back over to you. Breaking news. We are tracking two fires burning right now in commercial buildings. One is at an event center in Lakewood, the other in an abandoned building in Seattle that one on South Jackson Street near Yesler Terrace Park. That is where we find Fox Thirteen's Taylor Winkle. Taylor, that fire looks quite large. What are you seeing from the ground? Yeah, well, we are seeing a steady stream of water as crews try to get this put out. So people started calling 911 and crews responded to this around midnight. And this is the look. Now, five hours later, you can see flames still burning up from the top of that building. You can see black smoke, a very active fire. They're trying to get that smoke to turn white, and you can also see a steady stream of water from those ladder trucks and fire hoses this morning, pooling all around the Chinatown International District. There is thick smoke in the air for at least a mile, and you can smell it before you see it. We know there's at least 85 firefighters working on this. Seattle fire says that two story building you see burning up there is vacant. They say crews took a defensive approach to fighting those flames. That tells us that they probably don't think anybody is inside or that approach would change to something more aggressive. Also they report no injuries so far. So that is the good news here. Other than that, details are still very limited. Right now. We did reach out to Seattle Fire to try to get more information on how they think this may have started in the first place, and to learn more about this vacant building and its history. This fire comes as Seattle City Council, just gave the fire department authority to demolish unsafe, vacant buildings that the property owners expense in an effort to prevent people from dying in fires like this one. Again, no injuries reported at this fire this morning. We'll update you as we learn more about this building. Meantime, all lanes of South Jackson Street from 10th Avenue to 12th Avenue are blocked. Crews are asking that you stay away from this area as they expect to be on scene for several more hours this morning.
