Coach Prime Time at Colorado looks like this after season-opener

reasons I got that circle is we're GNA start the Chiron Moore era at Michigan okay we're also starting it with national champions being the defending national champions in Michigan Wolverines defending Big 10 champions for the last three years they made a college football play but the one thing that has changed is Jim Harbaugh is not there neither's half the staff that helped win that national championship last year we also know that Michigan had the sign stealing scandle where they cheated okay uh I did that segment about sign Steeler and Conor stallion go check that out get my thoughts on it so we're not gonna waste too much time here you get the show cause penalty for a coach that's in the NFL for four years who don't plan to come back to maybe college football ever and then we're still waiting on what Michigan is going to say about the the notice of allegations that they receed from the NCAA they have 90 days from the day of receipt to respond to the notice of allegations conveniently for us 90 days from when they receive those allegations is one day before they play Northwestern and eight days before they supposed to play Ohio State November 30th then that is the game that Ohio State fans have been looking forward to for the entire year they're gonna get started with akan the Jeremiah Smith experienced all of it but there's a couple of questions on the field that I wanted to well ask and then maybe provide some context some answers is Will Johnson that good okay I realized that there is a Michigan fan out there that feels like what are you what are you doing RJ you you know damn well he's that good yeah yeah I know that he stood up against Marvin Harrison Jr he stood up against Romo duny he's that dude at Michigan last year best corner on his team best corner in the Big 10 quite possibly best corner in college football if you just want to take into account that he put a stop to romal duny and Marvin Harrison Jr then he put a stop to two top 10 picks in the NFL draft this year full stop but one of the things I thought was really fascinating and cool about him this year is he's at the top of the list for best available according to DNE bugler at the athletic meaning that bugler thinks that will Johnson should come off the board bety Travis Hunter before Shor Sanders before Quinn yers on down the list right before Carson Beck all the guys that you might put into that spot of perhaps being the number one overall draft pick in 2025 he's got him at number one okay also in there I didn't know this until I started looking into it he wears two because he wanted the pressure that came with Charles Woodson wearing two at Michigan and you'll remember the last time that Charles Woodson wore two at Michigan not only win the Heisman Trophy they won the National Championship 26 years ago what I thought was really cool about that is that when he got to Michigan he was supposed to where Jim Harbaugh's number four but he changed that up late changed that up late he's a legacy his father Dion played with Ty Law just missed overlapping with Charles Woodson you know what I'm saying like there's a whole lot going on to William Johnson but whether or not he is that good remains to be seen for me because I want to see who's gonna throw at him like last year maybe you're still throwing at him maybe you still don't actually know who that is over there but one of the ways in which I've always tried to take a look at say who should be a for the Jim Thorp award which is given to the best defensive back in football it's not just the interceptions that they have or the tackles that they have it's also how many people wanted to throw at you I I remember this vividly because Brian Kelly Notre Dame getting ready to play Alabama 2020 college football playoff semi-final and he was asked about Patrick ceran and he said we're just not throwing it that side like it was a matter of fact it was just a fact we're just not throwing to him wherever he is we're going somewhere else with the foot football does will Johnson have that kind of effect not just against Fresno State but everywhere is that how everybody they play is going to treat them is that how Texas is going to treat him because Texas might think that they got some dudes that can absolutely beat will Johnson one-on-one and if you're will Johnson that's exactly what you want if if you are wink marale defensive coordinator in Michigan that's exactly what you want I think there's a lot to be gained from looking at will Johnson and seeing how that irly translate to whether or not Michigan continues to win because remember Michigan has not lost a game at Michigan Stadium since 20120 as a matter of fact will Johnson committed to a team that finished two and four and since he joined that team they've been very good we all want to point to Conor stallions and that being a catalyst for them being great I like to look at guys like will Johnson to go I don't know dog he joined up too and that's that's not a coincidence last thing that I wanted to know about uh Michigan before they played fr or as they play with presid state is is Alex orgy that good I I realized that they ain't they ain't said he's the starter yet but I'll be shocked if he's not Alex orgy reminds me a lot of Jaylen milro but if he's got a read past two progressions can he still do it is he gonna be accurate with the ball we all know he can run it we all know that he's got that sort of flavor to him just like JJ McCarthy did in 2021 before becoming this you know the real starter right 2023 2022 is depending on how you want to look at this I'm curious I would like to know whether or not Alex orgy really got the goods and if he's really got the goods let's see it against the Fresno State team that I still think can give you a hard time I know that Jeff Tedford is not the head coach right there and before that that's a candidate for money in the bag now it might end up going the way Colorado versus North Dakota State went but it's going to be a really good opener I hope to finally get a gauge on what this Michigan team has been through because it doesn't seem to Lewis decides to not go to USC but flip to Colorado because there's gonna be a vacancy there a lot of things that could be moving here so I was looking at what Devin Brown Devon Brown what Ryan day living underneath that particular Rock you'll probably not know that last year a caller who went by Tyler from Spartanburg called in Dabo Sweeney's live show and gave him a piece of his mind and Dabo came unglued in a six-minute rant against Tyler and all Clemson fans like Tyler saying that the expectation is higher than the appreciation and you know what he had a point he like look here we've won 10 games in a row three years in a row that's happened three other times in the history of Clemson football before he got to Clemson what was the national championship first one 35 years oh yeah we won two and seven like Dabo was giving this boy his resume and I kept thinking Dabo you have been suckered my fan my my dude you've been suckered because fans do not care about what you have done they care about what you're gonna do what are you gonna do and as far as Tyler from Spartenburg had seen what you had done is lose 287 to Duke lose a game you should have won Florida State in overtime lose to Miami in overtime lose to NC State okay that's what he had seen you do doesn't matter that you finish nine and four doesn't matter that you be the good Kentucky team it matters that well we ain't playing for no national championships ACC titles now coach and you make a lot of money to do just that to which I'm just going to tell you hey look here man um first taking calls it's dangerous it's dangerous work it's dangerous to take calls like taking live calls real difficult on the host and the person gotta answer those questions because you gotta have you gotta be quick you got to know what you're talking about you got to know how to get in and out of this you got to know what is at the bottom of your caller's question or at your caller's allegations accusations whatever you just have to be quick on the mic and that's not a skill that a lot of coaches have to actually have because coaches get to dictate they get to tell you what's going to happen it's why Prime can show up there and tell off reporters he understands that part but a call-in show is also a great way to get trolled it's a great way to get made fun of but it also can be the lifeblood of your show if you do it right matter of fact I would love to take calls on this show if there was such a way that's why we do the chat that's why I wanted to do the live show tonight but I also recognize dbos Sweeney is not necessarily built for this job he's built for the job he has okay and I say that to say coach Sabin is figing this out too okay matter of fact one of the things that I've really enjoyed about Coach sabin's turn to being in the media is a couple of the quotes that he gave to the athletic and there's a great feature out on the ringer by Jordan Ron you should go check out but the quotes that I pulled out of the athletic I thought were really cool and I just wanted to give them to you so that when you were talking to me about what I do he you'll come to understand the greatest of all time also having a hard time adjusting okay you know I spent my entire coaching career according to people uh excuse me ACC costing people who speculate make predictions and ask hypothetical questions now that I'm in this world this is my gig and it's hard amen hallelujah can you say it a little louder for the for the for the folks in the back there coach can you can you can you telling just a little bit more about how difficult the job can be when you got to give an opinion about what might happen and then people want to hold you to account because your opinion was wrong or your opinion did not live up or you made a prediction that did not come true can you can you can you can you preach for me coach can you can you talk a little bit more about that tell me tell me some more about what you have learned on a little game day set little media tour that you've been on I mean he been coaching for the better part of 50 years but he been doing this job for all the two minutes here to tell you it ain't it ain't for everybody it ain't it ain't for it's cash dog I ain't for everybody okay another quote he gave this is the ultimate hypothetical situation talking about his college football playoff te team selection he hated having to do that because he said look if you were in a press conference you'd be getting ate out by me I be wearing you out yeah you would because he don't want to talk about no hypotheticals he don't want to talk about no rap poison you want to talk about process this is a man who believes that the scoreboard is irrelevant he believes that he takes that to his core he wants you to go about the process and in our business it ain't it ain't it ain't about process it's about results are you right are you wrong can you defend your position can you ask good questions can you actually follow the red light can you f those tallies when the mic comes on do you have something to say do you have something to add okay I think the bottom line that I would give is that this gig is hard I mean it's fun it's a lot of fun and I love doing it but the gig is hard especially if you do it right if you prepare if you do what I do which is host a show by yourself where you don't need callers and you don't need co-hosts that's what I've learned is kind of rare in my job in my space not a whole lot of people can just do this it's one of the reasons why Colin coward is at the top of the game you know what I'm saying he don't need you he can do this without you and be entertaining but people will show up tell you off all the time they will call you names they will remark on things you can't help like the way your voice sounds or the size of your head that or or even even the way that you're your face folds right like talking about your eyes or whatnot you'll learn to handle it or you wen't learn you won't you'll learn that the best take is a fact people want to argue facts then feelings feelings though inform fact for so many if I give you a fact that you don't agree with you're G to have a reaction to that and in many respects that's kind of the gig because that's entertaining if you ever are driving and you're listening to Sports Talk Radio and you find yourself talking at a stereo in a car to a person that cannot hear you that person that cannot hear you is doing their damn job and you should applaud like full stop who can do that that I've always thought that feeling was magical and I've always kind of been enamored by it and I've always tried to give it give people a reason to want to engage you lean in on this stuff you learn your weaknesses you accept them but you do not allow them to limit what you want to go do in the space and then you sit down in front of this microphone and you try again the next day and in my case you do this for seven years come September TW SE September 10th 2017 seven years this year I love this job I really do and believe it or not I love y'all too all right that is gonna do it for
