Does Adding Elijah Badger to the Roster Increase the Gators Win Total this Season?

hey hey Gator Nation welcome back to a new episode of respect our decision pot of the people guys if you're new to this pot of the people is our podcast excuse me that we do every once in a while where you send in the questions to us and we do our best to try to answer them or give our opinion or um you know just try to give a little substance to whatever you may be asking as always I'm your struggling a little bit that's what happens when your wife texts you in the middle of your show and get you all discombobulated you know what the moral of that story is all right man we're gonna jump right into it guys first question Ryan Parker ask which summer en Roy recruit are you most excited about Aaron Charles Amir Jackson or Marcus mcal CJ who are you excited about I I guess I'll take Charles I like Charles I think Charles uh is probably the most ready to go linebacker that we've recruited out of high school in a long long time no that's no [ __ ] against miles Graham miles Graham's a phenomenal athlete I think he's a great you know going to be a great linebacker but as far as just a linebacker that's ready made can go play linebacker right now at a at a really good high level I think Aiden Charles is going to give us that I think this this kid has been slept on for too long I think he's definitely a guy that we're going to be very pleased with when he gets here yeah I'm with you on child um because I think the kid is going to play snaps this season I don't think there's even a a way if he's anything like we all we saw in the allamerican game and then just that kid's all about business um but I will secondary on air Jackson I live right down the road from Portal High School where Amir played I think that young man is really G to be special I think the only thing that hurts him is getting to campus late because he was a little on the thin side and to play tight end obviously at the college game you'd like to see him have a little bit more weight on him for blocking and things like that shrugging off Defenders um but the kid is absolutely incredible with the ball in the air he he he goes up he makes catches he makes amazing plays um so obviously we know at the tight end position we've been a little thin recently on Playmakers I mean um uh excuse me bingham's coming off a uh hernia surgery so you'd be interested to see how that tight end room is going into the fall all right Jed kill ask thank you Jed as always for your questions what should the starting offense be comef fall how much do you think they'll rotate now Jed I'm not sure if you mean the offensive line in this question or the offense in general um I know we talked about receivers and I spoke about it in the badger commitment video that I thought the starting wide receivers would be Badger Trey and um um Shamir dek shimay DK um running back obviously Montreal quarterback we know who that is offensive line I'm guessing um Barber uh always forget who whose left guard's going to be even though my head I know who it should be um Slaughter's obviously your set in center and at at right tackle crenchaw Dixon the two guards I think is is one of those things it's going to have to be decided as as Camp goes on um wide receiver I think you'll see some rotation there at running back you know you're going to see rotation Trey Webb's going to get carries I think Ball's too good to keep off the field so I mean I don't I might be missing somebody in there but I I think that's pretty much a starter CJ you agree yeah yeah I think that um your guard spots are probably I think Naji Harris is probably gonna get one thank you um and I think I think Damen George is probably going to start this season at guard not to say he'll finish it there um heard a lot of love about Bryce love it Bryce love it uh you you you got uh Roger Kerney um and you've got um now zanda I understand he's a freshman but you know based on what we saw last year from guard play if you can come in and do service will you know I I don't really care what year you're you're coming in from I don't care if you're a freshman a sophomore junior senior whatever uh as long as you're not getting run over at the guard spot I I'll take it um so we'll see I think they just going to be battle for that that Right Guard spot all right Lucas man anyone on Commit watch heading into official visit season that you're hearing um I think uh CJ Ingram is probably the most likely right now um I you know we've continued to hear that he could commit probably at any time um and I'm gonna throw you a sleeper here don't sleep on reell Brown being a Gator by the end of June that that's my take CJ anyone else that I'm missing he dropped a top six today the defensive tackle out of Newberry jarquez Carter yes I I've heard that he's a he's a possible addition um you know I don't really have a timeline on that and that could change tomorrow but he's he's another name that I've I've heard maybe all right next question thank you Lucas as always for your questions you always send in questions every time Corinthian Perry ask how do you feel about the defensive tackle rotation this fall CJ how do you feel about that it's a lot better than it was I will tell you this we've got two of the top 10 uh returning defensive tackles in the SEC as far as production according to PFF if you put any stock into that uh so there's that uh you know I I'm curious to see what they do um you know you really I wish that Dez could just play consistently uh he had a really down Year from what I was expecting for him last year of course Cameron Jackson seems like your your guy and and right there playing that defensive tackle spot I'm curious to see what they do um as far as rotation go who who they put in these spots you know I'm not really sure we got a lot of guys that I feel like are just kind of they're not really Edge guys but do you really want them to play inside you know it's it's going to be yeah you've heard you've heard so much about like I know Lions is in there and and lions has showed flashes you got Caleb Banks um in the middle Kelby Collins they said they're moving inside you've heard rumbles he's moving inside right we'll see what they end up doing like I said you've got a lot of guys that like I said aren't really Edge rushers but do you really want to play defensive tackle and not saying they can't grow into that but it's going to take a little while like I said thankfully for us Cameron Jackson came back for another season because without him we'd be really really lost um you know you would talk about Barrow but ha um you know he's not gonna have a chance to really see any any snaps at defensive tackle now so uh that's one name off the list unfor if he's even part of the team by the time this recording even comes out yeah I mean you know this is Wednesday liking to happen by the time this drops all right Corinthian Perry had one more question he said random offseason question this is one of those real Wild hypotheticals what is your opinion on what if Herm Edwards was hired as an offensive analyst specifically to assist offensive skill position Talent uh Corin I that would be awesome it's not gonna happen but I just yeah here's the thing you got to say about things like that I just don't see any person worth their s right now taking a position like that on this staff until they're sure this staff is going to be still employed come December and and that's the that's the corner you back yourself into when you don't have a winning record going into year three at the University of Florida now you're at a POS you know you're a point where you have to take some flyers on some guys and whatnot you established coaches are like H not right now I'm not getting up moving my whole family gville to be packing boxes again come December yeah you look at your offensive analyst that we have hired you know you've got enus from Arkansas um you know people aren't super excited that's kind of what you got right now her would be awesome as an analyst that was a great pickup and about that when it was made I mean this he's not calling plays he's not doing anything he's breaking down film and saying there's a weakness you can run this here and exploit that weakness in the defense oh cool we'll put that in the play chart you know right all right Justin wood has his usual uh assortment of questions here Justin thank you as always for sending your questions man you're pretty much the lifeblood of us doing this show by giving us enough questions to to get a full uh episode out of first question what are you guys feeling on the season now that we landed Badger whenn loss wise do you guys feel better or Worse well I mean I'm going to go ahead and tell you right now I feel a ton better about the offense Landing Badger I I did a whole video talking about that um you you've absolutely increased your chances of the defense having to focus on a receiver other than Trey Wilson every single play thus taking the pressure off of him and opening up the whole field I really feel like the inclusion of badger if if 100% healthy has has really opened up whole offense like you you have so much more out there now you can do now does that give you any more wins I can't really answer that I really felt like the wins were already there to be had I now in a close game I think that absolutely helps make a difference but I'm not sure it increases the win column or not because other than what you already had out there I don't think you're beating ug or Texas because of Elijah Bader being added to the team CJ you agree I I yeah I'm with you I I think again I'm still at seven and five um you know just a tough schedule if we get seven and five I'll be really really happy um Elijah Badger it helps that you know I kind of talked about when we recruited Justice Ross Simmons as a guy that I'm like I don't think he adds any wins to you I feel like Badger is a better receiver he's the one I preferred um that we got I I think he could help you add a win I think he's the kind of guy if you get into a close game you've got an option and then that could be not even him catching the ball just making sure that you have an opportunity to get Trey Wilson the ball now um but so I'm you know I feel better you know absolutely I feel like it it helps it's a positive um as far as win total I don't see like jumping up from where I am with the seven and five I think that's kind of I'm stuck there until I see something else and don't don't sleep on badger being a big help on special teams as well I think I think you're definitely going to see him in the return game and that also helps obviously we've been looking for a Steady Eddy return guy for a while and if you only have him for a season that's fine as long as it provides you the spark he averaged almost 30 yards of return on kickoffs last season that's a big deal all right next question from Justin what are you guys feeling about this year's recruiting class do you think we finish top 10 Justin this this is a almost impossible question to answer right now just because it all hinges on the season if you can't predict the season with confidence you almost can't com you know predict the recruiting class with confidence and I hate to sound kind of like non-committal to your question but I can't sit here and say yeah we'll be top 10 but I can't and and say with a straight face but we're going to win eight and we're going to win eight games because it might take winning eight games to be a top 10 class CJ you agree with that I yeah yeah I I think that this this this recruiting class is just really gonna hinge on what we do on the field um you know whether what whatever happens and I'm not even talking about like the status of Billy naier being the coach I'm just saying you know these these kids I I when you first get to the program I think it's easier to sell a vision but once you've been there for a couple years and you don't really have a bunch of wins in the win column then I think wins and losses really start to really matter in recruiting uh because your vision is kind of like okay well we've seen what you're trying to do and we're not really sold on it so yeah we'll see what Florida does if they win you know you're gonna have to win a few games um I think that confidently right now I I think we end up with a top 15 recruiting class I'm not ready to go to top 10 but I think that Billy Napier has proven his salt as a recruiter I think he's done a very good job uh recruiting through all the ups and downs and twist and turns as a a pure recruiter I don't feel like Billy dapier is going to recruit a bad class now let me reverse this a little bit if you're at the back end of the season and you've got six seven wins in pocket and you land an upset on one of those teams a Texas a Old Miss um I don't want to call LSU or FSU upsets right now because we don't know what either one of those teams are going to bring to the table with new quarterbacks and and a lot of upheaval in there but if you can land an upset say over old mess at home in a big atmosphere and then you get to a bowl game and you win that and you're sitting there looking at an eight and eight and five or whatever have you I think absolutely you're a top you could be a top 10 class you're going to see a lot of people saying okay I see the vision see the Improvement and I know DJ lagu is about to take the Reigns of that team and then I think you're absolutely looking at at a chance to to Really break out all right next question who are you guys looking forward to most seeing play on this season on offense or defense um I I mean Trey Wilson is the easy answer I mean because I think a healthy Trey Wilson All Season being the focus of the offense it could put up I Percy like you know kind of impressive numbers um defensively I'm gonna tell you right now I think jaem Jackson might be that guy this year that nobody's really talking about yet but if Devon Moore doesn't show the ability to stay healthy jain's gonna play regardless but I think if he plays a lot he's going to have that goris J early in his career kind of holy hell this guy is the real deal CJ yeah no I I think yeah Trey is definitely the easy answer I I'll go with um I I'll go with with with graham I want to see Graham play I'm you know Graham only got better um that last stretch of games the last six games he played the season is 14 touchdowns one interception insane percentage you know completion percentage to a good job um now I think you know he's got you know you've got a second year in the system um you've got some really good weapons now with Badger and and uh Trey should be a better offensive line and it would should be a better offensive line you've got Chimay DK who's like that that old hat um you know just guy that you know just you work with um so I I think that I think that that's one guy you know I love Graham I think Graham is probably one of the my favorite quarterbacks we've ever had um so you know him definitely and then on defense um I want to see I want to see Shamar James um you know bounce back from that injury what's he going to do again another guy who's been a really really good linebacker for us um and and we haven't had a whole lot of really good linebacker play um you know we saw last year the season took a nose dive without him um I think he really showed how much he's worth to the defense um you know and now he'll have three guys that are young and hungry that are going to play around him um which he really hasn't had you know you've had a lot of the the old veterans and you've had some of the guys to just kind of fill a gap from the time being um I think now that he's he's got those kind of guys around him I think he's going to be more energized and and more ready to play than he has since he got here and he's got better guys in front and behind him than he's had as well I don't think you can say enough about that we've talked about it a lot about having leaders and and good tacklers at all three levels um I think having like ASA behind him and like you said a returning cam Jackson and Company in front of him I don't think he's gonna feel as pressured to have to do everything like he did at the beginning of last season like you could just see that dude was beat by the end of games because he just everything La just was on him he was having to run from sideline to sideline every play it seemed like and maybe this year with improved focus on tackling and better sen you know one year older leadership on the defense maybe he won't have to do so much of that all right last question from Justin Woods who do you guys think is a sleeper recruit that is interested in Florida that we may land out of the blue kind of like Chad Gasper for example uh Justin I really don't have a name for you to be very honest with you um and I usually we would but man recruiting this year with Florida like I said so much hinges on win losses and stuff like that and I haven't really heard i' had heard a little bit about Chad Gasper I really didn't think at that time we'd take that commitment um but we did um so out of the blue guys I don't think there's going to be anyone really out of the blue that you haven't heard of right now I I just don't I think most of the guys are going to be pretty straight especially heading into the month of June I think most of the guys are going to be pretty much right there in front of your face they're going to visit they're going to commit shortly thereafter by the end of the month much like we've seen the last two seasons and then everything else is going to play out into the season and how how they look during the season I just I wish I had a random out of my back pocket name but I don't all right last last few questions of the show from Ryan Garren two of these are wrestling questions guys so if you don't like the wrestling questions I saved them to the end of the show we mix in a little wrestling questions on our pot of the people because we're big wrestling questions I'm going to start with Ryan's football question first and then I'm going to ask the two wrestling questions do you see Andy Jean cracking the starting lineup this year if he gets healthy no I don't unless somebody else gets hurt at this point with the addition of badger most likely not now any one of those three guys could get hurt and knock knock on wood they don't and Andy Jean could come into fall camp and be lights out but right now you've got two veterans and an absolute electric playmaker and I don't know right now unless DK just isn't as reliable to Graham as we kind of believe he's going to be and that would be the guy that that would be where he slotted in because you're not paying Badger to come in for one season not the start so I just I don't CJ do you do you disag I'm in the same boat I think that again if there's going to be a guy you can unseat in the line in the the wide receiver room it's probably Shamari DK um I think he's the probably the one guy that you could look at and say well you know Chimay isn't um isn't living up to what we expected and and that's you know I don't believe that'll happen I think that him and Graham have a good enough connection I think you know the spring game was the spring game and don't read too much into that um but I think that you will see um Andy Jean and a misel definitely play um I don't know about start and starting is a weird weird thing now especially when you're talking wide receivers because you still got to make room for guys like khil Jackson uh to play you got Burke you know frasers and you've got miselle and Jean so those are those guys I expect all of those guys to get some playing time because you know other wide receivers especially guy like Badger who has some injury concerns you don't want him out there killing himself so I think that those guys will definitely get some get some burn um but starting like I said is just a weird weird thing you know what actually is starting you know we saw guys last year who started but didn't play most of the game so we'll see what Happ oh I mean we you know we've saw Trey come in and then not seen him for two quarters I mean I don't think that's going to be so much I think they were protecting Trey more last year he was he'd come off a shoulder injury then he got hurt again um I mean you had you can have your own opinion of how that was handled I mean I I disagreed with some of it but I'm not a coaching I'm not paid to be a coach obviously as I'm sitting here talking to you guys and making my own opinion about this I as a true freshman I do think he was protected a lot uh get him in the weight room bulk him up a little bit now come out this year and he's you know foot down on the gas pedal but yeah I I just don't see Andy Jean starting this year unless like we both said DK just doesn't live up to any of the expectation but Wilder things have happened I mean we could absolutely be wrong all right the wrestling questions are about to begin so if you're jumping off the ship go Gators we love you guys catch you next week but here we go question one Macho Man better heel or baby face that's tough because I go heel all day I I think that Macho like being a heel I think most wrestlers enjoy all wrestlers want to be being a he say it's easier but man I loved Macho Man as a baby F Macho Man's in my top three I love Macho Man Randy Savage um 13 years since he passed this week by the way I mean Macho Man was great uh you know and I could even when Macho Man was a heel he still felt like a face to me because I like Macho Man Randy Savage so much like the Macho King stuff and all that you know uh the late WCW days even when he was supposed to be a heel it was kind of just like Ah that's just Macho Man being Macho Man you know like I think that that that's a lot of it to me except in his in his Feud with DDP which pretty much made DDP who he was was that seven eight Monon Feud where he was absolutely the bad guy um but no I I loved Macho when he when he broke up the the you know the when he had the feud with Hogan and was losing his mind over Elizabeth and all of that stuff man I I love that side of Macho Man I I the crazy side of Macho was just but his character you could he was that anti heel anyway everybody loved Macho for one reason or another all right question number two and the last question of the show taking the money off the equation are out of the equation in this aspect best overall wrestling promotion in the 1980s WWF or Jim Crockett promotions and why I'm I mean I'm from from South I'm from South Georgia and you know we're people today still talk about 605 Saturday watching Jim Crockett promotions Dusty rhods is King here still uh Ric Flair you know if if I go back and watch one I'm watching Jim Crockett promotions I'm watching Magnum TA and and you know Nita Koff and and those guys so I mean I get why people love the WWF in the 80s and I didn't grow up then so everything that I've seen has been post and it would be what my father liked and what my grandfather W liked because you know that was so that's what I watched um you know like I I had a VHS tape of the 86 bash and I watched that thing till it fell apart um you know I watched watched Dusty and Flair Dusty and Flair in the cage watched dusy and Flair in the cage for the belt you know uh Ron Garvin man with the hands of stones versus Jimmy Garvin um you know that that's what I what I grew up watching you know so when so when I you know talk about 80s wrestling I love the the southern gy Crockett promotions um midatlantic stuff I I love the the 605 baby doll and the full Horseman and you know I I would rather watch that but like I said if you're you know if you didn't grow up with that if you grew up with Hulk Hogan and uh the Ultimate Warrior and you know you know like we said Macho Man Randy Savage and those guys I totally get that but for me if I'm G to go back and I'm gonna watch one I'm watching I'm watching that NWA Midnight Express rock and roll Express all day long that Jim Crockett promotion stuff was just was my favorite I love watching the promos and Tony shobani uh standing there and then get pistol pz whle and uh you just just that stuff was was great that was that's probably my favorite I'm a South Georgia Boy as well and we all know this I mean if my acccident didn't give it away I don't know what does um I grew up born in the in the late 70s grew up in in the 80s watching everything the reason I think WWF is more important is because I'm not sure you even have wrestling today without it um if you lived in small towns in Georgia and all across you know about all about the territories and all of that yeah you loved wrestling you'd go see wrestling but Vince McMahon for all his faults had the foresight to say we've got to go put this on cable put it out there national television and get all these big stars together and and put them in front of people and then you took that next step and you had WrestleMania and you started the pay-per-views and things like that um and it got the national exposure and then you you had the cartoons and you had Cindy lot and you brought in the celebrities and all of that and it went so mainstream and just triple quadrupled your fan base overnight because of that and I don't think and then obviously going into the early 90s you kind of ran that ship of ground but WCW was there to kind of pick it up and give you a boost but there is no I don't think you would have had WCW and the flamboyancy and a lot of the stuff that came with it without you know competition breeds obviously excellence and it there's always going to be a competitor but if I don't think if WWF in the 80s hadn't come along when it did and did what it did I'm not sure you still you see wrestling the way it is today I'm not saying there wouldn't be wrestling obviously it's it's a century old it's wrestling would still be around but I'm not sure you'd have the global phenomenon that WWF is now or WWE God I'm I might get sued if somebody hears me saying that wild World Wildlife federation's going to come out of nowhere with a lawsuit on me um it it's just now you know it's just oh so and you have the AWS and you have New Japan and you have everything El and you had Ring of Honor you had ECW all those people came along to compete with what ww F and then WWE was and to give these other wrestlers a job that were floating around out there the dusty roads of the world that you know had kind of got past long in the tooth but still was a name would still draw money would still you know sell tickets I think we just owe so much more than we understand to what WWF brought to the table in the 80s as far as the mainstream eyeballs that came that fell on wrestling and how many people like myself still love it today because because of that obviously but um what if Magnum TA doesn't get hurt that's a good question Magnum TA was that dude Magnum TA was the Hulk Hogan and was and was set to have a a great Championship I always go back to that if magum ta doesn't get hurt that is an alltime wrestling what ifim what does Jim Crockett promotions do at that point because when he got hurt it just went to its Flare n because we're still years away from sting had sting been around maybe you could kind of push it to sting but man if Magneta doesn't get in that car accident what if the shockmaster doesn't fall through the wall then we don't have a great clip nobody cares about the shockmaster the shockmaster never fell through the wall nobody give a crap about Fred otman poor Fred oh the voice The Voice being OE Anderson is ious to me it's just o and spray painted the spray painted stormtrooper helmet is the best for me because you couldn't tell oh is that a stormtrooper he just oh my God he fell through the wall but that's a great question for a future show the best part of that clip will always be Sid looking at him like what the hell is this Sid Sid's trying to spell it like he tried his best but Sid told him the wall was not told T sit in the background I told you Dave boy Dave he's fell flat on his arms he fell on his arms that's a great question for a future show what is the greatest what if in wrestling history oh my God there's so many and I mean after watching every episode of every season of dark side of the Ring I probably got a million of them but oh man guys we're GNA have to go cuz if we don't this will go on forever and we'll laugh me and CJ
