God my name is Royce dupes and uh I have the honor of serving as state senator District 5 but more importantly I have the honor to be among the many who grew up with jacobe I met jacobe when I was around seven or eight years old at a time when kids could only dream of being in some of those images that we just saw where kids could only say I want to be in the NFL one day I want to be great playing at punch train Park running to 75 left or the 85 right when jacobe he was smaller than all the rest of us but he was faster than all the rest of us too and I don't think at that time any of us quite saw that happening but God certainly did and um I'll share this little story miss Emily you know there's some truth to this I ran into him a few years ago and uh he met he I was introducing him to my soon to be white and he whispered over he said this man might not look like you but he taught me everything I know see things were a little different then that's when I was scoring the touchdowns and kind of showing jacobe the way but but he showed us the way and I'm here to just uh share a resolution on behalf of the Louisiana Senate to Express sincere and heartfelt condolences on the death of our brother jacobe Jones whereas jacobe Jones lived a life of determination and refused to give up after being told he was too small to play high school football whereas Jovi proved his detractors wrong when he went on to not only play in college but as a professional when drafted into the NFL by the Houston Texans in 2007 whereas while playing for the B Baltimore Ravens he showcased his unparalleled skill and athleticism when he set two Super Bowl records by accumulating 290 total yards and returning a kickoff 188 yards for his second touchdown of the game whereas ja jacobe Jones was further recognized for his achievements on the field when he was featured on the cover Sports Illustrated as a testament of his impact on his team and his overall influence within the realm of sports whereas after retiring from the NFL jacobe chose to give back to the Next Generation by coaching at the college level so that his knowledge experience and skill could enrich the lives of young athletes by guiding them on the path to achieving their aspirations at the professional level therefore be it resolved that sincere and heartfelt condolences are hereby expressed upon the death of jacobe Jones we extend our deepest condolences to Jacob's mother miss Emily his son little jacobe as well as all his friends former teammates and fans during this time of morning he was loved he will say picate Lord put your holy hands together as we celebrate his life on this morning how he lived and how he loved and how he has certainly left his leacy among all of us who are here and those who may be watching by way of one of the media instruments there is a word from the Lord from the prophet Isaiah and as I said and witness this wonderful homegoing celebration I thought about something that the prophet said in Isaiah chapter 41 and verse 10 the prophet proclaims fear thou not for I am with thee be not dismayed for I am thy God and in that same scripture the prophet Isaiah promises three things he says God tells us that he will strengthen us that he will help us and that he will uphold us with the right hand of his righteousness and centes upon centes it is the Apostle Paul who proclaimed in Philippians chapter 4 and verse 19 but my God shall supply all your needs according to your riches and Glory by Christ Jesus and family members and friends who have come to share on this morning be it well known as the hamw writer said that weeping may endure for a night but Dr will come in the morning because God knows just how much that you can bear may God bless you and may God keep you [Music] [Music] I will [Music] live to [Music] the oh GL is com from to give me in [Music] time are you are the SCE of my strength but not only that he is the strength of your life the strength of my life and so we lift our hands and [Music] say [Music] my prise [Music] to come on let's sing it again Lord [Music] will my hand and my [Music] eyes knowing my my [Music] from you [Music] say oh [Music] you you are the of my strength I don't know what you need right now but he is the strength of my life the strength of my time you are the St you are you are of my strength and you are the strength you are the strength of my life oh and [Music] [Applause] [Music] I to praise to [Music] you oh oh [Music] [Applause] [Music] Lord you are how many you know he's the strength of our life and all we should do is give him Total Praise And we should praise him in the morning and praise him in the noon day and praise him with a son go down I don't know about you but Lord You Are You Are My Strength you are the joy of my life and I live Total Praise Total Praise oh he's worthy to be praised from the rising of the sun until the going down of the sand oh I can worship him all day but we got to get to the cemetery but I can worship him all day for he's worthy to to be praised let's give God a hand clap of Praise one more time oh let's give him a hand clap of [Music] Praise first giving obedience to God who is the head of my life second to all the pastors and ministers in the house and I give reverence and obedience to the father of this house Reverend Fred Luda for giving us the opportunity to get here because laop h can hold all that we have here today but there is a word from God this morning as we move on in this life and as we continue may we all stand except the immediate family in obedience to God kindly turn with me to Psalms 37 vers 23 and 24 and it reads as follow the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord and He delighted in his way though he fall he shall not be utterly cast down for the Lord uphold him with his right hand you may be seated I want to talk to you for a few minutes on the subject of the testimony of a righteous man the testimony of a righteous man my brothers and sisters we all know the story of joob there was a man who lived in eyes and he was a upright and righteous man but I stopped by here today to tell you about a young man from New Orleans Louisiana he was a upright and righteous man in the Book of Psalms there's a Psalms for each and every one of us in here there's a pong of Praise there's a song for depression there's a song for anxiety but this Psalms this morning saying the steps of a good man are Ed by the Lord this righteous man by the name of jacobe Jones is someone who lived his life accordingly and he lived his life accordingly to God's will when you ask him what his favorite scripture was he could tell you I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me no matter how big the odds was he knew that if God was in his path and God was in his mind he can do all things that strengthen him but then what I love about jacobe was that he went to Houston Texans but then as he went to Houston God had bigger and better things for him as a Baltimore Raven I went in to study and I looked up the raven bird The Raven is a fascinating and unique bird one of good character is intelligence and it was a problem solver my brothers and sisters jacobe was a problem solver any problem came too big or too small jacobe knew the answer just like the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord this raven in the Bible the Raven is highlight as a unique customary bird in the Book of Job this raven was known for God and God knew the Raven as a provision and he cared for this raven just like jacobe Jones God cared for jacobe in the obituary it said that he accepted Christ at an early age but the script said man shall not live by bread alone but every word that proceeded out of the mouth of God jacobe know the words that were proceeded out of the mouth of God and everything that he did was good and everything God created was good in Baltimore jacobe became jacobe Jones and he did things that no other NFL player did and as he contined he continued with God in mind and everything jacobe did he did with God in mind I had the opportunity to talk to jacobe when he visit one thing about him is every Sunday he might have played a football game but when he had time to come home he found his way to the house of the Lord Where Mercy can be heard and his prayers can be found and one thing I knew about jacobe that he knew knew the Lord and he know the Lord was a provider for his every need because he knew the scripture says seek ye the kingdom of God and all things will be added unto me my brothers and sisters in the Gospel of Luke Jesus refers The Raven as a symbol of God provision and care he tells his disciple to consider the Raven who do not sow of wheat yet feeds them this is a reminder of God's faithfulness and providing for his people God provided for jacobe Al before jacobe knew it how many you know the eyes have not seen but is have heard we didn't see the magnitude that jacobe was about to be but the only thing I had a difference with ncoe was he went to the Pittsburgh Steelers how many of y'all remember when Mike Tumblin stepped back and he stopped jacobe from doing something else great but what I got to know that no matter what is done God is able to do all things but fail there's a motto that jacobe says and his M said you got his back he got your back leave no one behind well Jacobi had left us behind because was he gone to a place where the wicked would cease from troubling and the weary would be at rest jacobe is in the better place so Baltimore Ravens you did your job when you patted him on the back mr8 ran a touchdown but I stopped by to tell you that on July the 14th the Lord kicked the punt to jacobe Jones and jacobe received his Punt and when jacobe received the punt he said goodbye to the Houston Texans he said goodbye to the Baltimore ravian he said goodbye to the San Diego charges he said goodbye to the Pittsburgh Steelers but he stopped by La hop Thomson just to know that he was all right but today we celebrate the life of jacobe Jones but I could see jacobe Jones running the King's Highway I can see jacobe Jones running the streets that are paved with gold I can see jacobe Jones running around the walls full of Jasper but I stopped by to tell you he's all right if you can see jacobe he's walking the streets of gold if you can see jacobe his hand with Jesus to hold in my father's house there are many mansions if were not I would have told you for I go to prepare a place and there where I am he shall always be jacobe Mansion was was ready his room was number 108 and God called him home and when God called him home he said father I stretch my hand to thee no other help I know Li jacobe you may not understand it better but you would understand it better by and by Emily some glad morning when this life is over he carried jacobe away when we all get to heaven what the day of rejoicing there would be jacobe went to the exchange table he bought his cross to get his crown Millions didn't make it he was one of the ones who did he's walking the streets of gold Baltimore he's all right family he's all right be not dismayed whatever to be TI God will will God will God will take care of you you may not understand it better but you'll understand it better by and by by and by when the morning come he's in heaven he's in heaven if you can see him now if you can see him now if you can see him now I can see Matthew I can see bomu but I want to see Jesus the one who died for me and jacobe is at the table and he's talking to the Lord and Emily and he's talking and he said Mama I'm all right little jacobe he said I'm all right but if you look to the left those Baltimore Ravens right there they got you back if you look to bont Renegade they got you back so your father left you in good hands because he is in the arms of Jesus God bless you the testimony of a righteous man his steps was ordered by the Lord and his steps was good and all of God's children said amen he's worthy I got to take my seat but we got to go but when we all get to heaven but I knew about jacobe one more thing he bought some him books for the church and I could sing A Hymn he said if Jesus goes with me I'll go but the himym today This Little Light of Mine I'm going to let it shine everywhere I go I'mma Let It Shine in my neighbor's home I'mma Let It Shine so I'mma in made a work I've done speak for me made a life I live speak for me May a service the service I give speak for me see you later at a gator after a while [Music] [Applause] crocodile reflections of a mother son my heartbeat my love my miracle baby my best friend I will miss you so much jacobe I no longer have you physically
