hello I'm Jan carabo with your digital news brief for Monday August 26th a woman was shot and killed after trying to break up a fight between two men police are still searching for the shooter this happened just after midnight outside of a store on Kensington Avenue police say the men were arguing and when the fight turned physical the victim intervened and was hit by gunfire she is not believed to have been the intended target after a summer of cancellations and delays New Jersey Transit is having a fair holiday a week of free rides starts today and lasts through next Monday monthly pass holders meantime will automatically get a 25% discount on their September pass through the NJ Transit app or at ticket windows and today is National Dog Day and the wagging tailes Brigade is being celebrated at Philadelphia International Airport this is the fifth anniversary of the Brigade a group of therapy dogs that walk through the terminals there to make sure guests are comfortable and relaxed as they travel the dogs will be treated with a special cake and Philly International Travelers will be able to sign a card for them now let's get a check on our next we forecast here's meteorologist Grant Gilmore maybe a kibble cake yeah that's right definitely meat for sure thank you Jan uh starting off with temperatures in the 60s early but we're on our way to the mid uper 80s this afternoon here in Philadelphia something we're watching is a developing line of showers and storms that will move from the I95 Corridor down through South Jersey into the shore areas and that could bring us some stronger storms through the second half the afternoon into the evening Lehigh Valley looking pretty good today with high temperatures around 86 that chance for severe storms is isolated but still there mainly again through the I95 Corridor Delaware Valley into much of South Jersey Central Jersey and Delaware as well as we go through the second half of the day a lot of this being sparked by this tro pressure designated there by that dash line watch as we go into the afternoon there are those developing storms they will be relatively isolated but still enough heat and humidity in the atmosphere to help produce some of those stronger storms for the second half of the afternoon those all push South we'll start tomorrow morning with partly cloudy skies maybe some areas of patchy fog let me bring in the 7-day forecast because the the heat does not stop today 90 tomorrow 96 on Wednesday with then more seasonable temperatures but a return chance of rain as we go into Friday night into Saturday Jan over to you all right grant thanks so much and remember you can always get Grant's most up-to-day forecast and the latest stories right here on CBS Philadelphia at.com that's the latest for today's digital news brief I'm Jen carabo have a great day
