that's exactly what the West wanted to do there Eve as Gene from Clifton comes in and makes a terrific play a sack and a loss of eight and that completely changes the dynamic of this what was once a first and goal from the 2 Series Salters End Zone shot pass is juggled and ruled incomplete as he was targeting Chiron Hill I think Chiron eventually came down with the football but he never got a foot in bounds and so now it's third down and goal from the ten and that was a great defensive effort there from Joaquin Izzo from Madison we saw this all year from the Madison Defender he was able to put perfect contact there and just make the receiver make an unbelievable catch and at the high school level you're not going to see many receivers with contact make that catch Joaquin is a very level-headed play Izzo will draw the match up again with Kyron Hill lines up to the near side right Salters takes off and doesn't go anywhere Samar Harrison from Patterson East Side got in there and held that to just a gain of two and now if you're the East what do you do and they're going to send on Gage Hammond and try for three now I will say Gage Hammond was practicing from around the 50 yard Mark for field goals he missed I think he made one he missed a couple but he definitely has range this obviously much closer and we're gonna see if this East special teams is struggling as much as the West has thus far tonight this is not a range issue this is an operation issue Gage Hammond to kick the men working in front of him Tim McKeever from Summit going to Hobart he'll snap it jabril Bridgeman will be the holder 25-yard try from the right hash good snap good hold and Hammond is just able to hook it inside that left upright and so he puts the east on the board so after the interception at one goal line by Isaiah Holm from the East it's the West who makes a big goal line stand at the other end to hold the East to three 6-3 with just under a minute to go here in the third quarter the Paul Robeson All-Star Classic on call us at 973-389-9999 Sean Clark back in at quarterback for the West his team had a great opportunity to cash in but his other number Brent Rojas would throw an interception inside the east 10-yard line is getting the call on first down is Jamil Chalmers and picks up a couple and again we've seen very different looks between Brent Rojas and Sean Clark Sean Clark has been the running up the middle and then looked downfield for the big pass while Brent Rojas is more of the let's get some trickery going let's get some Wildcat plays going so it's going to be interesting to see if they keep that up in the fourth quarter and if Sean Clark can get them some some pads going into the final minutes of this game 12 minutes to go this game fourth quarter bound the West with a 6-3 lead over the east in the Paul Robeson All-Star Classic on Morris Sussex Sports this game is brought to you by Aaron Missouri of State Farm in Randolph my licensed and experienced team members are here to serve you 12 minutes to go a 6-3 lead for the West Eddie McCarthy Matt giovoni High School football on Morris Sussex Sports handoff to Jonah Ripley out of High Point and Ripley gets across the to the 31-yard line a gain of four and that brings up a third down and short here for the West team just a gain of four but a big gain of for it that Jonah Ripley was able to just get a ton of yards after contact there the pile was able to move forward and that's exactly what you want to see from your big running back going up the middle this is another big down here for the West because the way we've seen them manage the clock here in this second half Matt if they can pick up this first down that'll allow them to run at least two more minutes off the timer oh absolutely it seems like they've been trying to run down the clock from the time they scored that touchdown they've seen what the defenses are doing in this game and they're content content letting that clock slowly wind down single coverage for Makai gray near side they will run it to the left and getting stuffed is Jamil Chalmers and other than the Hayes one big run we saw in the first half Jamil Chalmers has been kept under control by this East defense something that we said they needed to do in the opening and definitely they've stepped up and been able to do it Hakeem Ripley was in there on that stop for the East 56 in red as with 10 and a half minutes to go it'll be the West who will punt the football back in back deep for the East are two of their speedsters and Kyron Hill and Samir Jackson Robert McCullough on to do the punting East is lined up for what should be pretty good field position McCullough hits a good one deciding to return it is Bridgeman or rather that's Hill Chiron Hill to the near side and run out of bounds by Ryan Wong from Morris Knowles and the East will start at the 44-yard line on what has been a beautiful night for football here at Belleville Municipal stadium in Belleville this game's supposed to be played in East Orange at Paul Robeson Stadium but the game moved late due to field concerns in East Orange and we do have a flag down on the field now jabril Bridgeman being led away from the scrum at the end of the play by one of the coaches from the East and we'll take a look here Jeff Utz they're gonna call personal foul against the West so clearly whatever was said or if there was a late hit I'm not sure it didn't look like Wong who ran the returner uh Hill out of bounds it didn't look like that was a late hit at all but they'll call personal foul here on the West I didn't exactly I can't say for sure but I do believe I saw somebody in red fall down so there might have been some pushing after the play so the East will take over at the West's 45-yard line here at Belleville Municipal Stadium which also serves as the home of the New Jersey Titans of the United States Women's Football League just a beautiful facility here in Belleville Mark the ball at the 41-yard line Caleb Salters back in the game here they'll go four wide on first down and Stewart gets the call and Carries to the 37-yard line a pickup of four and after what he did on their last drive I can imagine we're going to see Caleb Salters go to the air maybe a few more times we've seen him get a little rattled throughout this game but we've also seen him make some very sharp looking passes and I think they're going to want to attack that through the air so now Stewart comes out to me or Jackson checks in at running back Salters keeps left side Caleb saltzer is across the 30. well read on the read option by the ex-hill side quarterback gets down to the 28-yard line where he's forced where he was forced out of bounds and that moves the chains and that's just again a very good play from him an option like that you want Caleb stelt there's a quarterback that we know can throw but also can run he did both throughout the high school football season and he's done both tonight very good play from him Salters when we talk to kalfani Allen the head coach here for the East he said he's just been a pleasure to coach and a guy who's a natural-born leader has a chance to lead his team down the field here as you'll get some motion here on the right side that'll be on the right tackle for the East tayshawn Holland from Bellevue Belleville excuse me number 76. and he knew it as soon as he did it everybody on the field didn't you could see it's just that that look of did I really just jump over the line there so now first and 15. from the 33 handoff to Jackson right side Jackson looking for that edge has it and takes it inside the 20 into the Red Zone down to the 18 good for 15. and a first down and Samir Jackson a 1000 yard rusher on 104 attempts with 10 touchdowns this season a very good athlete himself I haven't seen a lot of him today but that run shows what he can do and why he is here at this game have him listed at DB but running back is where he put the stats up there in the High School season so they gave him about 14 and a half it'll be first down and half a yard Salter's pressure throws towards the end zone Hill out of bounds Kyron Hill he and Joaquin Izzo have been going at it all night long and Izzo did just enough to force Hill out there that absolutely was out of bounds that episode was absolutely the best catch we've seen all night he went over Joaquin izzo's head to catch that just a really great play from Chiron Hill again just a little bit far out of bounds subtract a yard and a half maybe from that would have been the game defining play that the East really wanted to see there and that really is the perfect time to take that shot right second down in less than a yard why not absolutely I mean they've got separate running backs Elijah Stewart we saw Tamir Jackson on this drive they are confident they could get this one here Salters will keep it take it himself and runs right into Solomon Pitts and he is right at the chains and we'll see if he has enough for a first down and they're gonna give it to him Solomon pits there you could kind of see on the on his motion after the tackle I think he was trying to strip that ball away it looked like he had a hand under trying to get rid of it so great job from Caleb Salters to be able to hold on there yes Sullivan Pitts is a big guy Caleb Salter is not small either at six foot 175 and there's some muscle to Caleb as well but Solomon Pitt's a big dude as well First and Ten from the 18. here's Jackson left side inside the 15. two flags come down as Jackson is bound at his banged out of bounds by Eric Jackson from from pcti but this looks like holding against the East offense and it is and this could be the a little bit of strategy perhaps from the East why we didn't see Tamir Jackson a lot in the first half he's got fresh legs now the rest of those defenses tired feeling that attrition again the last time they played organized games for a lot of them was probably last fall so now in June here maybe not as as athletically capable as they were there have not conditioned to where they want to be for the start of the college season for many of them so to have Tamir Jackson on those fresh legs we're going to see some damage I think yeah definitely not as crisp that's the second penalty on first down this series for the east so first and 20. Salters Hill has it inside the five [Applause] he took it over Joaquin Izzo and sets up first down and goal and we keep going back to that matchup joaquinas has gotten some Chiron Hills gotten some but he got that one and I want to check the replay but that might have been a one-handed catch that it was reached out with the left hand brought it back towards his body secured it survived contact and sets up first down and goal from the five I think that's the craziest part of Chiron Hill's night is the fact that his catches just keep getting more and more impressive so what do we still have in store if the East get another Drive handoff Jackson he'll be wrapped up inside the one by Solomon Pitts you down to about the one yard line now if any if the last Drive is any indicator we know that this is no gimme the West defense could get another clutch sack but the East is also going to try to learn from what happened last time Salters will take it himself touchdown Caleb Salters [Music] and with 6 19 to go the East has grabbed their first lead of the night and I think we've got the Caleb Salters fan club right in front of the booth as I saw a section jump up when he was able to score there foreign so Caleb Salters drives his team down the field remember this drive set up with great field position which was the result of a special team's personal foul penalty after a punt return taken by the West and now we've got a flag coming out from the back of the end zone as the East was very confused there on special teams and they're going to get called for an illegal substitution or no that's going to be on the west so that was interesting because we had there were two guys on the East who were running off at the last minute that's what we were focused on but it turns out the West was having the same problem with their special teams and that's who the officials will call it on so it doesn't really do anything it's still the same distance as an extra point but special teams has been anything but automatic here tonight and now you've got whistles as it looked like some movement up front I think they're going to get the West for jumping here but both lines are pointing at each other as per usual if it was a West jump my guess is the East declines there and just takes the extra point as it did go through the uprights ordinarily I would say yes but I think the whistle was blown before the ball left the kicker's foot so they're going to have to attempt it again again Tim McKeever from Summit snaps jabril Bridgeman holds and Gage Hammond from Montclair who's off to Wesleyan is the kicker this is to make it a four-point game and we will halt everything again and we have offsides once again on the west and kalfani Allen is out to the 20-yard line let's see if we can get a shot of the head coach of the East here but calfani Allen out to the 20-yard line declining the penalty and wondering why the try is not good and why the officials keep blowing the play dead so quickly Matt's absolutely right ordinarily if there's an offsides and the extra point is still good then the team could absolutely decline the offsides but the play has been blown dead prior to the kick on the last two snaps so Hammond on try number three drives it through no problem so it's a 10-6 lead for the East with 6 19 to play here in the fourth quarter Sean Clark's turn to try and respond here in the Paul Robeson All-Star Classic on Morris Sussex Sports early of State Farm in Randolph my licensed and experienced team members are here to serve you for all to respond they have not scored since late in the first half Clark connected with Michael karitzis from pcti Harry's looking for caritzis and it's broken up Kyron Hill got a hand in there and that's really the first time the whole night we've seen Sean Clark attack the middle of the field again something that he's more used to in his Randolph system where he just dominated basically everywhere in the field but it'll be interested to see it'll be interesting to see if now that the West is down they continue to let Sean Clark to go back to what he's more normally used to well we talked about how this game is a great opportunity for undecided players and Chiron Hill one of those guys offers on the table from Wagner and Liu at the division one level but he is undecided at the moment Clark pump fakes once pressure gets it away and way overshot his intended target Elijah Carroll it was almost intercepted and it'll be third down and ten and there's where that pressure got to him we saw in the same thing in their lost to Northern Highlands in that playoff game Sean Clark the one thing he still needs a little work on and again going into the college game he's going to have plenty of time to do that is throwing Under Pressure we saw him earlier in the game make a great decision to hold on to a ball when he was under pressure that time tried to force it out and could have been an interception now if you get to the 33 or 34 yard line do you go for it at this point in the game with only six minutes left and how the East offense has been going I can't see why not rushing for Clark evading Clark back foot throw pass caught at Midfield hauled in by padawani or I should say Chalmers and Sean Clark makes that play happen with his legs good for 23 and a first down and that is how you get it done if you see your quarterback Under Pressure you come back and help him it's exactly what Chalmers did there and basically saves the drive for the West End what could have been uh very bad sack which would have basically forced the West upon just by the way who have very similar builds they wear five and six and both of them wear red helmets so sometimes it can be difficult to tell the two of them apart but jamill Chalmers makes a great play breaking off his route and coming back for the football on first down a handoff to padawani out to the 46 yard line a gain of five and that's what the West want to do they want to attack through the air like they just did on that last play even though they basically had to on third down but now they want to set some things up with the Run perhaps load this secondary into a false sense of security and that's when Sean Clark can really hurt you so now we're down to under five minutes to go we've got Ripley in the backfield to Clark's right Clark dumps it off to Ripley first down and more forced out near the 35 called the 33. I mean talk about beautiful execution there that's a tough play even on a full Summer's practice for high schoolers to develop and be able to accurately run and they just did it perfectly there Sean Clark to Jonah Ripley was able to fake the defense out with the handoff then fake them out pretending like he was going to take off Jonah Ripley was basically wide open to get that first down Jonah Ripley from High Point he's been there for his quarterback when Clark's needed it the most and whistles before the snap here as a timeout is taken by the east and we'll take one with them 417 to play East by four this game is brought to you by Aaron Missouri of State Farm in Randolph my licensed and experienced team members are here to serve you for all of your Insurance and financial service sponsors of the 2023 Paul Robeson All-Star classic four 17 to go the East with a 10-6 lead both teams with just one timeout remaining First and Ten for Clark in the West for the east 32. hand off Ripley just won and we talked about it a little bit during the break we're getting into the point now where the clocks become a very big factor if the West scores here it's going to be a two maybe less than two minute drill for this East offense we've seen them have big chunk plays Caleb Salters has come alive in the second half it's going to be interesting to see where this clock is at and what the time is at and remember the West has left a lot of points on the board tonight Four Points one off of a blocked field goal the other awful it blocked p-a-t so if either of those had been converted a field goal would help the West here in some shape or form but right now the only thing that can help them is a touchdown field goal does no good up by four second down and nine Ripley picks up eight and it'll bring up third down and one as the clock will bleed under three minutes by the time the West snaps the ball next and that's a big run from Ripley there I was almost about to question the West's mentality right now letting the time still bleed off with how their special teams has been a field goal doesn't even help them in this moment and now a whistle and it looks like we've got some motion up front no it's against it's gonna be against the East they're going to call illegal substitution and we talked about it briefly towards the beginning of the third quarter but certain self-inflicted wounds have really been Brack Breakers here tonight for the East that's another one yeah absolutely it's gonna be one of the two things is going to either win or lose this game for the East it's going to be either the defense giving up these penalties and not being able to get stops here or their offense just not being able to convert in the two minute drill here's Ripley takes it inside the 15 down to around the 14-yard line good for about four his helmet came off so he's gonna have to come out that's a mandatory rule and now Ripley is talking to Jeff Utz the head official and saying that hey man somebody ripped my helmet off he's not happy that he has to come out of the game and with how Ripley's done on this drive I wouldn't be happy either I'm sure nobody on the west is Happy nobody backing the West is happy because he's really been that Catalyst to just slowly bleed away these yards we came into the night talking about Jamil Chalmers he's been pretty quiet Ripley and this guy Padawan he's been the other one padawani inside the five bounces off a tackle and sets up first down and goal from the four or rather I should say that is Jamil Chalmers that's good [Music] and now here's the big question ever so every so often this comes up do we see the East let them walk it in do they trust their offense to come back out there and be able to get the ball down the field and score again Ripley left side down to the one you've got to flag down the West had a free play one of the East players did not get off the field in time and I think they're going to get the East here for 12 players on the field or maybe not they may have picked up the flag so now down to 110 to go and both these teams have only one time out so this game is going to be won or lost down here at the goal line Ripley in the backfield Ripley no he shut down inside the one third down and goal coming and a timeout is called by one of the teams I'm not sure which and now all of a sudden the East is saying that the ball popped out at the end of the play and they're gonna give the East the ball [Music] they're gonna say that the ball popped out of Jonah Ripley's hands and was recovered by the East you've got Mark Dupree the head coach for the West who ran all the way down to the goal line to talk to the officials Jeff Utz is checking with his crew and we'll take a look at that play when we can let's see do we see the ball come out at all right oh that came out it looks as though it came out ball came out right at the end let's see if we can roll it back one more time foreign but now depending on the spot this might not be an easy kneel down see who gets back on top of it it came out before his knee hit the ground might have been Josh medal 25-26 red rather the linebacker from Newark west side and the officials do not have our broadcast to look back on so it's going to be a pretty on the spot call down there so we didn't see it certainly a lot of the West players didn't realize it and it took most of the East players on the field a while to realize as well that ball had popped out but to Matt's point they don't have the capability to slow things down and see if the ball was out before his knee touched the ground and what do we have here Jeff utzar official is not miked here and I think they're going to give the ball back to the West and it's going to be third down and goal oh any East players that watch back our broadcast are not going to be happy about that one as it does look like we have a pretty sufficient angle to say that was fumbled 45 seconds to go and now the East is gonna have to try and figure out a way to come up with a goal line stand from the one-yard line after they thought they had just recovered the fumble that would have basically given them a victory here we go game is not over the clock and running we've got Brent Rojas in a quarterback Rojas handoff is he in no he is pushed back at the one-yard line huge defensive stand for the East they gave the ball to Solomon Pitts timeout 25 seconds to go they took him off his feet before he was in the end zone that was just incredible defense there they table topped him almost over his own teammate Solomon pits the linebacker got the carry but he could not get in the East has really just impressed on this drive it's got to be a momentum killer especially after they saw they thought they had the fumble obviously they did as the West fans thought that it wasn't a fumble we up here can almost certainly confirm that it was a fumble again we don't have a perfect angle but it looks pretty sufficient from up here but the East is now going to have a chance to win this one with an incredible stop here on fourth and one and it's just going to be interesting to see what the West goes with on offense they've tried to Ram it in the past three times it has not worked what do they do here Solomon pits in the game Ryan Wong in the game Jonah Ripley in the game [Music] you want to know [Applause] [Music] and Rojas is going to be the quarterback Rojas sneaks it is he in he is no signal yet he's in touchdown West 12 seconds on the clock and the West has taken the lead celebration out there on the field that was another case of did it fumbo did it not fumble as we check back I believe there was an East player holding the ball at the end of the play which explains the delay yeah Solomon pits the linebacker in there again he was the guy who was pushing Rojas in from behind all three of the running backs Wong Ripley Solomon who was in the backfield though he's not a running back they all pushed him in and now with 12 seconds to go the east is going to have one time out after this Pat try from McCullough which has been anything but automatic here tonight for the West this time the snap is good hold is perfect and McCullough drives it through to make it 13-10 [Music] so 12 seconds to go remember there's no kickoff so you're at the 25-yard line we brought it up a little bit earlier Gage Hammond is their kicker he was trying them from about 50 yards in the warm-up that's about the 40-yard line or rather the 35 yard line that you'd have to get to but you really only have time for two plays yeah you do have one time out though you've got to think that they just send your bro Bridgeman and Kyron Hill as fast as they can run and hope that they're able to beat out a member of the secondary it ain't always interesting how these All-Star games play out because the game starts and it's always a little bit of a weird vibe with the two teams as they feel each other out because they haven't played football for a while but then the game starts to get going and it starts to get tight and all of a sudden these competitive juices start flowing from all these men who will be competing at the Collegiate level stick around oh absolutely and 11.6 seconds left it's absolutely not game over yet there's definitely opportunity for the East to score here we've seen crazier things dude now for now for whatever reason the the Union East has decided to switch sides of the field I'm not sure why they were allowed to do that the East was allowed to switch sides of the field there's conversation going on between the officials and the timekeeper upstairs as to exactly how much time should be on the clock thank you so they'll put 17 seconds on the clock so that changes the game a little bit that might be enough time for three plays absolutely if you can attack the sideline here you don't even have to hope for a Hail Mary or a lateral [Music] Salter is the quarterback fires left side cut by Kyron Hill Out of Bounds at the 31-yard line 11 seconds left on the clock they may put some more time back on it looked like about two or three seconds elapsed once he was already out of bounds 10.5 seconds left I mean that's just a smart play there now you can attack the middle of the field get into field goal range again we saw Gage Hammond practicing from Deep and they still have a timeout left so you can really attack anywhere on this fly Salters can throw it but you gotta figure you gotta get to the 45 for him to have a chance to hurt one at the end zone pass cut by Hill near side out of bounds with six seconds to go that game just a game of that one just a gain of five definitely interesting strategy there they're gonna be pressed for time if they are able to get this into field goal range for with just six seconds left ball on the 42-yard line six seconds remaining you can throw over the middle of the field they do have a timeout but they have to tell whoever catches the ball he has to get down in a hurry Salters stepping up fires left side Hale had to get out of bounds and he didn't this game is over [Music] and the West will win 13-10 here tonight in Bellville of the 23rd Chiron Hill caught that ball with about a second left on the clock right in front of the sideline let's see if we can roll it back now remember he has no idea he's not looking at the scoreboard he has no idea how much time is left so he thought he had to make a play football and he just ran right into the arms of seven waiting white jerseys yeah he was definitely looking for a lateral there he it's almost impossible especially with how the play started with Caleb Saunders kind of moving about in the backfield he probably assumed that the clock was out had to do something that there was nobody available the lateral too and unfortunately for Chiron Hill he could not do it all by himself there so the East scores or out of the West scores a touchdown on Fourth and goal from the one-yard line thank you for your time they push Brent Rojas the quarterback who was not supposed to play in this game they push him into the end zone that gives them a 13-10 lead and they hang on on defense to win the game and what a great game of football This was oh absolutely we got to see a little bit of both worlds a lot of Defense in the first half some really good defense and then in the second half even though it was still relatively low scoring game we saw a good sample of offense some really good throws from all of our quarterbacks some still good defensive plays from the secondary on that interception just a ton of good play from everybody around and it really goes to show why this is the All-Star Game and why these were the All-Star selectees and well that's going to do it for us for our entire crew who did a tremendous job here tonight executive producer George muha associate producer Caitlin Langan Kelly Barta our game director Patrick Falco our stats man Michael Torrens our Graphics artists camera people Julia goston Craig Scott and for my partner Matt giovoni this is Eddie McCarthy saying so long from Belleville at the 2023 Paul Robeson All-Star classic the West wins it 13-10 [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] thank you [Music] [Music]
