today's photo is of head coach Jess Neely on the left talking to his players during a game back in 1938 Neely served as football head coach at Southwestern University which is now rhs College Clemson and rice and is inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame Neely also coached baseball at Alabama and Clemson our trivia question of the day Neely was instrumental in a major change to Clemson what was it the answer it was Jess Neely who had Clemson move away from the old official colors of pale purple and gold to what we have now the reason was he wanted uniforms that were more color fast so he worked with the school of textiles at Clemson to develop uniforms that could hold their color better from the constant washing and the exposure to sunlight their recommendation was to use deeper colors such as northw Western purple and Bert Orange [Music] [Music] [Music]
