Caroline congratulations two sets under an hour your thoughts on your performance today I thought it was a good performance um obviously you want to get a good start into the tournament and it's a warm day um playing someone who I've never played before so um that's always tricky but I think I I start off well I served pretty well I got a lot of balls back Tred to um change the direction and I was pleased with the way I played today welome congratulations once again questions in English name and affiliation David Caroline D tennis.com when you came back last year everything was kind of new and you were still like readjusting to everything where do you feel like you're at a year into this comeback well I feel good I feel like um obviously I've played for a year now and um you know it's an it's been an adjustment for the body as well you know with with all that but I I feel good I I feel like if I play my best I can beat anyone but obviously if you're not 100% then you can Al lose to anyone so it's all about just resetting for every match and resetting for every point and and then go from there but I feel good right now and I'm happy to to be into the next round biggest challenge in the last 12 months you feel like it's been physical mental like just getting back into the competitive head space I think it's been uh probably physically it's been the biggest challenge something that I'm not used to um in throughout my whole career you know I've had thankfully very limited injuries and uh been pretty healthy throughout but you you know coming back and and just putting your body through that extra pressure and extra um stuff is is definitely not easy and and also you know when you have kids you have a lot less time for for everything else and so so that's been that's been a hard part but something I've also learned a lot and I think I've I've just really enjoyed being out on Court and playing really hi Caroline how would you compare the quality of your game right now and your enjoy of it with the whole time during your comeback well I always love playing at the US Open I think there's some tournaments throughout the year that I enjoy a lot more than others and this is one of the tournaments where I love coming back I love playing in front of a big crowd I um I love New York in general and I think that shows in my past results here um so my enjoyment is is great and I always feel like I I bring some of my best tennis here in New York so hopefully I can continue to do that and from match to match it's obviously different but but I feel good I'm very happy to be to be here and how does the way you're playing now compare with your expectations when you began your comeback um I mean I think I'm playing I'm playing well I think if my body holds up I I can plan a very high level so you know it's my expectation going into this comeback was to give it my all and work hard and and play my hardest every single match and I feel like I've done that and and so I'm really proud of that and you know some matches you play better some matches you you play a little worse but at the end of the day if I give it maximum effort that's all I can ask for David good how is your family and your kids adjusted to sort of Life One ter I think Olivia was like ready to enter the US Open last year so where is she at with it and everything uh they absolutely love it I mean I bring them everywhere and I think it's such a great life experience for them even though they're so young they don't know any better this is this is their life you know traveling everywhere meeting new people seeing new places and I think they become really open kids from that and they adjust so well to a new bed a new hotel room and um we came here uh this year and Olivia walks into her room she goes wow this is a nice house we have here I go yeah don't get too used to this and she goes well this is mine now and she like runs in and she's so thrilled so it's just fun to see the world through her and and James's eyes and it's nice to see how easy they adjust to everything and it's it's been a real joy to to bring them and have them obviously you know being a mom is also a full-time job so you know right now juggling both is is not always easy but it's something that I'm I'm so proud of and so happy to to be able to do anything else in English one more David one more yeah I don't think you got a chance to play last fall after the open I maybe because of injury are you planning to play maybe a fuller schedule after the open um honestly I don't know what my plans are after the open um right now um my initial thought is I'm probably not going to play after but I don't know I I don't have a a final say again wherever I travel I'm going to go with the kids and I also have to see what's best for for the family and my and myself that's for this year or in general for this year for now yeah so we'll again I I don't know what the future brings but uh but for now I'm focusing on here and then I'm going to make the next uh decisions then okay okay thank you
