About 35 minutes ago. The commanders have whittled down their roster from 90 players to 53. Bringing us one step closer to the regular season as the official television station of the commanders, we got all the info for you following the roster cuts and look who is back in the studio today. He's got air conditioning. See you. He feels good. Yeah, look at you looking good. Yeah, you all were out there kind of sweating it out. He's way prettier when he sweats though. I just get flustered. You know what? Let me tell you about today. We have heard that there are a lot of broken hearts today. We have heard, I'm married. What can I tell you? Ok. No, we're not talking about you didn't get cut. I didn't get cut, stop laughing. We're not laughing at you. I just, we keep hearing all about Sam Hartman. Azalia is our, our floor director. She's laughing. She's not laughing at you. She was laughing. She's laughing with us. She's actually doubled over right now. You guys can't see her. Uh Yes, I mean, look Sam Hartman. Sure, sure, whatever. Um He didn't want to be that guy. He didn't wanna be that guy. Uh look, it's an up and down day for a lot of players across the league. Some realizing their dreams, some dreams dash for a lifetime rosters being slashed, as you said, from 90 to 53. Keep in mind many of the players that were cut today could end up as part of the 1716, 17 men practice squad. Ok. Some notable players who were cut today by the commanders wide out Martavis Bryant. I say notable because he caught a touchdown. The last game he's brought in last week by head coach Dan Quinn Quinn just told us on the phone, look, he did great but the numbers game got him hadn't played in the league for six years but was the the biggest receiver uh in the room. He caught a touchdown as I said, wide out Ca Allen cut. They really tried to get a look at him in the return game and in the backfield as well, but he did not show enough running back. Chris Rodriguez had a fumble in the preseason that never helps another wide out. Bryson Tremaine, not pictured by the way, Mitchell Tinsley also sliced from the roster. Uh but you can bet at least one of those two guys will be back in the practice squad mode. Uh, tight end Cole Turner, a bit of a surprise and that means the rookie tight end from UCL A Colson Yanko has made the squad and the big defensive end KJ Henry has been released. He was very active. He's 1/5 round pick by the team last year. So as you can imagine, this is a time for several players who didn't want to get that call from the person they used to call the Turk in the day. They get a knock on the door. Coach wants to see you bring your playbook or in this case, bring your ipad. Anyway, the coach meets with every player who was not going to be on today's 53 man roster. What you're looking to do is give them feedback about what it'll take to take the next steps. And, uh, it's a hard day for a coach or, uh, a general manager because, um, you know, real emotions for guys that are absolutely going for it, that love the game. And so, you know, we want to make sure we spend time with each player. So it, it takes a long time, but it's really important and the players deserve it to give them that feedback. Again. We're at a very fluid situation here. So those guys were cut, uh, across the league, 31 of the teams and all the scouting staffs are now doing this. All right, who did Washington cut, who did Dallas cut? And they're looking to see we might like that guy and they'll pick them off of waivers. And so it's, uh, it's an ever changing roster right now. We're gonna meet with the head coach and the GM Adam Peters tomorrow around 345 to get a clear view of what this roster is gonna look like. Well, to Leslie's point, the heartbreak of those who, who did work really hard for their blood, sweat and tears. This was a tough day for a lot of them. It sounds like you're saying some of them may get a second chance. So that happens a lot. I mean, look, Jerry Reeves, the safety, uh on the squad. He was the final cut four straight years and then went to the practice squad and became a pro bowler as a special teamer. So it, it can happen by the way, blood sweat and tears. That's what she did at Campton. Yeah. Yeah. You, hey, it was my first training game and you, you go, you signing up for next year too, right in the heat. I'm sure she's sold on that right now. We're working on that. Maybe I'll show up when it's a little cooler. I need a fan for next year. All right, here's a quick reminder. We've got a couple commander shows starting in the next few weeks.
