hey thanks for the comment you claim the Republican party has gotten more left over time but if we look back a lot of the policies that conservative politicians have supported in the past would actually seem pretty liberal today let me give you a few examples first up Richard Nixon he actually established the Environmental Protection Agency and signed laws like the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act these days conservatives are pushing for Less environmental regulation but Nixon's actions were all about protecting the environment which is something that we often associate with liberals today and how about Dwight de Eisenhower during his presidency the top marginal tax rate was whopping 91% that's much higher than it is today and while Eisenhower was a republican this kind of progressive taxation would definitely raise some eyebrows amongst conservatives now even Ronald Reagan who's generally a conservative icon supported some policies that might surprise people today for instance r Reagan back to the Brady Bill for gun control and as Governor California he signed a law that restricted open carry he also signed an Immigration Reform Bill that provided amnesty to about 3 million undocumented immigrants think about that Reagan's stance on immigration back then would definitely be considered radically liberal today then there's George HW Bush who signed the family medic Family and Medical Leave Act this law guaranteed employees unpaid leave for serious health or family reasons these kind of worker protections are called socialism by modern conservatives one more quick example Nixon again he proposed a health care plan that would have expanded Private health insurance coverage and even required employers to provide Insurance to their workers now that level of government involvement in health care that's not usually what you hear from conservatives today so yeah while the Republican party's policies have shifted over time looking back shows that Republican party policies have continually shifted to the right not the left try again Bubba scooter
