Coach Maynor discusses the loss to Auburn

coach um you talked about just the opportunity to come into an SEC environment obviously it's not the score line you wanted but what do you feel like you learned about your team today that you can take heading into your conference schedule yeah you know we knew coming in we was playing the SEC football team you know uh and a good secc football team coach free has done a super job since he got here in recruiting uh had a great class last year got the number five class right now for 25 and he's trying to build it through uh high school kids I think he signed three transfers and he's doing it the right way he getting kids that want to play and love the game and uh he got a lot of good football players out there and uh they showed it tonight um you know what we learned about our team is uh I learned that we're going to quit you know we kept fighting uh even though the score was lopsided we never gave up we kept fighting um they just had more bullets than we did and uh just kept leaning on us and we was over match from the start so uh we we just got to get back to playing in our conference um and you know we going to be all right we going to be all right you know our guys didn't quit and we got we got some improvement to do we watch the tape get better from it and get ready to play next week you spent a lot of time pregame talking to you and then after team had a couple words for you what were the conversation oh just uh before the game we just talked about the nil deals and the way the scope of college football uh and paying kids and and things of that nature and um after the game I mean then you know we just say good luck and I told him take it easy on us uh and then after the game I just told him good luck rest of the season he got a good football team and uh he told me the same thing so um you that's what it's all about you rotated your quarterbacks a lot tonight what did you like all did I like I would like to have scored more points okay uh they didn't play very well tonight um um and it wasn't all Auburn fault it was just sometimes some bad decisions um where we way we threw the ball uh pulling when we shut in the uh getting out of the pocket when we shunting of uh didn't make very good decisions at the quarterback position and uh we got to improve on that next week we got to improve on that uh stage might have been too big for us uh tonight so we'll see we we'll get back to the drawing boys and uh take one play at a time one quarter at a time one game at a time from here on in and uh we won't be having to play off no more so that's the good news coach they called Jordan here one of the hardest places to play what was the what you say you agree with thought difficult place to play in the hardest place I ever played in yes I agree with that 100% the crowd is great here uh 12th man that crowd is loud the bandage plays and they play right up until they know when they can stop playing and so they play right up till it's time for the quarterback to call to play uh and the crowd was in the game um they cost us on the goal line we had first and gold on like the two yard line and the crowd in the end zone got so loud we couldn't hear the Cadence and and we jumped and uh backed us up and I'm not getting getting a a score out of it so uh the crowd played a huge part in the football game and uh yeah they got a great great great crowd great surrounding great following how nice was it to see a a few Bulldogs out there in the crowd today it was nice it was nice to see our section of Bulldogs to travel down and support us um that's what it's about I think we probably bought all the tickets we could that they gave us you know they didn't give us a lot so uh it is what it is but uh yeah you know go buy doogs thanks for the support uh they support us all the time and I was glad to see him in the stands [Music]
