all right Toronto's International Film Festival officially kicks off today with more on that and our other entertainment headlines Morgan Hoffman is back with entertainment first in the morning but before we get to Tiff we have to talk about the world premiere of Joker yes so this is the movie I'm going to say that so many people have been waiting to see Jeff I know you're emotionally invested with the standing ovations can you guess how long the Joker Folia received it's got to be over 10 I'm going to go okay uh 11 no you've read the report before yes it's 11 we were all on the call together this morning no 11 minute standing ovation which is super super impressive really interesting because I find this stuff really interesting Wen Phoenix who of course is reprising his role as the Joker he left the room after about 9 Minutes well he was tired of it too I guess you know I guess he's like okay we get it um but Lady Gaga you know this is her role as Harley Quinn we know that this sequel uh you're going to see her musical talents come through it is a musical um and this is the the movie that you know when the first Joker came out in 2019 it blew everybody away made over a billion dollars out the box office Walken received his Oscar uh for best actor so lot of expectations on this but we have to talk about Lady Gaga in that in beautiful look it's like she has a a unique take on a fascinator that's her fiance right there I don't know if you saw the pictures over the past couple of day she's been sporting a giant engagement ring like probably the biggest one I've ever seen any celebrity wear um but but she just looks so lovely this is her moment there it is it's honestly zoom in it is it is do we need to zoom in actually you don't you don't need it you can see that from outer space No it's it's actually pretty wild so that's really exciting so I'm happy and now you know knowing that 11 minute standing ovation I can't wait to see it okay not that I ever will but if I ever get a standing ovation uh I'm never leaving I'm never walking out I'll Stay full St St all right let's talk Tiff which is as you mentioned officially kicks off at today and we're hearing rumbling some rumors that maybe Katie Perry might make an appearance listen we're putting this out into the universe uh so Orlando Bloom who of course uh Katy Perry and him have been together for years now they have a child together um his movie The Cut Is premiering uh today which is really exciting uh he's playing a boxer who's coming out of retirement um so this is a big movie for him people are saying could Katy Perry show up there are rumors uh that she might which is really really exciting um there's just a lot to talk about Katy Perry recently she was on a podcast called her daddy uh and she recently opened up about their relationship how the first year they were together and then they took a break a pretty extended break they each uh kind of went to a Meditation Retreat figured out some things healed some parts of themselves got back together and they've been together ever since okay so that's kind of nice so yes hopefully Katy Perry and then of course um we just have so many stars that we're expecting over the weekend I know we're all going to be doing red carpets and sit down interviews with celebrities so my personal favorites uh I know nutcrackers is having it's big Premiere tonight this is that Ben Stiller movie um where he's like a workaholic and then he has to go and uh basically become like a parental figure to his recently orphaned uh nephews um and we haven't seen Ben Stiller in an acting role in seven years it's been that long it's been I know I had I had to double check that but yeah so that's exciting Demi Moore um she's having the premiere for her film the substance um where this is really taking a look at how women specifically are aging and and and just the um societal you know kind of expectations of a lot of people are calling this the performance of her career they are and they're saying like this is body horror at its best um so I'm really really excited to see this one Nicole Kidman um lot of excitement about Nicole Kidman's film uh coming to Tiff Angelina Jolie this is one I'm very very excited for she's coming for her film that she directed starring Selma hyek um and Angelina will be honored with the Tiff tribute award uh in Impact media that's really exciting um that will be a big moment for her and then will frell is having um a documentary and this is about his real life friendship uh with a friend who he's known since SNL days and it's about them going on this us road trip and just really highlighting the fact that his friend is transitioning and what that looks like to them and how that impacts their friendship so uh yeah a lot of exciting stuff and then uh we saw Selena Gomez there she's going to be here too for milia Prez that's really exciting for me well and we've been talking so much about the Venice Film Festival but a lot of the Stars they go to Venice and then they come to Toronto right they come to Toronto and the People's Choice Awards uh or People's Choice Award at Tiff is always a really exciting one because that is a bit indicative of who will either be nominated or win the Oscar for Best Picture so it's really exciting people are going to wait to see uh who gets that award at Tiff
