[Music] [Music] hey welcome welcome to the outcast I'm Randy I hope you all are having a good uh week um real quick introduction of uh who I am and my quick elevator speech I'm Randy um I grew up in southern Missouri I currently live in North Texas uh grew up on a small farm and then in the um late 80s family lost the farm my parents separated and I knocked around southern Missouri for nine years until and I did farm work worked in the forest uh forestry work I did factory work I did some security work basically pretty much anything but retail uh that was honest and then in the 98 I had the opportunity to go to university to study architecture and where I got my Master's a professional Masters in architecture and then in 2006 I went and started a PhD in architecture and 2016 um left uh architect left the the program uh uh irreconcilable differences with the program uh and then uh cson had a little girl my wife and I were lucky enough in 2018 to have a little girl and um here in January I started um this channel architectural Outcast kind of the ground rules of the channel kind of what it's about I do I one of my areas of expertise was um is um Aesthetics um fancy term for beauty my um uh I was going to be a architecture Professor uh specializing in theory architectural Theory and uh philosophy um and again sub subset of Aesthetics or beauty um my kind of the kind of the focus of this channel is looking at visual imagery and symbolism in art um and I do view um literature movies TV shows as potentially being art uh all too often that falls short of art but that's a whole another story and because I deal and also I was uh training to be and was starting to become an architectural critic because I deal with um interpreting art we're talking about assumptions and we're talking about uh like I said interpretations so there are wrong interpretations but there aren't necessarily right interpretations it's all about Better or Worse arguments so at the end of the day we can agree to disagree and still be friends so that's kind of where I come from and my thinking on these things now I got to tell youall I kind of screwed up this week and it's my fault somehow I got in my head that rings of power was coming out Thursday night and I didn't realize it until Thursday afternoon then it' come out Thursday morning now the trade-off for that is is y all got three videos this week um uh I wouldn't have done the Snow White uh the second video I did this week the Snow White um analysis um would have held that off for a couple weeks because uh I uh basically got that video the rings of Power video out today um which I'm actually kind of impressed with myself the very first video I did on this channel took me a month to record and then edit the second one also took a month I have privated it because it's so horrible um Counting this Counting live streams uh this um tonight's show makes my 100th video on this channel and my the rings of power uh video that I did today while it's I would have liked to have had a little more time to edit it again kind of gone through a couple more passes I am kind of proud of myself that in you know a 100 videos I've gotten to the point where I could uh record and then edit a video in less than a day so it's one of those things like I said it kind of um a problem of my own making but at the same time it's kind of one of those reality checks to one of those nice moments where I realize I am actually making low progress um I don't know if the quality of my videos are showing that I hope they are but at any rate I can I can get them out faster now so I'm learning my software uh so um but the the thing of it is is I originally was going to try to watch all three videos uh all three uh rings of power episodes that that dropped and then talk about it tonight I'm only going to be able to do the first one because um that was the only one I had time to watch and and do the video so we're going to do that one first and then we're going to talk about Snow White we're going to talk about beauty liability and then we'll we're going to talk about some of the symbolism in um Snow White and why the classic is such beloved classic and why I'm predicting that the one coming out next year is going to be a bomb besides all of the stuff swirling around it outside of it just the store itself looks like they're going to screw that up royally um because like I said and again one of my mantras on this channel symbolism is it's symbolism is is why they say pictures are worth a thousand words U symbolism is a shorthand but it's a powerful shorthand it's a way of communicating complex ideas simply and quickly and sometimes universally um because you you'll find it's it's interesting that when you look into the history of symbolism you go back you know uh writing and and what have you all the way back to like the earliest cave paintings granted they're thousands of years old or however old they are we can we believe we understand a lot of what they're doing I mean some of it is very idiosyncratic and we don't know but some of it were like I understand that at least I I as the viewer can interpret that and Find meaning in that so there's amazing consistency and symbolism over time but you got to know what you're doing because as soon as you start messing with it you can send out messages you don't realize you're sending sometimes and the the example I like to to use all the time is like a house obviously my background you decide you're going to remodel your house and you want to take out some walls well some walls they're just partition walls move them take them out it doesn't matter but some walls are structural they're tied into the structure of the building you knock those down the whole house is coming out and so you better know which ones you're messing with you better know which ones are which before you start knocking down and that's the thing with symbolism especially when you get into storytelling you knock down one of those you you take out a symbol because you don't like it what it represents and and what have you you fundamentally you can fundamentally change the story completely change the meaning to the point where the story becomes either irrational or who you think are the good guys suddenly become the bad guys and who you think the bad guys are the good guys um and that's happen I I start with this little story because this is going on in both of our uh topics tonight rings of power and um Snow White now let's jump right into rings of power uh Rings uh tolken I mean we all know anybody who follows tolken knows obsessive with the details everything ties in everything's connected and there's Millions well I won't say Millions but there's unlimited stories that you could tell within the tolken uh world based upon you know all the The Unfinished Tales the the Saran the appendices on and on and on you know there's a whole bookshelf of of um stuff that you could you could adapt we're um again another one of my mantras on this channel every design decision is a conscious Choice it's meant to be that way when you're dealing with a design project especially like uh TV show on all design projects follow the same rules it doesn't matter if you're talking architecture you're talking interior design or um writing a novel or TV show movie it's a design project you're creating that world you're in control of that world and so you decide what the audience is going to see it's like when I um um made um my video today I edited out there was a some there was a whole section about a a TW minute section that I had in there that I edited out because I thought it um disrupted the flow of what I was trying to say you all don't know it unless I tell you I chose my design decision was to eliminate that not let you see that and when you create a TV show or movie you're framing the camera you're framing the shot so that anything around outside of that immediate shot is irrelevant you could have somebody standing on on their head picking their nose and it doesn't matter it's like I always I keep talking about how in the in the Golden Age of Hollywood they created an entire Fantasy around the movie stars that their whole lives everything they presented was a facade was an illusion um a fantasy world and so you see these pictures of these happy stars at home you know holding their kids and hugging their wife or hugging their husband and it's just and then you would show all these pictures over time of this happy loving family but as soon as the camera went off they're kicking the dog they're throwing throwing bricks at the neighbor's house they're having domestic squ squabbles they're yelling at their kids but as far as that illusion within that frame it all doesn't matter it's it's the fantasy and that's the design to decision and so you always hear you know you why did you choose to point your camera there why are you pointing your camera there okay why do they choose to point their camera at gadriel what's the point see often times we go along with the Assumption we don't question the assumption why the artist why Amazon uh showrunners writers chose to tell this particular story well um if you look at uh if you go back to um um uh earlier video I did talking about um oh um the photo shoot couple weeks ago they they dropped a promo photo shoot and then you go back to the photo shoot they did at the beginning of season before season 1 they revealed their agenda thereafter gadriel they want to deconstruct reinterpret gadriel that's the agenda of course destroy eliminate toxify tolken destroy his legacy that's a goal too but how they want to go about that is by destroying gadil and I'm going to be upfront with y'all I don't think that rings of power is tolken so people are talking about rings of power has um damaged token's low they have gone so far into parody they've gone so far are into another [Music] reality that it has nothing to do with token anymore the only thing has to do with token is some is some similar names the same you know the name gadriel that character isn't gladel though the only thing they have in common is the name same with all the other characters this this the names of the places and what have that's the only thing that it has in common everybody talks about they break the law they don't have anything to do with the L it's not like they break the lore it's irrelevant the lore is irrelevant they're getting in they're trying to pick and choose the pieces and so it's it's so far removed it's not token it's his own thing I said at most it's like a parody um that they don't realize that a parity now one of the things um again those of y'all who've been around U one things I keep talking about those who don't have a morality now when I say this I don't mean a you know my morality or your a morality and what we're learning and um and uh I spent 18 years in Academia and the thing that I learned with a vast majority of people in Academia professors faculty what have you they profess to have a particular morality but in reality their morality is if it's good for me it's moral if it's not good for me it's immoral I benefit it's good I don't benefit it's bad that's the end of their morality and that's where we're learning more and more about Hollywood and about entertainment industry and maybe it's been this way for a long time but it's become no they're no longer bothering to create that illusion that fantasy around so that we're seeing you know social media and all that we're seeing the reality okay so that's what like I said that's what I mean by they don't have amorality they're amoral people who don't have imorality don't understand moral inspiration they don't understand it's like you know keep talking about they don't like the they don't understand hero heroism because for that type of morality for for being aoral they think heroes are Chumps and fools why run towards the fire why run towards people in danger it doesn't benefit you they're fools they're idiots so they don't understand the hero mindset and they don't understand why we would admire and respect the hero mindset it's an ideal to Aspire to you we may not be able to you know uh slay a dragon but we can admire somebody who would given the opportunity does do so um it's like one of the the most inspirational things that I can remember seeing and this is years ago uh Hurricane Katrina there was a kind of became although I don't know if they ever found out who he was uh became kind of a celebrity for a moment although it was like an unknown the floods were going through this one area and there was a narrowing spot where people were people were swept into into the flood but there was a narrow spot and this kid looked like he was late teens early 20s had all the signs that more than likely he was um um on the wrong side of the law uh in involved in gang activity or whatever and he had signs that probably was a habitual drug user but he was the one who St who chose to stand in that water up to his waist for hours catching people and pulling them ashore and then he'd go back and stand there and catch more people and a news crew came along and the reporter and none of them helped asked him why are you doing this and his response was somebody had to do it like at that moment in that crisis that guy stepped up and saved I don't know dozens of people's lives the most unlikely person that you would never you know uh you look through a picture a photo book of people he wouldn't be one that would say yeah that one but at that moment at that time that guy stepped up and you saw that attitude with the reporter couldn't understand why did this guy do it it's not benefiting him but I think most most people who something like tolken resonates with understands the mindset of that guy at that moment that he chose to step up because at that moment he had that understanding of what it is to you know self-sacrifice and um uh altruistic helping of others for the simple fact of helping others and that inspirational that moral inspiration acts as a mirror the problem is those without morals I will say those without moral without a morality don't like the mirror because they don't like what they see but instead of doing self-reflection instead of saying oh maybe I should think about the way I live my life because that's the whole point to moral inspiration they turn on the mirror they want to destroy the mirror they don't want to see the reflection so that's the motivation also there's the motivation to stop other people because again seeing others Act that that causes moral inspiration they don't like that because that acts is a mirror too and so they have to destroy the moral inspiration so that's why they want to destroy and toxify tolken and he's not the only one he's just the current current um the current one the current Target of their fixation but like I said they because they don't understand it they don't know how to attack it and that's why like said it's it's become a parody and we're going to see here in a minute it's fueled season 2 is fueled by hate season 1 was rejected people saw through what was going on in season one well it was just a bad show but they saw through the message and they rejected it they weren't interested in gadriel they weren't interested in a woman projecting masculine power and in particular gadriel who is the is one of is presented as the ideal of of feminine power and so now it's payback time now they're too busy arguing with the audience over season 1 that they've lost the plot they've gone off on this other they're too busy fighting with the audience now and as a Creator you're done you screwed up you're done screwed up because yes you should cater to the audience in some respect you create something that especially in like where you need the audience you know economic based you need the audience's money to justify you doing what you do so you got to create something that you think the audience is going to enjoy but you have to maintain control over your vision because that's what gives what you're doing authenticity legitimacy and the audience will will pick up on that and perceive that which will give what you're doing more value to the audience as soon as you either one go fan service which a little bit is fine but as soon as you go full fan service you're done because then you're just bootlicking or if you go the the other rout what what uh rings of power is doing and becoming in full battle with the audience an antagonistic relationship you're also done because the audience will walk away because they don't have to stick around they got better things to do with their time but they're so convinced and one they they're they're pissed and they're resentful and they're spiteful and so they're going to show us you don't like what we did in season one wait till you see what we do in season two but like I said they don't understand what they're dealing with so they're going off way over there and there's no longer token and let me um let's see yeah uh let me um let me open this okay not that one let me I had something else loaded up I thought I was being clever okay yep here we go but in reality I kind of got myself out of order so let me me share yeah here we go okay they told us in season two let me blow this up they told us in season two uh in the photo shootting season two what they were going to do you want gladel to be feminine to to project feminine power okay we'll give you that but we're going to make everybody feminine as I talked about with this photo you look at it all the men are are dressed in feminine coated clothing and taking feminine stances and they're also being portrayed as subservient to all the women you can go back to previous videos if you want to see all the breakdown on that but uh let's see yeah so let me close that and now we're going to go back let me yeah let's see we want to open that okay and we're going to go here yeah so let's go back again yep okay this is what I had this is what I had preloaded yeah let's see should we do is it that one oh no that's not the one I wanted okay let's go with that so you guys can see it because one now again coming from a design perspective this show is horrible is everybody keeps saying where did the billion dollars go kind of like acolyte where did the $280 million go this is even worse keep asking where did the money go because um so most of uh episode one is a muddy mess the criticism of tolken has always been especially from those without immorality is that Middle Earth is a beautiful lie it's not it's it's um that Aragorn isn't Noble isn't just was not a righteous king and the argument they always use is the Orcs Aragorn massacred the Orcs And in today's video I I referenced again it goes back to one of my earliest videos where I talked about George R Martin when he did his speech Beach um accepting that award at uh Trinity College Dublin where he telegraphed the he was upfront about this traditional argument against tolken and he telegraphed how it was going to be attacked how tolken was going to be attacked that's with the Orcs And if you all remember he said you know yeah token's great and all but I have questions things I want to argue with with the professor over I wanted to know about the he said he says in one sentence Aragorn W ruled wisely and was a great king it's like that's the easy way out I want to know what was Aragorn's tax policy how did he deal with famine and those Orcs did he just Massacre him commit genocide or were they re rehabilitated they did they intermar like they're evil they're a Corruption of life now to be fair tolken did address issues he was concerned about preordain um but Destiny um that you know the were the Orcs individuals and could individual Orcs be saved and he had concerns about that and again the L Masters out there know in depth um more details about that but but basically in the context that Martin was talking about they're evil but they want to make it a gray a murky gray there's no good and evil there are no heroes and villains it's all about perspective well yeah aror says that the Orcs were bad but what did the Orcs say what's their side of the story and that's what this is going for this is what SE um they um imply it and start the argument in season one but season two they go explicit because in the very first scene where you see saon rallying the Orcs he explicitly you know they're like the Orcs are like no no no we don't want to go to war we just want our freedom we just want to live in peace and happiness and love and just do our own thing and saaron says no you have to I'm your only hope because the elves won't accept you men will despise you they will hunt you they will exterminate you he's read the Lord of the Rings he knows what's going to happen a couple thousand years in the future it's one of the advantages of making prequels you know how the story ends you can and so he's and the Orcs they reject Sauron they kill him Adar you know uh let's see uh I got this keyed up I don't have to talk about it I can show you all yeah um you know he's saying hey you know me you know he Orcs are challenging him hey hey you know we ain't buying what you're selling buddy and again the Orcs are going to gravitate to the most powerful evil the Orcs are I mean according to the story they serve evil war is in their blood and the the Orcs that that uh you know tries to Ambush saaron he kills him fromont everybody to show you know hey hey don't mess with me and the Orcs are like uh they attack saaron kill him let's see if I can okay see if I can get to the view see it's all there we go it's all a muddy mess but the ycs and and Adar kill saon but then Adar after he disappears Adar says is somehow they survived the the ice storm or whatever but uh Adar says you are free my children but they recognize that well they may not want to follow Sauron but they recognize Sauron was telling the truth let's see if I can find it um well I won't go there um because because they go to war with all the Middle Earth it's an act of self-defense because they're going to be persecuted and hunted down so they go on the offense to just survive and then the the whole argu it's it's a it's a classic it's not really their fault the world made them that way argument if elves and men had lived up to their ideals that are a lie this would have never happened because they would if they lived up to their supposed ideals they wouldn't have H they wouldn't have persecuted the Orcs so then the Orcs wouldn't have had to go to war to survive so in reality it's men and elves fault that the Orcs end up in the long run follow saon it's not their fault they're just inocent victims in all of this and so they also want to make Sauron sympathetic it's not sauron's fault that he became per personification of evil yeah yeah yeah he's maor's right-hand man and he was trying to rebuild maor's Kingdom right after Mal Was Defeated and he was trying to Rally the Orcs to take over the world but the Orcs murdered him and the Orcs wouldn't have murdered them if the humans and elves had treated him right and follow their ideal so sauron's going evil is men and humans uh humans and El's fault and of course you know sinon's not dead and he murders he murders a woman hey James just the way the innocent victims invaded Poland in 1939 after the polls invaded German yeah yep exactly um I you you um bring up a point so I'll tell you all the story um those of y'all been around my channel uh you probably seen um video I did I don't know month like a month ago now talking about um surviving Addiction in within family um my father and my brother um sadly passed away in 2011 uh 2010 um within months of each other and both direct result of over a decade of uh drug alcohol drug abuse my brother um in 8990 he moved up to St Louis uh for a job and he met and started dating a very beautiful black lady same age you know late teens early 20s and one uh one Friday night that went to a street festival in St Louis and they're walking down the street festival holding hands and out of the crowd came four black men who assaulted my brother and beat him so badly that for the rest of his life he had seizures while he and and he actually went into having seizures on the ground on the street as these four men beat him for the crime of holding hands with a black woman cops were called because again this is a big street you know uh Civic function cops were the two cops who showed up were also black and they decided that it would be a good idea to take their KN sticks and beat my brother samore because he was resisting arrest and in the process of subduing him they broke both of his thumbs and dislocated both of his shoulders while they were arresting him which as they're as they're doing this um some doctor some came up said no and um as as the doctor came up or me whatever medical personnel and said no he's not resisting arrest he's having a seizure and the two cops disappeared to this day we've never found out who they were most people will tell you and and my brother had been beaten why he had seizures is he had been beaten so severely nearly about the head and shoulders um he has he had brain damage he personality completely changed after that and that's one of the points where he really went into drug abuse I used to tell the story um and also um prior to that um my family uh us kids my parents raised us kids um to be as color as possible I mean my brother was dating a black girl um that just in our world at that time was irrelevant it just it's people we were taught to see people not anything else after that my brother became extremely racist uh specifically towards black people didn't have any issues with any other group of people I would tell the story in University and one it got to the point it got to be I was trolling professors because I knew what would happen because they would do this mental gymnastic thing to where oppression and what have you that in this situation my brother was the villain and those six black guys two thugs off the street and then two racist comps were justified in what they did so we're talking and laughing and making fun of the stupid TV show but this mindset and this logic has real world World consequences like James pointed out because um I don't I don't know if James you remember um a while back when I did um uh one of the episodes of the outcast on how communism has been in Hollywood since the beginning and I actually showed um photographs of the Chicago Tribune making this exact argument in 193 9 when um Soviet Union and Germany divided up Poland is the Soviet Union invaded Poland to save Poland that Poland was the bad guys and Russia was saving ger was saving Poland from itself they were the heroes in the story it's not their fault that they invaded Poland it's not Germany's fault they invaded Poland like I said this stuff has real these ideas have a long history with real world consequences it's one of the reasons why I'm calling it out mocking it uh but anyway so again they're trying to make Fon sympathetic again the he is the devil in Middle Earth he is evil itself in Middle Earth in The Lord of the Rings but now we're saying it's not really his fault and yeah he murdered a woman but he wouldn't have done it if the Orcs hadn't murdered him and the Orcs murdered him because humans and elves didn't live up to their ideals and if the individual is guilty of the crimes of the group The Woman had it coming and then they so show um here later let me jump ahead because I'm I'm not doing I didn't do this chronological but let me see if I can find it there we go yeah oh hey they show saon he's turned himself he's um however got captured by the Orcs And he tells them I know where sauron's at give me what I want and I'll help you and New York's like screw you buddy we're going to get out of here one way or the other so they torture Sauron and we get to see the poor guys suffer and we're supposed to be sympathetic again that same torturous logic you're you're there's no evil it's all murky it's all gray it's all perspective it's all well whose fault is it really and then if you're going to if you got if you're going to go down the moral ambiguity argument Road you can't just make evil ambiguous and gray you have to destroy good there can be no good it also has to be perspective and ambiguous and we see the elves they're schemers they're manipulators they're liars and cheats it's straight out of the Game of Thrones I mean the Amazon has told us they wanted their Game of Thrones and we know you know in in token's uh lore elves weren't perfect they did all sorts of Despicable things but they weren't corruptible and they were honest they were loyal they weren't evil they weren't backstabby back bitey but that's what we get it's like there it's you know house dark versus house Lister type stuff and they're dumb that's a whole another thing is they're dumb and let's see oh come on come on yeah here we go wh it's so short yeah okay well I'll just crap okay it's so dark and muddy but we'll go with that uh cured in the ship right one of the most trustworthy of all the elves he guarded the elves only way out of Middle Earth to the west to their Heaven he was entrusted with making sure their exit to heaven was safe you'd think he'd be one of the most trustworthy Dependable elves there were and he held that position he was one of the what the oldest elf held that position thousands of years but he betrays doie Elon after just looking at the Rings once the eles were deceived by salon but once they realized what Sauron was up to they didn't go along with it and a lot of the elves were suspicious of Sauron got away from him when he was uh anatar uh they were suspicious they got away from him Chief among them was gadriel but that's another story and so when the Rings when they realized what's going on with the Rings they hid theirs and they never succumbed to the evil and we see in in the books and in Jackson's adaptation gadriel was able to resist the One Ring itself but here they make us let us know yeah the Rings corrupted the Ys but they were already rotten to begin with they're they're shown to have have no morals and they're also shown to abandon their morality at the most and and advantageous moment that benefits them the most power you write what you know you write what you believe these Writers come from the mindset power at all cost they think borr did nothing wrong his only mistake not getting the ring not finishing the job so yeah according to this the elves the only difference between them and Men is the little pointy ears and then we come back to gadriel let's see I want to okay yep yep okay I gotta say again design wise this show is horrible that helmet looks like I I will tell you no joke that helmet looks like a helmet I made for Fifth Grade School play I played guard number four and for whatever reason I got the job of making the helmets for all four guards and I wasn't even the speaking role I just got to stand I was guard number four but I made and actually my mom helped me out of cardboard and I was rather proud of myself and it looked suspiciously like that helmet now I wasn't a brilliant helmet maker so when I say that looks like my fifth grade school play helmet I mean it doesn't even look like it fits it looks cheap but we'll we'll come back um I'm sorry I just but let's see if I can there we go okay I'm not gonna pull up the picture uh hey James it looks like it's made a oh I'm not doing my job sorry you need to yell at me guys uh James uh is it looks like it's made of plastic a Halloween costume exactly exactly and it looks like a uh a cheap one at that an inexpensive one um I mean yeah it just I'm not going to bring up the pictures but you all should know that famous picture sorry sorry burping yall should know that famous picture um of gadriel in her armor staring into the camera I've talked about it quite a bit on this channel in season one they made gadriel masculine season two like I said you want feminine we're going to make her feminine now this is a a um small thing but once you become aware of it um you'll notice it in season one gadriel talked in short choppy sentences with harsh sounding words sorry but what I'm trying to get it's like the more consonant gutal sounds they're doing a parody of masculine speech patterns but in SE in episode one of season two she talks breathy and she draws out and she uses small uh softer sounding words it's a parody of feminine speech patterns and then and like I said you know again you see um in season one she most of the times went with her hair in a war braid and wore armor and very little makeup you see here in this in episode one she's in glowing robes vibrant colors hair down and she's wearing makeup blush on her cheeks bit of foundation smooth out her complexion lip color all the soften feminize her and let's see okay okay see I may not be able to find it there we go oh got it and you see when she goes to talk to do elron give me the Rings she puts her hand on top of his as she's again going all breathy and soft gentle speaking soft sounding words again it's a parody of feminine persuasion techniques season one she'd pulled her sword and guned him but there's a um catch because again you go back to the picture I showed earlier of the photo shoot they're going to feminize everybody um again let me see if I can let's see he deceived me H I don't want that I was to not that okay so it's not that scene okay okay we're at the end there we go y'all will notice what's the modern language everybody is wearing feminine coated clothing male female it doesn't matter they're all dressed feminine drap the the the cut the tailoring is feminine the coloration is feminine There's no distinction and then early on cuz these people aren't subtle they like sledgehammers between the eyes when it comes to messaging so just so you get the point we already we already referenced it Sauron when he kills the woman he puts on her clothes the dark lord evil personified is is wearing a dress they put him in the dress again every design decision is a conscious choice they you don't like us mascul liing gadriel okay here you go try this on for size but like I said they're reaching the point where we're getting to parody Or well actually well past parody I mean we're we're pushing into Milton Burl sketch territory here and I didn't go into like I said uh my um wasn't you had to cut out some stuff in my video today and and some areas I wasn't able to go into I figured I got seven more episodes to to get it hit the low light so to speak the look of the show the design of the show grab and dreary and and I've talked about this and I'm not the only one um who has okay okay where we go okay these Rings these Rings the three Elven rings I mean first off look at High King gilgalad Rings they look like biker rings which for for y all that don't know that means cheap big hunks chunks of metal that are just one step above costume jewelry their actual real function is brass knuckles but the Rings themselves look cheap just bad design and there's no excuse for it absolutely no excuse for it because one tolken has a lot of drawings as inspiration he did himself and then the Jackson adaptations beautiful design no excuse but like I said at this point we're in the parody world and I yeah yeah it's it's parody the sad thing is is they don't know that they're doing parody the hate this is a classic example of why you don't hate why you do not hate you lose your reason you lose your judgment you lose your perspective when you start fighting with the audience and as we're going to see um well I I'll comment on this um real quick um that's a I'll will go with that at least it's aesthetically not bad to look at um but um intersectional feminism has wanted gadriel scalp for a long time very long time because again she represents traditional feminine power fact she's she's the IDE is presented as an ideal it's like she's she's Fe feminine power cranked up to 11 and so they've wanted to destroy her for a long time and that's why in season 1 they portrayed her as masculine just completely deny her femininity and and turn her into a dude audience rejected that and I've said before sorry I've said before it's kind of ironic token's audience is over 50% men I'll let others argue the exact percentage but it's a male dominated audience who overwhelmingly Galadriel is one of the more popular characters in the story both the books and the movies excuse me sorry about that one of the more popular characters they're the ones defending cadriel so like I said the irony is not lost but got rejected so now what they're going to try to do they're going to try to destroy gandel by using a twisted manipulated reinterpretation of traditional feminine power but I I don't know if you all remember the video I did it's actually the best performing video I've done on this channel where I broke down um the thought processes for um the acolyte how actually the story is was not irrational I mean it was irrational but there was a logic to it if you understood the driving philos opies behind what they the message they trying to send same thing going on here they're going to try to use the intersectional feminist deconstructed critique of traditional feminine power to justify destroying gadriel but they have a problem in that intersectional feminist Theory says you cannot portray a woman in a negative light you always have to show her in a positive light and you always have to show women in in Superior positions to men so they have to D they they want to destroy gadriel but they have to do it in a way where they show her in a positive light and being Superior to men both morally intellectually all of it so what they're going to try to do is use this warped interpretation of feminine power blame galadriel's failings on this traditional feminine power but like I said at the beginning of the discussion you start messing around with symbolism you take out the wrong wall the whole project collapses the whole house Falls in they're telling the story again incompetent writers they're telling the story where gadriel is responsible for everything she brings Sauron in she finds him brings him in he's saying I don't want to be involved although this season they're trying to reccon that saying well no he was really evil all along because they realized oh wait a minute gets him to help make the Rings figures out he's Sauron doesn't tell anybody lets them run off okay you helped us so I'll let you go Lord of all evil get out of here I'll keep my mouth shut and and then when she gets caught when she gets caught she still tries to lie and weasel our way out of it when DOI ilon brings the Rings to High King glad uh gilad and he's telling these these things are dangerous they're evil and Gil glad says to to gladel who's the guy that made this well um um uh wow the weather's nice out no well look at the time maybe I need to be going like no you're going to tell me she like well I think you might be well um uh he might be sor and then when doon's like hey hey hey you didn't she attacks him like Hey you screwed up so you're you don't have any right to speak and for all of this I King GL Gil glad like ah there's no consequences for you yeah stick around and when uh I mean reality is doie elron shouldn't have jumped off the cliff the El should have checked her off the [Laughter] cliff and later when they're having the little meeting in in gad's little office chamber he has to specifically say she's like oh I'm still trustworthy and the King has to specifically say yeah yeah I I trust you and all through the show she's constantly still putting the men around her in their place one uping them she back talks the king argues with him argues with other people in front of him yeah yeah that's going to happen y all probably know some pretty uh famous incidents in history where people tried to pull that and then she's still the key to everything she's still you know she's the one that figures out where du elron went off to and she gets the ring in the end the only consequence is for their next mission she has to work under do yon but they've already showed that she thinks she's Superior to him so that's going to work out well but don't worry folks she did it all in a soft breathy voice very feminine like she in there trying to do two things that are mutually exclusive destroy her character and show her to be a superior being I am elf woman hear me roar she doesn't come off as Superior she doesn't come off as right or Vindicated she comes off as a self-centered manipulative narcissistic [ __ ] she's a parody of gadriel she's a parody of femininity and she's not too bright in the process we got seven more episodes and I'm going to be here for the fun I keep saying Mel Brooks is Right identify evil as evil and then mock the hell out of it so I think I'll leave that there um let me uh yeah I'll leave that there let me close that um so I think now we're going to talk about Snow White and it's a it's a similar transition because it's it it is the same thought processes attempting to destroy traditional feminine power now I keep using intersectional feminism and I also in my video talked about academic and corporate feminism yes I'm being redundant I want to be very clear about something um somebody in my comments uh on that video um pointed out a good point is often time you use the feminism word people get all wrapped up in feminism and they get you get distracted from the point and going be very clear in how I Define things I Define things as there are two types of feminism there is everyday feminism and then there's academic and corporate feminism yes I'm being redundant and why I say that all the time I am ing um academic in corporate feminism in was it uh I Define two types of feminism like I said everyday feminism is women everyday women out there living their lives raising their family having their careers pursuing their dreams and all they're asking for is respect for what they do and that type of feminism I'm 100% on board with I've talked about um in previous shows and previous videos when I was still in architecture I was uh actively uh architecture you don't learn to do architecture Ure by yourself you always have mentors older generation mentors the younger generation I was very much actively involved in mentoring women architects because architecture is a brain business it's about using your brain it's not about use it's not a you don't need a physical advantage to do it and women can do architecture just as well as men and in fact there's no such thing as a masculine architecture and a feminine architecture women don't do different type of architecture than men it's completely idiocy idiosyncratic architecture is an Architects are idiosyncratic by Nature the ultimate individualists it's very hard to group into groups and gender is not a group you can group them into and so prior to me too because now it's too dangerous I was involved in uh very actively mentoring uh women uh next the generation after me I was mentored by several women as well uh um two in particular were very influential in helping me get as far as I did so in that sense I'm very much supportive of that type of feminism academic and corporate feminism I have no use for because again it's a lie and as I'm going to be talking about here it's founded on hate it's founded on hatred of other women it's it's actually a lie hidden behind a lie they claim to feminists fighting for women but you dig into it and you find out they're actually marxists they're actually you they're using feminism to hide their Marxist agenda but if you dig into that you find out if it's good for me it's moral if it's not good for me it's immoral they will change their tune they will change their uniform at the slightest drop of a hat at their convenience so like I said it's a lie behind the lie but what motivates their quote unquote feminism is hatred of other women because in Western culture the belief is that women and this goes all the way back to the Greeks the belief is that women nurture culture and that by nurturing Men by women nurturing men men become civilized and cultured and what these academic and corporate feminists yes I'm being redundant hate and despise is their Safety and Security are dependent upon other women choosing to nurture society and nurture other men and those women often times have more cultural feminine power than they do and if you dig down even a little further more often than not those women who have more cultural social feminine power are physically more attractive than them it all can be pulled back to jealousy they love the power that Society grants them because they're women but they resent the reason why they have that power they want to hold on to the power but eliminate the reason the justification and like I said earlier when you start talking about symbolism and meaning when you remove the reason behind the cultural power their nurturing nature their nurturing culture they're nurturing men to make them civilized cultured and they only have the power because they're women there's a term for that bigotry more specifically mandry I'm only deserving something because I exist and as I said in the video um on on um symbolism of Snow White I was on a thesis Committee of a friend of mine young lady who um I was a reader she was actually you're all going to laugh at this she was actually a a uh women's Studies major was it she was a nice person we became friends we got to know each other through a mutual friend became friends she was a nice person I got along with her we had vehemently vehement disagreements about things had long discussions uh over um with friends over dinner with a glass of wine and we could agree to disagree and still be friends and so when she started her thesis she asked me to be a reader because she was going to do a feminist Marxist deconstruction of traditional fairy tales and one of the fairy tales that she selected was Snow White and like I said why she wanted me to be a reader my job was to destroy her arguments she wanted me because I was ideologically and philosophically opposed to her project she wanted me to tear her tear her ideas down find all the flaws and holes in them and we actually um couple days before she defended her thesis I told her you do realize that your whole argument is built upon a say uh um a foundation of sand that you have to accept certain assumptions before the whole argument is it can begin and you can't defend those assumptions they're arbitrary they are given and only those with a particular IDE IDE ology will accept those assumptions but as I said this was my first real exposure to intersectional feminism and I learned they have a particular hostility and hatred to Snow White just like they really have daggers out for gadriel they really don't like Snow White as well because they think it reinforces negative traditional stereotypes about gender roles and they think that Snow White is subjected to a life of durgery and sub and servitude but like I said also I also got to see the naked underbelly of this ideology because my friend was Korean and her committee members who actually didn't do hardly any work on the committee us readers did all the work but we didn't get a vote on whether she passed or not she passed fortunately she's actually a professor at a pretty nice University but they told her to her face in front of us she can never be a true feminist because she's an Asian woman only white women need apply and if you want to know the were faculty at an Ivy League institution I didn't go to that institution but long story whatever but she was going to that institution at the time these are some pretty influential people so needless to say I have a bit of a negative attitude towards these people based upon personal experience and that's just one of many stories um any rate their hostility is to Snow White cleaning and cooking for the dwarves demeans it demeans her as a woman it demeans her feminine power it diminishes her feminine power but it misses the point completely misses the point let me uh let me see if I can find it can I okay yeah I might be able to do this um and in my video um the you don't realize how low resol solution old stuff was until you tried to digitize it um yeah here we go you yeah you don't realize how low resolution something is until you try to D digitize it and you realize it's kind of blurry so um this is going to be if I can find it okay it was right here okay here we go okay okay so I can let's see if I can yeah share screen okay okay yep here we go I'm going to go with this one because that way it won't be so blurry and uh hopefully you all have seen um the old classic um Snow White and some doors um so any right okay way jumped way let's see jumped way yeah okay here here we go okay we'll go with this one for to start with Snow White's almost murdered by her evil stepmother the queen we all know the story um the Forester you know for the queen tells the Forester take her out in the woods slid her throat come back let me know the job's done oh let me back up a minute sorry I'm jumping ahead let me back up a minute and not just literally in my chair um Snow White you you have a story about beauty one of the core themes of the story is Beauty and you have an older beautiful woman and a younger beautiful woman and these two women we'll get into this here in a minute um we talk about uh Beauty and likability you have two women one who's just beginning to come into the peak of her beauty and the other one who's beginning to have her beauty fade and these two women are world class these are like these are the two most beautiful women in the Kingdom and possibly that anybody never knows knows about in the known world and so you have the story about feminine jealousy and feminine innocence impurity feminine nurturing as was pointed out in the comments um I didn't go to it in my video because again you kind of got to limit your scope um make your design decisions and I talked about how Snow White is about the nurt the Innocence Purity and nurturing nature of of feminine power was pointed out that the queen represents the corruption of feminine power jealousy and resentment use of proxy violence so you're already setting up this Dynamic of battling two types of battling feminine power corrupted power and uh the idealized power good and good and evil except in this story instead of the hero who represents good slaying the dragon represents evil it's about feminine ideals so the evil queen who's jealous puts out a hid on their on their own uh stepdaughter has they're taken out in the woods now this is kind of a side point but that I personally having grown up in the woods um am very aware of and always been aware of watching the story or reading the story we think of the forest today as like a park beautiful nature vacation Recreation like what's the big deal she's the Forester lets her run off into the forest in the Middle Ages forest was Wilderness lot a lot lower population settlements were further apart Forest were you had virgin forest and if you've ever all if you all have ever been into a virgin forest or an old growth forest it's not a park it's a completely different place getting lost in the forest I've been lost in the forest before um I grew up like I said in southern Missouri right next to a national park Ozark Scenic Ozark National Scenic riverways uh Jack for and current river system hundreds of square miles my brother and I would take off and disappear for days at a time in the summertime into the national forest when we were um 123 14 and we would get lost but we were lucky in that we knew you went one way you'd hit the river and then you just follow the river up or down you'll eventually hit a road uh across ing or if you went the other way you'd eventually hit somebody's Farm um but it still sometimes it would take us hours to figure out where we were at get reoriented figure out where we needed to go and even under those circumstances knowing we're not we're lost but we're not really lost and when when you start to get when you're disoriented you get even more disoriented even quicker now fortunately we've been taught you know Woodcraft uh how to travel with the sun and and what have you but still you got lost in the woods in the middle ages nine times out of 10 you weren't coming home SED desence so why would the Forester get his hands get blood on his hands when he could just let her run off come back in a couple days and find a corpse so depending on how you want to look at it Forester wasn't that nice just chicken [ __ ] didn't want to do the job himself but any right she gets fired she loses her princess got gig she loses her job she loses it in a pretty brutal way how does she respond happiness joy and she she's so nurturing and loving that one of the most dangerous things in the forest the animals befriend her and they're the ones see let's see yeah they're the ones that tell her about the house in the forest they're the ones they're the ones that uh tell her of a safe place she can live if it wasn't for the animals she wouldn't have found more than likely she wouldn't have found the seven dwarf's house but there's always a catch she finds a house but somebody lives there so she going to need to get their permission now here's the thing she's a fugitive from the law she has a death warrant on her head the dwarves choosing to help or whoever is going to live here she doesn't know yet who lives there but whoever is going to live here whoever lives here is going to put them is going to go against the government and put themselves at risk by helping her if they get caught they could be facing a death warrant too so she's going to have to sell her butt off she's going to have to really have some sort of sales pitch to convince them that she's worth them risking their lives to help her and if they tell her no they're going to have every incentive in the world to say hit the road and by the way if if the authorities come knocking asking we're going to tell them exactly which direction you went so like I said they have every incentive and if they said tell her no that may may be a death sentence for her this is an All or Nothing proposition it's not like oh well I can go to the next house down the road so we're talk you know she's playing for all the marbles but when she uh no one's home and when she goes in looking around places a sty it's a complete mess what does she choose to do let's see if I can they're kind of I don't want to play it because I don't want to get hit with the copyright there's the image that I'm looking for they keep jumping to the same spot okay where let's see okay well she cleans she takes off her little little Ro uh little Cape jacket gets the broom starts sweeping animals start helping her clean clean up now this is key this is a key thing it it's not what she does that matters it's why she does it she chooses to do it of her own free will she's not um being asked to do it it's not a a condition of it's like a lot of people who defend Snow White's cleaning and cooking in the in the will say it's a quidd proquo you scratch your you scratch my back I scratch yours it's not that because one they were she does it upfront she doesn't do it as a request she does it in advance it's an act of Goodwill but it also shows her mindset she's incredibly mentally flexible she's probably she's a princess she's supposed to be the next Queen she's probably never cleaned or cooked in her life but she understands her life situation has drastically changed in the last couple hours her social status has gone way down she's now at the bottom of the bottom so the first thing she chooses to do is an act of humility is give a gift gives the homeowners what she perceives to be a present she cleans the house washes the dishes and she puts a pot of stew on and then she's tired and goes goes taking takes a nap which is understandable but here's the catch that gift doesn't get her any brownie points they come home and find somebody's been in their house and they ain't happy somebody messed with their stuff they like their dirt they like their cobwebs they like the buildup of the sugar on the edge of their cups Snow White cleaning didn't impress them she heard her cause see the message here is the dwarves are a family but they're missing something in their lives something that they don't even realize that they're missing women women make their Li would make their lives better and it's snow white who convinces them that she will make their lives better and she will make their house a home and how she does that see if I can get okay I can't get the any right there's the scene where their all their noses are peeking over the edge of the beds where they're looking at her she is so kind and sweet loving and nurturing from the moment she wakes up the dwarves turn into little boys she starts mothering them from the moment she encounters them and then here's where the where the story kicks in they go down to dinner she's like oh I cooked dinner they they smelled the food they want the food smells good they go to eat and she says well no no first you got to wash up wash your faces wash your hands now remember they aren't happy they weren't happy that she cleaned up the house and Snow White needs their permission to stay their house their stuff their food they could have said shut your cake CLE and give us the food if you want to stay here they don't they Li yep yep yep we we we we washed up already let's see by lying they're acknowledging her moral authority to make the rules they're acknowledging her moral authority to tell them what to do that she has the right to tell them to go wash their hands and wash their faces before dinner but they've never washed their hands and faces before dinner they don't want to wash their hands and faces before dinner and so like naughty little boys they try to weasel out of it find some sort of loophole and again Snow White reveals her nurturing nature she doesn't say hey you little shits you're lying to me CU she sees through them she knows they're lying to her she says oh when did you wash up like I'm I'm um a while ago she oh a while ago okay then let's see your hands of course they show their hands and they're filthy she's like um no go wash up and they go wash up they go out to wash up let's see if I can get to it let's see oh let's see uh H it's not going to let me because there's a great scene of where Grumpy's like I'm not going to do it he Rebels and again Snow White would you do it for me please and Grumpy's like no and he goes out and he's mocking and ridiculing the other doors yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah you go do it I'm not going to let's see ah ah perfect the dwarves are willing to use violence even against each other to enforce Snow White's moral Authority they mug grumpy beat the crap out of them force them to wash up and then they go and eat but Snow White's mothering doesn't end there the later in the evening there's the let's see okay they sing and dance they break out their musical instruments and sing and dance socialize together have a good time and she makes sure to dance with all the dwarves and then she tucks them in they go up to bed she tells them a bedtime story then they go up to bed and then she prays with them tucks them in puts him to bed within one day she has become their mother and within one day they have accepted her as their mother the cooking and cleaning are irrelevant she could have used any tactic any number of tactics being Nur nurturing I have personally I have two very close uh lady friends uh they um 20 years I've known both of them 20 plus years uh consider them two of my closest friends and I call them uh as far as they're like my adopted big sisters they're older than me and they have why why I view them like sisters like you know like same as blood just by Cho you know Sisters by choice is because they took on very early on when we became friends they they became my sisters the older sister is kind of Quasi motherly very nurturing very caring they have never cooked in my house they've never cleaned my house I've had meals at their houses many of times they don't they've never cooked or cleaned for me but they've always been supportive here I'm having a hard time there were some of the first people to call me say hey how you doing do you need anything can we help you they've often times offered advice some times advice I didn't want to hear but probably needed to hear there there's all sorts of ways you can be nurturing it's just the circumstances that Snow White found herself in the unique situation with the dwarves it just so happened that cooking and cleaning was the particular tactic that she could use to begin nurturing them now I don't mean tactic like is in calculation it's just I mean tactic as in a technique to accomplish a goal and it's when she eats the poison apple falls into basically a coma the dwarves just don't say ah looks like we're going to have have to find another clean another maid ah well it was good while it lasted back to the old life they're distraught it's why they put her in the in the um they build the stuff for her protect her continue to protect her because she's precious to them she's precious to them because of who she is and what she does not cooking and cleaning it's what she what she gives to them of her personality her her her nurturing her love her care it's why the story is H that's why the story is a fair tale it's an ideal it's an abstracted ideal now like I keep saying mess with symbolism you start knocking down those walls um let's see yeah let me close out this one and I want to open is it this one no oh I can bring this up um I will bring this up yeah okay I will bring this one up um because again you know keep talking about um design decisions I didn't bring this one I was going to use this one my video and not talking about it Snow White the message in Snow White is not unique have y all ever heard the film of the film Seven Brides for Seven Brothers Seven Brothers living out in the wilderness they lost their parents at a young age the oldest brother raised the six younger brothers had no contact with women for years oldest brother goes and decides he's old enough he's ready to marry he he he needs to needs to marry goes in town meets a lovely young lady um Millie she falls in love with him they get married she you know s you know heads out he forgets to tell her he has six brothers waiting at home they get home and she is greeted a house full of chaos brothers are getting into fights and house is knocked over and it's a big mess they get into a brawl is my mom would say they were raised in a barn and she cooks the first meal calls them dinner and they just come stampeding in they're stepping on the table they're grabbing food they're eating with their mouths open throwing food at each other acting like complete idiots and she's shocked and appalled and when her husband comes in like you need to talk to your brothers let's see if I can get to it yeah and he's like oh food looks good and he starts acting like them that starts eating and she is not happy and you have the famous scene she throws over the table and storms out and declared from this day forward you will live by my rules or I won't cook for you I won't clean the house for you and the very next day they're following the rules so this whole idea that a woman has the moral Authority particularly in a family because she's the one that nurtures and it's that nurturing that gives her the right to impose the rules because outside of nurturing the family she's she is nurturing culture she's a nurturing civilization she is nurturing men to become civilized is the belief so let's [Music] see okay so we have oh not that [Music] one we have the new trailer now I find it interesting looking at um the trailer that dropped after all the controversy we'll get to that here in a little bit after all the controversy the trailer is doing everything in its power to remind us of the anime you see shot after shot in this trailer like the house now again this is something I'm training to notice um you may or may not have noticed this but this like said it you know uh it's like um it's like a teacher noticing bad grammar I notice houses and buildings in films the house in this and the H the house that they're showing here and the house in the animation are almost identical there are some differences but the overall shape and form the type of house the l-shape Dormer it's the same house they just changed up a few details and you see this over and over and over again in the in the trailer um again the shots of the animals coming in the stairs but then same shot same red coloring of the dwarves crossing the log bridge in the anime you see the same shot here you even have the dwarves roughly in the same order see um I want to get to that there's a see let's see uh let's see yeah if I can get to Ah that's the what I'm looking for okay I'm going to close this okay that's the one I'm looking for okay you have the same shot in the cartoon her looking in the well so they're doing everything in their power to remind you of the C cartoon of the animation so they're saying don't worry don't worry ignore all the noise it's going to be the same story you love it's going to be the same story you you remember but they can't help themselves they got to tell you what they think what what the real game is okay she's going to make the doors clean their own house because you can't have a woman shown to be cleaning cooking 2025 2024 because that demeans a woman demeans her power but he should already see the problem she's still has the same predicament she's a fugitive from the government from the queen she has death warn on her head the dwares help her they're putting their lives at risk why are they going to help her the cooking and cleaning reveal a mindset the cooking allows her to establish her moral Authority when she meets them they wake up she wakes up she starts nurturing them which begins the process but then it SE the deal is sealed when she serves the food the making of the food and giving the food is a manifestation of her nurturing which then gives her the moreal authority to control that food she come she now comes in she going to make them clean make them cook where is she going to get her moral Authority because without the moral Authority are they supposed to help her just because she's a woman why is she going to try to to pay them you help me when I become Queen I'll give you wealth and power well then she just becomes their employer they become Lackey or mercenaries or the hired help a princess buying servants that's not a very good message she becomes a rich brat buying her way out of trouble she has no moral Authority there's no legitimate reason for them to help her they're helping her because the story demands they help her and the message becomes okay now that I've agreed to stay here there's no way I'm living in this type of dump you better clean this place up otherwise I'm out of here a princess telling that to miners living in the forest now you're starting to raise class issues well they should listen to her because she they should obey her because she's of a superior position although she's technically not a princess anymore she's a fugitive from the law but she is of noble blood uhoh so your bloodline your genetics determine your social position you don't know if that's the message y all want to be sending or is it fundamentally changes the story and see let me close this out okay how we doing oh okay I'm not doing too bad um so let's uh hey if you haven't hit the like feel free if you're so inclined um so we're going to real quick talk about beauty um because like I said the story is about two beautiful women world class Beauties least Kingdom class Beauties one at at the Peak beginning to go down and one coming up and so you have to and this is one of those things where suspension of disbelief if you're going to tell the story you have to at least arguably have two women that it could be argued are at least equal beauty that they would be Rivals at the dance for dance Partners there'd be debates if they were the prettiest girl in class but you have to have at least some sort of equivalency for the story to be believable because the the core issue in the story is jealousy and resentment and that the older woman is willing to commit murder or arrange a murder of her own stepdaughter over that jealousy and resentment now there's also a whole sub subtext of who's the rightful Queen is is when Snow White becomes the queen Becomes of age will she become the queen will the queen lose political power all that good stuff so there's that whole argument and debate so there's that element as well but the core issue of the story is jealousy over Beauty and so like I said you have to believe Snow White is beautiful enough that the queen would become jealous to the point of murder well how do you determine Beauty because that becomes the catch and that's the thing beauty is complicated it's complex there are complex elements let me uh I will open this one up sh screen okay okay let me blow this up okay now there is a subjective aspect an objective element to Beauty it's mathematics um I'm not going to go into it uh tonight um check out my video if you're interested um uh Beauty and lack ability uh came out f i put it out first of this week that um basically it's it's based around the golden ratio 1 to 1.6 uh Fibonacci Sequence golden section uh golden rectangle the human body is nothing but golden ratios you find the more you measure everything falls into that and the face is no different you have all of these ratios of fa facial features depth all that is based around the um golden ratio it's a very complex sequence of things but basically what it amounts to is the closer your face mathematically aligns with the golden ratio the more statistically the more number of people will think you have a beautiful face it's the bell curve so everybody has the scale of 1 to 10 you know she's a 10 he's an eight you know he's a four all of us have an objective point on that scale that we fall based upon our facial feat based upon how close we align now there are examples of people um mostly has been studied in women uh because mostly men historically have done the analysis um there are examples of women who are considered to have mathematically perfect faces classic example is Elizabeth Taylor young Elizabeth Taylor International Velvet if if you know classic movies watch that movie her face in that movie is considered to be mathematically perfect uh it's perfectly symmetrical and it falls with uh exactly on the uh um her the formula matches exactly the ideal so she'd be like a 10 plus a young Elizabeth tayl would be like a 10 plus but there's lots of examples um another one a more modern example that um commonly cited is Angelina Jolie right around uh 2000 um Tomb Raider era that she's considered to have like um pretty close to math not she um I would argue she's like just a little like a hair uh behind Elizabeth Taylor Just In in the mathematical side but again we're getting into like literally split hairs here but she's considered a very ideal so everybody falls on that line you know the the the scale but there are other elements that's like the start that's like the base Point that's where you start and all these other factors then come into play as to whether you move up or down that scale now in the past though you know um I've talked about this in other context in other uh shows and videos and I talked about and I didn't go into it in the in the Snow White video I simplified it into it Factor there's actually it Factor kind of breaks down into two parts one to to be considered truly beautiful you have you have to have something unique to you something that makes you stand out from the crowd because there are lots of people men who are handsome women who are beautiful but they become background because they have nothing that pulls them out and part of it is the actual features their actual features they don't have anything that's uniquely them but then the other part of the is it factor is is completely and but it can be something like your eyes like most women can tell you because they they do makeup and they they know their faces very well they can tell you and they will do their makeup to emphasize like their eyes or their strongest feature or their cheekbones or their lips or there's something that they consider their best feature okay that's the thing that's unique to them I always give the example I have a friend who mathematically she's an atypical Beauty mathematically her face just it just doesn't look right it's but she's beautiful because as a whole her face works that's her unique thing is the whole is greater than the some of its part so what makes her stand out that your first was like your fa isn't quite right but it works I like it kind of that's what I'm talking about this that unique thing but then there's the it factor and that this is something we really can't there's no definition that we we know it when we see it but is it Charisma sex appeal force of Personality all that all the above none we don't know we just do know it exists and when somebody has it we know it and again I have um another friend she i' like I said on the scale I'd give her an eight very nice looking lady good face good figure but she's she doesn't dress provocatively or any uh like flashy and her personalities very calm stable she doesn't she's not like FL you know boisterous or draw attention to herself but every time I see her in public it's like she's a magnet everybody just she becomes the center of attention and men and women both are constantly trying to get her attention the way I describe it it's like she's in Vivid bright Rich colors and the rest of it us are just muted pastels you can't miss her in the crowd there's just something about her that you you take a second look and that's the it factor and then we get into and again it Factor can completely overwhelm the score your mathematical score a classic example of this a rockstone s celebrities you know uh but rock stars notoriously I mean Steven Tyler not a good-looking guy I don't think I'm being very controversial in saying that not a good-look guy but he has that it thing and you look at the list of uh women that he's dated over the I mean he produced helped produce Liv Tyler and thank God she didn't get a lot of her jeans from him she's more much more aligned with her mother because her mother's a beautiful lady in her own right he has that it factor that his looks which I think uh I would say your mileage may vary but I would say is very much more on the ugly side of the scale but his Charisma is whatever makes that irrelevant so you can go from a four all the way up to a 10 just by it and likability your your personality is another thing like that because this is this is one of those things um um you hear the beauty standard uh Dr uh Beauty bias that beautiful people um have advantages in life because people um automatically like them trust them that is true but it's a chicken in the egg debate because people that we know that we like we rate their beauty higher we rate their physical attractiveness higher even like somebody like me who part of my training is to be able to evaluate Beauty I have to be very careful if if I'm being asked to evaluate one of my friends I have to be very careful because my bias is there and even when I'm trying to be careful I have to still acknowledge I'm probably being on the generous side somebody who doesn't have that background it's again we know that on average we rate people up or down two points based on whether we like them or not an eight we like could become a 10 an eight we dislike could become a six and because we rate the people we like more attractively we tend to assume Attractive people we like turns out there seems to be a correlation that humans have a built-in correlation it seems between like and beauty and it actually makes sense genetically biologically that this would be the case because beauty is often times a marker of good health and good genes which means Attractive people genetically will make better spouses which this will come back in the discussion when we um when we dislike uh so like I said the the bias is there but so again it's a good to be attractive get you lots of advantages people are willing to like you automatically but there's no free lunches in society in life there's no free lunches that comes with a major caveat because we are willing to like somebody because they're beautiful we're willing to give give that without them earning it if they say or do anything that we find offensive that violates that like that violates that trust we take it personal we take it as if a personal friend betrayed us so our hostility will be equivalent to the free like classic classic example of this captained a couple years ago everybody's favorite Amber herd she was given a great deal the benefit of the doubt and I'm not talking about the merits of the case because that's a whole another topic but people gave her the benefit of the doubt but when certain things came to light that she said the hostility because the perception was she was using that like that gift of like that she hadn't earned to her advantage and was manipulating People based upon that and once people believe that perception the hostility was equivalent so I keep talking about um old Hollywood and they created that um illusion because they understood their actors were an investment and they needed the public to like them and they couldn't leave it to chance they couldn't leave it to the actors or actresses we've seen the last number of years they will screw that up in a heartbeat they understood La ability meant dollars in their pocket hostility meant no dollars and so they took no chances they created an entire illusionary world where they painted these pictures of these stars as wonderful people and whenever that illusion was broken the hostility was equally intense because Hollywood old Hollywood especially understood you manipulate people's like at your own Peril because if you screw it up bare minimum that particular star their career is done and there's examples y all can probably list examples of stars that that whether no fault of their own or not or however it happened when that Bubble Burst and it was revealed some something that the audience found detestable because you feel it's personal you feel used you feel manipulated and you feel betrayed the dislike so you're willing to on average go up two points you will you will put somebody down two points I have somebody I know who is she is arguably the most physically beautiful person I have ever known personally she uh body fashion model movie star she has movie star looks but she's also one of the most despicable human beings I've ever had The Misfortune of dealing with I'm not going to go into details this is a very disgusting human being she and I have had had um a very public confrontation at one point to where and again I'm kind of being vague one I don't want to call her out publicly and two I've heard last couple years that she had a son and motherhood has changed her and she's a very different person my hostility is such that I don't care to find out personally um as a human being I hope so I hope she's uh changed her ways and become a better human being but she was um going to she tried to take advantage of her her being a very attractive woman and she was going to try to physically assault me in public uh because she was angry at what I had said and I was put in the position to where I realized I was just going to have to put my arms up and take take the butt whooping because I wasn't going to hit her fortunately for me another woman in the room came over and said you put a hand on him and I will mess you up and this woman would have done it and so the girl walked away so needless to say I do not like this person I do not like I said even to the point and I'm that's just one incident that I had with this person and I could lots more to the point to where even if I've heard she's changed her ways I still don't want anything to do with her it should give you a hint of how Despicable this person was like I said she's gorgeous do you think I want to see her I I we're we're like I said she is arguably the most attractive woman I've ever met and I've been very lucky in my life to meet some very beautiful women and she's she's a 10 easy in my book she's a three vile I I do not I do not want to see her like and dislike can R it's almost it Factor can be can completely erase appearance like is almost to that point dislike is almost to that point where we become blind to it on the other bad example on the other end most men fall into this one but husbands and wives both often times you hear one day you notice that your wife has gray hair and you never know this before because at a certain point in a relationship we actually stop seeing the physical person and and see our perception of the person which is not only the appearance but also our feelings towards that person and obviously ideally your spouse should be the person that you like the most in life you're no longer capable of seeing them just based upon their appearance so that at takes it gets to a it has their appearance has to change so much to the point to where you can no long your perception of their appearance can no longer override what what your the the actual physical eyes are seeing that's why you often times when did you get gray hair well I've had gray hair for two or three years now what they literally didn't see it that's how powerful our like and dislike can become I'm emphasizing this because this is a key point Y all probably know where I'm going and then there's personal preference and as far as Beauty goes statistically it's irrelevant mathematically personal preference is irrelevant beauty is beauty doesn't matter if you're talking what part of the world what culture what race what background Beauty's Beauty but personal preference defines the individual and old Hollywood knew this that's why you had all the different movie stars men and women both because they understood no one's one one beauty or handsome would appeal to everyone it's unpredictable it's idiosyncratic what I like versus what you like there's no G there is absolutely no guarantee that we have anything in common even background social group same family there is nothing that predicts that well there is but it's again idiosyncratic what your particular circumstances are if I know your circumstances I know what you've been exposed to so forth I can make some educated guesses but the emphasis is on guess but that's also the thing we know in the last number of years I mean look at the the video um well I'm here so I can get rid of this and let's um uh me open let me go let me open this [Music] um did I save it where is it where is it where is it sorry um no it's not in this folder so that means it is in my other folder so let me okay okay okay ah here we go yep sorry about that I didn't get this picture moved over uh maybe it's my own inherent bias this one Star Wars uh was this uh Outlaw or whatever this new game that came out everybody talking about the model and the the and and I've talked about consistently here on this channel effort to redefine beauty standards and this is an ongoing attempt at that now this argument works because of preference this isn't my cup of tea but maybe other people get into this okay not my place to judge whatever so you can kind of you emphasize the personal preference you completely ignore the objective mathematical biological standards of beauty and insist this is be beautiful people will be okay well preference okay maybe a lot of people find this pretty you know find this beautiful whatever but the issue becomes when you're asking the audience to compare between two and it turns out it turns out you human beings are really good at evaluating between the beauty between two people whether it be male or female because you remember I talked about the marker of beauty uh beauty is a marker of health and good genetics the quality of life of your children may depend upon your ability to evaluate the attractiveness of two people so we're very good at this as a species and when you put two people up there and you say this woman is so beautiful she makes this woman feel threatened you better have you better have two women of close enough Beauty to make that believable because people can judge they're good at it and you can't Gaslight people no no no she's really be yeah right buddy ain't buying what you're selling so we have the new we have the Snow White movie and we have Rachel zegler cast as Snow White and we have gadoo cast as the evil stepmother now let's do okay not this one let's do a little beauty analysis [Music] which one is it okay nope that was the one I just closed there we go let's do a little beauty analysis let me find it okay where is it where is it where is it no no no NOP don't tell me oh I was looking at it maybe ah here we go yeah yeah I have two pictures of galado that saved one I like better so that's one I want to use okay galado is going to portray the evil queen I don't think I'm being very controversial and saying she's I mean I would think she actually is a very good choice as the queen believe she won she in her Heyday U I would still say she's St in her Heyday although why I think she's a good choice for the queen she's at beginning to she's starting to see the end of her Heyday shall we say and I don't think I'm being very controversial in saying she's world class she is um again I don't think she's quite up at Elizabeth Taylor but I would argue she's at least 9.5 maybe 9.8 she's like right below uh world I would argue she's world class um so we're already talking um very high Beauty standard and she has it she has a unique look she has both types of it she has a unique look and she has that it that Charisma whatever I mean she was cast to be Wonder Woman for a reason she has it she has her baggage imagine now to her credit she's acknowledged that was a mistake she shouldn't have done that and that makes her look um little self-absorbed narcissistic and she comes across sometimes as not being the sharpest knife in the drawer but generally speaking she comes off as charming and likable if you could find the topic that she's interested in talking about you'd probably enjoy the conversation so you know she she comes out well on the lack ability I would say at least she bare minimum she's neutral neutral to positive she doesn't hurt she probably I mean she's already high enough ranking that she probably doesn't help but her personality her likability doesn't help her but it doesn't hurt her at all and personal preference you know there's lots of people who you know again statistically um she's going to fall high and that a lot of people will find her attractive and like I said as a as a lady what she's mid late 30s you know you could believe that she's you know that that she could portray somebody that would be becoming insecure about her beauty so now let's talk about Rachel oh nope I don't want that that won't work it's not the one I want yeah let's go with this one okay here we go so Rachel has been cast as Snow White I would argue that she's in ignoring just just uh looking at physical appearance I would argue that she's a solid 8.5 I would say 8 8.5 but again I'm trying to be generous here because where where I'm going so I'm trying to be extremely fair but I would argue you know she has a very nice face very good features mathematically nothing wrong I mean I don't think she it it doesn't go up like super high but again I think for most people 8.5 is pretty good you know it's and to be honest I because again my background I tend to be a little tough um but like I said I I would rate her as an 8.5 so we're already dealing with an attractive woman now we're a point point and a half behind galado but as I said there are other factors that can come into this something that's unique to Rachel I'd say she has it but I would also say she doesn't have it she's not a classic movie star she doesn't have whatever it is that makes you not want to look away that that you know like I said that that thing that makes somebody like their vivid colors in a in a sea of pastels now she could have it in real life and it doesn't translate to film that's why there's there have been great stage actors and actresses who don't who can't become movie stars lots of examples throughout history that they just that that Charisma has to be in person whereas there other people that are kind of in life but whatever happens when the camera is pointed at them when the light bounces off them and bounces into the lens something magical happens and then and there's they just Sparkle she doesn't have that so she's already on her hind foot and then we all know about her interviews All the Things She Said attacking the very film she's in condemning and criticizing the film that created the company that she's now working for remember I talked about much as you're willing to like somebody who's beautiful the hostility is going to be equal and that's why they used to not let I I use the example in my video of Clark Gable by all accounts Clark Gable was not a nice guy and it's also been said was one of the dumbest people to have ever come out of Hollywood there is a story out there that he learned to play the piano not with his hands or feet how would you learn that you had that talent and why would you develop that talent and feel the need to share that Talent with other people again reveals a mindset Clark Gable's Heyday was in the 30s and 40s height of the depression World War II some of the hardest times in American history people suffered a lot economically people struggled on levels that even as difficult as it is today we we don't understand Hollywood not only survived it was their Golden Age part of the reason was they created that illusion around their Stars they understood Their Stars needed to show humility and appreciation for their for the privileged position and life that they lived and so every almost every one of Clark gel's Public appearances were scripted he was allowed to say nothing off the cuff and then they the the photo shoots the the photo we're all PR we're public we're we're you know with him with pets him with his wife him out about town looking fashionable and Dapper was to create that image because they knew if he went Ming off and saying one of the stupid things that apparently he was Notorious for saying in private no one told Ziggler about this and she said things that made her look arrogant self-absorbed smug unappreciative ungrateful people aren't going to put up with it like not interested no thank you so an 8.5 like I said let's just go with on average she down to a 6.5 and then she attacks she directly attacked the public the fans so most people she's below five now we're in the territory it's not believable now and if Ziggler was an 8.5 with Charisma and a boatload of likability it would be believable that even a 10 would feel threatened by that combination or even an 8.5 with no Charisma but a boatload of liability which in of itself becomes its own Charisma its own it Factor so you can get around the lack of it Factor by being so likable it become again Hollywood the Golden Age a lot of so-called movie stars of the era were light on the it Factor but they had lack ability either genuine or manufactured for Hollywood's purposes it didn't matter which one but because zler is missing the it factor and she came out and pissed off the audience the the spreads too wide and then let me uh one last thing um going to go back your video okay yep here we go okay let me share this again okay okay gadoo looks hot I wouldn't mind meeting that Queen you create a situation of where the bad guy becomes who the who the audience roots for and the heroin becomes the villain because if if um gal Embraces this see there ah okay yeah if she goes for it and just does overthe toop campy villain people are going to like her and they're going to bring their hostility towards zagler again you get to the point where you can't separate the artist from the art you already got as I talked about earlier you already got a muddied up message gal's going to become the hero of the film she's going to be who the audience is reading for she's going to be the one that the male audience is going to be panting over so you're going to end up with one of those situations um often talk about interpretation you know you have the um artist interpretation you have the audience's the indivi individual's interpretation and the audience as a Ho's interpretation and all interpretations are legitimate but what's going to happen is you're going to have an out out out war between the audience and the artist in this case Disney over interpretations and you've seen this in the past with um Barbie very clearly had a message very clearly had a intended interpretation but a large percent of the audience saw a very different message in the movie and then you saw the media coming out saying no no no you're not interpreting the movie right this is the right interpretation no you created a movie with enough Miss with enough ambivalence in it that allow the audience to have multiple interpretations and when you have group consensus whole groups of people agreeing that there's a very specific interpretation that the artist did not intend the a the artist e well one the artist could have done it there are lots of examples where the artist does something that is intentionally ambivalent that then very specific group groups of people find very specific meanings in and that that's actually a very powerful thing that an artist can do which is fun but more often than not when that happens the artist screwed up they thought they were saying like rings of power they think they're saying one thing but in reality they're saying something else and sending a completely different message which causes the audience to laugh they're going to have the same thing happen here gal is going to come off looking like a million bucks audience is going to love her and zler the audience is going to end up hating Snow White not what the movie is supposed to be about so and that's the cool thing um one of my interest one of the cool things about um Beauty whether we're talking about a person or art or architecture it can be such a powerful thing you know face that launched sh face that launched a thousand ships excuse me and it influences us on so many different levels talked about in the past Beauty effects our health looking at whether it be a person art object nature it releases chemicals in our brains that make us happy the happier we are the healthier we are it's why we put art in our houses it's why we enjoy looking at Beautiful People whether it be in movies or in real life it has fundamental biological impacts on us but like so much with humans it's complicated it's more than just light photons bouncing off of a surface into our eyeballs you can affect how people perceive your beauty based upon on who you are the way you act and you can screw things up royally based upon who you are and the way you act so I have been talking oh three hours uh but I think I'm going to call it an evening um like I said I work I I worked like crazy today getting my um rings of Power video out um my wife's birthday was today um of course this weekend is memorial um no Labor Day weekend and so I'm going to be lucky enough uh my mom my mom my wife uh uh Works in medical field so she normally has has to work a lot of holidays so she got her birthday off today and then Monday she has off and of course my daughter is out of school on Monday so I'm GNA have a weekend where I'm going to focus on the family um so I'm planning on having my um critique of episode two out Tuesday and then I'm going to try to have uh three done um out either Wednesday or Thursday so I'm ready to go Thursday so next Friday I'll I'll have the new episode that drops um so this next week is going to be lots of rings of power I'm not gonna have time to do anything else um but um yeah but uh I'm I'm here to mock the hell out of it so everybody who's watched and everybody who stopped in tonight I want to thank you all I appreciate it uh your time's valuable so you guys willing to spend it on the Friday night with me um and it looks like that uh um we had
