Report: LaLiga club open to selling defensive
star on Man United wishlist Barcelona open to selling Manchester United
target Sergino Dest. Barcelona are open to selling right-back Sergino
Dest this summer, according to Diario Sport (h/t Mirror). Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has an
eye on the United States international. Xavi Hernandez is keen on strengthening the
right-hand side of the defence and the Catalans would be willing to cash in on Dest. This is where the Red Devils come in, a side
linked with the 21-year-old. Dest signed for the Blaugrana in the summer
of 2020 from Ajax. The right-back made his way through the youth
system in Amsterdam. The 21-year-old was given his competitive
debut for the Eredivisie champions by Ten Hag. Barcelona are open to selling Manchester United
target Sergino Dest. In his two seasons at Barcelona, Dest hasn’t
been able to solidify his position in the Spanish giant’s XI. Moreover, the arrival of Xavi has seen the
American’s game time dwindle. United are in need of cover for the right-back
spot. Diogo Dalot is currently the first choice
under Ten Hag. The Portuguese has overtaken Aaron Wan-Bissaka
in the pecking order. The former Crystal Palace star lost his place
in the Red Devils’ starting lineup when Ralf Rangnick was appointed manager. Since then, the 24-year-old hasn’t had many
opportunities. United fans have also grown frustrated with
Wan Bissaka’s lack of quality in the final third. This has seen him fall down the pecking order. Diogo Dalot was preferred over him in the
season opener against Brighton. With Wan Bissaka’s future uncertain, United
are in the market for a full-back. Dest is certainly a compelling option considering
his age and potential. Ten Hag has also previously worked with the
21-year-old. Reinforcements are a necessity considering
the result in the opening game of the Premier League season against Brighton & Hove Albion. We’ve bolstered the defence with Tyrell
Malacia and Lisandro Martinez. But it wouldn’t hurt to bring in additional
quality at the back.
