tonight it's week one of the college football season on the Crause Sports Network in the 2024 season it's a new era for the SI orangs the Fran Brown era the Kyle mcord era that we finally got transfers era as they take on one of the top teams in the Mac the Ohio Bobcats here in a mid-afternoon showdown at 3:30 here in the JMA Wireless Dome with new seats new team and a new coach it's a new exciting season for Syracuse football as they get ready to take on the Bobcats coming up next we are here 3:30 in the JMA Wireless dwn with the new era of college football for the siis orange as they have the new as they have a new quarterback and a new head coach and Fran Brown and Kyle McCord but they do not have an easy game yes they are playing a school from the Mac but they are one of the best teams in the map with a new transfer running back Anthony tus II as it's the team from the ACC the syes orange taking out a squad from the Mac the Ohio Bobcats here in the JMA Wireless Dome and the orange with first game with a new coach and a new quarterback as Kyle mcor transferring in from Ohio State here as we are getting ready to go in the JMA Wireless to Syracuse will kick it off Ohio will get the ball to start tonight's game and a good defense by the orange stopping him at the 15 yd line and that is where the Ohio quarterback Parker Navaro will take the field a lot of fans in the JM Wireless stome much more than they usually get lavaro tus in the back field he is dangerous that's not tus never mind that's a different man but he's dangerous as well he takes it to the 40 he's all the way to Midfield before getting brought down at the 45 yard line that's Ricky hunt jury going for 38 yards on the first play of the season the Bobcats and only 15 seconds in they're already past Midfield that is a freshman running back going for 38 yards against an ACC school on his first run on the road good tackling there could have easily gone much more than that as Navar will line up with hunt in the back field got at 45 yd line they'll hand this one off this time he's going to go nowhere number five Elijah Clark bring him down on the play there that one goes for one yard they're at the 43 yd line Navaro still has hun in the back field this time nvar will throw looking across the middle that is going to be caught by number seven that's another Ohio first down now down to the 31 yd line did they even have that running back in game no they have a different guy out there this is another solid run he is going to get tackled after a gain of six by Clark again very fast moving offense from Ohio so far one minute end of this quarter already the 25 yd line good tackling there by number 12 and it's going bring up a third down and two fans are starting to get a lot louder you can see the little pulse meter going up to handoff and a first down for the Bobcats barely getting across the marker he got one more yard than he needed and now Ohio was knocking on the door of the Red Zone on their opening drive it's another hand off and this time it's going to get stuffed by Justin Baron in the back field it's a lot really easy to see their numbers it was hard on in 14 another guy to watch on the bottom of your screen fidil Diggs in Pursuit there number 10 the transfer from Texas A&M holds them to a gain of one they're at the 20 yard line it's third down and nine and a good chance for the ORS to hold him to a field goal here Naro to throw has a lot of time throwing across the middle de chest now almost picked it off they do hold him to a field goal Chestnut played at Syracuse for a year transferred to LSU for a year now back to Syracuse and the field goal is going to be good so Syracuse able to hold him to three and now it'll be Kyle McCord coming from Ohio State's turn probably the biggest addition for the Syracuse team whenever we get a quarterback from Ohio State Syracuse fans are going to be happy Ohio State fans may not have like them because he lost to Michigan but CJ stra did the exact same thing so who knows but kyle cord is in town in Ohio State or from Ohio State as Ohio is getting ready to kick this ball away this one also returnable and he'll take it to the 21 yd line and that is where Kyle McCord will take the field your impact players on offense for the orange it's a rodne gadon and defense it's Marlo wax mcord is on the field Gaton lined up a tight end at the left edge of the offensive line it's a hand off to laquin Allen another very good running back he gets brought down in the back field though for a loss of two hurry up offense from mcord changes the Play Hands it to Allen again and the Run game for Syracuse not off to a good start third down and 10 m going be forced to throw it here Accord to throw has not much time and it's going to be D dropped by Lin Allen so two bad runs and then a dropped pass and now Syracuse goes three and out against a team we told you before the game is not bad Ohio chance to go up 10 nothing with a touchdown here good punt good tackling brings him down at about the 38 yd line so Navaro back on the field hands it off to number 28 brought down in the backfield loss of one on the play Ricky hunt Jr five carries already Midway through the first quarter he's getting his workload in here from Ohio hands it off to hunt again sheds a tackle and he'll get brought down by number 12 at the end of the play third down and fourth a big stop here for Syracuse then they need to figure something out on offense Navaro has a lot of time wide open uncovered past Midfield all the way down to the 44 yd line and first and 10 now again for the bobcast just over halfway through the first quarter here in the JMA Wireless Dome here's the handoff good tackling there it holding to a gain of three justtin Baron on the stop that's his third tackle of the game already I don't even know if they're really good running back is he wi this game he is he's just not playing right now oh and a good move there another big move Ricky H is not playing like a freshman out there it's another third down sra's already given up a couple of those on this drive third and very short is a hand off to hunt and he's going to get stuffed Justin Baron gets him again and now a long field goal attempt this one from 52 yards does Ohio's kicker has the leg he does oh it's no good though had the distance not the accuracy so it'll stay three nothing Syracuse with an opportunity now with good field position I wonder if he is but they probably don't think he's a starter because he's a transfer from Northwestern so like probably had the most recent starters from he's a low overall he just had one good game mord back on the field for the orange need to get some off going a quent he'll gain about three the rushing attack for Syracuse does not look good you got to transfer quarterback from Ohio State out there let him sling it around for a couple plays see what he can do there we go mord to throw has time across the middle that's caught by Tabor Peña for a gain of three and now it's third down and four for Syracuse Syracuse known for their fast tempo that's going not going to change with Fran Brown and Kyle mcord they're going to go right back to the line on third and fourth they're going to hand it off for some reason Quin Allen gets one yard short of the marker and Si is not going upright and Ohio state has just missed from inside of 30 yards and now Syracuse really has a chance this game should be 10 to three but Syracuse has a misfield goal Ohio has two and it's still 10 nothing so bad special teams on both sides of the ball Now Syracuse three timeouts 53 seconds and the ball after halftime can easily get this within a touchdown Syracuse has enough time to go down the field and score if they they are going to throw here mcord across the middle has L Quint Allen first down a little more can't get out of bounds but they do get the first down and now Syracuse uses a timeout they have one left I guess they're going to look deep mord to throw looking downfield has a run gadon Gets Out of Bounds at Midfield for a first down they are now rushing 44 seconds left that's a very well-known number in Syracuse mcord has number four that's Ross Simmons I believe lot of one-on-one matchups here for the orange this is favorable for a guy with the arm tail of Kyle McCord looking across the middle that's going to be complete it's a it's yumari Hatcher into the endzone touchdown Syracuse they get the ball after halftime and now a chance to score after halftime and take the lead what a drive by Syracuse D store a big play there to umari Hatcher it's his first touchdown of the year and Kyle mcor's first touchdown in a blue and orange outfit what's that in this game it is yeah last year it and this game he is so deberg for the extra point and this time they make the kick 10 to S four plays 80 yards and just 27 seconds let's see if that convinces Syracuse's offensive coordinator to throw the ball more in the second half cuz once they started passing the ball they went right down the field scores an easy touchdown and now Ohio does have three timeouts and knowing Syracuse gets the ball after halftime let's see what they do here Navaro is going to throw it and he's under pressure fuse and the game has just changed from 10 to 1410 and two plays crazy momentum switch and those are Syracuse's two leaders on defense Marlo wax with the fumble fidil digs picks it up touchdown Syracuse and the momentum swing for the Orange is in full effect what a play by Marlo wax just going straight down the middle just untouched and he forces the ball Loose as pil digs so now it goes from 10 nothing Syracuse was down 10-0 with 307 seconds left on the game clock there's 19 seconds left on the game clock and now they're up by four what a play well if the offense isn't work in the defense might have to score for you now we'll see if Ohio is willing to try it again after what happened on the last drive there is only one guy in the back field receiver is pretty spread out they are going to hand it off this time and that time number nine gets him they Trail by half in the time of possession column a fumble recovery here is the touchdown pass for Kyle mcord to Yari Hatcher splits the middle of all the safeties gets into the end zone untouched for a touchdown here was the big third down conversion to Trevor warino 1410 start of the third quarter and a nice return there to about the 22 yd line so now mcord back on the field to see if the unless they're looking just to go for a field goal definitely four down territory though if they get close barari is in motion mcord to throw McCord has to go for the endzone looking for valari over and that's rooky H his 20th rushing attempt of the game I like how the games are about the same scoring but they go by faster on this the college football 14 games used to take forever Navaro looking to throw this is going to be caught and that'll be third down in inches probably a handoff here but Ohio does need to start airing it out a little bit if they want to get back in this game would not picked off by Justin Baron he is going to return this to the 15 to the 20 he could go to the 30 down to the 40 and finally brought down at the 44 yd line and that one might do it as Baron waves to the crowd 2410 and now good field position from aord with a good chance one good drive away from closing this one out well started with a little odd Movement by the quarterback it was 10 nothing at one point and now 24 unanswered and two turnovers later for the Ohio Bobcats spun around didn't even see if anyone was open just Chuck the ball launched the ball down field if we had a little bit of elevation on that ball it was not the worst decision but instead here we are and McCord still airing it out mcord way down field caught by C at the 10 yd line and Syracuse is not done and they just gonna keep moving the ball and that throw put Kyle McCord up to 286 yards he's now officially on 300 yard watch even if they get 10 here he won't get the 300 and they'll probably start running the ball after this drive anyways now an empty Back Field from mord looking caught by pain Hill but he ends up dropping it good hit by the defense there to jar that one loose and Syracuse they have some scary weapons on offense this year they have that running back they have Kyle mordon like four or five receivers that are more than capable of having big games third and goal from the five more than likely to be a pass mord looking looking for the end zone that one now that one's picked off this one's also going to be returned this one's an even bigger return he's all the way to Midfield and he's going to get brought down by Yari Hatcher so now trading turnovers go the orange and the bobcast two interceptions on the goal line that one still doesn't hurt mord statline that much though two two passing touchdowns 285 yards and just the one interception but now Ohio with the touchdowns back in it and their tank gets a SE there another senior with an interception that one was going to Pia nowhere near the target he wanted and now Navaro is definitely going to come out throwing on this drive able to get the first down but not out of bounds four minutes and 5 Seconds to play a touchdown keeps Ohio in the game here now they're actually going to hand it off and that's going to go nowhere Derek McDonald and Fidel Diggs team up to bring him down digs with a monster game a force fumble a tackle for loss all he needs now to finish that off is a sack and an interception Navaro looking way downfield great defense not a to pick it off but it is now third and 14 Navaro going to throw has pressure coming hit as he throws what a catch in traffic down to the 19 yd line that's the best grab of the game so far in this one if Ohio scores here Syracuse is not going to start running the ball they are going to try to build a little bit of a cushion this it's going to be a onore game if Ohio can get a touchdown here Navaro gets sacked spikes it into the ground that's not an incomplete pass that should be intentional grounding but there is no flag actually they did Mark it as a sack it's second and 18 now hit as he throws somehow stays on his feet gain a four third and 14 Fidel Diggs with the tackle they've already gotten one third and 14 on this drive see if they can get another one here viral to throw looking way down field and that's picked off intercepted is that Baron again no it's number five it's Cino Clark Elijah Sino Clark and now two straight interceptions for Parker Navaro after having not that bad of a start now Syracuse can breathe a little bit now they can run like he might be considering throwing the ball here that one goes to Allen a good drive starter gets five yards second and medium coming up for the orange the orange are going to run the ball almost every play except for third downs I'm guessing now taking as much time as they can they have 25 seconds on that play clock still again while we're waiting for mord to snap this ball next week George attch comes to town much tougher opponent than Ohio definitely some things to touch up on for Syracuse if they want to get off to a 2 and0 start before Stanford comes to the Dome on a Friday night in and now Victory formation for the Syracuse Orange all right and the clock will go down and Syracuse will win 2410 a big second and third quarter after a sluggish start going down 10 nothing leads Kyle George attack and the defense can figure out how to get off to a better start they could be a dangerous team this is a much different team than we saw with Garrett Trader under Center as the orange could be a very good team what are your thoughts on the game um I think overall um we need to fix some things up from the first quarter but otherwise I think we had we pretty good so that'll do it for us let's take a look at some stats of the game by the teams both teams with 18 first downs Syracuse out gaining 393 to 321 Ohio out gains the orange 111 to 107 on rushing yards but Syracuse did it on interceptions pretty solid game 18 of 23 210 yards now for the rushing Ricky hunt leads the way for Ohio with 21 carries for 85 yards and then for the orange laquin Allen on 5.4 yards per carry 115 rushing yards now for the receiving end for the orange Trevor paa leads the way in receptions with five for 97 in a touchdown but Lin Allen hit 106 receiving yards and Yari Hatcher had that big touchdown gu on the defensive side Justin Baron with 12 tackles a tackle for lost and an interception but the big Difference Maker Kevin Joby with two sacks three tack for loss Fidel Diggs not
