hey what's up everybody in this video I'm going to be comparing the last few GoPro models just so you have a better understanding and the knowledge to know exactly which GoPro fits your needs so without further Ado let's just get into it now the latest GoPro that you know GoPro has released is the hero 12 and after using this camera for the last 3 months I can tell you that this is definitely a really really good camera it shoots in 5.7k at 30 frames a second it can shoot in 4k at 120 frames per second and it can shoot 240 frames per second at 1080 which is fantastic but you know how does that compare to previous GoPro models well it Compares pretty similarly the GoPro Hero 11 does the exact same thing which for most people would be kind of a red flag to say the least and you know why would I buy the newer camera when the older camera shoots basically at the same video resolutions and and frame rates well the one thing the GoPro Hero 12 offers differently is a few different color spaces now to the average viewer and to someone who may not be super keen on editing videos or anything like that basically different color spaces are just a way to make your footage look more cinematic and look more professional now the two modes that the GoPro Hero 12 offers is GoPro log and HDR mode now HDR mode is basically stand stands for high dynamic range and dynamic range is essentially how much of your image is going to be blown out and how much of those Shadows are going to be viable or are they going to be super dark so dynamic range basically describes the ratio of the brightest part of your image to the darkest part of your image and that means from the darkest Black Point to the lightest white point and so high dynamic range mode essentially allows you to to get a nice medium where the whites aren't blown out and the darks aren't way too dark and personally this mode is my favorite mode on the hero 12 and I honestly think the footage looks really really good now I think something that a lot of creators were really excited for for the hero 12 was the log footage and after using this camera for a few months I can honestly tell you that I'm not super impressed with the log footage I personally think the Shadows are way too dark and way too noisy so much so that the shadows in the HDR mode actually look a lot better which is kind of funny because log footage is supposed to preserve darks the best out of any modes in any camera but in my opinion I think it's just a little bit of a software issue that gopro's going through right now and personally I think it will be resolved pretty soon but for the average consumer honestly ly these modes probably mean nothing to you and you probably don't even need to worry about them so that's where the hero 11 comes in like I said the hero 11 is basically the exact same as the hero 12 except it doesn't offer those color spaces so to anyone who doesn't care about log footage or doesn't care about high dynamic range I would probably buy the hero 11 and save yourself $150 there's certainly nothing wrong with going with the hero 11 I've had the hero 11 since it came out and I absolutely love it I personally was kind of reluctant on getting the hero 12 because I was like honestly like what more could they improve and I mean the answer isn't like a whole lot they didn't really improve that much other than just that one color space function they obviously improved hypers smoothing stuff but it's to the point where it's not even that noticeable anymore we're just kind of getting diminishing returns at this point but uh yeah it's it's just not super different now when you compare the hero 11 to the hero 10 the difference is pretty noticeable so even though these two cameras were only a year apart the hero 10 came out in 2021 and the hero 11 came out in 2022 so just because these cameras were only a year apart does not mean that they really didn't have a lot of differences to them and in fact it's just the opposite they have a lot of differences to them you see the hero 11 is the first time that GoPro really increased their sensor size the hero 10 had a 23 megapixel sensor and the hero 11 is a 27 megapixel sensor which is honestly for cameras that's a pretty large increase in megapixel count and because of this it allows you to film an 8x7 which is basically a 1x one square and you can't do that on the hero 10 so because of this it allows you to capture way more of an image and a way wider image now the other thing is the price difference between these two cameras the hero 10 is $50 less than the hero 11 and the hero 11 is a way better camera so even for the average consumer I think it is well worth it to purchase the hero 11 over the hero 10 be willing to spend that extra $50 because I promise you it's going to be worth it and as we move down the list to the hero 9 the price difference here here is another $50 and again the hero 9 is another camera that had a smaller sensor than the camera that came after it the hero 9 only has a 20 megapix sensor where again the hero 10 has a 23 megapixel sensor so in this case if you're considering getting the nine versus the 10 I would go with the 10 if you're considering getting the 10 versus the 11 go with the 11 if you're considering getting the 11 versus 12 in less you're a professional videographer who needs this camera for work who needs to be able to color grade extremely well and worry about dynamic range and all of those other functions get the 11 because the 11 right now is probably the best bang for your buck and the best GoPro out there as far as just you know the average consumer would need I really hope that clears up some confusion for you guys and I really hope you know exactly which camera you need to get now if you guys have any other questions about which GoPro you think you should get or if there's something that I didn't answer that you want to know about please don't hesitate to leave a comment down below and I will literally answer you as soon as you comment it within 10 seconds probably maybe who knows I might be busy but I'm going to try my best anyways that's going to be it for me I really hope you enjoyed this video I really hope you learned something and I will see you in the next video all right [Music] peace
