week nights 6:30 to 8 on ESPN 1000 all right abdala let's talk about this on espn.com Aaron shots has an article up talking about the final moves for all 32 NFL teams before they head to training camp so they go through every single team the National Football League we're focused on the Chicago Bears Aaron shot suggests that the final move that the Bears need to pull off before they go to Camp is addressing the backup quarterback position what do you think about that well he says that they should sign specifically Ryan tanah Hill who's still on the Shelf he was a starting quarterback for the Titans last year um you would think that the final move should be adding a defensive end you know someone on the opposite side of montz sweat someone to sh up the pass rush all that kind of stuff help out the defense you know it's probably going to be Yi andwe that they end up signing most likely he's still out there he's not garnering the kind of attention that he did last year also they ended up signing him you know towards the start of training camp into training camp last year anyway so it could be a move that they still address addressing the backup quarterback I thought it was crazy at first at first I was like you know what they don't need Ryan tanhill they got Caleb Williams they got Tyson bent he's a perfectly capable quarterback but then when you think about it Chris they have a top 10 defense right at times last year when both Yanik andak and Montes were healthy they were a top five defense in the NFL you signed Keenan Allen you drafted romad dun you have DJ Moore you obviously add Swift you've got Cole KT you have all of these weapons this team is built to win right now and we all expect Caleb Williams to come in and have a decent season they might make the playoffs they might not we kind of expect them to win around nine or 10 games and be a contender for the playoffs I think that I kind of agree with what Aaron Shotz is saying because if for some reason Caleb Williams misses extended period of time Tyson bent isn't good enough to get you to where you want to go because this team is built if this was a team that picked first that was traditionally a first pick type team three wins four wins this is not a move I would make I would completely disagree with Aaron shots and I would say you're crazy they need to add a defensive end but let's say week six week seven Caleb Williams has an injury and misses a significant amount of time if you have Ryan tanah Hill as your backup that's a perfectly competent quarterback that could still get you to the playoffs with the with the players that this team has Pro Football Focus put out an article last week that ranked the Bears wide receiver core fourth in the NFL so if you have players on this team on both sides of the ball that are extremely good and this team is ready to win having a quarterback as competent and as you know tested and has gone through a full season has played in playoff games as Ryan tanah Hill could be a good thing I'm not saying that Caleb Williams is gonna get hurt he's never really had any huge injuries in the past where he's missed significant time he had the slight hamstring while he was at USC but nothing really affected his play but if something were to happen he were to take a bad hit and miss a significant amount of time you know a month two months God forbid the rest of the season when he gets hurt Ryan tanhill could still get you to the playoffs yeah I'm not going to argue that the thing that I would point to is what's the more important timeline that we're worried about Are we more worried and concerned about maximizing the defense and the timeline with what they've already assembled which you said yeah this should be a top 10 defense if not a top five defense a defense that's ready to compete is that timeline more important than the timeline of the quarterback's development and his career progression which timeline is more important because this is why I'm going to disagree with the piece from Aaron shots on espn.com the Bears don't need to sign Ryan tanah Hill they need to sign an additional Edge Rush to be on the opposite side of Mont sweat and and maybe that is Yanik and gque whoever it is they need to make a move before we get to camp and address that position that to me is number one the reason I don't go for tanah Hill is because I don't think that the timeline in the success of this team it's like do or die this season they can win this year they have a chance to win this year I don't think it's the end all Beall that you have to do everything to squeeze out every ounce of they can only win this season and to me it feels like Ryan Tanana Hill coming in is that type of move that you're kind of desperate that it has to hit this year I don't think it's necessarily that I think what happens is if Caleb is great and we're all surprised by his progress in year one then yeah this is a championship opportunity that's in front of us I don't think it's necessarily going to be that I think it's going to be a team that's competing for the wild card it's going to be a successful season as far as past Seasons that we've seen from the Bears it's going to be successful because it will feel as if we have our quarterback for the future so therefore I'm not that concerned if your scenario plays out and God forbid the quarterback goes down for seven eight 12 weeks of the football season to me that just go goes back to it was a wash because the development and the timeline that's more important is the growth of the quarterback and if he gets hurt and we can't really see the growth of Caleb Williams because of an injury then I'm not desperate that you have to win this season and I also think Tyson bent in a stop Gap situation is a perfectly fine backup no he's in a stop Gap situation yes three four games whatever that's fine but to me you're then wasting a year of DJ Moore you're wasting Keenan Allen's year which we only think he's probably going to be here for one year you're wasting Montes sweat for a year you're wasting all of these guys when you could still have a productive season as a team whereas most times and it would be this time like if Caleb Williams comes out week six he gets injured and says he's out for the rest of the year maybe comes back late December early January you're done you're done Tyson be isn't going to be able to get it done for two months two and a half months of the Season he's just not going to we saw last year he was fine for a game or two and then we realized why he's a backup quarterback in the NFL like okay so here here's why I disagree with the piece I don't think you have to go out and get tanhill before camp like if you don't trust Tyson beun can't you it does it feels right now as if tanah Hill is going to be available yeah he's just no no one's going to give him a starting gig it seems as if most teams have their backups locked up so as we enter training camp in the next four weeks when players start to report uh at the end of July I think tan Hill is going to be available he could be so like you could also pull something where kind of Cleveland did last year you know bring in Joe Flaco middle of the Season or you go through the first month of the year and see hey like what if this scenario plays out what if Caleb Williams from day one I know get into the comments you could be a hater and dive in we see you you're a Packers fan whatever you're a Vikings fan uh what if Caleb Williams shows up week one uh four touchdown passes uh 350 yards week two he gives you three touchdown passes you know one interception but like from the jump it looks like the Bears have their answer at quarterback and this team is of and running I could see if they go like 4 and0 in September and we kind of turn towards October it's like H the talk of the the the NFL it's the Chicago Bears that are back this team's gonna make a run yeah I could see at that point bringing in tanah Hill to be like all right what you kind of laid out is possible this team is good enough they're going to be a contender yeah and uh tanah Hill could just be a safety net to that season in case of injury but unfortunately I don't think that that's how things are going to start so I don't I'm not worried about it well I I I agree with the piece in the sense that I think that this is a good enough team where a better backup is somewhat warranted like I don't know how much Tyson bent has put in the work in the offseason I'm sure he has he's very professional he's T always talked about being ready at a moment's notice and he came in and he did really well for a couple games and then he kind of fell off yeah um so I I agree that you don't necessarily have to do it before training camp that was just the title of the article yeah you know but I do believe that this team is good enough where if something were to happen there's enough veterans on this team where you need to strike while the iron's hot in the NFL and if this defense is cooking again the way that they were and you've got all these great weapons I don't know if Tyson beion is good enough to keep the ship afloat for an extended period of time okay so let me let me ask you this off the top of my head I don't know who who's the backup for Detroit oh God do you know off the top of your head do you know off the top of your head who's the backup for the Packers don't know okay the point I'm proving with that is don't you feel as if those two teams should go out and sign Ryan tanhill Detroit has a Super Bowl or bus season in front of them but the difference is that we're talking about we're living in a world and Green Bay if if Jordan Love Goes Down they're a team that should get to the playoffs and should compete for an NFC Championship game as well I think in this world Aaron shots was on the article on espn.com was living in a world that tanah Hill would do this and take a backup role which we don't think because he probably would have signed now if he was willing to take a backup role right like this also says in the in the piece from shot says that he would be a good Mentor for Caleb Williams in maneuvering the NFL season and he could like not saying that Ryan tanah Hill's God's gift to quarterbacking he's gonna be this great you know ear to listen to whatever Caleb Williams and lend all this advice but he was a quarterback in the NFL he's played in playoff games he knows what it's like to be in the NFL and to go through the daily grind and all that kind of stuff and he would be a good support system for a rookie quarterback so it's kind of twofold where he could come in in a moment's notice and kind of keep the ship afloat and get you to the playoffs but also he's someone who could Mentor your Young quarterback that Detroit doesn't need right now that the Packers probably don't need because Jordan Love's been sitting on the bench watching Aaron Rogers for the last four years so he doesn't need that whereas a rookie would need that because all the other teams with rookie quarterbacks don't don't necessarily fit that bill well and those teams don't have expectations exactly that this Bears team is going to have exactly um and that that's why I kind of point to the other teams in the division the Packers and the Lions I feel like those are teams are in they teams that are in win now mode at this moment yeah one team has to get to the championship game or bus so MC championship game that's the Lions they're expected to get to that point or Beyond Green Bay should be good enough to do the same uh I feel like those teams should be more desperate in this situation to look at a player like tanah Hill if that's the case but I think Ryan tanah Hill is going to sit around and wait for the uh starting quarterback of some team to go down because it will happen oh yeah and then he'll be there and he'll be that safety night I don't think that the Bears need to jump on that right now because like I said earlier in this video I think and beun showed enough that for three games for a month I think be's okay yes he's good enough for a month to allow your team to split yes if you got four games you can go two and two you can keep your season of float you're okay isn't that what he did last year yeah and and the defense is better now so that's my point is like the weapons are better too and they entered last season they entered one game specifically where the game was over at the jump the Chargers game that he started uh he didn't play well against the Saints which that was the game they lost but then the home game against the Raiders he played well yeah and from the start the Bears controlled that game from from the very start of the game so is he a great backup I don't think he is I think he's serviceable and for what this team I'm what this team is I'm okay entering training cam knowing that Bean's the B up at this moment I would go if if you had to say the final move for all 32 teams based on the piece on espn.com for me the Chicago Bears 100% I would lock in defensive end I would too I would say defensive end would be my number one but I wouldn't be upset if I found out if we got an alert from Adam schfer that said the Bears are sighing Ryan Ryan tanah Hill to a one-year deal for a decent amount of money because you would have to incentivize it for him right it would have to be worth wild because he'd be coming in there's no competition you're the number two you will the back you're mentoring you're doing and then if we need you you're going to be the first string guy because and then beun will become third string and you release Brett rien or put him on the practice squad or whatever yeah I wouldn't be opposed to that if you have the money to do both why not both son n and and Ryan tanah Hill and you know and go into the season with both of those guys I agree that I don't think that Ryan tanhill is going to take that kind kind of a role until the season ends but I or till the quarterback uh someone gets hurt and the season starts but I wouldn't be upset if we got the news that the Bears signed Ryan tanah Hill and he knew he was going to be the backup quarterback and that's just kind of how it was going to go all right I'm gonna look it up just for uh the comments sake let's look up the roster quarterbacks are yeah cuz you know Packers fans are going to get all mouthy in the comments you know you forgot about this guy Sean Clifford right now is list as the backup for the Green Bay Packers he's the former Penn State quarterback I believe uh yeah he's 25 went to Penn State that's who's listed as the backup for the Packers and let me go to the Lions um I feel like we're gonna go oh yeah that guy for the Lions I'm pretending to look it up I'm checking soccer scores oh henden hooker is L's the backup henden hooker henden hooker okay uh so both of those teams I think they qualify for teams that could use Ryan tanah Hill if their starting quarterback goes down yes they they obviously would and again tanah Hill is better than henen hooker he's better than Sean Cliff we're living in a Bizarro world where Brian tanah Hill accepts a mentorship job because he feels like a good person and wants to Mentor a Young quarterback who just came into the league where he knows he's going to be the backup in case he gets hurt which I don't think is a world that is real right now plus it's not a bad Gig if the guy turns out to be great you could just be the backup and never really have to play and do anything it's a great life but Chase Danel made millions of dollars yeah Tanana Hill has made millions of dollars and he is a legitimate starting quarterback in the league yeah he's not great but he's a starting quarterback he's serviceable and could get this team to the playoffs he's a starting quarterback yes all right so I disagree abdala agrees with the piece the Bears need to go out and sign Ryan tanah hill before they get to training camp what do you think leave a comment below also remember download our
