history wow I was right history of the preseason AP Top 25 Poll does that scare you and Georgia fans that Georgia comes out here as the preseason number one team when not uh not a lot of teams historically have ended up winning the national title when they've been the preseason number one are does that make you feel a little bit nervous or do you look at it um in terms of uh the rivals up north where the Tennessee Volunteers took care of business and won a national title this year as the number one overall seed for the first time uh this Century do you do you embrace it that way do you look at it Tennessee as an example of how you can uh work this to your advantage I'll be honest I and I can say this as as a fan like Kirby you know this is just rat poison you know 101 right here like I'm looking at results not the process here but I'm looking at the alltime number one AP pole rankings and I'm just I keep eyeing this thing and I'm like you know if Georgia can get off to a good start like we can make some serious progress like few years from now Georgia we can be talking top five top six all time in uh week's ranked number one in the eight people so that's what I'm thinking now I just want I just want us to get get the respect we deserve but obviously um that doesn't really matter all that really matters is is where you're ranked and what did you say Texas uh was Texas preseason number one or USC was that year oh USC was the last one to do it right 04 and then 04 USC and then one other team right 2017 Bama I think those were the only two in the last right like 20 years so obviously history's working against you but I mean what can you do you don't want to you don't want to be not be number one right I think Georgia fans are past that point of like oh man we want to be underdogs because we're always better when we're The Underdogs like I was definitely one of those fans a few years ago I don't want I don't want the national respect don't don't talk about us let us go under the radar it feel it felt like Georgia was always better when they weren't the favorite team um that's why Tennessee at number 15's great like that's the best spot I think for Tennessee you don't want to be in that preseason top 10 like high expectations before niik play the regular season snap like 15 is perfect for Tennessee like right there in the middle you're kind of overlooked you're not like that's exactly where you want to be I think that's a great rating for Tennessee is out of the gate 15 right great rating for like season expectations too like if Tennessee misses the playoff but they finish ranked 11th in the AP poll but there's a couple conference Champs that like jump in there and in front of them it's like that was not you didn't underachieve but if you're preseason like six seventh which I think some people were kind of hinting at a few months back like they might be uh that high I feel like you saw them like the the way too early rankings and stuff people are just afraid to they just don't like it's just so funny like I I had a whole I wrote about this where people and I think we talked about in this podcast but it's just funny to me how many people I've talked to you on the record off the Record about like Nico is legit I mean Philip fmer was on uh radio here yesterday I was just like he's the dude and I'm just like everyone who watches him everyone who just knows hypo's offense and knows Our receiver room knows what the schedule looks like and knows what Nico is capable of it's like he's special man he's different it's like all right then make a make a bold move put Tennessee in the playoff then put Tennessee as like an 11 10- win team like put n like if Nico is that guy then hey it's going to be a special two years uh on Rocky toop like you can't have one without the other I just think it's kind of funny because I think what a lot of people are going to do if Nico starts off hot out of the gate here and he looks like a type they're like well I mean I thought I knew it was possible that we were just we we just needed to see it that's why we had him at 15 we just needed to we needed to see it but now they're somewhere in that top five top seven uh range with this offense and that the number one defensive line in the country like now we're now we're talking here this is we just had to see it but a lot of people are going to do though we had to just see it and I'm like all right all right which I mean is fair these are preseason rankings so it's a lot about projections so it's like you think that's what's going to happen then then just people love Nico and then they're like but I don't know Tennessee's like I'm like all right all right I think people do also like kind of include the the schedule when they they kind of do these rankings sometimes kind of like count it double it's like oh well Tennessee you know SEC is tough so they might be a top 10 team but I don't know can you R youread of Clemson and like I saw Utah up there at number 12 that was that was a little surprising but it's almost feels like they're the best team in the Big 12 so they put them that High um but Florida State at what it 10 yeah I mean Clemson annoys me I mean Tennessee beat Clemson I think Tennessee would beat Clemson on a neutral site on a home like it's just one of those years ago though right I'm just saying neutral site I think they'd be favored I think Tennessee would be 145 it's a tossup it's just they recruit the same area Tennessee beat it like there's just something there it it's a weird not rival but kind of rival um and I think Tennessee is kind of like the rise of Tennessee actually really directly hurts Clemson more than anybody because of Tennessee just going into North Carolina and getting the best players out of North Carolina now they're going to South Carolina sometimes like they just kind of recruit the same area so for Tennessee to be back I think really actually hurts Clemson more than anybody is this is this a message board topic uh among Tennessee fans of like being the next clim because I've heard you say this a lot and then I've seen on social media I saw some guy talking about uh who is henden hooker is the Taj Boyd and then Nico is the Deshawn Watson and then whoever the next guy is is the Trevor Lawrence whoever just committed uh raon Brandon the number one player overall and I'm like guys let's take let's let Nico Play One Snap before obviously he played the Iowa game let's let him be the starter before we uh start call pencil to call these guys the Shawn Watson and Trevor Lawrence they you guys are just going to re uh just redo what what what Clemson did in the 2010s it's easy peasy man especially in the SEC something it's pretty simple I could see uh that easy Dynasty uh that Clemson built yeah that's that's going to happen with but I guess is that what Tennessee fans think like they can they just start to recruit that footprint that Clemson was getting and for some reason they're going to choose Tennessee over Clemson I mean it's already happening and I mean it's happened Tennessee's winning big battles over Clemson and um yeah no it's already happening in um another one might be this Saturday with David Sanders the festar number two overall player in the 2025 class like he's right there out of Charlotte um and uh that was somebody Clemson was on early and Clemson's not even in the final four um for him there final three um with Nebraska and Ohio State so yeah no uh that's a big one so we'll see what ultimately happens there but yeah no like Tennessee is going into Clemson territory and and uh Clemson did really well at North Carolina they did well in Georgia and during those early Dabo years I mean Trevor Lawrence like grew up at Tennessee fan like he's in that Tennessee Jersey and he wound up at uh Cartersville which is a Stones Throw from the Tennessee Border basically and he ended up at Clemson so yeah no I think there is a lot of crossover there and I think um Tennessee being back uh directly hits Clemson more than anybody in the in the sport I could see it and just recing Metro Atlanta like by by itself like that's a that's a big part of what Clemson was building um do you feel okay about the wide receiver debt now that ra Thomas is officially no longer on the Georgia roster Matt Green are you a little bit anxious are you a little bit like it's okay like still tight end heavy offense the early reports out of fall camp for Georgia is that the running back room um is loaded with the Robinsons And etn and Nate Frasier as a true freshman like they're going to have some dudes and then obviously Dylan Bell being as versatile as he is like you still brought in Colby young for that position like
