s what's up and welcome back I'm Steph sa joined by Michael boo hello hello and today we're gonna watch a franchise that I'm sure you've heard of your whole life I've heard of it my whole life I am ashamed to say as a Jim Carrey fan I've never watched Ace mura he's never watched Ace shocked and appalled I mean like yeah I tell people this all the time and they're like what I feel like this movie is so big it becomes part of people's personality I don't know we're going to get right into it so thanks for joining us [Music] like if I wasn't on a channel like this I don't know when I would have gotten around to watching this see the benefit of working for this channel is I can check off like all of the movies I've been amassing on my I need to watch it list like much faster than I'm adding the homies oh my God okay we did it we done it we made it through or acean Turin we are thoughts opinions now that you on the other side of life having watched fny it is really funny the physical comedy is unbelievable watching Jim Carrey Do Anything is kind of unbelievable that you're like and this was Prime Jim Carrey where you're like holy sh who can move their face and body and vocal cords like that rubber the man is rubber I don't know what muscles deflect and like I can make some pretty funny faces if need be but it's nowhere near his level and to maintain that level of absurdity all throughout the film is insane because like the level of energy he's bringing to every single scene and the level of creativity and the level of just like commitment to bits is mindboggling the man must be exhausted at the end of the day either that or he's just got infinite Wells of energy he's always on a th% of the time totally and it really feels like they just kind of point the camera at him and say go and then he just comes up with all of this it's insane not a single moment was his face normal or his voice normal or was he a normal human being no no he's a weird guy um what I also really liked about this movie is that it's easily can become like a long running sketch right or multiple segments and it is like joke joke joke like the whole thing is joke joke joke there's like one moment of a little seriousness with the when the guy jumps off or gets pushed off the building and then it gets back very quickly but what I liked about it and why it worked is cuz the actual story was cool like the investigation although farfetched was a fun investigation in the less yeah exactly and it had like twists and turns like it it had the Hallmarks of every good criminal you know detective story it was just Through The Eyes of Jim Carrey's like ridiculous character and it was about finding a kidnapped dolphin rather than solving a a murder mystery you know it kept with its theming even though it really like stepped away with its Vibe I guess yeah and I liked that there was a connection in order to pair him with the real detectives with the pet detectives and have that entire story running I did not expect the fem fatal I guess I should have known as soon as I said fem fatal like the F fatal is never the good person F never the person that the the detective ends up with so I should have known and it was like I felt like I was living in his world where I'm like he is a weird guy like no one's saying he's not and but he gets the job done he does he does in the most insane ways there's it's no wonder the man has been surrounded by animals his entire life like besides Courtney Cox's Melissa who somehow just sees all the best in this man I totally understand he's not a person that other people would be able to get along with very well no he has one and one only um that works and if he loses her I guess that's just the film industry but it would be cute I wonder what the rest of the the franchise offers like does he stay is Courtney Cox a regular in the Ace Ventura series or is it just kind of like Austin Powers where he has a different wife every single movie like I need to know and also for all you super fans or just fans of Ace Ventura how does this rank in the franchise is this one the best one should we keep going yeah absolutely please please let us know I mean obviously we're both newcomers to Ace Ventura and I've heard like incredible things about the whole franchise and obviously Jim Carrey is infinitely quotable as I said earlier I've been running around with a quote from this movie having never seen this movie before um so it's it's just like it's How Deeply rooted in the modern Zeitgeist this movie is for like our generation even which Speaking of when did this movie come out oh yeah I'm curious like what time era 1994 okay so like this would have been like the tail end like two years before I was born so like you know some folks older than me and then it would have been like one of those things that like you know the the older Millennial crowd introduced to like the younger Millennial crowd my friends with old way like 5year older siblings yeah yeah EXA watch this movie cuz the siblings had them watch it which makes sense and we like this is my favorite movie so I'm going to introduce it to you way too young sometimes you know my parents had me on Austin Powers which my parents too it's you know what sometimes you just got to be like yes I do feel like I am not to be insane a better person because I watched Austin Powers before I hit 10 you know I feel like it's it's one of those movies where you know you could we we sit here and we're like man there's a lot of dirty jokes in here really runchy but the also crazy zany comedy makes it perfect for like a younger audience yeah I it toes the line well absolutely absolutely you can have those runchy jokes but they go over like the younger sibling's head the younger sibling is just like ah he makes funny faces and he does funny things and it's funny and then the rest of us are sitting here laughing cuz we're like H they don't get that joke that was that was pretty good totally also have to say last thing I love the outfit it's the costume CH were so it's so like there's such a science to making an iconic wardrobe for a character and it has to do with the character being iconic too but I've seen all of his outfits outside of this movie like I feel like people have dressed up in like for like the tutu skirt I've seen his actual like comic book type tea with the bowler pants like I feel like I've seen all those iterations yeah absolutely I want his boots like I'll I'll say it now and I'll say it again those boots incred and I
