vaugh gethin the Welsh first Minister has said he will begin the process of stepping down as leader of the Welsh labor party this of course is off the back of the news we gave you earlier of four Welsh cabinet minister saying they are resigning uh because of VOR Geth and they're not happy with him and they wanted him to step down I think we can cross live now to our Wales correspondent Thomas Morgan who has the very latest Thomas tell us exactly what's happened today to lead to this event well as you mentioned there four of his uh senior ministers have stepped down today and there has been pressure really on V gethin ever since he won that leadership battle back in March and when he subsequently became the first Minister and there was pressure around a 00,000 donation given towards his campaign from a company run by a man that was twice convicted of environmental offenses so a number within Welsh labor weren't happy about that there were then concerns about some text messages sent over uh Co which came out in the co inquiry but then more recently as well there has been concerns with the manner in which V geing sacked a former Minister for allegedly leaking information to a media Outlet in Wales the former Minister has denied that V gean said he's done nothing wrong there was evidence to suggest that that individual had leaked that information he was well within his right to do so subsequently last week we heard from that media uh company that actually it wasn't that Minister the VOR GTH and alleged Hannah Blen that leaked the information and I think there has been a split within Welsh labor for some time um there was also concerns regarding whether or not the Welsh government could actually pass a budget they've got 30 members in the Senate but they do require at least one member of one of the opposition parties or an opposition a member of a different part that are not part of Labor to pass a budget and I think all this pressure has been mounting up on him and of course at the start of the general election campaign he faced a no confidence vote that he lost as well but he stayed in place and in some respects this is very similar to the process of events which led to Boris Johnson stepping down if you remember of course it took a number of ministers before he stepped down as well and it looks like that has been the Catalyst for him stepping down today Thomas thank you very much indeed Thomas Morgan there our Wales correspondent we'll bring you more on that uh breaking story from the world of Welsh politics uh
