welcome to Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego California home to the Aztecs of San Diego State being in San Diego is never a bad thing and it's even better when you have a matchup like this one maybe you need a little caffeine or maybe the sheer energy of this matchup will keep you wide awake as we know anything can happen when you kick off after dark as we'll see a squad from the Pack 12 the Oregon State Beavers taking on a team from the m West the San Diego State Aztecs for EA Sports college football I'm Rees Davis David poan Jesse Palmer with me guys it's time to get it going the Aztec will kick it away first from inside his own 10 let's see what he gets he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 the Beavers offense will start this game off and here comes this quarterback when he takes the field he brings a certain Swagger and Charisma out there that the entire not only the entire team the entire Stadium seems to feed off of you can feel it it's different it's special uh guys like this don't come around very often but he makes the whole team better but the belief is strong because he continues to make plays and be their first team every time they meet didn't get much done on that first play of the drive it's second and 11 out of the gun the inside hand off to the running back running hard and getting six yds out to the 26 2 third down third down and they'll need five to keep this opening drive moving [Applause] it's a draw and he's knocked down but not before moving the chains and I think on that last run play on third down here early in the game they're making a statement that we believe we're the more physical team and we're going to run the football even if you know it's coming at you nice job they got the ball at Midfield I expect to see more run plays coming up and the Beavers will snap it on First and 10 On The Run it's Griffin and how about the efficiency on that one it'll bring up second and four second com [Applause] up stuck with a running game on first down now here they come again the run to the right a strong tackle and wrap up from the [Music] junior now staring at a third and short from the 40 to the ground to try to pick up the first just nowhere to go against this defense def find that single yard he needed on third down well it's decision time now for the head coach you probably like the play call third down you're running the ball thinking you're going to get it in your own end you don't now what do you do the Beavers will line up to punt it away fair catch called for and made around the 20 yd line the Aztec offense has the ball for the first time first down here for the [Music] offense from the gun they'll try to impose their running game keeps him moving for a three yd gain to the 24 and the Aztec want to crank the [Applause] [Applause] tempo from the gun they'll try to impose their will gets the nose of the ball to the 25 give him one third com [Music] probably the toughest call on the play sheet third and long Ball's at the 25 dropping back it's Duffy he's got it down the middle balls out and the defense snatches it and they're trying to flip the field man that's a big mistake and listen I'm still going to force feed my Playmakers if I'm that quarterback I'm that OC I'm walking over to that guy be like listen it's okay it's a little bit of a mistake we're still going to find ways to get you the Rock you're too important to this team not to give you the [Applause] football Oregon state has it back and here comes the beaver offense after punting the last time they had it they ought to be set up for a much better result with this drive and the defense picks up a sack getting the quarterback down at the 44 man a lot of coaches talk about starting the drive positive and a first play that can get you going the QB just kept backing up and going back backwards and that is not the start to the drive they were looking for that offense having to deal with the last thing you want on first down giving up a sack as they come up to the line on second down pre snap Motion in the back field looking to throw on second down got his man at the 20 he's got space touchdown Oregon State reeled it in and just made the house call such a nice job by the wide receiver there on the corner route he did a nice job off of the stem not telegraphing where he was going the defender had no idea and when he broke to the corner he created a little bit of Separation there was an accurate throw he made the catch and then took it into the end zone [Music] on to attempt the try for the extra point and the P makes it 7 nothing aggressive play calling on that drive just two plays they get the long touchdown pass has to pay it offg the kickoff team out there getting set the on the move from inside is five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 guys we're about to get another look at this San Diego State offense he leaves it with his back crosses the 30 he got away they wrestle him to the ground but he's got ready for a first down and here we go if you're an offense you've got to get that ground gain going so you can have some balance and then you give it to your quarterback Palmer and let him make some plays down the field later on yeah exactly and know coming into this game this offense knew they were going to have to someway somehow at least establish a semblance of a running game for exactly what you just said you got to be able to use play action pass later in this game to get some explosive plays down the field and it's a play like that that we just saw which can help them get that they make the stop trying to pick up just a little bit at a time to get to that first down marker really good offenses are able to attack short you've got to be able to attack the whole field to make you honor that underneath part then the intermediate part and then you take shots down the field this will loosen up some shots for later in the game the Aztec want to move quickly give to the back they get him on the ground but not before he gets enough for the first down this offense has to get this guy the ball in as many ways as possible he showed you all of his tools on that last play and the Aztecs have it with a first and [Applause] 10 good timing on the quick out obliterates him still on the move that is exactly what you're looking for when you talk explosive plays the defense finally able to make the stop one of the first things I want to do when I come into a game is I'm going to go where do I have the advantage where are my guys better than yours and maybe they feel good about their matchup out wide some of those wide receivers making some of these big plays down the field this is a good sign for this offense [Applause] he'll keep it himself and a pick up of eight opens a world of opportunities on second and two well I'll tell you what just watching this QB in the Run game he's going to break one at some point in this game he's going to break a home run defense did a nice job getting him down there but this guy I'm telling you he's just a play away from taking it to the house keep letting this guy do his thing on the move it's Cooper he'll be stopped just short of the end zone but they'll have it first and goal you know they Pride themselves on being physical at the point of attack dominating at the line of scrimmage nice job there picking up the first [Applause] down the Aztec trying to get a touchdown on first and [Applause] goal wide receiver coming across in motion on the move and he Sprints to the end zone touchdown San Diego State and that's what makes this quarterback so dangerous fellas he can hurt you throwing the ball man is he ever dangerous and explosive with this feet you have got to be able to get this guy on the ground if you don't he has got way too much wiggle and speed you saw it right there [Music] [Applause] lining up to add another is on for the extra [Applause] point right down the boulevard so it's an 80 yd drive and they finish it off with a short Plunge Into The End Zone after that latest answerer tied things up just about set to kick it way again on the run from inside zone five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 Oregon State takes over ready to send the offense onto the field get some work done there pick up of four to the 22 at 22 brings up second down [Applause] after the productive first down play it's second and six keeps it on the boot leg looking to throw got his man quickly and they'll finally catch up to him but not before a big chunk of yardage is picked up man we're seeing the tight end Ed more and more in the passing game you you see him moving inside you see him moving outside you see him moving in the Box to so here they put him in the slot just have a nice little pitch and catch session the Beavers come to the line in the hurry up quarterback touch pass on the Jet Sweep One Step W twep squeeze this junior knows how to get him on the [Music] ground com [Applause] and now on second down for this [Applause] offense quickly complete fights off a Defender and a good job of coverage by that defense just a short pick up well short passing game is a great any offensive coordinator in the first quarter because it's reliable but it also allows you to see how the defense is going to react and play so this can certainly open things up later how bold will they be on third down after that last run to the air it's go Branson gets rid of it receiver looks it in it's complete that'll get the job done and move the chains and they'll Mark the ball at the 45 and the Beavers are moving quickly down the field they go to the draw they finally get him on the ground with the big running play moves to change for the first down that's the end of how about these two running games so far dominance on the ground as we look at the first quarter stats [Music] they fought to a stand still in the first let's see who gets the edge early in the second the Beavers come to the line with a new set of downs they're going to ride this running back and a nyd gain on first down leaves him with second and short yeah this coaching staff they're getting this offensive line lathered up and into a rhythm now they're letting them drive off the ball on first down on these running plays and they're getting chunks of yardage after the nyd pickup on first down here's second and one he's looking to throw fires into trap bag picked off he'll try to take it back the 40 the 20 the 10 touchdown azx what a great play by the defense and paying it off with the interception return just one moment and all of a sudden the Fortune's turn you're in a position where you're about to give up points and now you can look that around and you put points on the board perfectly executed what do you do in an interception first guy blocks the intended receiver everybody else starts to form a wall where the ball's going nice blocking nice interception nice return for the [Applause] touchdown they'll try to add another to their lead the extra [Applause] point and the extra point is true and they're on top by [Music] S they'll kick it off and defense right back out there to try to score again after the pick six from inside the 10 yd line he'll bring it back he was looking for more Running Room but none to be found as he stopped at the 23 Oregon state has it back and here comes the fever offense going down field for the big play and the DB right with him to knock it away DB does an outstanding job here on the Deep pass locating the football no Pi able to swat it away pass incomplete and last incompletion leaves him with second and 10 from the 23 from the shotgun now here's an inside G and they drag him down but not before he picks up the first down and that is just an attitude run running it right up the middle right into the teeth of that defense lining up from the 34 on first down they'll ride the hot hand and they'll spot it at the 45 that's good enough for a first down beautiful play call offensively at the perfect time in that situation the defense obviously expecting pass so they sneak the draw in and gash the defense on first down here comes this offense it's a draw and a good solid pick up there before the defense knocks him down draws are such a smart way to take advantage of fast defensive linemen that want to get up field and get after the quarterback it keeps them honest makes them realize they got to play the run to Great play call they can really be aggressive after that last play it's second and three motion from the offense been showing them the run now they'll throw it such great awareness along the sideline in the ability to get that foot down for the catch a third and long coming up here looking downfield it's go Branson unloads it left can't make the connection on third down thanks to that tough hard noos pass defense and now it's fourth down that's one thing this defense takes a lot of Pride on they like tackling the catch and they like being around the ball that time he was in proximity to knock that thing loose nice physical play the Beavers will call on their punt team this will be the second time they've had to kick it away no opportunity to run it back as the ball goes out of bounds the Aztec offense ready to go back to work what a good mix of plays keeping that defense off balance last time David and Reese they don't know if it's run or if it's pass they got him right where they wanted this defense doesn't know how to react from getting punched in the mouth on that last drive so in this next Drive David I think you keep running the football because that sets up the play action it sets up the RPO game and then you keep this defense guessing and the Aztecs racing to the line in the hurry [Applause] up off the play fake on first down to throw oh what a grab by the defense no real chance on the return but they've got it at the 34 a really nice job by the linebacker there understanding his responsibilities in that coverage that's a cover two looks there's two two safeties playing deep but the linebacker knows there's nobody Underneath Him keeping him close to the line of scrimmage so he can kind of float back a little bit watch the QB's eyes jump the throw and make the P Oregon State takes over ready to send the offense onto the field RPO complete to open the drive he makes the stop almost as soon as he catches it and they're short of the first down you know the defense doesn't have an answer for this slot guy right now they may want to think about bracketing him having a Defender play to the outside and to the inside probably some sort of Zone coverage where you're trying to get two bodies forcing the quarterback to have to go somewhere else with the ball makes the catch it's Anderson he's brought down quickly minimal gain there still a minut short of the first down third down [Applause] [Music] they've got it at the 41 third and short trying to keep the change moving looking downfield it's go Branson unloads to the Wi out nice defensive play to get a hand in there and knock it away great job by the defense there they weren't surprised by that play call there on Third and short they were expecting pass they took everything away and forced the incompletion and the Beavers will bring the punt team onto the [Applause] field he'll call for the fair catch here San Diego State takes over as the offense is ready to go to work one of the most valuable things a quarterback can have David shortterm memory just forget that last pick you dang right clear the mechanism it's over move it behind you some players can't do that real well it leads to more mistakes Jesse you got to just forget about it and move on and I think the coaching staff can help him too David I think you can get the running game going here and also give him some easy throws after getting knocked back to open this drive it's second and 12 he's looking to throw he's open on the right got a lot of Running Room the 20 he's at the 10 and he eluded the defense and he'll take it all the way touchd San Diego State if I'm a play caller nowadays man I want more guys like this just versatility you can see he can catch it out of the back field like a wide receiver or he can run it nice job catching the football with his hands using his speed to do the rest and get into the end zone lining up to tack one more onto that [Applause] lead and the extra point puts them on top 21 to7 this offense Prides itself on going after you and they did with that long touchdown pass to finish off a two-play drive the kickoff team takes the field to boot this one away he'll bring it back from inside his SP didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 Oregon state has it back and here comes the beaver offense hand off from the shotgun find some space enough to get five to the 22 the counter play is a great play to mix in with your base Concepts obviously everybody flies to the football flies to the football bang now you pull a guy you go backside give him a little counter keep the defense off bounds halfway there on first down it's second and five they try to pop a run on the draw he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple and they sniff that draw out draw you you really have to sell that pass like you're going to throw the ball down the field but the defensive line the defense was not biting and you could tell they were ready for it came got on the running back got him on the ground quick fast and hit hurt third down conversions are a huge stat and this one would be a doozy if they can pull it off unloads to the right how about getting the foot down on that throw for the big completion I tell you what that's great execution between the QB and receiver they looked like they could execute that throw in their sleep quarterback took his steps threw it on time great route by the receiver nice job securing the catch the Beavers want to pick up the [Applause] tempo they're trying to slow that Rush down with the draw tried to fight his way through that tackle but he's brought down on the how about the defender being a heat seeking missile he was on radar lock he found the football and flew down with some bad intentions got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 back to throw it's go Branson got it set up on the outside they finally get him stopped but what a good job by that front wall to set up the screen and create some Lan for their running back that was just a perfectly choreographed screen the line got out on on time the running back had a wall in front of it and I think the quarterback did a really good job of selling pass then kind of dodging the pass rush getting it to the running back and then let him do the rest you got him in space he'll pick up yards in a hurry a strong tackle and wrap up from the Junior at the 43 yd line brings up second down after picking up a couple at second and eight from the gun running back on the move just couldn't get away from the tackle stoping the run is about physicality it's about I'm bigger than you I'm stronger than you up front really nice job by the defense showing their strength bowing up stuffing the run now facing a third and long [Applause] [Music] [Applause] gives it to the back on the draw really nice job to convert that third down and they've got it at the 33 we've made our way to the two-minute warning and now they'll try to at least cut a little something off of this lead before the break the Beavers will have it first and [Applause] 10 he's looking to throw it fire to the wide out got his Man Down field and he was loose and in the open field and on his way a tremendous pick up on that one well you're seeing the balance this offense has and how they can create explosive plays in a variety of ways we just saw one come in the Run game and now you see one coming in the passing game I'll tell you they've got this defense on their heels he's got it on the run that completion will take get close to the 5 yd line they'll mark it at the six com operating in the Red Zone here on second down to throw it's go Branson lets it go to the end zone and it's caught touchdown fever and I tell you what that passing down man that should spark this whole team like The Comeback is more than on now like they got the touchdown they cut into the lead you want to get a stop and go into the half get all the juices all the excitement and be like listen the passing game's rolling we got this The Comebacks in full effect [Music] [Applause] P unit on the field exra and it's up and good as they draw Just a Touch closer so an 82 yd drive there and they get it into the end zone with a 6yd touchdown pass the kickoff team on the field as they'll send this one away Ki one let's see what he can do with the return and the return man has no place to run no place to hide and a place to be tackled guys let's see what adjustment is San Diego State offense has made this time on target to the left good job running that route to get past the sticks because he got nothing after the catch the offense waste no time getting the timeout call now on first down from the 28 [Applause] he wants to throw unloads to the wide out got him downfield and he almost ran away from everybody on that one a huge pick up on that play right second quarter getting closer to the half offense is still having a lot of success stringing some first downs together defense is going to need to figure something out before they get to halftime see if they can turn this drive into points they've got it first and 10 at the 50 and he ers intercepts it didn't let him get loose on the return but he'll take it as they have the ball at the 47 and this is obviously not a great start for this quarterback here two interceptions already in this game he's got to do a much better job with his decision making Oregon State takes over ready to send the offense onto the field David they'd love to do what they did last time and put this one in the end zone you ain't ly they did a great job the offense was clicking everything went well Palmer they executed and got the touchdown and they really were in a nice Rhythm as well and I'd love to see that here on the next drive too just keep doing what you're doing everything seems to be working and you seem to have this defense on their geals looking to throw it's go Branson fires into the end zone and he's got it touchdown Oregon State touch Oregon State yeah and the passing game comes through man and we need more of that in the second half an extra point away from tying this football game you trailed a little bit in the first half stayed calm if this passing game can continue to heat up look out in the second [Music] half lining up for the pat for the extra point and it's perfect aggressive play calling on that drive just two plays they get the long touchdown pass to pay it [Music] all and we're all square as he's set to kick it away he'll start the return inside his spot he was hoping for something a little more dynamic that they get him on the ground at the 20 first down for this offense keeping it on the ground with the running back nowhere to run on that one he loses four on the carry brings up second down that's going to wrap up the first half here and now we join Kevin with a halftime update thanks guys looks like a terrific atmosphere there today in San Diego the passing game for both sides has been outstanding on point unrelenting they've excelled in the short game the intermediate game and especially on the default all in all a thrilling display of offensive Firepower and these defenses have a lot to discuss here at halftime and just like that let's send it back to the fellas inside Snap Dragon stadium [Music] [Music] and the Beavers will booted away to start the second half out of the end zone and the returner goes down guys we're about to get another look at this Diego State offense first drive of the second half always fun to watch you see what type of tweaks were made at the half especially when you're locked up in a ball game like this one yeah and it's been a good game I mean it's been a little bit of back and forth and a feeling out process and now once you get in the second half who's going to get aggressive Palmer who's going to take some shots try to make some plays and really go for it yeah it's interesting I think as play callers right now you learn a lot about these coaching staffs with respect to who does make the best adjustments there's a lot of coaches that believe we're just going to be who we are we're going to keep doing what we do we're just going to do it better but then there are others that tweak things a little bit on offense and on defense we're going to find out here and the Freshman does a great job using his technique and getting the man on the ground you know this offensive line they just got to hold their blocks a little bit longer this offense likes to run their quarterback on designed plays if you can just give them a little crease he can take it the distance but they couldn't get it done there from the gun the G looking for room at the 35 he's open and it is a chunk play a huge gain on that one before the defense brings it to an end and it's just got to be nice to have a running back that can make big time plays with his feet first down second down third down right here his opportunity gets the football makes a huge gain he makes this offense go and it makes it so easy to be a play call [Applause] wants to throw on first down off the play fake looking to the big tight end wide open downfield oh what a big play for this offense as they get it to the 33 yd line last couple of plays the offense seems to be just one step ahead David yeah and I'm going to have to do something to disrupt the timing the Rhythm I got to do something that they're not expecting cuz right now they got the run and they got the pass working so this defense they have to find something new to kind of confuse this [Applause] offense from the gun he leaves it with the back and he'll pick up the first down after a tough run there [Applause] the Aztecs moving quickly to the line off the play fake on first down quarterback moving he'll pull it down he's going to be able to pick up a few yards before the slide yeah I think you're just seeing the experience this guy has right he's so boys and initially he's flushed out of the pocket nothing's open and he doesn't panic he's not not throwing it away he's not sliding early he just knows where the defense isn't and he's able to attack that space with his speed get a positive [Applause] play grabbed behind the line it's Shaw tackled after picking up the first down [Applause] and the Aztecs come to the line with a fresh set of downs going to run it it's Cooper gets it inside the 10 picks up a yard they'll mark it at the nine going to work in the Red Zone they can pick up the first down without getting it into into the end [Applause] zone they'll keep it on the ground forges ahead for one to the 8 yd line down at the 8 yd line third down coming up boy they'd love to move the sticks here and take a shot at it on first and goal [Applause] on Third and long try to convert through the air and that's incomplete a Defender all over him knock the ball to the ground fourth down coming up yeah and third and short they choose not to run throw the football and I think a lot of that has to do with they know they're in field goal range they can take the three points on the board they're happy enough to try to take the points as the field goal unit heads out and as a holder picks his spot it'll be a 25 yd attempt never number eight down right down the middle and guys have the now they have the [Music] lead so they're ring up to kick it off after that last Drive put a three spot on the board and now the defense will try to shut him down and he takes this from inside the five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 Oregon state has it back and here comes the beaver offense on the ground it's Griffin and maybe they want to try somewhere else because there is nothing doing in the middle of this defense this is a defense that we know takes tons of Pride stopping the Run that's where it all starts and ends with them and you saw a great effort on that last play they got nothing on the last play it's second and [Applause] 10 now they'll run the draw and he's all close to that first down marker there saying he's a little bit short they might want to bring out the sticks and measure but it looks as if he'll be just short of the first down this is where you make the money on the drive ball at the 30 third and [Applause] short got it looking for a first nice job to get it past the sticks and they get him down at the 35 they get the conversion there he used his size and nice moves to get past the chains and I like that third and short find the big fella the soft hands make a quick little move make the completion get the first down this offense is feeling itself right now and momentum's coming along with them looking for a physical attack from the gun still on his feet at the 45 they'll get it to the 48 no need to measure it to first down and David how demoralizing does it have to be for a defense when you know they're going to run it everyone in the stadium knows they're going to run it and still you cannot stop it there's nothing more demoralizing as a defensive lineman because it just it ticks you off it gets in your head you you know that guy's going to come off and smack you and you got to do something about it I think the defense maybe time to start committing more guys to stopping that run not worrying about the pass as much second down coming up picked up two yards on that last one they need eight on second down dropping back it's go Branson got the Quick Pass he's out of bounds but not before picking up enough for the first down well they pick up the first against Zone coverage I think a big part of this for young quarterbacks out there is if you're going to be throwing into Zone coverage you got to throw on time you can't stare down receivers because the entire defense has their eyes on you so you can't Telegraph where the ball's going you've got to hold it to the very last possible second try to freeze Defenders with your eyes and then throw the ball into open areas of the field anticipating where your gu's going to be I want to make sure I know where The Playmakers are and I can't let guys like this guys slip out of the back field and make big plays against him a good job being aware that they can throw the ball to the running back closing space and getting that fast dude on the ground they've got a really good drive going but a little speed bump here at second and 13 fires to the middle right through his hands you just have to make that catch and it'll be third down ooh there's there's an example I see him receiver making his quarterback look bad most of the time make it look good and cover up for him all those balls yall don't throw online but that hit him pretty good spot he needs to that on Third and long a check down would be the last resort it's caught ripping through the defense and getting it all the way down to the 24 yd line the Beavers will snap it on First and 10 they're testing the right side here blast his way ahead but not much room a pick up of one to the 24 [Applause] didn't get much on first down it's second and nine to the air it's go Branson firing to the end zone touchdown beaver and that one will give him the lead a methodical Drive Soul crushing Spirit breaking and it ends in a touchdown and listen I know everybody wants the big plays the big long touchdowns and all that stuff but putting a drive together like that is very difficult to do time and time again and it's demoralizing for the defense great drive by the offense they'll try to add another to their lead point and the extra point is good and it's a fourpoint lead they put together an 81 yd drive and they finish things up with a dart from 24 yards out almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown set to advance on the football here he comes from inside his own five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 the Aztec offense ready to go back to work trying to find his man on first down and it's incomplete if you're going to take a hit like that you might as well hang on to the ball and sometimes the coverage is just great and as a quarterback you throw the football away or don't try to force it too tight into a window and you just say hey defense won that rep good coverage now on second down after the [Applause] incompletion he's looking to throw firing to the right complete and he was just a couple of steps away away from taking that one even further after the catch that big pick up on what they call the drag route but if you hit it on time you can hit the turbo boosters and you've got to be accurate on the throw too Reese nice job by the QB there putting it out in front of his receiver to make an easy catch and then Advance [Applause] it hand off from the gun and they'll move the chain and get it to the 47 yd line first down you know you always want to establish the running game how about this offense nothing fancy run the football be physical get a big [Applause] game the Aztec will hustle to the [Applause] line off the play fake on first down wants to throw can't find his man as he took a shot trying to deliver that football and it'll be second down he didn't have a whole lot of time to get rid of that one the defense was all over him right after the snap no wonder that thing fell in the incompletion brings us to Second and [Applause] 10 here's the handoff they'll give him a couple that leaves it with third and eight [Music] we've been treated to an aerial show by these two guys so far as you check out their numbers one quarter to go and might we have the makings of a classic fourth quarter finish on third down he'll try to pick it up through the air and it's picked off again his night vision hasn't been on F and they'll drag him down after a good return on the interception and that's just excellent coverage man cover one nowhere to throw the football look at everybody playing man across the board and you still got the safety in the middle of the field nobody open and if I'm the QB man I don't need to force it I I Don't Force It In The Tight Windows if it's not there he throws it unfortunately gets the interception bad decision by the QB there Oregon State takes over ready to send the offense onto the field and now that cushion is a little bit smaller Jesse and any mistake would get magnified yeah a little bit of pressure now on this offense too David I think they got to go back to their Playmakers and get these guys going in the game no doubt find those plays those plays you know you can run them in your sleep you make sure you execute build this lead a little bit bigger put this thing away in the fourth quarter little bit more to go after that last completion they'll try to pick it up on second down looking for a man it's go Branson quick completion on the out route he will step out of bounds but not before the big pick up and a first down for this offense they say tight ends are a quarterback's best friend in the past game because think about it the tight end's the guy lined up closest to the quarterback which means generally those are the easiest throws a quarterback has you saw it on that play the give to the back tough sleding there as he picks up one to the 29 didn't get much on first down it's second and nine he's looking to throw quickly out to the tight end they're able to get him stopped just shy of the first down marker well you hear all the time that the tight ends the QB's best friend you saw a perfect example of it on that last plate right second down you need to pick up some positive yards to keep this third down manageable really nice job of executing already in Chip Shot field goal range at the 21 but this third and short they're still thinking touchdown he'll try to get it through the air quickly complete they make the stop but the sweet throwing catches plenty to give him a first down well this defense has given up some big plays in this game so far but they've got a lot of Talent on that side of the football someone has to step up here make a play get a stop and put their team in a position to win the Beavers are marching down the field quarterback on the keeper not a whole lot of room there three yards maybe second and seven and you could tell Q wants to run he's going to be a big part of the game plan and the defense really really understands that I got to understand and more importantly when I get a lick on this cat I got to take it like not dirty not cheap shots but any the plays when I can be physical and really make him feel me I think that'll always bode well in the fourth quarter game I know a lot of people are going to look at that play and man that was a bad play didn't get any yards but that could be the offense maybe setting something up play call is going to remember that last play he's going to remember how the defense reacted to it made a quick tackle they might pump that throw and then hit another player vertically down the field for an explosive play down the line just keep that in mind trying to move the sticks on third down through the air can't make the grabage he was going for six right there after that incompletion on Third and short it's going to be an interesting decision for the head coach because I know he believes in his guys to go get it here on fourth down and Pad the lead but if you kick a field goal you make it a two- possession game here in the second half and I think that's the right decision so on fourth down here comes the field goal kicker in a huge spot oh he missed it no good guys after the Miss still up by four that's one the kicker would like to have back that's a kick he should be making [Music] San Diego State takes over as the offense is ready to go to work after throwing the pick on the last drive need to take care of the ball this time Jesse we're going to find out a lot about this quarterback right here too how does he fight through adversity after that last Drive yeah clear the mechanism move on that's a part of it you're going to be a great player got to fake now to throw and that one's in well no surprise there on defense right you know the QB is going to be trying to Target this guy nice job in coverage forcing that inom [Music] second down after coverage most people are taught to have inside leverage so that out routs there if your QB can put some air on it and throw it outside of the guy but tight coverage but a really nice throw in that out R from the gun running back gets to G really nice stop there from this senior leader [Applause] up didn't get much on first down it's second and nine [Applause] going to run it it's Cooper there's a live football defense coming up with a huge fumble recovery and he's brought down and this defense gets the ball back for its own I love those smashes where you can hear it up here Reese goodness gracious you can hear the contact such a big lick the offensive guy doesn't hold on to the football huge momentum swing big turnover forced by the defense [Applause] Oregon state has it back and here comes the beaver offense to the ground with the back he'll give him a couple on that one second and eight coming up well they've got the lead the defense just did their part getting a takeaway so now if you're on offense you want to run the ball and take as much time as possible between snaps stay in bounds and let this clock tick away after picking up a couple it's second and eight trying to make that Rush think on the draw play here he get it down to the 35 before he stopped 10 yd pick up on the play and it's a first down and this guy really has been a Workhorse today he's made plays when his offense has needed them the most he's a guy who's reliable they know they can turn around give him the football and he'll go make things work out they're going to need him to finish this game he has to continue playing well after that big run there finds the tight end and he'll run across the sidelines after the good game and that's why QBs love their tight ends so much right especially when they're athletic cuz they make short throws turn into long Gams because of his ability after the catch it's so unique and special he is dominant in this offense they ran it on first down now on second they keep it on the ground clock is their friend and the Beavers are stopped but not before getting it past the sticks well the defense didn't Blitz they didn't have everybody in gaps and the offensive line took advantage at the point of attack getting some push opening up a hole and the offense ripping off a nice run there the Beavers are moving quickly down the field he'll do it himself you'll take this every time five yards on the first down play and this option attack can low you to sleep sometimes I mean just so many things they can do off of it and you just got to play responsibility responsibility and you got to get them on the ground and make tackles and that was a good job limiting the damage on that play with a nice tackle time is on their side and they're going to wind that play clock all the way down they'll give it to the back he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple well this guy's been eating him alive all game long finally though dve you wonder if the defense has been able to make some adjustments find something positive to help slow this guy down hey baby steps right and that's a tackle for a loss I know he's got over a hundo on the game but this defense is definitely going to have to be more aggressive commit more guys to stopping that bad man we reach the two-minute warning and this offense trying to milk this clock and keep time on their side this is a big third down if they can move the chains they can just about salt this game away they'll try to pop the draw and the defense knew exactly where that first down line was and they stopped him short defense uses a timeout quickly trying to get that ball back and preserve time for their offense so here we are on fourth down and this field goal kicker is going to face all the pressure in the world between the uprights it's good well that's a huge kick right there because now the opponent has to score a touchdown here in the fourth quarter that put so much pressure on the opponent now nice job by the Special Teams going out and executing in a big moment [Music] after putting up a three spot the kickoff unit set to go set to kick on the move from inside is five and the returner will be knocked down guys let's see what adjustments this San Diego State offense has made this time they coughed it up on that last drive but the defense really bailed them out holding him to a field goal Jess yeah and I I think the offense kind of got away from their identity a little bit on that last Drive David they got to kind of get back to doing what they do yeah and hold on to the football I mean defense just did their job stopped them held him to a field goal limited the damage now it's time for the offense to get the momentum going again they gave themselves room to operate with that first play now first down from the 37 throws to the wide outs it in really nice job there by both guys to throw and the catch to work that defense and get the first down when these wide receivers work the middle of the field so much of this is field understanding where the holes are in the zone or understanding how to get leverage on a man and these wide receivers are dangerous nowadays because they do it so fast and see that so quick and make those plays over the middle comes out throwing on first down snagged on the outside it's brown and he'll step out of bounds after a very productive play he would love to have picked up the first down there but saving the timeouts saving the clock much more important right now yeah that could save the game because now I can work the middle of the field still now I can still take those shots deep when I get without timeouts and those start to dwindle I get very predictable so great job getting out of bounds and this sophomore is going to learn you can't force that type of pass very lucky to get it back late in the game with the lead the defense obviously knows here the offense is going to to have to try and throw it nice job in the back end there not just in coverage but almost picking that football off that was a game changer couldn't find his man last time now they'll have to convert third and fourth he'll just keep slinging it the quick out that'll be enough for the first down as they mark it down at the 31 yd line the offense gets a quick timeout at this point every second is precious they'll throw it on first down he makes a catch defense makes a stop but the chains mve and it's first and goal from the e well offensively they knew they were going to have some matchups they could take advantage of in this one and all of a sudden this quarterback has now over 300 yds passing in the game defensively David he has got them on their heels and he's been showing you a little bit of everything he can throw it all over the field to all different receivers to his tight ends touchdown has tackles and they take it in for six more points and great execution that is how it's done late in the football game now all you need is that extra point bring the kicker out there this is what you do just like practice knock it through the uprights tie this football game and we might be looking at overtime soon [Music] [Applause] this is supposed to be the easiest play in football except when there's this much pressure and that extra point was good and we are deadlock here in the fourth an 84 yd drive there and what a huge score and extra point there to get it tied in the final minute we've got a Dandy going here all tied up in the fourth quarter in the about to kick it away looks as if the returner will try and field this one really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 Oregon State takes over ready to send the offense onto the field looking for a deep man and it falls incomplete but it could have been much much worse as the defender was right there well the defense finally showing some life there it's been tough sting too cuz this offense has been lighting them up through the air but a nice individual effort that time forcing the incompletion after the incompletion it's second [Applause] down looking to pass it's go Branson just too much mustard on that one can't miss the Target that badly this really hasn't been a Master Class by the quarterback decision making right we've already seen him throw multiple touchdown passes in the game he's understood when to take his shots and when to throw throw it away when things aren't there like I'm now on Third and 10 if they can move the chain here maybe they can get this drive started on the run it's Griffin they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one great job by that Defender I mean he timed that snap count perfectly got into the back field and created the negative play the Beavers send out the punt unit [Music] he gets a block excellent coverage that time didn't give him any room to set up a big return well guys let's play some more headed to overtime this just feels right both of these teams going back and forth so of course David this thing needs to get decided in no two let's see who's better short amount of time to do it a couple possessions probably maybe one first because you want to know what you need that's a key philosophical approach for most teams when it comes to overtime David yeah and remember the rule change a couple years ago too and in the second overtime and two-point conversion so all this stuff is situational type football that you better have worked on throughout these weeks of the season they go to the ground blast his way ahead in to stop that one for a short game brought down at the 11 yd line BR up second down going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground to cover to pick up that first down the give to the running back from the shotgun gets it inside the 10 picks up a yard they'll mark it at the nine down at the n y upd tight quarters deep in the Red Zone but they can pick up a first down without scoring third down wants to throw it's Duffy face the grab he stopped just short of the goal line but they'll have it first and goal from the one here comes first and goal as they tried a strike here in [Applause] overtime looking to throw feeling some heat and that defense gets to him and down he goes at the nine y on the it's now second angle [Applause] defense roll up deep in its own end on that last play now a second and long coming the run up the middle trying to steamroll his way in pushes ahead for two to the seven Y Line tackle is made at the yd line brings up third and goal field is condensed not a lot of room to work with here on Third and goal in [Applause] overtime they're going to throw it on Third and goal they get an up rush and it pays off the sack of the 20 on the play it's now fourth and [Applause] [Applause] goal they'll try to put three on the board and take the lead in overtime [Applause] he got it and now they take the [Music] lead down by three it's their turn here in overtime a touchdown will win it here's first down they'll try the Run they stop him right on the edge of the Red Zone a pick up of five to the 20 second down [Applause] halfway there on first down it's second and five using his legs it's Griffin knocked down but not before he crossed into the Red Zone and picked up four yds down to the 17 [Applause] third down here in overtime and some work to do wants to throw on third down he's got it on the Move he's there to make the stop but not before he sets up this offense first and goal from the seven [Applause] a touchdown insta game here in overtime it's first and goal back to pass it's go Branson he got it in and the celebration is on a walkoff touchdown in OT have a day young fell I foresee some social media posts in his future not
