e e e e e e e e e e test test test one two hey ladies and gentlemen good evening to you and welcome here to Alumni Coliseum as Montana Tech getting ready to take on the Tigers of Georgetown College out of Kentucky number 21 of the country hosting the number three School in the country and the digs taking on the Tigers Paul Pisco Ron hasket here on Digger Vision ladies and gentlemen good evening and welcome back to football oh isn't it great isn't it great it we get a uh a morning of mid-30 Dee temperatures it was chilly ah it just perfect a bunch of people had their flowers covered perfect I can't wait for those things to die by the way uh from the guy that is is so crazy about his lawn you're going to whine about somebody's flowers really it's a football season I'll take it all the way the way through June and July and uh for the most part August but now it's time for those things to go bye-bye well again thanks for joining us as Montana Tech taking on the Tigers out of Georgetown College last year uh Montana Tech it was the first year since 1997 that Montana Tech fa two new opponents and this year they'll do it again as Georgetown College is the first here here in week one and then we'll see Simpson College out of California a little bit later on in the year uh but this Georgetown team this is this is exciting you know we it's not very often brother that we get a team that comes in or where we play period that actually has an older program than we do right you know I mean that that's a real Rarity you know this Georgetown and Kentucky team started back in 1893 uh and Montana Tech of course you know the school open in 1900 started football in 1902 and uh this is it's going to be an awful lot of fun this Georgetown team has hung some banners they've won a couple of national championships they have played for a handful more beyond that they were in the semi-finals year ago and they are led by their incredible tailback uh and a young man that just absolutely tears it up for the Tigers and that is Mr Neil ran for 1372 yards a year ago averaging about 115 yards a game and as uh uh this tiger team goes as Neil goes I took a peek back into their playoff run and I just went back two games uh the game against Baker Kanas in the National quarterfinals uh eight carries for 188 yards uh must be the real real deal you know that you know I went on YouTube looking for some stuff on these guys just some highlight reels not much out there a couple local news shots of some highlights and but uh if you've got a pulse on niia football especially the last say 20 years you know and I the I'm not going to say it just goes back to the Mike Van era but that's when you start to notice it right these teams coming up through the playoffs uh Carol getting in the National Playoff scene uh they've been a formidable opponent for a long time uh they've won their fair share but this is a team that's going to come up and hit you in the mouth both on offense and defense uh you know I've watched some a little bit of tape on them you know like throwing the ball I'm not going to say it's real crisp but as good as they are on the ground you know in play action pass if you're good on the ground you don't have to be real Dynamic through the air you know you get a lot of what you're looking for you know when you when you put the ball in the belly of the tail back and pull it and pull up and throw uh but this a good outfit and uh they can they can run block and tackle my my one analogy in you know you brought up the van D era at Carol College this Georgetown team really reminds me of an early 2000 Frontier school because they they're going to beat you up in the Run game I mean they're just going to flat out come after you and then their front seven are just Scrappy I mean they're they're they're a real Dynamic real good defensive team uh they have a tremendous linebacker All-American guy coming back for them as well uh but they do they this this team you know and obviously we're Frontier bias but this uh you know this team really feels like a frontier conference school to me in the way they run the football uh in the way way they really kind of dictate things defensively to make them feel more at home we should have told them they were coming to play Centerville or Walkerville because they got a lot of vills in their conference Campville Huntsville Wilsonville or whatever uh yeah there's a lot of vills down there and uh yeah but it's a good outfit um and yeah anybody that pays any attention to ni football the last 20 or 25 years knows who Georgetown Kentucky is what they're all about uh a good program and you got to play really really well to be well again thanks for joining us here as we are getting ready to roll actually I'm glad we went to the wide shot here as you take a look at the uh the new Turf the new Turf is there we've got the Shadows being tossed out but you can see obviously the pick and AXS at the center of the 50 and you can kind of see the V over on the left we'll certainly see that a little bit more uh as we go but this is the first game played on the new Turf uh and just could not be happier I'm biased but that is the best logo in college football at pick and axe no question uh yeah it's they did a beautiful job up here they took the Bob Green off the sidelines and you'll notice Bob Green Field up there with his signature up there to the right around the 20 ydd line but uh they did a fantastic job they got the vlit down on the 20 yd line and then the big sponsor logos but uh it looks great the end Zones look great let's hope we get there I'll tell you this is uh it's going to be a great day here as the number 21 team of the country Montana Tech taking on the number three team in the country the Tigers out of Georgetown of Kentucky a little little Frontier well half Frontier action here at Bob Greenfield Alumni Coliseum the tailgate is packed we're going to have a packed house here tonight I've never been restricted to to fall in a box I've never been told that I can't do something I saw it as a great opportunity to develop a career you create your own destiny at new we're building something bigger out here at new for come join us hey once again welcome back here to Bob Greenfield Alumni Coliseum the opening game of the year Montana Tech and Georgetown uh you brought it up earlier uh there there was a little gamesmanship I mean far be it from coaches to to finagle and and position pawns and you know move their uh their nights around a little bit videos are pulled from the internet uh the uh you know it felt like we were going to have to run two VHS tapes and meetting like Colorado uh you know it felt like we were going to go back about 25 years to to hand off VHS tapes but I mean I can understand it completely this is a huge game two big opponents and obviously a a big one to get the season started you see the big smile that is from my coaching days meeting in Boulder with Carol to hand off to VHS tapes an offensive tape and a defensive tape but uh yeah the exchange of tapes you know FedEx and F FedEx and those big tapes uh yeah I mean it's just a different world now and how anybody would try and keep anything you know somewhat secret I tell you you can find a way more power to you because it's virtually impossible it's tough you know let's let's talk about both these teams we talked a little bit about the Tigers out of Georgetown uh let's talk about this Montana Tech Team from a year ago they averaged 31.6 points a game game 4285 yards a game offensively this offense we certainly uh were lucky enough to see it every week and just how powerful they were uh in all facets you know you have tremendous Run game you great depth at running back tremendous receivers great quarterback play uh and and a whole bunch of that is back I mean there are so many weapons right now uh in the Bandelier for Coach Samson offensively uh it it it's hard not to kind of drool when you think about what this Montana Tech offense could do this year it's a senior Laden team yeah no doubt about it but what you know what can get it didn't get lost with us but what gets lost with this offense last year is Blake counts going down right and uh the emergence of Lander Smith Lander Smith was a motion h-back blocker very rarely carried the ball he stepped in at tailback and what this offense did to Rally around him and what he did for himself to become just a premier back in this conference there's no doubt about it I mean uh and you know he was certainly never the last want to get up took a lot of shots delivered more yep and uh and the work he did to step in there at that tail back position for this offense because it's a you know it can be a run heavy offense and so much of what they do is based off the Run game the play action game uh that's where guys like uh Wyatt Alexander you know go going back to last year Estus and Torgerson that's where those guys get open you know because they get that they get the attention of that second level the defense so uh yeah I'm I'm looking forward to a great year because you got a few guys that are going to step into the fold here today I think of guys like Nick melotti Dylan Snyder in the receiving game you got a pair of torers stacked up at that inside slot that HB or whatever you want to call it um and then Lander Smith back in the backfield with a little more help this year Christian vet's healthy uh rener is healthy so uh and I and I hope they I hope they platoon those guys a little more I think I think that'll do a ton of good for this offense I think you know the last couple years and they're so different looking on the field right you know I mean there there was a lot of similarities last year with with powerful backs guys that really ran hard and now like you say when you roll veter in there you roll rener in there you look at how fast both those two are and how good they are uh just that snap speed you know they're they're so good laterally uh and then Landers of course is just going to run over you your family your neighbors and anyone that's in the zip code and it'll only help his game it'll help this offense and and I'm really looking forward to it I got up to watch practice on Monday night and you know they got some uh difference makers out there on the edge we know what the terson pair uh Levi and Kyle can do with the inside slot and then another one that seems like he's been here out no 108 10 years Logan Kennedy at tight end they got a lot of stuff uh they're working on with him uh I don't want to spill any beans here but look for some tight end delay stuff some tight end screen stuff uh he's eager to catch the ball uh he does a lot of the heavy lifting in the running game but that kid can catch it and run with you know I feel like the um tight end is going to have a lot more of a role this year you know you look at a guy like Pierce a young man I believe a junior this year uh you know he has just gotten better and better and and he is more of a tackle type tight end you know he's a guy that you can put on the edge you know he's a tremendous guy in in run block and in pass block uh but also can go out and catch it I I think you know you're going to see we're going to see a few more guys below out of Belgrade we're we're going to see him step in he's going to catch some footballs this year I think the tight end is going to have a much bigger Focus uh in this offense this year ref a little basketball with beow this year yeah good-looking kid big strong wish had that hair uh yeah of course I do I wish I had any here um but uh yeah I think that the biggest answers that Montana Tech's going to have to face today is on the defensive side of the football they could score with anybody last year uh where they struggled you know and I gave my opinion last year they they were just they weren't bad in the defensive front they were just light in the defensive front they just never had a lot of numbers guys that they could play you know uh five six seven eight defensive front guys you know throughout a long grinding series and I think they were exposed there a little bit so we'll see how those questions are answered here today uh nearest I could tell you know for the first time in a long long time I think Tech's going to have an e or an even defensive front uh four guys with their knuckles in the ground this year at least what I saw it practice the other night so I'm looking forward to that and uh you know what that does in the in the second tier of the defense I think it takes tell Arthur off the field one of those middle linebackers uh so we'll see him platooning in and out of there but I think uh Kade Wyant will get the start at middle linebacker well again thanks for joining us here as we get ready for the start of this one Montana Tech taking all the Tigers out of Georgetown Kentucky we'll take a break we're back here right after this it's important for bu Auto to partner with Community Partners such as Montana T Athletics because of the commonality of goals that we have for the be Community with tech Athletics we look at it as a way to not only provide great things for the community whether that's attending football games volleyball games basketball games it also helps Tech Athletics to have further Outreach to bring in more athletes more students and really add to the diversity of but but Auto and Montana Tech Athletics we're going to do great things together [Music] [Music] hey welcome back here once again to Bob Greenfield Alumni Coliseum you take a look down on our brand spanking new Turf the the one thing I cannot stress enough haset the crew that came in and tore the turf out and then put the new Turf down is the hardest working group of individuals I've ever come across in my life they were so good and they were such good guys they were here over the Fourth of July and and for those that don't know but but for some reason we've always done the fireworks on the third and and I told them I'm like all right so what you're going to want to do on the third is you're going to want to come into the field sit 50 yard line lock the gate behind you so nobody comes in here and bust in on you I'm like maybe get yourself a surveyer six there you go and sit in a chair and watch the fireworks and they didn't know anything about it came the next morning they're like that was good so it's a heck of a show no doubt about it they they worked so hard they were such a good crew and uh we certainly can't thank them enough so uh again thanks for joining us we're getting ready for this one as Georgetown taking on Montana Tech let's talk about this Georgetown team again remember they played uh in the semi-finals a year ago they averaged 34.6 points a game 356 yards a game and the bulk of that coming on the ground as we take a look down here they uh passed for 1900 yds they rushed for 2374 uh they put up about a buck 60 a game through the air and just under 200 a game on the ground they scored 17 touchdowns through the air and 30 on the ground and of course as I mentioned earlier Neil's the guy to watch for he had 2011 carries a year ago 1372 Yards First Team All-American he averaged 6.8 yards a carry and had 20 touchdowns yeah you you look at a stat line like that say as a coach or or a player it can it can paint a picture for you right this is a a team that's you know it's going to be a 50/50 maybe or heavier run versus pass but uh I look at something like that that stat line and I think low I think kind of a low scoring game a team that's going to punch you right in the mouth uh you know a lot of guys to the football tackling and a team that's going to try and grind you out on offense sler at quarterback he was their quarterback a year ago he is back he complied completed excuse me 59% of his passes he was 137 to 231 1781 yards through the air a year ago he averaged about 148 yards a game through 14 touchdowns and 11 interceptions uh as a starter for the Tigers out of Georgetown the the big place where they got hit by graduation was their receiving Corp and guys that caught passes because one of them was a tight end out of their top four receivers from a year ago two of them were receivers they graduated and a tight end graduated so that's the the the big hole that kind of has to be filled for the Tigers out of Georgetown and and we'll see what they come out come out with here today yeah and lucky for them those are three positions where you generally get a lot of people standing in line so uh you know if you're doing a good job recruiting and keeping that cupboard full uh you know they should just be looking for the next man up you know where where it's tough to keep those cupboards full is in the offense and defensive front and uh uh Montana Tech you know I didn't want to have to talk about it but you know they're great offensive tackle Jamie melotti forced to retire right forced to resign as a college football player uh due to health conditions and it is unfortunate I will tell anybody that'll listen that kid was a future Hall of Famer up here in the offensive front he was just outstanding you don't get athletes like him yeah that are willing to play that position and he played it and played it well uh as a freshman and was a huge huge factor in this Montana Tech offense and certainly uh they they were planning on him being the foundation they build upon over the next several years yeah starting at left tackle as a true sophomore in college football I don't care what level you're playing that is an honor and it's it's a testament to your ability he's fantastic I wish him nothing but the best you know moving forward but that's going to hurt this offensive front they juggled them around a little bit you're going to see some guys in maybe some different positions but they feel comfortable I got to talk to coach Samson my new neighbor uh this morning a little bit about it just what they're going to do there and uh he feels good he feels comfortable but uh yeah I mean you you you take that and and you look at an offense that maybe wants to stretch the field a little bit get that guy get Blake Thelen your quarterback two two and a half just under three seconds to throw the football and then you're going to see the likes of uh Nick melot and Wyatt Alexander Kyle and Cody Tor or Kyle and Levi torguson you know show their stuff I'll tell you this receiving core is just absolutely slammed you talk about Wyatt Alexander a young man that just went off last year 119 yards the second best receiving year uh in history for Montana Tech uh 53 catches averaged 101 yards a game over 20 yards a catch who's he behind who is that Bo do you remember that guy we got a Hall of Famer coming up indeed my man zo isn't that awesome that is the congratulations Lorenzo Snider hitting the Hall of Fame I hope you're listening I could not could not be happier my two Amigos in the Hall of Fame I just loved them both they were two of the best ever led by I don't know if Darby mcke will ever make the Hall of Fame but he led those two guys and uh you couldn't wear them three out you couldn't wear them out I coached them uh in the mid90s uh and we were pretty thin there we used to run ball drills you could not wear those guys out and uh their work is a testament to their Rewards well it's uh certainly going to be a great night and we thank you for joining us here as the play starting to fill up the tailgate is hammered and the Montana Tech Team about to come down and make their way through the tailgate our opener here this year Montana Tech number 21 in this country on the other side Georgetown of Kentucky they come in number three uh in the country and just a tremendous matchup to get this season started uh this sounds like the the talk and the buildup for this game being signed and possibly happening was a long time coming there it sounds like it was initially chatted about I months and months ago and then it kind of kept getting pushed off and pushed off and then when it was decided like they they signed it as quick as they could make it happen uh and this isn't a home and away this is a onetime deal and that's it now that's a big question for a lot of people and I think the only reason it's not home and away is because of the frontier conference ballooning next year uh and there there won't be a space for non-conference games anymore I it was going to be my first question I was trying to queue you up there with little hand signal to see if it was a home and home deal but uh yeah that's good and and hats off to Georgetown uh first game of the year making the trip across country to come in and play a perennial a a solid football program and uh yeah you can tell by georget toown they at least our recent history they'll take on all comers mhm and I think both coaching staffs and both programs are built that way you're not going to walk away from anyone you know you're not going to I don't think either of these programs uh are built to you know to avoid contact in the preseason you know you want to get out there you want to play the best you want to prove your medal you want to prove your worth uh and that's certainly what these programs in my opinion uh base themselves around they're both raised in Pro or programs and conferences where you got to bring it every week you know so whether you got to step out of conference hey maybe it's a chance to to look at a future playoff opponent and both these coaches realize that and I'll tell you I mean next year uh things change for us greatly will all will balloon to a 14 team conference in the frontier conference uh I I never thought I'd see the day like I truly never thought I would ever see the day I mean you and I have now been in this conference for I think 75 years um and you know the the frontier going into a 14 team conference we're going to see an East and West um and you know you'll see a couple teams moving from the East to the West after two-year rotations um you know there's going to be some growing paints but uh there's going to be some great football and the other side of that with the East and the West Conference we'll have two teams the winner of the East will get the automatic bid and the winner of the West will get the automatic bid oh that'll be nice yeah it's uh it's going to be something to watch and hopefully it can stick together right they can they can keep that conference intact and everybody happy and competing week in and week out uh yeah it's going to be something to see you're right though it's going to balloon well again thanks for joining us here as Montana Tech getting ready to take on the Tigers out of Georgetown and let's take a look at some starters here shall we uh what which do you want to start with here do you want to you were talking about Mont Tech's offense you want to run us through the tech offensive uh starters if you got them got them all right you got your reading glasses yeah we we got them I'm all set Montana Tech offensively at wide receiver you'll get Levi uh Levi and Kyle Torgerson both Wyatt Alexander and the offensive front uh at that left tackle position the first guy that's going to step in there for Jamie melotti will be safe benjia uh in the guard Tom wup Max Anderson Brandon Spencer Shannon O'Brien then tight end Logan Kennedy been here forever looking for big things out of Logan and then a running back starting tailb will be Lander Smith and the quarterback a couple years of experience and throwing the ball really really well Blake Thelen on defense for Montana Tech in that D front sky sky stonic that's a guy last year you you heard me talk about quite a bit he never saw a ton of snaps but he always made plays when he was in there so I'm looking forward to see what happened you know with another year experience obviously he got their attention in that uh on that Montana Tech football field starting at D end along with Trey Yates Zack Newton and Jade morass out of Dylan uh that's a fourman surface there's four D linemen there so that's what we're looking forward to see for the first time in a lot of years a four-man front for Montana Tech then a linebacker tell Arthur Cole Wyant Matt Wickham uh and then the defensive back field at the corners you got downs and Angel Sanchez and at the safeties you got gonzer pton gonzer and Jaden mcneel boy I I look at a guy like the the ones that jump off the page for me we have a couple guys that have been here forever and are huge Staples but I look at a a season you know pton gonzer had some monster games last year he's asked to be a factor this year and Matt witcom I I think you know witcom at times was just Stellar last year um if if we get those guys playing at a high level for every game for 60 minutes this is going to be a powerful defense yeah getting over to the other side of the ball the Georgetown offense a wide receiver you got Matt Miller and Chandler God boy or God Godby excuse me Dylan Warren at left tackle you got Garrison MTH Noah Smith it's Center Blake Gossett Jacob Langston Chandler uh McDonald I'm assuming that says it's cut off a quarterback you got Garrick sler uh running back Darius Neil and the tight end Luke Olive in the defense in the defensive front they list three must be an odd front Lawson vaugh Jacob Harmon and romary and Warner at linebacker you get Tyler Snell Chad hollerin and Bryce huddle something that got you it cut off did it yeah that got cut off too I'll look it up here we try not to butcher it all day long at your safeties we got uh Trayvon Allen John Carter Meers Jason Hayes and a cornerback Justin Richards and Josh and Ethridge so Bryson huddon oh huddon oh there that makes sense oh then the punter punter and kicker uh return punter for Montana Tech Andrew alos an outstanding punter kick yeah new kicker Dylan root meets it well I watched him kick it the other day uh and the return guys Levi terson Levi torguson so Levi and Kyle will be back there if there's two and if there's one it'll generally be Kyle or Levi and the punters uh Drew Raider for uh Georgetown kicker Drew Raider as well and the returner Dylan Warren on both kick returns and pun returns well it looks as though we're about ready to get our national anthem here in the mining City again thanks for joining us as we are here on Digger Vision as it is copper game ladies and gentlemen as just looking forward to what should be a great day here in the mining City little chilly this morning but uh it is really shaping up to be a nice one here Rocky Mountain Credit Union Copper game and we will pause here for our national anthem [Music] oh say can you see by the dawn's early light what so [Music] proudly we we held at the Twilight last [Music] gleaming who Brad stripes and bright stars through the peras F or the ramp part we w [Music] were so gallantly streaming and the rocket red glare the bombs bursting in air gave proof through the night that our flag was still there oh who say does that star spangled bner yet [Music] W or the land of the free [Applause] and the home of the bra there we go teed for Maddie ladies and gentlemen our national anthem here as we get ready to roll and uh I Paul if you could give me a second here please uh Montana Tech uh assistant head Coach Doug schan today coaching with a heavy heart and that we're coming up we're going to have a moment of silence go ahead please yeah I just wanted to talk a little bit about Rolo uh his father-in-law his uh his wife Tara's dad was a Montana Tech employee for 26 years ran the physical plant he was a legend uh and I promised everybody I'd tell this story I remember me and Chuck forgi were coaching up here and we both been racking up a bunch of parking tickets finally green came in one day and he goes would you guys get up see Rollo B your parking tickets and I'd never met him you know he was just a legend I'd met red and Tony and all the guys right but I'd never met uh uh Rollo so we had to go face the music I went walking in there I had 300 they were 10 bucks a piece I had $300 in parking tickets and I'm going God I wonder if I can get out of here not only did I meet Rolo and uh we had a nice conversation he told me you know you got to get your head out of your butt I pled my case on parking in the visitor parking on all this stuff he convinced me didn't slide on $10 $300 bill later me and Rolo were the best of friends Montana Tech got all their money but uh yeah Rollo passed away last week uh you know a serious illness for a for a long time and it's uh it was a tough deal we attended the funeral yesterday got to see coach green of course you know all the old uh all the old guard was there uh it was a a nice event and uh you know our hearts go out to the Shay uh schan uh and uh uh Burton families uh here in town but yeah it was uh it was a tough deal uh Rolo was a great one a legend in our neighborhood a grandpa in our neighborhood and he will be severely missed yeah just a tremendous man and you you love the the idea of how many different stories there are about Rolo that that's where that's where you start to realize the impact a person has uh not only on their immediacy but in their Community when you start to hear stories and and everything else he bled green he did he bled green loved this place and play loved him and uh yeah our hearts go out to the uh the families and extended families and the friends of the great John Patrick Rollo Shay and here comes Matt steppen off the field wearing the latest in his jumpsuit fashion so again thanks for joining us it is football season we have the new Turf down Montana I was told they're going to if they won the toss they were going to put the offense on the field absolutely last year remember last year I mean what they one game they didn't score in their opening possession I think it was all it was I mean offensively out of the gate they were a Powerhouse and they're going to go with that once again so the Montana Tech offense will get started the Tigers will kick off we have the Battle of top 25 Montana Tech number 21 of the country Tigers of Georgetown of Kentucky number three in the uh preseason poll Bill parcel used to say if you get the ball if you get a chance to take the ball take the ball take the ball take the ball so here we go again ladies and gentlemen thanks for joining us on Digger Vision the copper game here and we are away end overend high it's going to go seven yds deep and it's going to come out so the return across the 10 15 diving out to the 17 yd line got exactly what you want if you're Georgetown a nice high kick up in the air good hang time uh took forever to come down Montana Tech fielded at about five yards deep probably should have took an e but that's a kickoff return team that's eager to get the ball out on the playing field on the opening kick an injured player down for Montana Tech so again uh we are just underway here as the Montana Tech offense will get ready to roll again led by Blake Thiel and he completed over 61% of his passes a year ago through for 2,95 yards averaged 264 yards a game almost 10 yards an attempt through 24 touchdowns on the season and Blake Thelen will lead him out Smith in the back field Lander Smith then you're going to see Wyatt Alexander the young man out of White Hall split out wide the Torgerson boys Dylan Snider out of but Logan Kennedy at tight end and we are going to see some youth at receiver but I'll tell you this group is talented yes they are yeah it's the toughest job is going to be trying to keep everybody happy yes uh I never Pro or prodded coach Samson for much information during this fall camp but this morning when I visited with him I asked him one question how long before you try Alexander deep down the middle and he said not very so we'll see what what uh we got in store for us in this first series you know normally that would be considered like a uh uh you know like a roll of the dice but last year wasn't even remotely a roll of the dice it was pretty much almost like even money you hoisted down the field and Wyatt's going to get underneath that thing so they're going to get the injured player off of the field here for the Diggs 31 looks like yeah 511 190 lb sophomore out of Post Falls he's just a little gingerly on that left leg so we'll see hopefully it's nothing too serious but uh they're helping him off the field teammate and trainer bringing him over so here we go Iger football here as coming up to the line of scrimmage we are ready to roll Blake thielen will bring it out tight tight formation three receivers bellied up tight on the right side we'll see if they spread out on impact here and they do Kennedy moves to the left tailback moves to the left as well they fake the fly sweep they're going to go up the middle Lander Smith on his first carry across the 25 out to the 28 yd line first down yardage as a run of 10 ladies and gentlemen for Lander Smith on first down he's surprised that safety that came up to make the play he is ready to take one in the head Landers threw a move on him good piece of running just inside Zone off the right side to the bunch set and uh Smith just picked he was patient picked his spot and got up there for a first down so that'll bring him up to the line of scrimmage Smith in the back field Thelen and Kennedy in motion now goes back out to the right side actually that's Pierce pass goes out on the right side we do have some lead blocking out across the 30 out of the 32 as that getting up off the ground going to be Kyle terson the senior out a Great Falls fought through knee injury last year got into the playoff game against Dickinson good job getting out of the stance there Tyler Snell I think it was 55 got down the line of scrimmage was able to scrape down the line of scrimmage and and get a piece of toret before he got a head of speed up the sideline so back up to the line of scrimmage we come second down and six will'll say maybe seven two receivers on each side of the formation three-man Rush coming late Blitz pass through the middle that one intended for Levi terson in pretty heavy traffic and it will fall incomplete third down in six here for Montana Tech th was thrown to a window that Levi didn't see there Levi hooked up at about 10 to 12 yards down field and he you know he hooked straight up he didn't float in between the zone and th just had to try and find a a window in that zone to try and lead him too we're also an extermination agency here as I'm killing Hornets in the booth one back trips receivers left ball on the right hash mark Tigers showing Blitz looks like some confusion here between the safeties and the corner and Blitz coming Thelen steps up delivers pass complete first down yardage as terson Kyle terson gets it out to the 44 but we do have our first flag of the year I saw some laundry was it on this sideline here I believe so so we'll see if it's uh offside or somebody got started early illegal formation offense illegal third down so illegal formation and that will which was a first down now going to come back here we're going to be looking at third down and about 12 here for the Diggs first quarter action little game up front a loop a linebacker uh came untouched but you got credit th and that's experience right he's been in this position for a long time he stood in there and waited for his receiver to break open KN when he was going to take a hit and got that ball delivered on target all for not but uh it it just shows his senior Comfort level tight end right three receivers th drops back has all day good job through the middle that one's tipped and intercepted at the 49 yd line they now they'll say it is incomplete they're going to say it hit the turf as a boy right into the hands of Jason Hayes the DB out of Centerville Ohio he Dove after it but they're going to say it hit the turf so instead of the turnover it will be a punting situation and the first team All-American Andrew OS will come in to punt it away here for Montana Tech they brought a little pressure on Third and medium but then on Third and long they just rushed four stayed back in coverage uh thand you know they just maybe didn't get quite enough air underneath that ball it got tipped so again almost into to putt it away stand back at the 12 yd line Return Man back at the 26 lowline Drive knuckle ball caught at the 30 across the 35 out to the 37 and no more nice swarm tackle that time across the 35 yd line and the Digger D will come out on the field and we'll see the Tigers offense for the first time again sler at quarterback hit about 59% of his passes a year ago and then you've got a look at the tail back in Darius Neil Neil 6' 215 out of 11 inton Kentucky and he ran for 1372 yds a year ago averaged over 6.8 yd a carry yeah good coverage that time tell Arthur the inside linebacker getting downfield making a nice tackle in space so slunaker out of the shotgun two receivers to his left attach tight end right Montana Tech showing pressure tight end goes in motion Blitz coming slunaker downfield overthrown incomplete I was told and mainly by our new defensive coordinator that um there's going to be a whole lot of heat thrown uh in our in the Montana tag Digger D this year I'm glad they told you because I asked that question and nobody would commit on whether he was a pressure first guy or a sitb guy and so I was kind of curious that fourman front guys I wouldn't say generally the guys that like to play games up front are three four guys so uh that's good to see one back four receivers four guys down as hasket mentioned hand off going to go to Neil trying to find some Running Room Neil gets through the first level barely he'll get a yard and no more you know there's a good job uh Neil couldn't find what he wanted you know Tech in the defensive front they didn't actually say make the play or make the tackle but they got that offensive front stood up and and and they weren't able to gain any ground on them Neil didn't know where to go and then when he tried to cut back Cole Wyant got down the line of scrimmage and made the hit right into Captain Cole Wyant Cole Wyatt All-American just a just a phenomenal player and an even better person he and his brother are just as good a people as you're going to find third down and nine here for the Tigers sler one back trips receivers right tight end in motion and we're going to get a flag thrown here and it looks like the receiver got moving a little bit a little jumpy they ran a little motion Montana Tech walked up looked like they were bringing a game here off the short side edge along with an inside backer and uh they look to get a little uncomfortable Matt Miller the receiver out on the edge had angel Sanchez one of our other defensive captains right across the ball from him and Tech runs in a little more speed they run DJ Brown uh off the defensive end DJ Brown and Zack Newton off the ground and uh it looked more like a a couple more Edge type rushers this time you get Wyatt DeVos here on the near side edge and I can't get a number out there on the top side but looks like they ran into a little speed rush stuff here third down at 14 for receivers Montana Tech showing Blitz we'll see if they bring it here one back at home fourman pressure sler looking deep he has a man over the top complete 15 10 five touchdown as Dylan Warren just takes it right in the Bread Basket to the house that is a well thrown ball and Warren got behind everybody yeah and it's unacceptable against that defense fourman Rush you're sitting back in coverage you're in quarters coverage one thing you cannot let happen is let anybody get behind you if you're a near side safety look like they were umbrellaed and uh you know that's in that in that cover eight shell that's kind of a Corners guy you know you just you got to get out of that back back pedal and run and uh they just uh Warren just got into them too quick so that will bring the kicking unit in here but we get our white hat shatting for a moment touchdown is good excessive celebration I think okay on Sportsman like conduct number five that penalty will be enforced on the kickoff all right so it will be enforced on the kickoff 11 1135 left to play here in this first quarter and Georgetown on Third and 14 takes a big one so the kicking unit in for the Pat and that's a good way to quiet a very large crowd here in bu Montana as we await the snap snap and hold are good the kick is up the kick is through so Georgetown gets on the board first as they lead 7 to0 as the Tigers up over the or diggers here on Digger vision it's the copper game and we'll take a break we are back here to the mining city after this First Med timeout [Music] hey Dave Brennan here with caseih one of the new options for model year 2024 is going to be an open spoke gauge wheel that open spoke gauge wheel is going to be available on all 2000 series planners that's going to help those growers in adverse conditions with the muddy or high residue conditions minimize that plugging in and around that gauge wheel area for more information on this new offering of open spoke gauge wheels visit your local kih dealer Rocky Mountain Credit Union as you take a peek there our game here on a Thursday evening as Montana Tech taking on Georgetown of Kentucky again thanks for joining us here the opening game for both of these programs two old story programs certainly seen their time and boy a big First Strike there by Georgetown Montana Tech had a great opportunity to grab a ton of momentum there Georgetown was looking at third down and 14 uh the Diggs were looking at either you know stopping them to a really long field goal attempt or possibly a punt getting that football back and Georgetown is able to get behind the secondary and punch it in for six so we'll see if the Montana Tech offense can respond kicking off from the 20 here you should get field a good field position I don't know whether Mont Tech will still be on maybe some kind of script but I would expect a little more dose of Lander Smith right left and up the middle here uh just to kind of cool the heads and uh and and and try and establish uh somewhat of a moving of the chains kickoff bobbled by Kyle terson he'll get out to the 14 yd line and swallow it up there that is huge that is huge you kick off from the 20 yard line you get a nice kick nice high kick similar to the opener but uh Torgerson mishandles it down inside the 5 yd line and you still get that offense pinned inside the 15 yd line that is huge in special teams play yeah like I say remember that 15 yard penalty was enforced on the kickoff so that will start Montana Tech deep in their own territory ball right at the 15 yd line their second offensive possession similar set to open that that they had to open the game now they're going to shift to you know a tight slot on the right side and a heavy tight end and Wing to the left thand they're going to run counter here to the near side and Lander Smith out to the gain a four nearly five on first down I say it every week and so I'll start to say it again here four yards on first down first down uh just with inside zone is a four or five yards you got to be happy with it especially against good programs and you cannot get frustrated uh you know you stick to the plan move the chains get that defense some rest and hopefully end this drive with points on the board theing out of the shotgun second down and five Lander Smith in the back field Landers nope play action Thelen he's going to drop it off Kyle terson gets it he gets across the 25 yd line so it should be a fresh set of downs I like I I like the smarts of Kyle and I'm I'm a terson family fan anyway but he looks downfield before that ball gets to him to see who's coming at him and what direction they're coming from then he looks back to the ball gets it and tries to turn it up field you always tell those receivers to catch it first right but the difference makers the really good ones uh they know what's coming before the ball gets there they get into that first move our Hall of Famer coming up Lorenzo Snider that was his staple he was always into ball arrived and that's what made a difference between him being good and great first down and 10 here for the Diggs a TDS first down here for Montana Tech in the opening quarter Landers a huge hole 35 spins out to the 38 that's a gain of 12 what's not to like about that I mean he's he they're getting everything they want with Landers Smith in the back field credit to that offensive front and tight end up front you know giving room just Zone blocking getting to that next tier and giv Lander Smith some room that was a nice run quickly to the line of scrimmage now they'll look to the sideline for the play call Lander Smith right now three carries 20 yards three receivers here for Blake thielen Tigers show a fourman front they come with four Thelen stands delivers downfield and that one tipped by the safety over the top they were looking for Wyatt Alexander nice job by the safety that time deep coverage Justin Richardson the senior out of Georgia got a hand on it look like Blake was maybe looking for something in the honey hole between the corner and the safety here but that corner was locked on you know a lot of times they'll press him or Cloud him and you get a little honey hole down here 10 15 yds downfield but they had a locked on Corner they're pretty lucky that ball didn't get get turned over I uh I made the mistake of leaving my energy drink out in the sun holy moly it's like 143° Lake Thelen one back second down and 10 after the incompletion Torgerson in motion hand off to Smith Smith going to bounce it off tackle right he's out to the 42 a gain of four it didn't look like there was much there this guy for a and I don't want to I'm not going to call him a fullback anymore okay I'll call him a tailback but for an ex fullback he runs to Daylight as good as anybody I've ever seen he just sees it and feels it and able he's got nothing there able to pick up four yards injured player down here for the dicks now you're probably going to see but the first guy off the bench be high product Zack Tyne getting in the game that's it uh he he was rumored to be maybe moving into that left tackle spot but uh uh they ended up moving safe benjia over there and and rearranging their offensive front but now they got an offensive guy or an offensive front guy down so we'll get to see tyrany this guy's an athlete for a 300 pounder tremendously athletic a lot like melotti and uh looking forward to see what he brings to the table here you know this uh this offensive line group head coach you know the the coach of Danny Thatcher does such a good job with these guys and you know they have been as deep as we've ever seen uh in the offensive front the last couple years and like you say losing melot in that group this year it hurts a lot yeah you want a coach become a coach guys want to play for you know always go back to Punky Warner yeah as much crap as we used to give Punky Warner they used to stand in lines six deep to play defensive front for him and we couldn't trick any of them over to coming playing in the offensive front and that's not a slide on our offensive front coach but they love to playing for Coach Warner yeah I'll tell you Danny certainly one of those as well so injured player down again thanks for joining us here on a Thursday as of right now uh let's take a look here some of our numbers as let me see if I can uh get us updated here on this Thursday evening again Montana Tech number 21 of the country Georgetown comes in number three in the country and as of right now you got brother as we take a peek here ler Smith five carries 37 yards Blake thielen one for four right now for 25 yards on the other side slunaker one for two for 67 and one score and of course the long that 67 y over the top on Third and 14 so as they work on the big guy yeah Montana Tech you're just gonna have to get a feel uh see what Downs or what downs and distances they're pressuring you're seeing a lot of clouded coverage a little bit of man when they're playing their games up front a little bit of pressure but you're seeing a lot of of of umbrella type what we used to call cover eight some will call it quarters or cover four but uh yeah I mean you just uh there's a lot of good ways to beat that you just have to be patience and or patient and one place to beat it is about 10 yard down field 10 to 15 yards down field between the numbers and the sideline if you're patient enough and you can get time uh that's a good place to beat that defense boy that makes me happy Max Anderson gets up not only wants to come to the sideline under his own power he started to run and the trainer was like no man you're going to have to walk so max Anderson uh just as good a guy as you're going to find as Max is 6'3 295 lb senior played his game up to Flathead and he does come over to the bench and he will get treated here so third down time out on the field and a Montana Tech forced to call a timeout Geor first we can hear the Georgetown coaches next door to us uh going crazy I don't know did they have 11 guys on the field they got a timeout um I was trying to count them as they were running off and I thought I only counted 10 I don't I don't know if maybe they had the right call but you got Tech and third and medium here and uh last time Tech saw third and medium they brought a little pressure they brought an inside and an outside backer so we'll see what they bring to the table this time 937 left to play here in the opening quarter thanks for joining us on Digger Vision as we are here it's the copper game we have a packed house there's still I wonder if the several thousand people in the tailgate realize that that the football game has started a lot of them will tell you it doesn't start till the second half the amount of people that that I talked to that wanted to purchase a tailgate spot and they're like oh we have to have a ticket too is that that's unfortunate or until the coolers run dry so the Tigers leading 7 to zero the the uh one of the more interesting schedules I've seen it feels like maybe in my years Montana Tech has this game tonight here in the mining City and then we do not see Montana Tech back at home until October they have three Road games in a bye so no games in September at home that's unfair that's not good but the I mean if you're going to look for Silver Lining the five of your last six are at home I mean that you know you get in October November here that's good third down and six after the timeout two receivers left one to the right th brings Man in Motion that's Wyatt Alexander th dropping back has time through the middle terson Torgerson 45 down to the 40 yd line there you go caught him in a little stunt they brought some inside pressure that time brought six got man across the board torison just able to make a good Escape at the line of scrimmage get inside leverage on the quick slant and Thelen found him first down and 10 here for the Diggs they'll quickly come to the line of scrimmage checking out is going to be Logan Kennedy got Snider and Alexander Kyle Torgerson in there along with Logan and Kennedy good to see Snider out there out heard rumor there's a chance he might not play hand off going to go to Smith Smith turns it up field he's across the 3530 to runs over the safety down to the 27 yd line Lander Smith ladies and gentlemen he's going to have generational fans I mean who doesn't love yeah who doesn't love that and that guy runs to daylight but when he needs to uh he delivers a blow at the point of impact and that time just a steamroll of that near side safety first down and 10 Diggs another TDS first down here for Montana Tech as they look to climb into that kih Red Zone hand off going to go to Smith he tries to find the corner and he just can't get past the edge that time nice job out there on the edge trying to catch a number here looked like was it 55 that got a piece of Tyler Snell the junior that could have been him or 99 uh but any at any rate it was a good play but uh Smith found you know got one good bounce and a stiff arm there and as he went to cut he lost his feet Janelle Jamal Smith ended up getting credited with the tackle second down and 11 here for the digs ball at the 29 yd line of Georgetown three receivers left all to the wide side of the field here goes Wyatt Alexander in motion Alexander out to the numbers dropping back looking that way he's going to drop it off he was looking for Kennedy at tight end that one's going to fall incomplete third down they worked on that a ton the other day when I was at practice just a little tight end they probably give a a quick little Wyoming call or something for him to stay in and pass proo and release late little tight end delay they had kind of what they were looking for that time just a overthrow by Blake thielen he'd certainly want that back third down and 11 here for the Diggs could be two down territory I don't know how comfortable they're feeling with uh two kickers yeah Dylan Ruth the new Young kicker a freshman out of up in Boulder out of Jefferson dropping back looking across cross the middle th completes that one he's down to the 16 yd line fresh set of downs Kyle terson pulls it in and the Diggs are in the kih red zone for the first time here this evening welcome back Kyle Torgerson they're coming to him early and often and uh he went up strong for that ball really strong for that ball in traffic knew he was going to take a hit but uh wanted that first down even more coach and I were talking about Kyle earlier this week and he's like you know he fought back from injury and I I think he's faster now than he was before somehow first down and 10 hand off is going to go to Landers Smith Straight Ahead not much there but he still gets almost four right I mean that offensive line gets a great push Landers picks his Lane picks up four this is an active defensive front but I wouldn't call it a huge one it's not like the last one they faced there at Dickinson State when they came in last year they had three or four guys in that defensive front that were not just Heavy Hitters and quick off the ball but they were meaty guys you know 285 290 uh these guys are maybe a little lighter in the seat and uh easily e little maybe a little easier for the spontan tech front to handle 638 left to play here in the opening quarter Kennedy in motion handoff is going to go to Smith he's going to Bounce It Wide right tries to get past the linebacker Dives to the 5 yd line the flag down that's got to be a face mask probably going to get a face mask his helmet was torn off didn't slow him down a bit Justin Richardson the DB on that edge out of Georgia more than likely going to get the face mask here let's take a look at our replay here case construction replay is Boy again Landers bounces that out to the edge and he has daylight I does he have to leave the field if his head is or if his helmet's torn off I don't think if it's torn off you do right I mean it comes off yeah he's going to stay on the field if it comes off in your own power so again our case construction replay showing that that was uh yeah it was ripped right off his head it's real you don't call shots here right you don't say anybody deserves anything but this is where you're as an offensive staff you've seen what Landers Smith has done so far in this game this is Landers left Landers right Landers up the middle don't screw around get the ball in the end zone yeah that offensive front has given him all day let him take it in they're going to drop a tight end back is a fullback heavy formation up front and Ball's going to go to Landers Smith off tackle rights and he'll get a maybe a yard they're going to Mark him down to the three 553 left to play in the opening quarter Georgetown leading 7 to zero Montana Tech trying to tie it up I'd like to see him go a little single back here with the inside Zone cuz Landers has the ability to see daylight you know he likes to bounce that inside thing out uh and and he sees that quick bounce out you see that so often at all levels of football that inside Zone gets congested a guy that can see the quick bounce out and run the sideline we'll see if they can't get him here back up they move some bodies around out of the shotgun theing and the hand handoff is going to go straight up the middle and again that actually they're going to give him a couple positive yards down near the one it looked like from the far judge be right that's going to bring up third and goal right at the two yard line here probably two downs to get it Montana Tech right now has let's see Georg down runs another linebacker out there Blake Hobbs a six foot 250 lb junor boy the Diggs bring in two other tackles they are going to go huge across the board they're going to bring a tackle off the left side as out there is Big Zack Tierney Man in Motion one back at home thielen awaiting the snap handoff is going to go to Sanders and it's pounded into the end zone still no signal no signal there we go touchdown Montana Tech they pause to make sure but they pounded in and the Diggs will get in as Lander Smith will get his first rushing touchdown of the year and the Diggs within one as we uh take a look here at our case construction replay you can't feel bad if you're that Defender there not many people have won that one-on b one or excuse me one-on-one battle head to head with Lander Smith he won that collision and timbered into the end zone so as we uh get rolling here Montana Tech looking to tie it up snap and hold are good the kick is up and the kick is through we're tied up seven all 432 left to play here in the opening quarter Montana Tech gets their first touchdown of the Season we'll take a break as we have a time out on the field we're back here to Alumni Coliseum right after this [Music] hey Dave Brennan here with K one of the new options for model year 2024 is going to be an open spoke gauge wheel that open spoke gauge wheel is going to be available on all 2000 series new offering of open spoke gauge wheels visit your local kih [Music] dealer hey welcome back here once again to our copper game on a Thursday evening Rocky Mountain Credit Union our main title sponsor make it possible for us to be here this evening a gorgeous night in but Montana we're tied up seven a piece with 432 left to play here in this opening quarter Dylan rud does the place kicking duties but it looks like Ryder baronowski uh 6' 195b freshman from Whitefish does the kickoff duties indeed they battled all fall and they decided they're going to split them up so he'll pound it straight ahead this one's going to go all the way back and that's certainly a a heck of a way to things off for baronowski the true freshman out of white fish pushes it out to the back of the End Zone it makes a different noise coming off their feet I was down here the other night and it is a different noise so 432 left to play here in this opening quarter it reminds me of when hech used to punt that's that's what's lost any sound that headache is involved in is going to be violent he could have been our punter that's how good of an athlete he was first down and 10 here for the Tigers we left him at D line though bold move Neil with one carry thus far sler one of two through the air first down and 10 Neil in the back field one receiver each way Tech brings four up to the line of scrimmage hand off going to go to Neil he's going to stretch the corner turns it up field across the 29 to the 30 yd line a gain of five good feel that time coming up from safety pton gonzer they're going hurry so Georgetown quickly up to the line of scrimmage you saw the receivers jump out quickly they get the ball down and the tigers are going to go into hurry up look at the receivers set up way back at the 20 yd line there's a receiver 10 yards off the line of scrimmage nobody's set yet they got to get set before they can get this ball snapped I don't know what they're doing it almost looked like they were trying to play defense yeah so now they come up to the line of scrimmage Neil in the back field tight end lefts we've seen them move tight ends around quite a bit already here that continues to be the case receiver each way Montana Tech showing Blitz here they come with the house Neil going to get through the first level he's across the 35 to the 36 Neil going to get a first down here for the Tigers on the ground yeah good piece of running just inside Zone gonzer comes up makes the tackle just beyond the first down sticks but yeah a lot of movement there what looked to be a little bit of confusion on Montana Tech side defensively so quickly up to the line of scrimmage first down and 10 here for the Tigers they get the marker set three receiver spread for slunaker Rolling the pocket right airs it up across the 40 Out of Bounds at the 43 yd line as he hits his man Matt Miller Matt Miller the senior out of Ohio that's the first time not of Helena right that's that's the first time they've tested uh uh Montana Tech defense short and wide and downs really smart staying on top of it second down and four they'll swing it out here on the right side vertical leap up over the 45 ydd line as they get into the hands of Darius Neil and Neil looks like they're going to give him yeah he'll get first down yardage by one yard so that'll be another first down here for Neil got Airborne that time got over the tackler did a nose dive but he was beyond the stick he is a guy that you want to get the ball into their hands he is just electric whether you hand it off or get it out to him he did catch several passes a year ago let me take a look here uh yeah had 18 receptions a year ago tied end in motion trips receivers left to the wide side of the field Montana Tech showing Blitz again they're going to swing it out to Neil he tries to turn it up field he's across Midfield down to the 46 yd line toss sweep that time to the wide side good job by Wyant getting down the line of scrimmage they got it to the edge quickly but not before they picked up six yards you know they're getting everything they want there on first down last couple series under 2 minutes left to play here in the opening quarter we're tied up 7 all as the Tigers looking at second down and four here and this is certainly the territory they love to be in second and short one back three receivers sluder brings Man in Motion left to right they're going to give it to him on the Jet Sweep and he is going to get stood up what a play defensively by Matt wit boy he just shed a blocker and hauled him up put him down and just a tremendous play by Whit con we saw him do that quite a bit last year as he emerged in the second half of that season wearing a different number but at the same time playing that outside alley position that outside linebacker did always did a nice job of taking on blockers but keeping an outside arm free to make plays and uh that time he did both he not only got the uh running back to have to decide to turn it up and in but he got a hold of him and got him to the ground third down at six one back three receivers long snap count here continues to be long now they'll drop back looking left the whole way pass complete boy this is going to be close it's caught nice job by Dylan Warren to pull it in Warren Gets Hit hard they got him about a yard short so the ball is at the 43 yd line is this Easy Choice you just stack it up and go here I think you pun it okay uh I think you pun it but uh uh you may see him line up and try and draw Montana Tech offside you certainly don't want to give the home t to team any momentum here by uh by going for it and missing on Fourth and short so I'd expect a long extended uh uh snap count here trying to get Montana Tech off sides 20 uh now 15 seconds left to play here as fourth down and one and we're going to get a timeout and Montana Tech going to get a timeout with 12 seconds left to play here Montana Tech this is their first s seven our score the Diggs call a timeout right before the snap and a very entertaining opening quarter big play by the Tigers got them on the board first a long powerful drive by the Diggs TI us up and now you're just moving the furniture around wherever you think it'll go what is up with you well I got to have something to lean on here look at the crowd I didn't do that don't don't touch the TV Hy don't tell me I'm working as the antenna as well 12 seconds left to play in the opening quarter opening quarter here Montana Tech number 21 of the country in the preseason poll Georgetown of Kentucky number three and of course uh every coach in the country will tell you they they just don't believe the power polls especially that preseason poll but as a coach especially for the montata tech coaching staff you love where those rankings are at right now I haven't even looked at them great motivation I've got them right here for you if you'd like to there you go there's your top 25 brother all right so fourth down and one here for the Tigers Georg down to Kentucky up to the line of scrimmage tight end left one back at home is Neil twin tight moves right Montana Tech four wide long snap count Neil is going to get it he's going to get first down yardage and more across the 35 down to the 33 yd line he needed one and he will get eight good job on the left side of that offensive front by Georgetown they got good Mo movement there good wind back by Neil stayed behind his blockers we have 15 minutes in the books ladies and gentlemen 77 our score as the Diggs and the tigers are tied up with a timeout we'll take one we are back here in just a bit new cor is a a great company um they care about their people they care about the environment I've never been restricted right now the Tigers have four first downs they have run for 21 yards they have 89 yards receiving 11 plays 110 yards deep ball down the left side pass into the end zone knocked away had him again Warren yeah Warren was behind the defense ball got thrown maybe just a little late by sler and uh gave the defender a little chance to catch up that time but uh Warren got behind his Defender again de Mario King caught up that time to knock it away in the back of the end zone the Mario King transfer in a 6'3 210 lb junor out of California second down and 10 here for the Tigers Warren's a nice looking player 5'11 185 lb fifth year guy receiver in motion left to right across the formation hand off going to go to the tail back Neil boy he gets up over the top again he jumps down to the 26 yd line that's going to be a gain of six on second down boy his patience is just off the charts Beller went low on him that time he left over Beller couldn't keep his feet but a nice piece of running third by quickly to the line of scrimmage hand off to Neil again he's going a bounce left he has a little daylight he's inside the 20 down to the 17 strong running here by Neil that's going to move the chains here for the Tigers just underway here in the second quarter 1420 left to play both teams two timeouts remaining pay a little more attention to what Montana Tech's doing up front I don't see a lot of pressure sometimes you'll you'll run some guys in a little bit of stunt stuff just to plug just to plug gaps Force the uh Defender to either change direction in the back field or at the line of scrimmage and Montana Tech's just not getting a lot of penetration right now defensively got to pay so much respect to the talent of Neil we got a different tail back in here as of right now as Akerson is in at tailback and he will get the carry finds a gap he's inside the 10 keeps his balance down to the three yd line nice run that time by jir Akerson that's the danger senior that's the danger you start to bring pressure uh get a lot of guys at the line of scrimmage which Montana Tech did there inside Zone all you got to do is just get a flipper or a hat on on in on every Defender quickly to the line of scrimmage hand off to acret again he's going nowhere as they continue to run hurry up here Wyant gets up slowly for the Diggs but that one does come back a yard nearly two Wick come in on the on the tackle there along with a couple of his teammates they've been running uh a new safety a transfer de Mario King a 6 3 210lb junr out of Los alamot or MOS California that they're excited about this transfer he's lined up at safety he's a big kid you know nice tall uh physical defensive front guy but they've been walking him up to the line of scrimmage and bringing him occasionally tied up seven a piece second and goal from the four Ackerson goes in motion and the hand off to Neil he bounces right spins down to the one boy he is tough to take down I mean he keeps his balance so well it doesn't matter if he in the ball are facing forward or not that's where you got to get better if you're Montana Tech on the weak side of the the the the away side of that play the wind back you got to get guys to disengage from blocks to the away side there and get scraped down the line of scrimmage to erase any cut back he had a little bit of a cut back opportunity there they're doing a better job but that's where you got to be really good against this inside zone is not so much to the play side it's to the backside third down and one here Red Line Sports third down handoff going to go and it's hammered boy the handoff went to Neil he's going to lose a yard possibly two as he was hit violently on the right side of that defensive front yeah and that's Kell Beller stepping up there and meeting him and not losing an inch Beller the red shirt freshman out of Stevensville boy he has just had a phenomenal fall you know talking to the coaching staff there is so much excitement about the uh the fall that young man has put together I don't know if I like this decision either it'd be one thing if he had got to the line of scrimmage or maybe just in inside the one yd Lane but they lost more than a yard that time you got fourth and goal from the two I don't know if I like this decision if you're the Tigers play clock down to five out of the shotgun man goes in motion quarterback rolling right in trouble continuing to roll that one almost picked off Montana Tech is going to get the ball on Downs yeah that's a real risk three points yeah that's a real risk I mean uh yeah it's just one thing the difference of a yard or a yard and a half in any football level high school college or the NFL is huge and Montana Tech you can tell they're expecting Roll Out Pass there they know sler is not 100% comfortable in the pocket so you figure they're going to roll him out they ran him they chased him but they had a lot of guys run into that underneath stuff and they had everybody checked up and covered great job by DJ Brown putting the pressure on him chasing him across the back field and Montana Tech offense will take over at their two 1108 left to play here in the first half we're tied up seven a piece de coming out pretty heavy there they got Wyatt Alexander in tight to the wide side of the field and Torgerson in here tight to the short side of the field but heavy in between hand off going to go to Lander Smith he's going to bounce it out right he's across the five down to the eight yd line he's going to get some daylight a pick up a five nearly six not a bad option if you can take it is it Bo not remotely so Landers as of right now just grind it out here you're getting everything you want in the ground game not that you have to run it every time but you got to like what you're seeing out of that offensive front and Lander Smith in the back field and uh you know a good long drive here that ends in points can take a lot of the will out of that defense 1035 left to play in the first half man in motion they're going to pitch it out to the edge turning it up field looks like veter is in the ball game he's out to the 15 yd line boy it's nice to see him back just been riddled with just ridiculous injuries in his college career and going back to his high school career there at but high but it's nice to see him healthy and it's nice to see him getting Lander Smith the occasional break there in the back field you know I I as we take a look at the uh case construction instant replay here to veter I I had the opportunity he came in and sat in my office the other day just chatting with him and just hard not to like that he's just such a good kid uh his works so hard and it doesn't matter if you're talking to coach Samson or you go back to his high school coach and gray uh just the work he puts in day in day out just can't be beat first and 10 hand off going to go to Smith Lander Smith nice little stiff arm across the 20 out to the 26 yd line takes a good hit in The Shins as John Carter Meyers out there for the stop but not before another TDS first down you can draw play design all you want but he sees daylight he recognizes that the the the point of attack or the playside there isn't there as quickly as anybody I've ever seen regardless of his overall speed he sees it quick enough to reverse his field get out around the corner and get the sticks moved again up to the line of scrimmage first down and 10 here for the D digs again another TDS first down as out of the shotgun Blake felen it's been pretty quiet throwing the football thus far a steady diet on the ground they'll keep it that way Landers turns at the corner cuts it up field this time not much there ball Comes Out Boy it looks like tigers have it we'll see what the officials say here and that is the case ball comes out and jumping on that football I believe is John Carter Meers so that ball goes to the turf and the Tigers going to take over just outside the Montana Tech 25 yd line it's one of the toughest things about those guys who fight for every yard a lot a lot of times they lose track or lose both arms on that football and got in there in a heads up play gang tackling one guy stripping at the football John Carter John Carter Meers not only I think got the strip but he got on that football as well first down at 10 here for the Tigers three receivers right one back and the Tigers looking to add some points here tight end goes in motion as out of the shotgun is slaker five-step drop he's going to set up inside screen Neil gets it Neil gets past the first Defender tried to Vault over the second he's out to the 18 yd line but getting him around the ankles was met Whit Neil's leaving his feet enough here where you got to recognize that as Defender and uh and uh start inflicting a little punishment on the tackle lead 38 left to play here in the first half as we've seen Georgetown go into the hurry up often and now they're kind of taking their time getting up to the line of scrimmage we're tied up seven a piece as sler out of the shotgun Neil moves to his left hip two receivers on each side of the football and now we're going to get a change of play here it looks like as sler will move him around a little bit hand off to Neil and he'll get hit but he's going to be awful close to first down yardage if he doesn't have first down yardage it's going to bring up third down and very short they're waving them up first down so another fresh set of downs here for Neil on the ground and that will bring up first and 10 here for the Tigers ball at the Montana Tech 16 yd line so good field position here for the Tigers try and take advantage of the first turnover here of the day as up to the line of scrimmage luner out of the shotgun looking to his right the whole way in toward the end zone he wanted his tight end and that one's going to sail incomplete little bit of a collision at the goal line but ball clearly uncatchable just a throw away taking a chance they ran to a wing set out there uh you know play we used to run a ton back in the 90s just a quick out with your HB and in a flag route or a corner route with your tight end just trying to catch a little mix up and coverage Montana Tech covered it well second down at 10 here for the Tigers Georgetown 10 first downs so far on the day one back three receivers and a tight end on the right side Montana Tech showing pressure Man in Motion across the formation hand off going to go to the tailb he's across the 10 vaults up and gets hammered at the 5 yd line but that's going to be first down yardage it looks like and with the carry once again was uh looks like jir Akerson yeah they motion to a three receiver set and went back to the single side uh inside Zone just got uh you know they just getting to the next level they're they're getting guys up staying on their feet getting to the next level and Neil is seeing a lot of running room and that was Acron again in the tail back oh that wasn't Acron wasn't it first down to 10 Acron stays in at tail back well that Sun's going to be the rest of the yep it's going to be awful daylight hour anyway Acron in the back field twin tight moving left two receivers wide left Montana Tech shifts across accordingly sler out of the shotgun hand off to Acron Acron finds his Lane and boy he'll get just swallowed up and pushed backwards I've been very impressed with the running backs for Georgetown and their patience right here uh but Montana Tech doing a good job tying them up as we take a look here at the case construction instant replay he gets hit and there's just nothing there they run Darius Neil back onto the field here on second and five so second down and goal here from the five sler out of the shotgun long snap count here on second and five Neil goes in motion left trips receivers left play clock down to three sluder looking for the back of the end Zone it's tipped and incomplete as he goes crashing into our cameraman remarked been a pretty clean game penalty wise so far here today especially you always talk about that first game of the year we've had one flag and that was it third down and goal from the five just need to just need to stop them just need I'm I'm willing to think if they don't gain more than three years or three yards here you're going to see the field goal unit so Montana Tech just laidback so far in this series we'll see what they do here see if they bring any pressure but they've done a better job defensively at just staying at home and uh and leaving guys in coverage and in that second tier sler pushes Neil out in motion sler going to run right up the middle he is up to the goal line and gets hammered he is going to come up Shy as he gets just drilled by Demario king that's going to bring up fourth and goal from the one I think I realize why they're excited about Demario King you think that was a shot yeah and a good a great play call run motion to no back is a guy that just doesn't carry the football you know you look at his stats from a year ago has very few carries that's a tremendous call and the offense going to stay on the field again Tech running a little beef in there we got DJ Brown and Zack Newton in there tight right over the center fourth down and goal from the one heavy backfield and sler going to keep it he's going to get pushed the tush push from the eagles they don't have him in yet and both receiver or both officials are running in short of that goal line that's the case I think this is going to stay out Angel Sanchez here on the near side saying no DJ Brown comes out and says no and the rest of the Digger defense comes out and says no or Digger football they've had their back against the wall on Fourth and short two straight possessions and the defense holds off for that defense now offense go out and move the football grind it out you got 5 minutes to run the length to this field wouldn't be surprised if Montana Tech doesn't come out and try and sting him with a deep ball here right off the goal line you know we haven't seen a whole lot out of out of theland thus far you got to start by trying to place the ball in in Lander Smith's belly though you just have to he's been such a critical Factor offensively for Montana Tech so far here today just just enough to maybe put a hitch in somebody's backpedal get somebody out of coverage cross the field with one receiver and stretch it with the other see what we get here 15 carries 78 yards and it looks like we have a Timeout on the field ladies and gentlemen with the timeout we'll take one 453 left to play here in the first half we'll take a break we are back here to Alumni Coliseum right after this Now's do something I saw it as a great opportunity to develop a career you create your own destiny at new we're building something bigger out here at new we're back here once again as th dropping back looking for the Deep ball on first down one-onone down the sideline and that one's going to fall incomplete looking for Wyatt Alexander you and I during the break are going yeah they're going to take shot they're you've got to take a shot I'm telling you though you have to do it out of play action I I'm not going to sit here in second guess but uh yeah that Ball's got to start by touching the belly button of Landers Smith 452 left to play here in the first half Landers 15 carries 78 yards already here in the first half averaging 5.1 a carry 7 seven our score and I can see why they don't do it out of play action a lot of times you can get caught you know like in a pressure package or something like that with a guy out of position but to Landers Landers out to the five yd line he'll pick up four brings up third down and five here for the Diggs boy the sun's starting to set here it's warm it's uh the Long Shadows are going to get longer it's going to be a little hard to see here for a little bit I tell you what if it's north of 50° it's too hot for a football game you can pull the players if you want yeah it's uh it is warm out there right now the uh tailgate packed stands are packed and again thanks for joining us here on Digger Vision our copper game now you're probably going to see just a a three-man game here probably going to leave uh Logan Kennedy in here for Max pass protection Thelen brings Wyatt Alexander across the formation Blitz coming across and that one just Out Of Reach of Alexander and that's going to bring up fourth down here for Montana Tech as Alexander gets up and that will bring the punting unit in here for the Diggs 404 left to play here in the first half clock stops with the incomplete pass the Diggs unable to move the chains as they took over deep in their own uh deep in their own territory so Andrew almost the first team All-American will come out and knock this one away you know the threw that ball like he was hurried but I didn't really see anybody on top of him so almost standing at the back of the end zone Great snap to him and a low Line Drive pushing right retreating pulling it in at the 41 and stepping out of bounds great job by the bullet getting down there but stepping out of bounds was Dylan Warren after he brought it in good job coverage that time David Lowry a 510 185lb junor out of hell and I we remember watching him played when we went down during Co I I remember that game distinctly he had a great game in the secondary against but High 355 remaining here in this first half little chess match here 77 our score and the Tigers will take over as we take a look here number wise see what we have here for the Tigers right now slunaker 5 of 10 for 89 yards and on the ground Neil 10 carries for 52 yards luner rolling right he's going to air it up and almost it's picked off grabbing that pick and pulling it in is going to be Jaden down just trusting your Technique getting out of your break and getting up on the inside shoulder of that that receiver what a play Jaden Downs the senior out of Po catello hauls it in there is a flag down on that far side was did you see flag come in I didn't see a flag but I would think if it was anything it could be offensive pass interference but uh don't quote me on that I I could be completely wrong I thought I saw a flag but no they're not there's nothing that's going to be a turnover Montana tack will take over at the Tigers 41 Jaden Downs with the interception and we'll see the sudden change here we'll see if Montana Tech takes a shot got with 349 left to play here in the first half that is a really confident football play made by Montana Tech's left corner that time great job by Downs he's had a tremendous career the senior out of Pocatello first down at 10 one back at home Lander Smith Lander's going to get the carry bounces off tackle left little high knee across the 35 down to the 33 yd line Fired Up made my Walter Hart so happy with the high knees right there yeah fired up gain of seven looking at second and three everything in your playbooks in in play here six of a seven games a year ago we over 100 yards and he is fast approaching that here in the first half I wouldn't mind seeing a little play action here not so much for anything else but to maybe give Lander Smith a playoff you know get into a little bit of pass protection a good quick throw to a tight end or somebody in the inside slot second down and three one back at home play action here Thelen dropping back rolling right drops it off underneath pass complete and shoved out of bounds Snider there you go Dylan Snider the be products and that is going to be a first down here yeah that's a good call get the ball out of Smith's gut for a second just a a good save completion and also to get a little bit more confidence uh into Blake theland you know he's you know I'm not going to say he struggled he hasn't got to throw the ball here a ton yet today and so get him more in tune with his game so that whole playbooks open the second half two receivers wide left you have Wyatt Alexander wide left Kyle terson in the slot one back at home as Lander Smith heavy formation to the right and now Kyle goes in motion they fake the hand off they got him drop back across the middle floated up that one caught nice catch inside the 10 ball comes out it goes through the back of the end zone going to be a touch back that's going to be a Touchback I think that ball gets knocked out did he have possession might be the only question well without replay I think they're going to rule possession here cuz he got into a move and we do have replay available now the frontier conference has replay available so they might go over to the booth and look at this give you a chance to eat oh food 236 left to play here in the first half Jason you get an opportunity to give us a look at that ring on the field is it there's a fumble at the 8 yard line the ball went through the end zone and out of bounds therefore forward it's a Touchback it is a touch back by the officials all right here we go they'll queue up the replay going across that ball is brought in yeah he certainly had possession of that and it gets punched out of the 9 yd line good call by the officials thank you Jason nice job on the replay our crew here doing an outstanding job as that one I I felt like it was knocked out before he turned up field you know you you kind of have the the memory change and that ball knocked away from Dylan Snyder and a tremendous call by the officials right on top of that that's going to be a touch back and the Tigers uh dodge a bullet yeah you still have to feel good offensively for Montana Tech after that you know that just a few plays after a huge interception by Jaden Downs everything you looked at that that series worked right it worked the way you wanted to see it worked so you have to feel good regardless of the turnover uh and your defense is playing well hopefully they get you a stop here and maybe a chance running your two-minute offense first down and 10 here for the Tigers after the Touchback they take over at their 20yd line hand off going to go to Neil he'll try and stretch the corner and he's going down that's going to be a loss of five and once again it's Matt witcom he's playing really good football he reminds you a lot of the great ones we've seen on that edge at Montana Tech over the last 15 years take a look at this but he's just not missing he steps up in that Gap gets past the defender and it's done deal does a great job with what they call hand play taking on lead blockers knocking away hands keeping his outside arm free getting up field and making a tackle second down at 15 here for the Tigers and they're going to let the clock run here play clock down to 12 two minutes left to play in the first half Montana Tech knows they know just get a stop here get a time out get a Stop Force the kick away I mean if you got 60 yards in a minute and a half or whatever it is uh that's all day regardless of the timeout situation in college football we've got a Timeout on the field so we'll take one thanks for joining us here on Digger Vision or Digger football taking on the Tigers out of Georgetown Kentucky we're back after this it's important for bu Auto to partner with Community Partners such as Montana and Montana Tech Athletics we're going to do great things together [Music] [Music] hey welcome back here once again to Bob Greenfield at Alumni Coliseum Paul Pisco Ron hasket here as the Diggs getting their season underway with the buz saww out of Kentucky and here we come back out second down and long after montech takes the timeout Man in Motion is Warren dropping back is sluder sluder boy rifle shot picked off at the 35 yd line it's second interception down the left side to the house touchdown Montana Tech they get in Jaden Downs with his second pick of the day and Montana Tech's defense puts him on top how about the lead blocks he gets tell Arthur's aware of it right away gets out in front a ton of guys down there just getting a piece of somebody had a lot of room over there and was able to catch it Corral it stay on his feet and get to the house 147 left to play here in this first half Montana Tech grabs their first lead of the day as we take a look here at the case construction inant replay he goes to the sidelines I thought he was going to get shoved out but look at him reach that ball out Jad Downs ladies and gentlemen hello boy the Digger d right now playing awfully well so the kicking unit is in Timmy begs the power of Tim begs uh Jaden Downs obviously feeding off of the power of Tim begs who was an outstanding defensive back in his time here for for coach Bob Green yeah there's a guy that could get out of his back pedal only going to the fridge so the kicking unit is in for the pat he was a big-hearted guy though he usually went for all of us good call big hands could hold a lot of beverages yeah so the kicking unit is out the kick is up the kick is through Montana Tech goes up 14 to7 origer here on Digger Vision it's copper game presented by Rocky Mountain Credit Union and we are having ourselves a day thanks for joining us not only for Montana Tech but throughout the country out of Georgetown I had I had a great opportunity to talk to a lot of folks from Georgetown and Kentucky um and I I'm just impressed they they've all been so kind to me they've been so good you know calling about tickets and tailgate spots and everything else and I'm telling you they have been so good to talk to and it just I don't know you just you love that football family doesn't matter if it's in Montana or Idaho or Oregon or Kentucky we're all here for the same things it's a good area of the country that southwestern United States is as friendly of people as you will find anywhere and uh I run into a lot of kentuckians you know in my my day job you know out at the the coal mine out and Roundup they got a lot of Kentucky and West Virginia people out there and they are the salt of the earth so you're ready for the the saddest thing you're going to hear all day sure both my dogs are from Kentucky nice that that's a different level of uh of saying but yeah both of them are wasy is in the building ladies and gentlemen wasy Degan little fella one of my favorite humans in the entire world wearing his pink shirt that he still wore when he was an offensive line you do you still have that shirt at all all right we're going to talk to wasy at halftime case you missed the memo the emad club is up and running full steam and we're going to talk about how you could be part of emad some of the things you can receive being part of Amad and also we're going to talk about day one as Shannon Sullivan Pisco will join us and we'll talk day one uh coming up at halftime as well so the kicking unit is in and the kick end over end the return will start at the seven yd line across the 1520 25 out big daylight out to the 40 great job holding that one up I didn't recognize Montana K was kicking from the 20 yard line I'm guessing yeah the the celebration situation probably got in their way so those there are only two penalties so far are celebration penalties no reason to be excited you just scored on a defensive touchdown that's that's says something though I mean good coaching good players when H first ball game of the year and the only thing we've had penalty wise are celebration penalties and maybe we should go ahead and get rid of that and let them celebrate a little bit they're letting them celebrate everywhere else on the planet I don't know why they don't in the frontier first down and 10 so the Tigers two timeouts a buck 40 left to play in the first half three receivers lefts Montana Tech showed press now they'll back out a little bit slunaker across the middle pass is complete tremendous play again nice job to Mario King yeah Montana Tech that time just they lined up with four but just rushed three that time Anthony Oaks he he took a step up field and dropped back into coverage so they had eight guys in coverage not much for sler to look at there boy once this Montana Tech defense kind of got comfortable yeah they're playing they're playing really well they're playing good ball right now without having to bring much pressure second and 11 fourman defensive front and back will move out to the right side in is Acron once again two receivers right one to the left long snap count for sler pressure coming sler almost hauled down now he's going down Mont Tech will get their first sack of the season and hopping up and getting that one is going to be Wyatt DeVos yeah DeVos and that early pressure that time good move at the line of scrimmage by Anthony Oaks and got sler uncomfortable trying to escape and uh DeVos got to polish him off Oaks out of Great Falls and DeVos coming by way of Great Falls as well DeVos a red shirt freshman I can't understand for the life of me why Montana Tech isn't taking a timeout here they show two on the board the clock down to 20 the Tigers will start with a football in the second half and it looks like they're fine letting this one go down so the play clock is going to hit zero and the Tigers will call a timeout here with 10 seconds remaining here in this first half so the Diggs number 21 of the country and the Tigers number three in the country and we have had a very interesting first half it feels like both teams have had plenty of opportunity to grab momentum and just run and then it it just trickles away yeah and their respective right though they've made plays both teams on defense y you know they got the the Tigers got the good strip on Landers Smith after the great goal line stand and Montana Tech answered back got another great goal line stand and in a couple interceptions by Jaden down so far really the difference here in the first half of this football game one for six so again thanks for joining us here at the half we're going to talk to was did did your third down in the long here 10 seconds remaining in the first half wayy Dean will join us we're going to talk about Amad and then shanon suan Pisco will join us and we'll discuss day one which is coming up quickly so 10 seconds on the game clock here as they await our official to put the ball down it goes live and now sler out of the shotgun one back three receivers moving right side is Akerson slaker going to hand it off to Ackerson he bounces through the first line gets across the 40 out to the 45 yd line that's going to be a pick up of eight and that is going to do it here well no we do get a stoppage JoJo Wallace in on the time out on the field tackle playing a little nickel back in there 6' 185b Jun out of Mesa Arizona first time we've called his name today Joe Joe's new addition here Montana Tech was just a little lighter in the defensive front more of a pass rush defensive front that time you sure give up a y we get a timeout with 1 second remaining so fourth down here for the Tigers 1 second left to play in the first half oh now they put the clock out to 4 seconds so they add a little time 4 seconds remaining here in the first half Montana Tech leading 14-7 and we'll have numbers coming up at the half of course again we're going to talk to wayy Degan and we are going to talk emad we're going to talk day one and it is football season holy moly again remember the Diggs are very quiet at home through September no home games three Road games and one by we but that said they will be at home a lot in October and November if you want to get your season tickets to join us for the remainder of the Season uh make sure to do so and after the timeout they come up to the line of scrimmage wait monana oh there we go and now the digs will call a timeout yeah Tech out their punt uh their punt return team in that is the case so they run out yeah Kieran was in there torguson was back deep so fourth down and now the defensive unit will come back in all teams have a defensive safe return this would uh coach green used to call this Hawk return you know just your base defense in there with one return specialist cont attack for any kind of Ru fake or anything like that so they'll run their defense back out here for a safe return and we get a flag down as the wh hat chatting it over here sun setting it'll be lovely when that thing goes behind the hillside over there so an additional fiveyear oh actually going to be whoa it's going to be a fresh set of downs here for the Tigers 15 yard penalty for what did you see it I did not so Montana Tech use both of their timeouts there think you're about to see Jaden Down's third interception of the half so first down and 10 here for the Tigers a little different situation here at the Montana Tech 40 yd line 4 seconds remaining in the first half out of the shot gun dropping back turning right now in trouble as sler going to get sacked again second time here on the day and the first half going to end with a sack as domy will haul it down the red shirt freshman out of Missoula and Montana tack will go to the locker room with a seven-point lead 14-7 the Diggs up over the Tigers as the number 21 team in the country in Montana Tech up over the top of the Tigers out of Georgetown of Kentucky as I mentioned earlier we have wasy Degan in the house we're going to talk to him and talk about emad and how you can help out and be part of that also we're going to talk day one with Shannon Sullivan Pisco all that coming up in just a few stay close newor is a a great company um they care about their people they care about the environment I've never been restricted to to fall in a box I've Never Been Told that I can't do something I saw it as a great opportunity to develop a career you create your own destiny at new core we're building something bigger out here at new Corp come join us tridon caseih.com [Music] hey we're back here once again as we take a look at Montana Tech the top of the arch there thanks for joining us here on Digger Vision as the Diggs leading 14 to7 after 30 minutes of Play WA SE Degan is in the house was how are you brother doing good doing good Paulie you have uh you have put in some work my friend lot of lot of phone calls there you have been on the phone a lot you've had some early morning texts you've uh you've got under some people's skin a little bit you've ruffled some feathers and you've raised some significant money for emad club and Montana TCH yeah good news was we got a word from Shannon Samson that we crested at the 100,000 Mark today with over 60 members that's fantastic let's let's start with emad for those obviously we have some people in Kentucky we have a lot of people uh Digger fans from around the country let's start with what what is emad emad Club used to be formerly known as a touchdown club for uh former players to get together have a little tailgate section and uh get sideline passes all that kind of fun stuff and it was just kind of a tight niip group we kind of came together and figured we needed to get the uh younger generation the post screen guys involved and this is kind of how we're going to do it what what ises emit stand for every man every time all day that's the deal right there so we used to scream it at the top of our lungs running on the field every game let let's talk about what you know you uh I mean you're basically the reason this thing restarted talk about what what the impetus was and and what got kind of got you going to uh to to get the Amad club and and like touchdown Club Going more uh well basically started at this game last year a bunch of guys got here and it kind of wasn't what we were envisioning it going I mean touchdown club's been around here since I think uh 99 2000 they redid it a little bit in 2004 or five did stuff there and got a trailer going stuff like that you know stuff just get stagnant every now and again you got to add a little add a little touch to it and uh we kind of figured this is the way to go and between uh four or five close friends of mine that encouraged me to do it and then talking to the older guys and talking with stepping and coach Samson and all them guys it sounds like funding is a crucial part of this program and we we we already done big things uh uh we got six iPads that we purchased before we were even operation and uh we got them on the sideline helping out the football program we got a lot of practice gear that they couldn't afford that we uh stepped up as a lni new jugs machine yeah some something about they got a throw a machine and spent $4,000 on it I wasn't too enthused about but hopefully they catch a ball yeah it's uh I I don't think I'm going to ask you a question and I I I I don't think you're going to feel it that way but from my perspective I I feel like I part of me is surprised but then part of me is not um I I can't imagine you were surprised at all about the way this thing is crested and just absolutely started to roll no cuz when we first started uh about first of December last year after the season ended I started calling stepping and uh coach green was a big aspect of it and we just started putting together a board of guys that were from all aspects I mean our oldest one's Doug Abbott Dr Abbot I mean he's from the 1973 years old I believe walking around here in a walker probably diaper and then we got our our youngest guys probably uh Hunter Sparks and then uh Spencer shock some of them guys me they're youngest we got couple years out we got 16 guys on the board and they're from all eras all moderations everybody's got their own visions and stuff well and that's that's smart I mean because the core of this and the core of our alumni base is is Bob Green's guys you know I mean Bob Green created something that is special but that's not taking anything away from Chuck Morel or coach Samson though he is their guys are also going hey look look at what's going on uh and this thing doesn't continue to roll without the support of the Morell guys without the support of Coach Samson guys and and keep moving forward no cuz like coach Greener guys ain't going to be around forever so we got to pass this torch on and get rolling that is the deal so uh let's let's talk about it more as you mentioned we just crested the $100,000 congratulations if somebody wants to join the emad club uh what's what are some of the things they can expect and how can they do so uh basically right now we're on Facebook yesterday we went viral with Coach green giving us uh talk about it we're on Facebook we got the foundation websites where you actually go to join yep we got different levels there's four different levels there's the 500 the, 2500 5,000 it's all 100% upfront tax deductible we backload it with gifts on the back end if you want more information I don't know how much legality able to talk about for the tax purposes and stuff like that we you get a hold of Facebook yeah go to Facebook look up emad same on Twitter look it up you can get the link you can go if if you want to join and become a member you can do so yeah you'll start to see a lot of our swag running around I mean we're we've only been running for two and a half weeks almost three weeks and we've got a few shirts and sweatshirts running around today we don't have any hats hopefully we got them good thing we got a whole month of September off to get our together you imagined the idea that that you in 3 weeks and obviously this is a longer process but once the rubber hit the road and got going you we at 100 Grand in like 20 days yeah yeah that's a that's pretty good but this started in December but there's a lot of leg work and stuff like that we envisioned rolling it out in first of July but we got pushed back till August with uh some technicalities and stuff like that making sure stuff was done right that's the deal wasy you're the man you'll always be one of my favorites and uh make sure uh to for people if you want to join the Amad Club if we've got faithful around uh you know log on to Facebook log on to Twitter look it up you can get the link it'll bring you to the foundation and you can sign up different levels different uh things that you'll get out of it and different ways that more importantly uh that you can help Digger Athletics and especially Digger football yeah one of these days we'll have a paint game oh that's the deal right there wait what did you wear a pink shirt under your uniform every game at Montana Tech pretty close I had a couple pink shirts in my thing that I never thought I'd have any use for them so I started wearing at practice and football games it kind of took us a hit I loved it uh wayy Degan ladies and gentlemen make sure to look up emad become a member and help out Digger football the Diggs leading 14 to7 we're at the setting it is never been restricted you want to Jo you know look it up on Facebook look it up on Twitter go to the foundation website and also the foundation website L gentle uh day one ladies and gentlemen joining us been that long since you worked in radio that I have to adjust your microphone it's it's been n years since I've worked in radio Paul um day one is right around the corner of course day one celebrating the the opening of Montana Tech on September 11th 1900 and uh it has it is just ballooned into a thing of beauty for this campus I mean the good that day one has done is just staggering it's it's pretty awesome I mean the numbers are staggering so over the the seven years that we've done it this will be the eth um $1.7 million that has been raised um over 4,000 gifts that have come in we've impacted about 112 areas on campus um and it does like you said it it has its own momentum when we started folks weren't really sure what it was and now it's really become an opportunity to find out what's going on campus the good work that's happening the good work that people want to do and um opportunities for folks to get involved with it the the uh the opportunities are incredible and and I love going through them because you can go by Department you can go by uh look at what each department is trying to raise money for what the the good they're trying to do the ways they're trying to help their students in our communities uh and every year right you get blown away when you start kind of you know going through the list I think everybody kind of gets driven to it for one or two things yeah you know I mean I if I'm speaking personally I'm I'm driven by mining the the mining team will always be at the top of my list sure um obviously Athletics I don't know they're there's that very near and dear to my heart this Athletics thing uh well and interesting that you mention those too since they they are usually the horse race each year for the departmental challenge Scott I love you I love mining you're going to lose those are those are big words you're going to lose Scott uh but every Department that but what I was going to say and I got sidetracked horribly I'm sorry was that you kind of go in going I I'm interested in this and helping here but if you start looking at other departments and you start realizing what they're doing and what they what they're looking for the funds for it's it's really breathtaking some of the projects that are out there well and some of the opportunities that we've added over the years there's a page that features all of our student clubs that are participating so one page but the opportunity to support over 20 clubs that are there and those those clubs are really some of the areas where students get their the handson kind of um Sweat Equity portion of of the learning that they do here at Montana Tech so it's definitely one to try out there's a scholarship page um a lot of the programs now have multiple areas that they're raising funds for and then uh the best part now is that we have matches that apply to nearly um every program that's out there as we sit right now and we are two weeks out the event is coming up on the 12th and 13th of September okay um you know that's for anyone that that isn't familiar with day one it called that because it happens either on or adjacent to the first day of classes for Montana Tech that happened on the 11th of September in 1900 we're coming up on our 120 25th anniversary next year and so uh this year happening on the 12th and the 13th um as we sit right now we have $435,000 in matching opportunities that will be available and so that means that if you give $25 your the the the the amplification of your gift is 50 you give a 100 it's 200 if you've never given before you might have matches on top of matches on top of matches you know for our students they give not only do they qualify for the student match they qualify for the firsttime donor match there's going to be individual matches for uh the clubs it really is pretty impressive the impact that happens um in pretty short order yeah and that is the truth and again it's coming up September 12th and 13th uh year eight year eight I I I was truly like as as we were getting ready I was trying to do the math and I'm like I I was I was going long I was thinking it was nine or possibly 10 uh but it's just uh been incredible and eight years and and for athletics um a little bit more expansive this year you know in the past there's been a single Focus I think there'll be some opportunities to give as far as the Digger fund which is you know the the the one that is perennially most important it's the the annual fund immediately Expendable funds it helps to um the to uh enhance the facilities I mean this Turf is incredible that's a result of fundraising to the Digger fund um additionally we'll have uh the Digger owed uh Ryan and Lisa Lance of course graciously offering up a million dooll match for student athlete uh scholarships and then I think that we'll have some opportunities for the programs which is is pretty fantastic too but um yeah again the countdown is on yeah you're going to see a lot of it over social media but if somebody wants to how much can they preview right now is there is there availability in that so the best thing that you can do right now sign up as an ambassador you can pick what um your specific passion and focus is if you want to promote the entire day you can if you specifically want to pick Athletics you can we'll have um awards for the top Ambassador and uh who won that last year that would be Mr Matt Ste oh that's right I forgot two years in a row two years in a row as a matter of fact um you get a dedicated link your link you can actually change it to your name so it can be day one mtech uh.edu Pisco oh if you want to okay um you send that out and when somebody gives using that link it tracks the number of gifts that come in specifically from uh the link that you've shared and it helps you become kind of an ambassador right an ambassador and a steward and a cheerleader and uh just kind of sharing the good news that's happened at Montana Tech if uh somebody wants to take a look give us the website give us where they can go day one. mtech.edu and and then projects will go live on the 9th of September um let's let's talk real quick we have a moment let's talk about that first class 1900 yes um give us the rundown of uh the the breakdown of that first class here at Montana Tech what were the first two uh there were there were two programs correct there were two programs mining engineering and electrical engineering fairly self-serving in the sense that well we're in bu Montana we needed mining engineers and we needed to Electrify the M those were our first two programs okay and uh how many uh individuals were in that first class 39 students that's impressive two of which were women the first two mining engineers in the country and the first person to register period was a girl yeah yeah Clara Clark you know coincidentally I mean this is aoo of nothing but her granddaughter is going to come visit me next week Louise boy is her name she's in California and so Clara's granddaughter is is coming for a visit next week I can actually feel your giddiness I know I'm I'm I'm pretty excited it's pretty awesome well again you'll see a lot for day one on social media and uh you know uh throughout of course go digger.com and mtech.edu uh and again uh give us the website if people want to check check it out again September 12th and 13th September 12th and 13th it'll kick off at 6:00 a.m. on the 12th and go until 11:59 and change on the 13th and you can find it at day one. mtech.edu shannnon Sullivan Pisco with Montana Tech Foundation Shannon thank you thank you Paul appreci appreciate it uh we're at the half the digs up 14-7 over the Tigers and we'll take a break we'll come back we'll quickly run through the numbers we'll get you ready for the second half after this e e we are back here once again as we get ready for the second half as Montana Tech taking on the Tigers out of Georgetown Kentucky Ron hasket is in a fight with his headphones and I almost thought the headphones were going to get you Shannon went right-handed on me I had to switch him back to left-handed I felt like it was the sugar show taking you to the to that shed there for a moment uh let's let's run real quickly through this first half here uh some team numbers here uh for the uh tigers as of right now nine first downs they've run the ball 21 times 61 yards on the ground for the Tigers if you're Montana Tech I I don't know what's beyond ecstatic but you are there whatever that is well I think that's a defense that learned a lot in the first half between the first and second quarter and that's good that's a good response uh they didn't have to bring a lot of pressure or stunt packages they just had uh guys uh learning what they were dealing with beating blocks and making plays you know and that's a tier thing it's a four-man surface but they're getting down the line of scrimmage on the backside now and uh they're eating up blocks and keeping blockers off Kell Balor off Kade Wyant or Cole Wyant excuse me Cole Wyant there in that second level and and you see guys like gonzer uh coming up to make plays as well but that's a team that's learned a lot on defense here throughout the first half and it's paying dividends two huge goal line stops in the first half you don't see those very often anymore Tigers run 34 offensive plays for 149 yds Montana Tech 11 first downs ads of right now they've run the ball 18 times for 93 yards uh they have 52 yds through the air as of right now uh and again they have run 29 y or 29 offensive plays 145 yards for the Diggs so as these teams get ready to roll here in the second half the Tigers will start with the football and uh the Sun is going to be an issue until it sets for us so bear with us as it's it's nasty yeah I think it's an issue uh for everybody but the guys on the field it's now low to where it shouldn't be an issue on the field all right so the teams getting ready to roll Montana Tech will kick off here to the Tigers and all those smarty pantes out there in the tailgate end overend kick five yards deep bobbled and picked up at the one forced to return out across the five to the seven yd line a second bobbled kick we have seen here tonight one for each side yeah I was going to say mistakes in the return game out of both teams and the coverage units uh both made them pay Montana Tech able to get on that Return Man down inside the 10 yd line tough place to start this second half of downs for the tiger offense first down and 10 here for the Tigers as they will come up to the line of scrimmage and get ready to roll here just underway here in the third quarter Montana Tech leading 14-7 pretty equal ball game Montana Tech running the football a little bit better here through the first 30 minutes and it looks like slun changing the play at the line of scrimmage two receivers right one to the left Montana Tech four up to the line of scrimmage sler going to hand it off to his tail back Neil trying to find something and there is nothing good job by Oaks right there at the point of attack and then eating up blocks standing up offensive lineman and and W just able to take two steps forward and finish off the play second down and nine here for the Tigers so again just a gorgeous night here in the mining City packed house we were expecting an absolute brawl and we have not been uh that has rang true here so far yeah it's certainly been an interesting game tight end in motion sler out of the shotgun Neil in the back field Montana Tech showed press they'll back out Sanchez off the corner slunaker pressure coming they're going to run backside screen again Neil gets it he's across the 152 out to the 22 yd line that backside screen that's the third time they've run it and it's been very successful here today it right into an outside Blitz that's kind of a dream scenario if you're that offense throwing the throwing the back screen right into an oncoming outside David Blitz uh caught Montana Tech and it's not that Blitz is always or uh screen's always great against Blitz because you usually have a man assignment on the back but that is the one guy that you got to pick off in that off as an offensive front guy you got to find the guy responsible for that back they were uh the tiger offense was able to do that and pick up a first down 1350 left to play here in the third quarter Montana teag leading 14 to seven we'll keep his updated on the time here as we roll on through trips receivers left Neil in the backfield with sler Garrick slunaker a 6'2 junr out of Indiana and a new tail back in sler going to swing it left and we're going to get whistles of Plenty here a little quick start false start out of that offensive front certainly looked that way d game offense number four is that first non-excessive celebration penalty yeah I think so I mean that's only our third flag right third or fourth there hasn't been many no there has not both teams really doing a nice job here yeah we had that one illegal formation in the first half on Montana T that was it good call First and 15 here after the penalty tight end goes in motion hand off to the tail back trying to fight for some room out to the 20 yd line a gain of three boy it's been impressive today it there are times where it feels like the tigers are going to bounce a hole and and really break one and they get they've been caught from behind several times yeah and they're getting that you know just that the the ability to change uh The Backs Direction at the line of scrimmage allowed Oaks to get down the field he scraped down the line of scrimmage and was able to run the back down from behind from the other side that's the kind of active defensive end play you need to stop that zone running attack 1257 left to play here in the third quarter Montana Tech and Georgetown of Kentucky two long story programs georgetown's first game 1893 and uh they lost to Kentucky in their opener 80 to zero ouch hello uh Montana Tex I mean we might as well go there Montana Tech first game 1902 they played three games that year they played the Grizz twice the University of Montana lost the first time I want to say 20 to Z and then like 15 to zero but weat beat the cats that year I love I mean the history of these programs and just kind of a uh like I said earlier it's a rarity that we get a program in here that has more history than Montana Tech and you certainly love to see it I'm trying to pick up a number of the of the tiger that's down and there are full units out there with him hopefully that young man going to be all right 1257 left to play here in this third quarter it is copper game packed house certainly always one to look forward to every year I wonder how they draw out there in the in Kentucky for their games uh do you ever because you look at some average attendance numbers correct I if I remember correctly I think they're in the 3000 area gotcha yeah I think they they have they're they very well attended I mean and they're and rightly so I mean everybody wants to watch a winner and Georgetown and Kentucky is a winning program yeah I mean we we certainly know that and they're going to get the ambulance out both sides taking a knee here there just isn't anything worse in sports it wasted no time either you know they yeah I'm wondering if it's a maybe a severe leg injury of some sort you know it's so as we talked earlier Montana Tech they generally don't have that luxury of you know multiple carts you know like in the NFL and in in Big Time College where they got that cart with the big bench on the back they can sit them down but they did roll this uh uh Georgetown Kentucky tiger player over and it looked like they were talking to him and stuff but uh look like it might be a lower body injury as we mentioned earlier Montana Tech enjoying this game here at home because well then they go on the road for a while they uh three games on the road couple of them long road trips and then a bye before they get home they go to Carol and then they're off and then they're uh uh Eastern in in college Idaho in no particular order correct and boy how's that for an opening four Georgetown of Kentucky Carol College then you go to Eastern Oregon which I mean who knows what they're going to present when they play at home and then like I say College of Idaho who was also uh top time excuse me a top five team in the country um that is uh it's about as hard of a four game starters you're going to find Pest Control I was going to say our extermination business is still uh doing very well currently we've got a pretty nice Harvest here so far Hornets I kid you not I have been in this in this building for probably 80 hours in the last 5 days and I haven't seen a hornet yet and we have like nine of them in here so far today so what's uh let's talk front deer conference a little bit you know I showed the top 25 is there that we have several teams in the frontier in there so let me let me give you that the the preseason coaches poll for the frontier College of Idaho won they got seven first place votes Western is two they have one first place vote Southern Oregon is receiving votes in the top 25 got a first place vote they're third in the frontier conference coaches preseason poll Montana Tech 22 in the country is fourth in the pole Carol College Rocky Mountain Eastern Arizona Christian and MSU Northern uh the preseason coaches poll in the frontier conference yeah I mean it's uh The Usual Suspects uh other than Southern Oregon hasn't been really in the mix in the last say handful of years they were really good at the end of the year yeah but other than that I mean if you look you know pick a number College Idaho Western Tech Carol and Rocky for the last three seasons on any given Saturday any team could beat the other you know so yeah I just look at the ones that got experience coming back in a lot of areas but especially quarterback you know Western returns their quarterback they're going to be tough I don't I can't remember what college Idaho had back there but uh Montana Tech offensively last year uh you know there's a lot of teams in the conference that would have took that offense of Montana techs you know top to bottom uh they had a great year they just had trouble getting stops when they needed to get them but Carol's got Perka back for his senior season and uh yeah I don't know I I just can't remember much about Rocky and much about the College of Idaho other than the fact that they were good you know College of Idaho is just one of those teams that is they're just salty you know at every position they just don't you don't look at them and go you can pick on them here you know and it feels like since they've really joined the conference that's kind of been their MO like they have just been really solid at almost every aspect of the game in the interior a lot of you know they're a lot like Carol College they always have a really good big active offensive front they're always uh real active and big athletic and the defensive front and they've always got good skill guys you know they always have a a real capable quarterback a a strong host of backs in the back field seems like they always have a good tight end right you know and then I don't know you you're starting to name them all right but they keep the cupboard full I guess is the is the answer to the question year after year you know you go as as we you kind of track the conference you look at Carol College through their Heyday there was a whole lot of Idaho on that roster right College of Idaho restarts football after being away for you know several decades they get football back underway they recruit their home base and well look at that they're awfully successful so they don't have to go far down there looking for talent they really a lot of really good high school teams yeah every every uh team in this Frontier conference benefits from uh the talent throughout Idaho in fact I just heard from my brother he's got us tuned in from Boise hello which brother my brother Mark he's uh he's down there and they go to he goes to a few College Idaho games every year his his uh in-laws are Alberts and Alum okay and uh it's a fun atmosphere it is you don't have to sell much on him they got a beer garden they do I have a rodeo grounds stuck right next to it yeah that's we've had some fun down there there's been some exceptional football games down there so as they continue to work on the young man on the field again thanks for joining us here at as uh we make our way through a Thursday copper game presented by Rocky Mountain Credit Union it's taking a while here they looks like they may be trying to get him maybe immobilized yeah and then placed on the the gurnie and wheeled into the ambulance hopefully it's all precautionary and nothing really serious yeah that hopefully everything going to be all right for that young man so as you mentioned the Digs at Carol College next week I think uh certainly a lot of eyes and Minds go back to the last time Montana Tech and Carol College played we basically knew whoever was going to win that football game was was going to get into the playoffs right there was no questions whoever was going to win was going to the playoffs I don't think we ever would envisioned that we were going to host to be completely honest yeah I didn't dream of no no way in fact I was still surprised you know when you thought they that Montana Tech would get in just wasn't convinced um I think the central Washington game right just was huge I mean it was just it played such a big factor because Central Washington goes all the way to the quarterfinals in the division 2 you know playoffs um that win at their place is is a big big win so they get the young man loaded up his teammates come over he's got a hand up and we wish him the best yeah you never like to see that that uh what is that let's talk about the psyche of that when you're on the sidelines I don't care if you're a teammate or not teammate that that changes the way that your mindset is in a football game yeah I mean he's his players his teammates came over and he sent a quint message to him and they'll be fired up I uh come out and and try and get back and you know get the lead in this game and hold on to her for a victory and and win for your teammate I mean it it sounds maybe a little indifferent but uh that's how football players operate you know just another level of motivation um you know it's it just takes a lot of motivation to play this game I tell people that all the time you talk about high emotion I mean can you imagine like in the in at any level but you get into this major college in NFL football you know you get a 185 200 PB cornerback coming up to take on a 240lb running back at full speed and they don't bat an eye I mean you've got to have something loose in your cage to be willing to do that and uh they do it time and time again it's just it's uh it's incredible you know the guts that that a lot of those players have you know top to bottom you look at a running back having to pick up somebody like Von Miller off the edge you know I mean I mean think about how crazy it is it's there will be a two-minute some of these offseason events that happen like Aaron Donald running races against X NFL running back and beaten him you know he's retired now but a lot of people think he still has like four or five Good Seasons left in him 1257 left to play here in this third quarter as the teams work on getting warmed up as do the officials in case you're wondering and you don't know who Aaron Donald is he's a 63 200 or excuse me 300 lb tackle for the Rams a defensive tackle I've got the 300 lb not the 63 right yeah uh real quickly number wise as we take a peek here for Georgetown as of right now they have on 37 plays 1655 yards sler is 7 to 14 uh for 100 yards he has been sacked twice he has been picked off twice on the ground Neil has 12 carries for 53 yards he's averaging 3.9 to carry uh receiving wise Warren has two catches for 72 in the lone score Neil with three catches for 23 and Miller has two catches for five yards on the other side for Montana Tech uh the Diggs have 11 first downs right now they run 29 plays for 145 yards Blake Thelen pretty quiet 5 of 11 52 yards on the day no turnovers no sacks uh excuse me on the ground Lander Smith 17 carries 88 yards he has one touchdown receiving Kyle terson three catches for 38 Snider two catches for 14 Alexander been targeted twice yep so we'll see how that changes here in the second half look at one silver lining I guess for the delay that Sun's going to set here a little quicker yeah be able to see the field here a little better all right Field's all shaded now so I had a whole slew of smarter people than we are send us texts during halftime that the penalty was on Coach Samson for calling back toback timeouts can't do it anymore gotcha so thank you to I'm pretty pretty sure everyone with the last name Thatcher texted me and none of them called me anything nice sler out of the shot gun much bigger back in the back field this time two receivers right one of the lefts looks like Ree Johnson in the back field slunaker rolling right he's going to air it up to the sidelines and that one's going to be sailed free incomplete third down and 12 got to easily see why the bigger back in the back field he's leading on the roll out pass and looks like might get a little bit of a late penalty on asoul Blitz in that is was it rough on the pass or just a personal foul it was rough on the pass the passer we get an eye on that there brother on our replay let's see if we uh can get a look before they get to the line of scrimmage here all good and you just never know I mean it's uh it's gotten to the point where they're all protected pretty well so and maybe it was maybe it wasn't I was looking after the throw downfield to see if he had anything first down to 10 here after the penalty ball it their 35 yd line they get out of a hole there third down and 13 becomes first and 10 sluder hand off play action looking for the Deep ball right side airs it up has a man on the slant that one is going to go a little too far out in front in complete looking for Matt Miller again good coverage that time Jordan DS and man coverage on the Deep post step for step in good position on the upfield shoulder of the receiver and uh ball just thrown out of the outstretched hands it would have taken a heck of a a a throw and a better catch to get a completion inside Downs there second down and 10 here for the Tigers Montana Tech leading 14 to7 sluder 7 to 15 on the day and the sun almost fully set thankfully three receivers rights one left sler second down and 10 Montana Tech four up on the the line of scrimmage showing Blitz from up top they'll bring it hand off to the tailb across the 40 out to the 42 as still out there a tailback is Ree Johnson a junior out of Jefferson Georgia 5'8 a buck 80 yeah deos did a nice job of chasing that down from the backside looked like step back might be able to get away but uh just a good job of chasing him down and you know they we haven't seen uh Darius Neil have we seen him in the second half um I guess not that he jumped out at me we we'll have to keep an eye out here so third down and four here for slunaker one back two receivers left tight end left 1154 left to play here in the third quarter sends his back out looking right the whole way slant route temped and picked off another interception for Montana Tech and another one for Jaden DS great play by whitcom he stretched his arm out and got the ball knocked into the air and then all J Jaden Downs had to do was just let it fall right into his hands great defensive play combination coverage out there on the edge what a play whitcom tips it Downs pulls it in that's his third interception of the day and Montana Tech takes over at their 44 yd line with a ton of momentum so the Diggs number 21 of the country leading Georgetown of Kentucky 14-7 here in the mining City the sun is set 11:42 left to play here in this third quarter and as we come up to the line of scrimmage here the Diggs one receiver each way twin tight right Kyle terson in motion thielen going to hand it off Landers Smith has a blocker Landers fights his way to the 41 a gain of four yeah if that offensive staff at at Montana Tech they watch his secondary you can watch those so the safeties are showing half field coverage but if you watch them one them will tap his chest that usually means to his near side he's going to walk up and take the flat and they'll play three deep behind him if you can recognize that and get four verticals up field against that maybe Loop the back out on a swing or a flat route you can get wide open receivers you just need about 2 and 1/2 seconds to see it second down and six here for the Diggs Smith in the back field Man in Motion is tight end three receivers handoff is going to go up the middle across the 40 down to the 42 yd line it looks as though we have uh Ethan rener was it rener okay that's why I I thought so initially and then I talked myself out of it had to make sure yeah Ethan Renard re I couldn't remember his first name so rener with the carry so we have seen all three running backs here for the Diggs we talked about it in the pregame positive yards regardless of what happens here I think this is four down territory so I would keep Lander Smith in mind here if you just want to safely run the ball figure he can get two yards a crack here third down and just a hair less than four as they look to the sideline 1020 left to play here in the third Montana attack leading 14 to7 one back three receivers out of the shotgun three-step drop standing in the pocket looking downfield comeback routes and we're going to get a flag from downfield might get a downfield hold as Alexander was trying to get out of his break or an offensive pass interference but uh John Carter Myers was out there in coverage and we'll wait for the call from our white hats there two fouls on the play two fouls holding offense number 80 holding Defense number one those plays offset so offsetting holding penalties and that will be a run down of third down so Jaden Downs with three interceptions so far today ties Mark Irwin with three he ties Blaine Hardy with three and Jeff Brawn with three I got one other one who Jeff lipitz my teammate against Chadron State is he on there he's on there oh there we go I I'm look at that I'm proud of you gold star for Ron hasket four guys now make that that Five Guys with three interceptions in a game for Montana Tech as Jaden DS has entered that discussion third down at Four Man in Motion handoff is going to go up the middle Lander Smith keeps the feet churning he's across the 35 to the 32 wi decision I I don't think he had any right getting that first down I mean it felt like the hole clogged on him pretty well and he just kept going he keeps going but he sees the daylight he's uh he just must have great peripheral vision just must have it cuz he just does a good job of running to Daylight 18 carries 96 yds for Lander Smith it sounds simple you know it really does but it's uh of course I never played running back so I wouldn't know but it isn't Blake Thelen going to swing it out to Smith he'll get hit and not much there nice job stepping up defensively that time Justin Richardson a senior out of Georgia steps up to make the play that's smart football though you know hit the back out uh show that you're willing to just attack the flat with swing routes or flat routes that's only going to help your your play action stuff and anytime you're running people down field you know just anything to slow down that second tier of Defense from dropping into your what where does Montana Tech live especially on third down at the hash marks 10 and 15 yards deep with the Torgerson crew uh they like to hook guys up just beyond the sticks that's only going to help that 858 left to play here in the third quarter two receivers left heavy formation right with a pair of tight ends BL Blitz coming Thelen gets rid of it to Torgerson and Kyle Di drives down to the 23 yd line he's going to be about a yard shy of the first down marker great read by the offensive fronts and a great read by thel to get rid of that quickly yeah he got pressure but he let uh he let uh Kyle Torgerson get up field and get into his choice route so he's he's stopping there 8 10 yards down field and he's just feeling where the defense is and he'll slide into a bubble and uh he just he wants to make sure they're on the same page he lets him make his break and delivers the ball third and two Lander Smith the back again twin tight right this will go to Smith I can almost guarantee it terson comes in motion and they're going to run up the middle Smith across the 2015 down to the 13 yd line tremendous hole on the left side of that line and a big pancake there as Montana Tech going to move the chains another TDS first down and it will bring him inside the kih Red Zone take a look at this here uh as he breaks through and what a block on the left side and Smith delivers a hit at the 15 yd line Logan Kennedy's fired up you got to see the sticks move after him getting busted on a little uh offensive holding in pass protection earlier in this series Vindicated with a big run Lander Smith 20 carries 113 yards on the day and he wants to be fed more 7:30 left to play here in the third Smith in the back field two receivers rights and tight end set up left Thelen going to hand it off to Smith again Smith has a lane inside the 10 five he hurdles himself and he's down to the 2yd line a gain of 11 boy this offensive front we're going to get a flag got to be a hold where it's at and that will be the case 69 the offense 10 y penalty you know those those holding penalties really do help your rushing yardage right I was just going to sing the Praises of the offensive front who has been great today uh but that was just really poor timing on my part yeah they're bringing in some quick here but uh I think is Logan Kennedy off oh we got a new tight end in the game Pierce is in I'd like to see him maybe come back with Lander Smith G and it's only first down with that tight end delay they had it in the first half they just missed him with the throw empty backfield Levi terson will get it Levi across the 20 15 Levi stiff arm down to the 12 boy the way he came down he gets thrown down here as he's inside the 12 yd line that's going to be a nice pickup terson coaches next to us are pretty fired up little bit let's take a look at this here as this play comes across empty backfield Levi terson comes across the middle little Logan Kennedy got a pancake uh just a immediate block off the right Edge there right tight end or excuse me that would have been Pierce right yep second down and nine here for the Diggs ball at the 12y line they can get a first down just outside the three Smith the back rolling right th's going to throw it into the back of the end zone and they go up incomplete Wyatt Alexander the intended target Justin Richardson all over him flag in the end zone yep so a flag down the officials chatt it over 609 left to play here in the third Montana Tech leading 14-7 again thanks for joining us here on Digger Vision Paul Pisco Ron hasket our white hat will give us our call best interference defense pass interference so a fresh set of so a little deeper inside that Ki Red Zone we go and with the kih red zone and we're going to the torgersen area there are I I believe approximately 517 people in the torers and tailgate area down in the North End Zone and they uh they've got themselves a good seat right now as we're deep here in the Ki age Red Zone first down and goal from the two heavy Back Field they'll spread it out Lander Smith steps up right side Man in Motion they'll give it to him on the Fly pitch stiff arm turning the corner Kyle terson to the pylon and Kyle's going to come up short close he's still at the two yard line must have stepped out there at the two as he lunged uh towards that pylon boy Javin Martin that time the Freshman defensive back really a good burst of speed to track him down 6 minutes left to play in the in the third quarter Montana Tech knocking on the door they lead 14 to7 the Diggs number 21 of the country in the preseason pole Georgetown of Kentucky number three in the preseason poll by and large georgetown's defended the perimeter pretty well here today you know it's just been been a lot of the headache stuff between the tackles that Montana Tech just executed better than their defense has executed in at fullback is Logan Kennedy and the hand off to Smith Smith fights his way pushing the pile he's inside the one but he's going to come up short third and goal from the one yd line regardless that this Series has just chewed up a ton of clock as well that's it let's Mont Tech's favor Drive summary as of right now we take a look at what we have here and we'll get to that here in a moment as we get back up Montana Tech looks to the sideline first and goal from the one so the digs up to the line of scrimmage Lander Smith in the back field Pierce in motion he'll stop just off the right tackle hand off to Smith Smith pushes forward through that big old front and the big boys get him in Lander Smith with the touchdown his second of the day and Montana Tech goes up 20-7 with 444 left to play in this third quarter it was a big series a big uh just a big drive by that offense top to bottom starting with the that offensive front they made every key first down they had to running the ball with Lander Smith but he doesn't do it without the six guys in front of him and I hope you understand where this is coming from is with Shannon and I's parents but my daughter is learning some new words from the booth next to us for and the kicking unit is in Montana Tech leading 20 to7 I've been at your house she hasn't learning to anything too fancy 444 left to play in the third and we're going to get a busted play flags of Plenty and we're going to get a hit and that's going to go down the Tigers were definitely into the neutral zone but were they drawn into the neutral zone is where the question is going to be here again 444 left to play here in this third quarter Montana attch leading 27 distance to the goal replay boy the Diggs really playing well right now disciplined football offensively and defensively sorry getting bombarded by a couple exor diggers here so they'll kick it again a little closer this time Montana Tech leading 20 to7 they get it set up and attempt the pat here waiting the snap snap and hold are good the kick is up and the kick is through Montana Tech stretches their lead out 21 to7 the digs over the Tigers as we are here with destiny at new cor we're building something bigger out here at new Corp come join us hey welcome back here once again to the campus of Montana Tech and Bob Greenfield the digs leading 21 to7 444 left to play here in this third quarter an incredible drive that time by Montana Tech as Lander Smith goes in from one out 10 plays Four 46 yds 6 minutes 36 seconds off the clock and getting seven more points pounded end overend kick and that's bobbled again and they're going to bring it out the return going right with some daylight across the 20 25 30 out to the 33 great return after a bobbled initial contact speaking of seeing daylight holy moly so the Tigers will get rolling here blown assignment on the contain on that kickoff cover team as of right now Georgetown 40 offensive plays 172 yards luner is seven of 16 for 100 yards he's thrown three interceptions all to the same guy he's been sacked twice he has one touchdown pass that went to Warren Warren has two catches for 72 and he got that 67 y to get this game started right so first down and 10 here from the 40 has up up to the line of scrimmage we go Montana Tech four down Man in Motion slunaker hand off to Neil Neil gets through the first level and leans forward for a pick up of three nice to see Neil back I was starting to get concerned yeah it's been a little while it feels like yeah he missed that entire previous series and it's clear to me that he you he's legit and the best back in the program yep and I mean all three of them have been impressive second down at seven slunaker Blitz coming safety Blitz coming hard swing pass goes to the dirt and that's going to be incomplete they were looking for Neil Montana Tech heavy pressure is coming on the absolute just incredible Blitz up top the safety Blitz was de Mario King and he was just a guided missile in pass they'll walk him up bring pressure that just ruled as an incomplete pass third down and seven 4 minutes left to play here in the third Montana attch leading 21 to7 as still working on that clock up there you see 21 to7 our score four minutes left to play here appreciate my crew Jason and those guys in there fighting with that wonderful piece of Machinery tight end in motion Montana Tech showing pressure here it comes whitcom is on the blitz and he will escape across the 40 and ACT first down yardage inside the 40 to the 37 yd line a really nice run that time uh by sler yeah good job of finding gaps in that that pass rush he had his uh his uh rubber route his out up around Midfield open early but didn't see it smartly took off running sluder quick snap he's going to air it up right side one-on-one coverage and little push off down toward the goal line and that's going to be caught at the one yd line and the receiver after the catch is Herz he hauls it in at the one yd line What A Catch look to me like he might have came down on the football okay could just be a wind issue what a throw down the right sideline and I believe it was Matt Miller I could be wrong it was one-on-one coverage tossed out there I think you're right 312 left to play here in this third quarter boy this would be a huge score here for Georgetown if they punch it in all of a sudden we've we've got a much different texture going into the last 18 minutes so he does get up you're correct that is Miller a nice adjustment to the football because there was quite a bit of contact down there uh down the right side by both players but he made a nice adjustment to field that thing looked like he came down right on top of it slunaker under Center heavy Back Field behind him first down and goal from the one long snap counts luner going to hand it off to Neil Neil gets off tackle right he gets stood up and he's not going to get there again Montana Tech shuts him down at the goal line they have had two fourth down stands with their back absolutely against the ropes and right now the Tigers looking at second and goal from the one see if they try the old Philly special here like they did earlier in this football game going to get Montana Tech possibly with too many guys on the field nope second and goal sler keeps it himself they try and give him a shove and he's got to be in touchdown is the signal sler gets the shove from the guys behind him and the Tigers add six on the board 225 left to play here in this third quarter as Montana attack leading 21-3 as they still are trying to get out of the pile they they finally made the call again but we I mean we knew it was from here I mean you just looked at that and we was you were in so the kicking unit I is in here for the Tigers 225 left to play in the third tigers with a KN a nice touchdown here and the pat attempt kick is up and the kick is through 21-4 a seven-point ball game the digs up over Georgetown with 225 left to play in the third with a Timeout on the field we'll take one we are back here to Bob Green Field right after this new cor is a great company um they care about their people they care about the environment I've never been restricted to to fall in a box I've never been told that I can't do something I saw it as a great opportunity to develop a career you they punch it in and the kick will go into the end zone and out so 225 left to play here in this third quarter Montana Tech leading 21 to 14 that touchdown really has taken a lot of air out of this crowd this crowd was there was a ton of energy in this joint Montana Tech still leads by seven but right now it's kind of a it's relaxed a little bit well I think the overall pop ation here would feel a little more comfortable if Montana Tech was throwing the ball a little more effectively today yeah than you know having to rely on Lander Smith now that's not to say you should get away from doing what you've been doing all day yep but you have to be a little more effective throwing the ball to give your uh tailb a little bit of daylight 225 left to play here in the third tight end goes in motion handoff play action thel going to drop it off to his tight end across the 30 35 and Out of Bounds at the 39 yd line as down the field it goes to Logan Kennedy the red shirt junor out of Laurel and he'll pick up his first Catch of the Day good action just catching Logan Dave uh excuse me Logan Kennedy Logan Kennedy on the first level off the off the outside Zone fake just a nice easy throw and catch for thi not much pressure in front of him and uh Kennedy wide open case construction instant replay Kyle terson in motion hand off to Lander Smith Straight Ahead he's across the 45 to the 46 look at that that's a gain of seven yeah and just a again just straight ahead yeah his offensive lineman Brandon Spen Spencer right down there laying blocks and getting pancakes right down there in front of him Spencer snapping the ball and getting out of his stance and getting down field bear with me I've got the hiccups somebody fed me a a really wonderful chicken salad I might add second down and two Thelen out of the shotgun he's 9 of 15 today 74 yards no touchdowns no interceptions has not been sacked hasn't seen a ton of heat to be honest either handoff going to go to Smith he has some room he's across Midfield to the 46 yd line of the Tigers that's another first down a TDS first down for Lander Smith and Smith now up near 130 yards on the day George knows it come knows it's coming they're they're in a fivan surface there with three backers inside the tackles there and just three deep coverage uh they know Montana Tech's going to come to Lander Smith I'm not so sure that's the best way to attack Zone I think you layer it but uh they like a fiveman surface here and you're going to see it again split backs here they got more of an umbrella coverage here but we'll see what happens uh eight to The Far Side uh Jackson Hayes he's been tapping his chest so he's been walking down here at the snap of the football quite often into the flat that time he's going to take a deep third Blitz coming well picked up again deep ball Kyle ferson does he get a foot in he does not he had his guy beat he goes up to get it and that one just pulls him out of bounds great effort by Kyle terson that one's going to go incomplete second and 10 great play call they had a perfect play call the the near side safety ran clear across the field to a deep half so they were playing half with a safety and a cornerback and uh dorasan ran right by uh 26 over here take a look at it here on a good angle here on this camera as well down the sideline as terson goes up yep fully a foot out great job by our crew again there as Torgerson unable to pull it in he's been targeted a lot today he has five catches 47 yards averaging about 10 a catch Lander Smith turns it up he's across the 45 to the 44 it's a gain of two you saw him bring that secondhand in on the football there for a minute as the defender nice job getting a hand on him that time that was Chad hollerin Tigers got another player down hollerin fifth year senior 64 235 had it just a a monster job at linebacker so with 15 minutes left in this football game Montana Tech leading 21-4 we'll take a break the fourth quarter will get underway ladies and gentlemen here on Digger Vision right after this Now's the Time to get into but Auto and custom build your own ride just the way you want it choose from nine Brands and compare them all at one location don't wait take advantage of our VIP appointment or stay where you are and Shop eastly from but auto.com at but Auto we believe in exceptional service and an easy buying environment I've never been restricted to to fall in a box I've never been told that I can't do something I saw it as a great opportunity to develop a career you create your own destiny at new core we're building something bigger out here at new Corp come join us back here a gorgeous night in but Montana 15 minutes left in this football game as we go into the fourth quarter as or Digger football here on Digger Vision it's copper game brought To Us by Rocky Mountain Credit Union the digs looking at third down and eight trips receivers left all right we got two toris on the inside slot we'll see if they don't find one of them down there in that hook that choice zone right down there around the 35 yd line line Lake Thelen one back at home as we await the ball to be set live here so it looks like the white hat going to make his call and we're ready to roll third down and eight Thelen Tigers showing Blitz and here it comes they'll bring five Thelen flushed out of the pocket to his left side looking downfield he squares up airs it up and that's going to fall incomplete good pressure that time by the Tigers as the first one there was Jackson Geller and also there pushing the pace defensively was reys brown that's going to bring up fourth down here for the Diggs and give the Tigers an opportunity here trailing by a touchdown with 1453 left to play here in the game Leeland got chased out of there in a hurry I'm not so sure he had to leave that quick I'd like to see that again so one back at home by the punting unit in excuse me I probably should look a little further back here so Andrew almost and to putt it away ball at the Tigers 44 yd line snap is good and knuckle ball end over end fair catch called for and brought in at the 11 yd line so the Tigers will take over at the 11 the Tigers have run 46 offensive plays for 232 yards Montana Tech 45 offensive plays for 222 and the Diggs lead lead by a touchdown the big difference here turnover wise slunaker has three interceptions and on the other side for Montana Tech a young man by the name of Jaden DS has three interceptions looking for number four here he's going to get his chances first and 10 here for the Tigers 1445 left to play in the football game Montana TCH by a touchdown out of the shotgun is sler one back at home he'll get the carry Straight Ahead out to the 14 yd line actually they'll Mark him at the 15 a gain of four clock running here not much going on there defensively just fourman surface no pressure they did walk um strong safety uh to Mario King up into a linebacker spot but uh didn't bring him 1418 left to play here in this game as sler he's eight of 18 for 137 yards Neil has run for 50 yards so far and the hand off to Neil again he gets through the first level across the 20 outs of the 23 it looked like he was going to get hammered initially and he's able to squirt through gets first down yardage to the 23 and that'll move the chains here for the Tigers Tech brought a corner Blitz from the top side there to no avail they ran away from it uh no problem but uh yeah I hav I don't know if I've seen any Corner pressure here yet today first and 10 for the Tigers offensively the Tigers feel like they're a little comfortable right now honestly one back for receivers Tech with the nickel package in which they stay in most of the time in a 425 and they're going to run pitch out to Neil he bobbled it for just a moment turns it up field he's outs to the 29 near the 30 yd line a gain of five so continuing to gain yardage here clock running 1310 left to play in the football game Mont had attacked by a touchdown good hit out there in the flat by Wick second down and four here for the Tigers as they look to the sideline for the play call one back three receivers Montana Tech creeping up showing Blitz whitcom they're not going to bring him Neil's going to get get it he gets through again and he's out to the 35 another first down here for the Tigers they'll chew up some more yards as the clock continues to run yeah they're getting back to what they started the game with just kneel left kneel right kneel up the middle just not a ton of huge runs but five six seven yards a go that's all you need first down and 10 here for the Tigers Neil right now 14 carries 56 yards and he is in the back field on the right side of his quarterback tight end in motion stops sler play action going to throw stands in the pocket looking for the Deep shot left side one-on-one it's up and picked off the fourth interception of the day this time Angel Sanchez II the senior Captain will haul it in mon Tech football played it perfectly in great position outside leverage on his receiver saw it was slightly underthrown slowed down went up and got that thing High Point secured the football great defensive play by Angel fourth interception of the day so you and I have done games now for 19 years how many times you think we've seen four interceptions in a day I don't know that we have do you I'm not sure we have either to be honest yeah you and I we back to 2005 I saw T gan's name floating through the emad group and I I always think of that 2005 run we went to California and ass Souza first down at 10 after the interception Montana Tech football Man in Motion is terson it's Kyle terson going wide lefts handoff they're going to stretch the corner Smith trying to find it he gets there but we're going to get a flag down and Smith going to get shoved Out of Bounds at the 25 and this one is coming backwards holding offet 10 y penalty so the penalty will back him up 10 Montana Tech would love to have another seven-minute drive that eats up a whole chunk of clock and puts six points on the board they're more than likely going to have to go to the air to do it to move the sticks unless they get a penalty on this series right now Lander Smith 25 carries 129 yards and of scores Blake Thelen 9- 17 for 74 through the air Thelen senior quarterback out of the shotgun five man front again yep coming hand off is going to go to Smith Smith bounces through the first level keeps churning across the 20 out to the 24 yd line he gets the penalty yards plus one back okay maybe not I feel like that was aimed just at you and that's all right though that'll bring up second down and nine here for the Diggs I still don't mind a little play action I mean you had Logan Kennedy the last time you ran a little outside Zone waggle or whatever you want to call it uh out of the shotgun it's just a little different looking animal but see if we can't get him running the flat little block down and Escape one back three receivers here for thel 1045 left to play here in the football game Montana Tech leading 21 to 14 Thelen hands it off to Smith again Smith across the 25 out to the 29 yd line Lander Smith up near a buck 40 he's earned every one of them that he has he certainly has seen daylight a couple times but most of it the daylight he has seen he's had somebody in the passenger seat he's dragging down the field third and five here for the Diggs clock running 1012 left to play here in this football game Montana tech leads by a touchdown Blake Thelen and tight end moves over to the left side that's Logan Kennedy three-step drop Thelen setting up screen pass is tipped and that one's going to fall incomplete right in the hands that time a Wyatt Alexander that's going to bring up fourth down with 956 left to play here in this football game had what you wanted you got pressure you got six-man pressure man across the board he had Crossing routes going you had Alexander just uh that's a catch whyatt will tell you he should make 10 times out of 10 it was a tough catch maybe a little behind him and a little high but just got to make plays on third down Andrew almost in to putt it away here for the Diggs again almost first team All American good snap again and he hammers this one pushes The Return Man back it bounces at the 23 takes an Iger bounce inside the 15 down to the 14 14 yd line kicks that football from inside the 20 down to the 14 close to a 60yd punt just an incredible one again by Andrew alos he would have been first team allam two years ago as a punter but he didn't have enough kicks that still just it rubs me really wrong yeah that's bad he didn't have enough kicks to uh basically fall into the criteria so Andrew almost uh does hit first team All-American last year the digs lead by seven we have a Timeout on the field so let's take one it's the copper game the digs up 21 to4 ladies and gentlemen we'll take a break we're back right after this it's important for be Auto to partner with Community Partners such as Montana attch Athletics because of the commonalities of goals that we have for for the be Community with tech Athletics we look at it as a way to not only provide great things for the community whether that's attending football games volleyball games basketball games it also helps Tech Athletics to have further Outreach to bring in more athletes more students and really add to the diversity of but but Auto and Montana Tech Athletics we're going to do great things together [Music] hey welcome back here once again to Alumni Coliseum at Bob Greenfield First and 10 here for the Tigers as we get the Whistle the Tigers we'll get things underway here in the fourth quarter Neil moves to the left hip there of sler three receivers left uh for the rub uh it looked to me like he was further downfield than that guy you're supposed to know the rules not me I don't know rules I don't either uh first down and 10 here for the Tigers 846 left to play here in this ball game looks like we might have a chain issue over there Matt stepan's going to be real mad those are brand new chains and it looks like we're going to get a timeout is what we've got going here 846 left to play in this football game Montana Tech leading 21-4 we'll go ahead and keep it here officials timeout must be huh it kind of looks that way and actually joking aside our athletic director Matt steppen went out and talked to the white hat there I'd be interested to know about what honestly as we take a look there in the North End Zone is the electronic down marker new yeah oh okay is that good I was hoping it didn't take me yeah it's years to notice it's new today new today clock running here 833 left to play in the football game sler out of the shotgun Neil goes in motion and slunaker wants to run he's out to the 30 back to the line of scrimmage and no more and that's one thing that's been clear all game even though he had the the the good Escape for the long first down in the previous series it's clear to me he doesn't want to run not at all second down at 10 and that said he has had a couple of really nice runs today right you know it was kind of like when Tom Brady would run you're like what maybe not that bad I'm sorry that was really rude of me wasn't it you don't have to ult a poor analogy I'm very sorry second down and 10 one back three receivers here for sler tight end goes left Neil goes right Montana Tech base 43 Neil's going to get the hand off he's going to turn it up field cuts it to the 35 out to the 36 going to bring up third down and four nearly five here for the Tigers and they're going to go into hurry up you can tell immediately by their receivers when you look at the guys away from the football you can tell when they go into hurry up as they quickly get to the line of scrimmage Pitch Out to the left side Neil turns it up he gets hammered and he is way way off that first down marker yeah that's new blood that's a big time play again for Montana tchs Demario King yeah Demario King coming up didn't give an inch this is how you stand them up take him down look at the beine Demario puts on him it was almost like an outfielder in baseball he took the half step back and then just launched forward and that'll bring up fourth down and the punting unit will come in here for the Tigers 650 left to play here in the football game on Tech leading 21 to 14 nice to get a decent return here something to liven up this sideline a little bit you can feel a little Caution on the Montana Tech sideline right now little lack of excitement they could use that decent return to maybe instill a little momentum into that offense fourth down and two and the Tigers will call a timeout here 642 left to play in this football game again the digs are on the road next week next Saturday they'll be at a place called Carol College 600 PM start time we'll have the first game under the lights at Nelson it's amazing how many firsts happened between Mont Tech and Carol College isn't it no so we'll uh new Turf looks good over there mhm yeah I I'm a fan of checkerboard in the endzones are you that's the only thing I don't like about it really yeah cuz the only other team that I've ever seen do it is Tennessee right yeah and that would make sense that you don't like it cuz I'm not sure we agree on anything it's why we're a perfect married couple fourth down and two so the Tigers after the timeout come out so in that situation you have the punting unit out you call a timeout you come back with the punting unit do you defensively go hold on a second let's do do you readjust a little bit and and worry about fake at all or do you not I don't think so I think if if there was a fake in place there it would have been ran without the timeout I think yeah uh yeah I don't know what we got going on here they got w splits uh but I think this ball is going to be kicked away Montana Tech's got a chance for a return here fourth down and two awaiting the snap long snap count here now they all stand up play clock down to seven and the snap and kick is away lowline Drive end over end bounces at the 34 across the 30 and it will be down at the 28 yd line so the Iger offense a chance to put together a nice drive here on the ground eat up some clock and maybe try and put this thing to bit first down at 10 here for Montana Tech they lead by seven the Diggs have run 48 offensive plays 237 yards offensive line here's enough of it but this is where you get in the Huddle and you tell that offensive line let's go win this game behind you guys don't give them a chance to get the ball back let's grind it out 4 five eight yards at a time and end this game either on the plus side of the football field or in the end zone these guys those that they have played awfully well today you know thean hasn't seen much pressure at all obviously we've got a runner up near 150 yards Lander Smith he's out to the 39 that's going to be a gain of seven that's going to put him at right at 150 yards yeah when you've got a guy go for a buck 50 and you know you look at the quarterback side and Blake felen with uh no sacks you're going to be pretty happy with the day still a little surprised we didn't see a little more of veter and rener today just because you know the first game of the year yep uh you know legs could be getting a little tired obviously his aren't getting tired and they know they're back second down at five heavy formation up front Kyle terson comes in motion they fake the hand off to him Lander Smith this time gets back to the line of scrimmage and still gets two I was going to say he gets back to the line of scrimmage and no more but yet he gets a little shov forward picks up two positive yards took a couple pretty good shots there but once again landed falling forward we talk about that all the time you know that idea those those running backs or receivers that no matter when they go down they always go down forward and the those additional yards are so important he really grinds he really grinds he spins uh hits spins little quarter half spins just anything to get a little leverage and and maintain ground as he's carrying Defenders 21 to 14 Montana Tech with the lead the football 510 left to play here in this football game and it looks like the Diggs are going to call a time out play clock was getting low and they will pause 507 left to play here at the football game the digs leading 21-4 Montana Tech First Time Out Montana Tech number 21 in the country Georgetown of Kentucky number three in the country Carol College receiving votes that'll be the next opponents next Saturday as Montana Tech will head over what do you see here something funky or just Landers I don't I don't think you mess with anything you don't think you miss that little uh snap through the quarterback's leg that they ran to uh tremble a few years ago yep nope oh that was that was such a thing of beauty that should be hung in the Lou like that was still thank you for reminding me of that my old age I I gosh I hope I wouldn't forget but yeah the directs s act to Trumble that was well that was uh who through that that was uh uh Winterburn right yes was a direct snap through the quarterback's legs to Winter win and he uh he just kind of one step faked off tackle and lobbed it to Trimble and actually I think I heard Winterburn is here yeah I hear that all here third down and one Montana Tech after the timeout up to the line of scrimmage 507 left to play here in the football game the digs up 21 to 14 split backs as Blake feling out of the shotgun heavy defensive front here for the Tigers th gets the snap hand off to Smith Smith bounces out he's got some Running Room 4550 Smith down to the 45 yd line Landers Smith goes for 18 and that's going to move the chains for Montana Tech another TDS first down for Lander Smith take a look at this thing whole pile of Leman down here the snap for the football the middle of that is just clogged up and Landers bouncing is right big stiff arm and he is fast approaching 200 yds on the day our case construction instant replay 21-4 the Diggs with the lead and the ball the clock is running that dude can spot daylight joke 170 yards for Lander Smith on 30 carries first down at 10 out of the shotgun Landers again little stutter step Landers great footwork out across the 35 to the 34 11 more yards for Lander Smith he's clearly having the time of his life too he just loves it loves the contact loves his teammates first down and 10 watch this again like he just and you know the offensive lineman just love it too he bounces maybe that's the thing we don't give him enough credit for is is that kind of shiftiness you know we talk about him running over and through people but he gets those hips moving side to side and he's awfully Shifty he's good at that old jump cut first down and 10 here for the dicks 402 left to play here at the football game Montana Tech leading 21 to4 great crowd on hand here for the copper game brought To Us by Rocky Mountain Credit Union thanks for joining us here on Digger Vision Paul Pisco Ron haset our great crew here as we have packed house the North End Zone is slammed we've got the Torgerson tailgate full we've got the emad tailgate full I shouldn't say tailgate the north their North End Zone Cabanas is a cabana a good word something like yeah Cabana first down I like wasy Degan in a cabana that's a that's a mental picture first and 10 theing out of the shotgun L clock and game clock running smart here by th the play clock's still at 15 so they're going to go ahead and let it go here for a little bit that and the game clocker running here comes Man in Motion it's Logan Kennedy the tight end handoff is going to go again Lander Smith gets tripped up at the 24 yd line he is fired up Logan Kennedy looks like he just ran out of the locker room making his way towards two bills watch him bust through this line here in our case Construction instant replay good job getting up field that time nice lead Block action in the hole Chase Meyer getting up there what a job by that offensive front Lander Smith 192 yards so far on the day he's trying to steal J Jaden D's Thunder yeah no joke somehow we're forgetting about a guy with three interceptions and one return for six points split backs Logan Kennedy again in motion handoff is going to go to Landers Smith inside the 20 down to the 18 yd line it's only five yeah just a five yard gain that time you're going to have a good chance at National players of the week both coming from Montana Tech offensively and defensively 100% if they can hold on and get thisn so the Tigers will call a timeout here as the clock not their friend right now 229 left to play here in this football game Montana Tech leading 21 to4 we were expecting a heck of a football game and we have been treated to it you know and again I I'm lucky I we're lucky I I love what I do I love calling games but I also like the people side of it I've talked to an awful lot of people from Georgetown the last couple days um and and they've been so good to me and so kind and obviously our campus right now with construction on Park Street isn't exactly the easiest place to get around and trying to explain that to them and working through it and they've been nothing but good about it and it's great to see just good environment and good football you know well it's important that they know how much we we respect what every team and their players and coaches go through yeah you know it's uh you got to remember those guys over across the field are putting in the same work as your guys are here's our Jaden Downs there there's the first to the house so Jaden Downs three interceptions as the second that was the first one actually wasn't it that where he bullets up and makes it that's off to our crew getting us the interceptions Jaden Downs having himself a day there on the case construction replay second down at five here for the Diggs after the timeout play clock down to five split backs Logan Kennedy in motion handoff is going to go to Smith there's a flag down all the way in the end zone what are we going to get the flag for back there any idea I don't know what that would have been so the officials going to come out and chat it over over here illegal substitution defense defensive illegal substitution penalty okay second down that might explain the outrage next to us got to remark on the work that when they've gone to back the work of lead blocking that Missoula product Charlie kiran's done too 221 left to play here after the fivey rir sophomore 6' 240 out of Missoula he a sentinel kid wouldn't he yeah I'm POS he was a sentinel kid that program has just been fantastic so first and 10 here for the Diggs they're in the Ki Red Zone and Montana Tech calling for a little energy here Lander Smith has 33 carries and 197 yards on the day two [Music] touchdowns as the officials he wants the hattrick No Doubt officials chatting things over here what do they have going on the uh they really had things huddled up and are they talking about the penalty it has to be about the penalty don't you think oh we're going to get split and we're going to go first down at 10 here little dance off in the Huddle yeah you know got to make things happen Montana Tech 54 plays 291 yards today 217 of those yards on the ground and 74 through the air here today first and goal from the nine again inside the kih Red Zone and we're going to get a stoppage here theer two minutes we'll get a timeout timeout so the two-minute warning and we have a Timeout on on the field so let's take one Montana Tech leading 21 to4 the digs up over Georgetown of Kentucky we'll take a break we're back here on Digger Vision after this dude Hudson your new man cave is sweet come watch the game dude they're going to score man cave lady lounges whatever you call them steals Furniture has exactly what you need to make your room come to life shop our man cave showroom today for IDE to upgrade your bar set fireplace TV recliner furniture set and refrigerator steel furniture making man caves happen for 87 years newor is a great company um they care about their people they care about the environment I've never been restricted to to fall in a I've never been told that I can't do something I saw it as a great opportunity to develop a career you create your own destiny new we're building something bigger out here at new Corp come join us back here once again to Bob Greenfield Alumni Coliseum first and goal from the N inside the kih Red Zone Montana Tech leading by seven with 2 minutes left to play 21 14 our score Man in Motion and the handoff going to go to Smith Smith Straight Ahead he's inside the five fights his way down to the three ball comes out the Tigers have it tigers are going to take this to the house from the three yd line down the sideline into the end zone the tigers are within one a 97 yd fumble recovery as Justin Richardson takes it the other way and Georgetown of Kentucky is within one he just went over 200 yards I want to see if that thing got popped out from the side or from [Music] behind that is just incredible Georgetown of Kentucky down by a touchdown Montana Tech first and goal from the nine and that ball gets knocked out you know Lessons Learned You' used to hear Bob Green say that all the time them snap it again always make them snap it again CU you never know what's going to happen so the offense is going to come out here as georgetown's going to go for the win on the road well the uh coach looking to the white hat here going take a timeout Yep looks that way Timeout on the field towards a tech lot of time left yeah Montana Tech Two timeouts two time outs and a buck 40 left so the Diggs have been awfully good with their back against the wall down against the end zone Georgetown College final time out of the half and so that is the third and final timeout here for Georgetown College what a turn of events I mean we're we're sitting at the nine yd line first and goal you're up by a touchdown you know the points in that scenario aren't near as important as you know four snaps of the football it's done that's why first down talked earlier you either in the game on that side of the field or in the end zone um yeah you got to be careful here I don't know that they will try and run the ball here if they go for it but what you got to be careful is they've run a little toss uh a little bit of toss sweep out of out of shotgun yeah in throughout this game to Neil be careful little toss with a sweet pass you know something like that just a a simple little you know halfback pass or something like that down on the goal line that's real tough to defend well as Montana Tech's defense comes out cuz you're not asking him to complete a ball down field you're asking him complete a foury pass and here we go the offense is coming out Georgetown going for two in the win on the road Montana Tech leading 21 to 20 the Tigers at Georgetown coming out sler out of the shotgun one back on his right side one receiver each way going for the two-point conversion sler they're going to run reverse here to the near side trying to get to the edge turning it up field they're going to get in for the two-point conversion Dylan Warren turns it up field Georgetown goes up by one 22-21 Georgetown gets the two-point conversion Montana Tech with time 142 left to play here in the football game trailing by one with two timeouts unreal you got to get composed if you're Montana Tech offensively go out and win this game an absolutely insane 18 seconds of football so 142 left to play Montana Tech offense will get to go here theen is 9 of 18 for 74 and the terson brothers will go back to receive the kick so as the Tigers on the sideline Montana Tech led by a touchdown first and goal on the N9 yd line with two minutes left ball comes out Tigers take it 90 what 97 yards for a touchdown and they go for two and convert it they go up by one you're just sick for Lander Smith the game he played you know a couple turnovers that one just absolutely huge but the game he played Just leaves a knot in your stomach 142 left to play here in the football game kicking unit ready to go again Montana Tech plenty of time end over end kick drifting left and that one's going to go into the end zone and it will be down there so Montana Tech we look to get the offense rolling here one 42 left to play this is just incredible boy turnovers have been a big factor in this football game for Montana Tech it's been fumbles for the Tigers of Georgetown it has been interceptions yes exactly right and just huge you got to get ready I mean you got young wide outs you got a de two pack three pack of tight ends seven eight pack of wide outs ready to go keep fresh bodies in stretch this defense get downfield stay solid and pass protection Blake thieling out of the shotgun Kyle terson goes in motion to the left side he's looking towards terson the whole way that one's batted into the air and it will fall incomplete that one hit at the line of scrimmage and I believe getting a hand on it was Tyler Snell that'll bring up second down and 10 here for the Diggs trailing by one 138 left to play this passing game just hasn't looked like a well-oiled machine here today you know start to finish it just it's looked a little wonky they've looked really good throw are running the football but the pass passing game just hasn't looked crisp they need to look good now four receivers one back they're going to drop it off Lander Smith gets it he's going to the sidelines he's across the 35 and Dives and the clock will run at the 39 yd line he's a yard shy of the first down marker clock running 122 left to play in the football game Tech with two timeouts clock doesn't stop on first downs anymore in college football correct no first right but got if they get it here two receivers each way play action that one's batted up comes right back to Thelen and he gets hammered Blake thielen gets laid out as that came back to him Chad hollerin hits him hard and that's going to bring up fourth down here for Montana Tech with 59 seconds left to play timeout Montana Tech fourth down for the Diggs we hadn't seen a batted pass in the entirety of the uh well 59 minutes of this football game basically and we've had two in this last series yeah you got to move in the pocket and get yourself some windows to throw the football the previous play is under review so fourth down at five they're going to review that play and I don't know what they're reviewing for uh you know the ball got deflected up in the air th fielded it but he got up tapping his helmet as in maybe a Target I was just going to say if we that's kind of my Wonder is if I'll tell you what he lowered the head and got him with the crown if you get a Target here this booth next to us is going to erupt yeah along with that sideline over there as we take a look there at the Diggs on the field 59 seconds left to play here in this one a one-point lead here for Georgetown of Kentucky the number three team in the country Montana Tech number 21 as they go over to the tent this is new this year here for the frontier conference as replay is available so they get us over give us a shot of that replay booth there will you boys if anybody has an opportunity they have a tent set up down in the South End Zone so a one-point lead for Georgetown of Kentucky Montana Tech led by a touchdown with two minutes left to play they had first and goal from the N yd line Georgetown of Kentucky strips the ball loose goes 97 yards for the score they go for two they convert it and they now lead by one and as this play being looked at and as you alluded to earlier I think that's the only thing I can think of that would be looked at right now would be like a targeting crown of the helmet kind of scenario here we go taking a look at our case construction instant replay it's Knocked Up Now watch him come in here yeah itd be I mean you know I can maybe see why he got up calling for the Target but but that' be a tough one to take as a Defender as well yeah I I don't like if watching it I I don't think there is any malice he he's not coming at it he's just finishing off a tackle I mean that's it so so look at this here great job in there but yeah does I mean his his head does come down yeah I don't know why it's you know that was a penalty 40 years ago and then they just stopped policing it and they had to put all new kind of legislation in to try and correct something that was in the rule book 40 and 50 years ago that if they they had enforced it at the time it wouldn't be an issue so they're still the white hat is still over in the tent 59 seconds left to play here in this football game and and again the the the way you've used the word a lot it's just a weird game you know there there's been it's it's a it's a fun game but it has been the momentum shifts and the changes um have been really crazy throughout the 60 minutes I'm looking forward to rewatching it you know just to see you know cuz I'll be the first to ADM I don't watch when I'm up here A T of offensive defensive front play add it to the end of the Run you're going to get the targeting so a 15 yd penalty which is more important than anything and a fresh set of downs that is huge for Montana Tech so a TDS first down again thanks for joining us here on this Thursday night Montana Tech trailing by one 22 to 21 59 seconds left to play here in this ball game the Diggs have the football right at Midfield you figure you need a minimum of 20 yards here to get your kicker in a comfortable field goal situation but again you're working with a new kicker yeah you got Dylan the red shirt freshman out of Jefferson and he can it you know you don't doubt his ability you work on this Stu and uh uh you know the kid I talked to him the other day not cocky but certainly confident he he's well aware he can meet a football so yeah just getting in that opportunity you'd like to get across the goal line right but first and 10 from Midfield the nose of the football right at the 50 Montana Tech down by one 59 seconds left one receiver left two to the right Blake feling out of the shotgun Thelen awaiting the snap fourman pressure coming Thelen stands delivers downfield overthrown that's going to fall incomplete looking for Wyatt Alexander down the left sideline they're just uh yeah I I don't know the the route combinations I just don't like them right now they're not getting anybody down the middle of the football field they're not clearing safeties getting underneath coverage out of there so guys can either work for first down catches or you know deep crosses you know that kind of stuff I'm just not seeing a lot of action down the middle of the football field between the hash marks second and 10 here for the Diggs 55 seconds left to play two receivers each way Tigers bring four defensive lineman up Thiel dropping back he has time airs it up pass complete Kyle terson turns it up field he's down to the 32 first and 10 Montana Tech clock running 44 seconds the Diggs have two timeouts they will not use one it doesn't look like they're calling the play we're down to 36 6 seconds Thelen out of the shotgun trying to get set we're down to 30 seconds Thelen gets the snap dropping back Blitz coming fing across the middle tipped incomplete Kyle terson off his hands good coverage that time by Jason Hayes as Hayes all over him so 26 seconds remaining here in the football game Montana Tech down by one second and 10 from the 31 yd line looking at a 48 49 yd field goal as it stands right now certainly within the kicker range second down and 10 again the Diggs have two timeouts here it's always this point where I'm like man I should have talked to Coach what they thought his range was going to be today I I feel like it's always I never think about it until we get to this situation don't rule out the fact to hand on the ball to Lander Smith here either I know it sound and look a little crazy but you got two time outs second and 10 out of the shotgun Blitz coming thel and stands delivers downfield Kyle terson down to the 14 yd line first and 10 Montana Tech a TDS first down they're probably going to look at this one too they're calling it an incompletion see if we can get a look at it here yeah it looked like he had it and then he just struggled to get it tucked as he was as he was going to the ground here so as he makes the route slant into the center it must have bobbled it must have hit the turf and hopped up huh yeah he's he got banged up a little bit on that play third down and 10 here for the Diggs after the incompletion 16 seconds left to play Tech trailing by one you can do here except take a sack you've got to be smart as your senior quarterback here find something but uh be aware of the pass rush and get the ball delivered safely here's a good look at it here through the middle makes a great catch please came out good defensive came out third down and 10 what's the Ruckus I don't know we've got going on here penalty I don't see Flags down play clock the previous play is under review Montana Tech 2 remaining here the team's coming together to chat coach Samson going out to talk to the officials George toown coaching staff out on the numbers as well we're going over to look you get used to major college in NFL games dragging at the end of the game but never a Frontier game but now we got this Replay that so they're going to look at it here so when when it does Bobble so we're going to watch it come in here so it bounces it's on the turf there but it wow great job on replay guys nice job by our crew then you wonder what's their view so he goes down to watch it they don't use our video they use their own and actually I shouldn't say that they use the video from the filmers and you're certainly not going to get that look on the on the uh the film of you know the game film that you used to drive to Deer Lodge to give to the team in Hela right imagine trying to pick that up on a three times recorded VHS tape three times heck you'd be lucky that brand new with all the trick plays dubbed out of it there as you look at our uh replay Booth if you will 20 seconds remaining a onepoint lead here for Georgetown of Kentucky our second time we've gone to the replay Booth here today so I would have to think that this was originally deemed a catch but then they marched it back like so does the is the catch the original signal or when they marked it back the side judge came in from the far sideline waving it off and it was you know it was a few seconds after the receiver went down and everybody started to move that direction he came in waving it off so you know so then they subsequently went back right so they took say his call I don't know we have totally failed our rules uh questionnaire here this evening letter letter of the law and being consistent with what you've seen for whatever how many years now uh incompletion correct yeah yep one-point lead here for Georgetown of Kentucky 22-21 over Montana Tech with 20 seconds left to play if the incompletion holds Montana Tech is looking at third down and 10 from the 31 yd line of Georgetown if the pass is deemed complete then it would move down to the 15 yard line and be get a fresh set of downs Montana Tech 62 offensive plays 324 yards on the other side uh Georgetown has run 55 offensive plays 279 yards they have one fumble recovery for 95 yards both teams with a defensive score so the white hat comes out pretty even game pretty even game turn pass is incomplete third down [Applause] incomplete so incomplete pass the tech faithful doing what the tech faithful supposed to do with their second time out of the half third down and 10 here 20 seconds remaining in this football game and the Diggs with one timeout out of the shotgun Blake thielen three-step drop Thelen steps up he's going to run oh Thelen stops he's going to air it up towards the end zone oneon-one cut it's caught in the end zone touchdown Montana Tech that is a huge huge reception brought in by Wyatt Alexander and what a throw by Blake felen his only catch of the game that's it Blake thien throws a dart watch this he steps up I thought he was going to run this is just trusting your guy against that guy I mean this is that's huge this isn't open by any stretch this is just Wyatt Alexander making a play for his quarterback Wyatt goes up gets two feet and a knee in touchdown Montana Tech what a play by Wyatt Alexander and what a read by Blake thielen and me me and you are both sitting there going run the football run the football without saying it thank God I yeah I just what a play that time by Blake theel and there's your senior leader you know not the best game for him and not the best game for Montana Tech throwing the football but when the cards are on the table Blake thielen delivers a strike and Montana Tech goes up by five absolutely he just he wanted to get that ball to Wyatt all day long finally got him in man coverage down the sideline you know they did a lot of over under on him on a lot of that stuff and Montana Tech looked confused at various points during the football game but that time it was just mono Amano and Alexander standing there at 6'4 65 whatever he is just went up strong caught the ball there wasn't much you know for for as close as they were together down there there wasn't much contact either and there wasn't a ton of elevation you know it wasn't they need it wasn't a situation where both were high balled you know it wasn't uh just a great catch by Wyatt his first Catch of the Day 31 yards and a score Montan tech leads by five yeah and the way this game's going what do you still you got to kick the ball off exactly you know and you just never know they have no timeouts this is obviously a team that's got zero quit in them and so you've got to play the remainder of this game all 12 second stays out split backs they're going to try and push it out to a seven-point lead Kyle terson goes in motion stops in the back field they fake the pitch to him Thelen rolls out airs it up pass caught two-point conversion is good one-handed grab by Snider with the off hand Dylan Snider hauls it in Montana Tech goes up by seven this is just a strange great football game holy man wow if you haven't taken your heart medication yet you might want to we still have 12 seconds left 2922 take a look at this Here Blake thielen and credit to him stepping up here that's huge and he stops to look for his receivers that is such an incredible decision by that young man Bo and he uh he had the defender wrapped around him how about Alexander doesn't lay a hand on the defender there not a hand nothing for balance nothing for leverage uh that's incredible because you know the defender was playing with a hand on the chest and uh for him not to fight back there one hand Dylan Snider goes up and gets hey hats off to our replay crew Jason and crew over there these guys our crew has really had a nice night here tonight excellent excellent coverage if only the bane of our existence wasn't that darn score bug seven-point lead for the Diggs 29-22 12 seconds left to play that 9-2 pull tab is in play I'm sorry I already threw it away that's the problem 92 pull tab all right so the kicking unit is in do you squib this do you kick it out of the back of the end zone you got a guy that can kick it into the end zone I think you just tell him to give it the onions yeah all right so we approach 12 seconds left to go low Line Drive bounces goes into the end zone put a knee on it but the problem is it May contact so the clock ran right so there's that's the big difference here if it just goes out the back of the end zone without anybody touching it there's 12 seconds I think they might add a second or two but clock did run off 2922 the digs up by seven an incredible football game here tonight at Bob Green Field on the new Turf the digs trying to hang a w here and light the V for the first time on this surf three experienced football players are going to be joined at the end of this game Landers Smith grabbing his quarterback and Wyatt Alexander and saying thanks guys and you know at in the same breath they're going to be saying we wouldn't have been here without you Landers but yeah two tough turnovers one for the 97 yd interception return Crossing route across the 3035 they'll throw the pitch back big hit delivered and that's going to do it Montana Tech will take down the number three team in the country whitcom another guy who played a great game getting the polish off tackle there 2922 the Diggs with the win over Georgetown of Kentucky a seven-point victory in the number 21 or diggers take down the number three Tigers out of Georgetown of Kentucky and the Diggs will start the year out one and0 they're one and0 on the new Bob Greenfield what a crazy game my goodness that was just insane they'll come through for the handshakes hats off to Georgetown of Kentucky coming up here for this one and what a night of football we have been treated to here this evening you do you got to tip your hat to Georgetown and and we weren't surprised right uh it's a good program that's it there we go boys how about that yeah but you got to hand it to them they never laid down never quit played their rear ends off just was it what you'd expect from a team that's just been in the mix for for a couple decades now you know when they first came on Montana Tech in the frontier radar and uh yeah you you feel awful for them in the same breath you know they you know a a a varying roller coaster of emotions uh on this football field for both teams today this has been just nuts I'm really upset that there's trees blocking our line of sight to the to the Big M like I had to go look and I can't I can barely see the bottom of it light that sucker it's lit light the V baby Monte Tech takes down Georgetown of Kentucky 29-22 let's take a quick break we'll come back we'll give you the numbers and wrap this one up from Bob Greenfield ladies and gentlemen we're back after this [Music] hey Dave Brennan here number three in the country in the preseason poll uh and uh I don't like I said I we were expecting a brawl uh in just a great football game you know there were so many turns I I like that neither team rolled over you know both teams there were opportunities for both teams to just go you know what let's just get out of here let's let's just go home get on the bus you know whatever the case is both teams had opportunities and uh it says a whole lot about both coaching staffs and and the character of these teams that they they maybe extended a a digit and we're like all right let's let's go fight yeah it was uh it was a really hard fought hard-hitting football game uh you know the the the tough well I guess the good news is it's a Thursday night game you're going to get a couple extra days both teams before their next you know that like the nine or 10 days before their next game which is nice because uh there's a lot of banged up bodies out here today yeah and uh and getting back to the uh Georgetown tiger who went down and was taken off on the ambulance hopefully he's doing good uh yeah your the thoughts go out to to him and his teammates and of course his family but uh yeah it was a hard-hitting game certainly some guys some bumps and bruises they'll get a couple extra days uh more than usual to heal up and uh you know they're both going to need it they're heading into uh their conference play and and Tech's got to go to Carol and that's never an easy Affair and so yeah just uh lot of momentum you know you're going to get a lot of momentum coming back from this but yeah it's it's it's funny Montana Tech ends the game with a a long completion to Alexander for the win because that passing game just did not look real crisp all day long and it's kind of surprising right uh well and it's it's so out of character because we have grown so accustomed to watching that I mean it was such a well-oiled machine every minute of last year yeah yeah and so hopefully maybe it was just out one completion that's going to spark uh you know a little a little more gel in that offense throwing the football but yeah I mean you can take a lot from this but uh number one thing is to to get in that locker room training room home eat right and and heal up because uh yeah this was a hard-hitting football game here today well let's run through the numbers please jump in at your lasure my friend let's start things off uh let's go with Georgetown of Kentucky Georgetown ran 56 plays for 290 yards on the day uh they kept Neil under 100 yards that's a that's a great day at the office when you hold a first team allam uh to under 100 yards on the ground uh he goes 20 carries 93 yards no touchdowns average 4.4 carry uh AER excuse me Akerson had six carries for 37 yards through the a slunaker uh was 10 of 21 for 158 yards he had one touchdown he was sacked three times which is a great number to see it's another one we didn't get much pressure last year uh and he was th he threw four interceptions uh in this ball game here tonight on the other side for Montana Tech uh they ran 63 offensive plays for 355 Ys Blake thielen uh was 13 of 26 for 134 yards and one touchdown uh coming right there at the end Lander Smith 34 carries 20 yards for Lander Smith on the day had two touchdowns average 5.9 yards a touch uh then from there receiving Torgerson Kyle had great ball game six catches 66 yards uh Wyatt Alexander one catch for 31 and a score Dylan Snider two for 14 in that two-point conversion uh Logan Kennedy had a catch for 14 and uh yeah I mean that's that's where we stand the big one across the board for both of these teams is uh turnovers you know turnovers played a huge Factor you know they do in every game of football but turnovers were a monster factor in this football game I I just don't anticipate that being a problem with Lander Smith moving forward I mean he's just he's fighting for yards he's a dog uh he goes hard fights for every extra yard and sometimes you just maybe get a little careless with the football that's something he will correct I don't doubt that but I want to go back to you know the question mark coming into this season after last year was you know clearly the defensive front play uh you know Tech was solid there last year but just not real deep right uh you you you look at guys like DJ Brown and Anthony Oaks and and Newton and DeVos uh a whole bunch of them in that defensive front played their rear ends off today ate up blocks they allowed Wyatt to get to a lot of tackles they allowed Beller to make a lot of plays and outside on the edge I just don't see many people playing better football than whitcom right now he just he's all over the place he he got a hand on a football and handed Jaden downs one of his interceptions uh but he made the big play there at the end last tackle how fitting but he just played a great football game uh so many good efforts here today but uh you got to tip your hat to that uh defensive front you know that those four down guys in that linebacker set you know whether it's a nickel in there or the three linebackers they played a good game today they learned early from when they were getting beat a little bit and uh really shut this this team down in the second quarter and hats off to Georgetown they came back in the third and fourth and they were able to move the football a little bit but this defense just they just didn't ever really look porous no you know uh when when they did at times last year so you know that's uh that's an improvement it's going to help them just hopefully they're they're all healthy going into next week CU they're going to have to be as good or better next week that's the deal so once again our final 2922 Montana Tech takes down
