[Applause] [Music] is a j hello um I was saying with regards to portraying llo Toth uh firstly it's it's a beautifully written and constructed character on the page um but it is one that I felt immediate uh kinship and understanding for and and that I was Adept to play um uh some of you may know my mother's work my mother's Sylvia plah she's a wonderful photographer she's a New York photographer but she's also a Hungarian immigrant who fled Hungary uh in 1956 during the Hungarian Revolution and was a refugee and immigrated to the United States and much like llo started again and lost her home and and um pursued a dream of being an artist and I understand a great deal about the repercussions of that on her life and her work as an artist which I think is a a wonderful parallel with Loo's uh creations and how they've evolved and how post-war psychology influences your work in in a creative Manner and and all other aspects of your life moving forward and um and it's just such a beautifully thoughtful even though it is fictional it feels very real and very real to me and that's so important for for me to to embody a character and make him real and for a film like this to uh not only represent the past but remind us of the past and how so many things in our present are um we must learn from um anyone else was inspired by paintings music or Brady shares a lot of his inspiration as you can tell he's he's really very generous with that whether it's intentionally to help our process as actors or just his own enthusiasm and excitement for it and um you know aside from beautiful paintings or photographs that really uh speak to the the the time and space he would sometimes share um a still or um a screen grab essentially of the film when he was looking at daes and they were like wonderful paintings of another era and um and also just to immerse myself personally in an understanding a deeper understanding of the the complexities of of architectural design and architecture as an art form and again how past trauma influences an artist and how our experiences in life continue to inform our work like they do for me as an actor and as a man and as I grow and as I'm able to impart my own journey and the journeys of others and the loss of others uh around me into the characters that I inhabit uh there is this beautiful parallel of all of it and all different mediums feeding into one another and and Brady is very correct that in so much of my my character's ambition and fighting through all the suffering to create something indelible is the Journey of a filmmaker trying to make something indelible in with all the obstacles that we have uh in this creative medium and I try to Champion that in my own work in support of his work in support of the work that we all aspire to be able to do and as you know you see many films a very few um come true fruition uh quite like this
