and a very good Friday morning I'm News 10 NBC meteorologist Rich canelon again this is Friday we got August the 9th we do have that yellow alert for that potential of some flash flooding as we head later into the morning and into the afternoon as the tropical downpours the remnants of Debbie continue to move up into New York from Pennsylvania there will be a few downpours and some pockets of heavy rain through about 3 4:00 that could lead to some poor drainage flooding Urban flooding watch for hydrop planing on the roadways uh also some flash flooding along creeks and streams could be a possibility in some of those bigger downpours in the early and the middle part of the afternoon the greatest risk will be near and to the east of Rochester so right now we're all under a flood watch right now we have a warning up in alagan County we'll see if any other warnings develop during the day but right now just the watches but when we look at the radar it kind of goes right with what I'm talking about that greatest threat for flooding will be east of Rochester when you look at it you can see the rain steadier and heavier East Side Wayne County into the Finger Lakes you go west to 390 the rain is a lot spottier and I think that Trend will continue as we pull out a little bit you can kind of see that line that demarcation Zone West not too bad East heavier rain is really starting to fill in so just look looking at the radar right now I'd be a little more concerned for flash flooding in the Wayne County Ontario County certainly Yates county but we could see some of that into Eastern Livingston and Eastern Monroe County as well and I'm highlighting those areas uh with the yellow here as the greatest chance to see some of that flooding through the afternoon near and east of 390 when you look at the future cash you can see that pocket of heavy rain as it moves through 1 2 3:00 this afternoon and then it will rapidly clear up later in the day so we will see Improvement as we head into this evening and tonight so to recap our yellow alert for today hey if you're watching the Olympics any warnings they'll come right at the bottom of your TV screen um if you're on the go today use the news 10nbc weather app for any warnings and updated posts as well on the weather as it develops so watch again for the flooding on the roadways creeks and streams and keep an eye on your basement especially again Wayne County and fingerlakes through the course of today if weather warrants of course we will break into news coverage on TV you will get all the alerts through the news 10nbc weather app and at wh.com
