Thanks for joining us. It was arguably the most anticipated state fair visit. Governor Tim Walls made an appearance serving ice cream this morning at the dairy building. And while it was nowhere near Walls's first fair visit, it was his first since accepting the Democratic vice presidential nomination. Our chief political reporter John Croman explains how this visit was very different. Governor Tim Wall's familiar territory. Unfamiliar role. This time, the man grabbing a pork chop on a stick is here as a vice presidential candidate. The reason hunters gathered on Judson Avenue hoping to catch a glimpse of a Minnesota politician who has suddenly vaulted into the national spotlight. We've been fans of his for a long time and it's kind of nice to be able to see him all set for security reasons. The governor's visit was largely contained in the dairy. He and first lady Gwen Walls help serve ice cream and milkshakes for those not from Minnesota. Just to be clear, there's a lot of great state fairs in the country. This is the best one and I say that having tried pork chops in Iowa and Bennet other ones, but great state fair. He also spent some time with Princess Kay of the Milky Way. A K A Rachel Visser talking agriculture and butter sculpture. I think people are saying that we're getting to talk about Minnesota across the country. Talk about the economy here, talk about things like the state fair, talk about agriculture, but most of the governor's time was basic retail politics. I'm so happy. I got a day out here reading those who were able to get inside. Thank you for being here. We got right in front. And so when he came in, we were right up there and I was able to shake his hand and tell him about my crop art. My crop art says make America Minnesota Tim. We had a chance to get close. My wife had some great video of him. The Hammond family drove all the way here from Chicago when they heard walls would be at the fair. It was an amazing experience. The fair overall has been a wonderful and then having the opportunity to meet the governor and hear him speak just briefly was really, I saw an amazing future vice President and he's gonna do great things. Governor Walls will head next to Milwaukee the first stop in an extended trip stumping for Vice President Harris for Carol Levin News. I'm John Croman.
