hello everyone welcome to my channel the rings of power the show is back now streaming on Prime video with new episodes every Thursday so how's the second season shaping up 1 billion but did that investment payoff well it hasn't been the massive hit that Prime video might have hoped for it didn't dominate the Emmys and fan reception has been all over the place it's safe to say it hasn't reached the level of some of their other hits like Reacher the story is set thousands of years before the events of the Peter Jackson movies following familiar characters like gadriel and Elrod alongside new faces like Duren Nori and arer season two picks up right where the first left off with galadrial feeling betrayed and foolish after discovering that the mysterious Hal brand is actually Sauron now she and her allies must try to stop him as he continues his schemes under a new disguise one thing that stands out is that before he was the iconic flaming Eye in the Sky s R is depicted as a guy who looks like he could be on a CW Show that's a pretty bold Choice meanwhile Nori is still on her journey with another mysterious stranger and Adar now played by Samuel hazeldine is leading the Orcs the recasting of Adar is smooth though many fans do miss Joseph Maul so does season 2 fix the issues from season 1 well yes and no the show no longer has to drag out the reveal that Hal brand is Sauron which is A+ the plot feels a bit more urgent this time around with clearer Stakes however some storylines like the Newman or plot still feel like they're there just because they have to be and not because they add much to the story and while AR looks cool the show doesn't seem to know what to do with him morphide Clark who plays gadriel continues to be one of the show's highlights following in Kate blanchett's footsteps isn't easy but Clark does a great job portraying a younger more headstrong version of gladel rings of power is in a strange spot it's both a massive expensive production and something of an underdog on one hand it's part of a huge franchise right up there with Marvel and Star Wars on the other hand it's been hit with a lot of negativity some of it unfairly harsh and even racist due to its diverse casting when you strip away all the external noise the show is visually stunning but doesn't quite hit the mark the characters Aesthetics and soundtrack are all there but the final product feels a bit too polished like it was made by committee it's kind of like a meal that's good but not great something's just missing in the end rings of power isn't as bad as its loudest critics would have you believe but it also isn't as great as it could be thanks for tuning in if you enjoyed this review don't forget to like comment and subscribe for more content let me know what you think about season 2 in the comments below see you in the next video
