Jackson State @ UL Monroe

at 7:00 we got Jackson State who went 7even and four last year traveling to UL Monroe who went 2 and 10 U Monroe fed by 7 A2 on ESPN plus G Wright uh went 107 to 204 for them last year through for 1,246 yards 10 touchdowns to eight interceptions Hunter Smith had 94 carries for 507 yards and three touchdowns and Tyrone Howell had 49 catches for 590 yards and seven touchdowns uh the only one of those three that the uan row brings back is Hunter Smith um so I think it would be fair to say y Monroe had a bad year last year um they've been having some bad years the past couple times actually they not been a good team in a while now um maybe General booty fixes that which is by the way I'd like to point out a phenomenal name I think everyone will can't admit that just a great name great whoever named him they deserve an award cuz it's an amazing name um but I mean he transfers from Oklahoma obviously he was a good enough quarterback Oklahoma wanted to recruit him he's going to a UL M program that has been struggling over the past couple years again a four- win season would be kind of a win for this U Monro program they're not great um I think what's really going to be interesting is this game could actually be close right cuz Jackson state is not a bad FCS Squad this was an FCS Squad that under Deion Sanders had a reputation of being really good and now Deion Sanders has gone this is still a decent Jackson State program they went 7 and4 without him last year um so I think is could be weirdly close U Monroe is a bad program they have been for a little bit now I think if that they don't have a decent year this year their head coach is gone Yan Rose in an interesting situation where they need to win um at least some games this year this is at least an opportunity to win a game at the beginning of the Season against Jackson State it doesn't get easier from here it only gets harder you're playing in a tough conf in the Sun Belt there are a lot of teams that think that they can push for that playoff spot you're talking about teams like atate and James Madison um and there's a lot of teams that are in between there like arkans State saw state is a pretty good football team Georgia State and Georgia Southern are always competitive that's not even mentioning Troy who's been the bell of the ball for the past couple years's Coast to Carolina which is solid unspectacular at this point um that's to mentioned South Alabama which has been good in recent years Texas state which had a really good last year um there's a lot of team good teams in the Sun Belt it only gets harder from here it only gets more difficult so if you're U Monroe you got to pick up this win I think Jackson State can keep it close but I think in the end you Monroe is going to end up covering the S and a half point spread [Applause] [Music]
